The USDA food standards are crap anyway. High fat is actually one of the best macros you can increase. Sugar should be decreased. Anytime you stand for anything, you will make enemies. If you have no enemies at all (not saying you should seek them out) it means you didn't stand for much in life. He was right about school lunches.
The food pyramid is completely backwards, we need more fat vs more sugar and carbs. I've seen the new proper science behind the ass backwards out dated food pyramid, sad how we teach or try to scare people into extremely unhealthy habits. Not to mention all the preservatives, additives, pesticides, etc... that we allow pumped into or sprayed onto our foods in the US. I lived in France for 4 years and OMG, they eat like 5-6 course meals, a drink, an appetizer, a meal, varied cheeses, a cafe and desert and lots of fresh daily made bread from the boulangerie. Yet in the 4 years there I saw less obese people than a normal American Walmart visit. Its definitely all the BS we allow to be put in our foods before harvest and all the preservatives added to allow long shelf lives. Not to mention even in elementary, the school board comes together with a qualified nutritionist and the schools chefs(trained actual chefs vs our untrained lunch ladies), and they map out 1 months of food in advance and then cook a healthy multiple course meal everyday for the children vs the slop we allow the kids to binge on in the US. Its sad but we are doing it to ourselves, we need to learn from our brothers and sisters who are doing things right, and not just for food. America needs to get off its high horse and realize we've made alot of wrong turns since the 1950s.

This article is just dishonest. The Huntington school didn’t implement his program, they had three years of frozen food in their freezers, that they were forced to buy by the feds. They reverted right back to their school menu as soon as he stopped filming.

It is perfectly fine to make a decadent meal once in a while or a ridiculous cake. No one is going after you for your twice a month baked deliciousness. It is the consistent everyday part of the diet which is the problem. Just as I say about coke, if you need diet coke you are drinking it too often. Make it a treat and enjoy it.

People keep crying for this man like he's some kind of victim. If he just wants to be a cook with endorsement deals, then he should step back in the kitchen and let someone competent run the business. And stop getting involved in controversial topics and practice that a cook/restaurateur has no business being involved with.

As someone who has taught in inner-city schools, school lunch and breakfast are the only meals some students will get in a day. A lot of people can’t afford food for a variety of reasons, but putting down programs that feed children who otherwise wouldn’t eat is wrong. Many schools even give out bags of food so kids can eat over the weekend. Children should not go hungry. Without school meals, these kids would go hungry, or eat fast food with no health benefits. Many are even homeless. With inner-city schools, they get more government money, and have healthier meals. Don’t put down people who are doing their best, and feeding their children the healthiest and best way they can.

For 5 dollars I could buy 4 smart balance frozen meals, which are loaded with sugar, or 2 healthy avacados. After the sugar tax, I can afford 2 smart balance frozen meals or 2 avacados. Oops a storm or drought hit, so now the prices of produce increased again. Now I can only afford 1 avacado and 2 limes or 2 smart balance meals. Wouldn't you be pissed? A single bottle of soda might cost anywhere from 1.75->1.99. Now it costs 3.25-4.00. And forget it if your a buisness like a pastry shop, ice cream palor, candy store, or even a restaurant - alcohol and wine have sugar. But wait, while everyone else is paying for these increased costs, he's getting a tax break, despite the fact that he's still charging the the same increased prices as everyone else. That's just one of the laws he helped lobby for. He also never actually sticks towards anything that he supports, so yeah he'll say he's for the hazard try to help us set up that program, but three or four months in, he's gone but he leaves the work 1/2 finished. That salmon farm? Anyone with common sense should understand the horrifying dangers of an invasive species. Then there's the fact that he doesn't seem to stop making certain types of comments despite the fact that it makes the public upset. Right or wrong it affects His image. The USDA food standards are crap anyway. High fat is actually one of the best macros you can increase. Sugar should be decreased. Anytime you stand for anything, you will make enemies. The food pyramid is completely backwards, we need more fat vs more sugar and carbs. I've seen the new proper science behind the ass backwards out dated food pyramid, sad how we teach or try to scare people into extremely unhealthy habits. Not to mention all the preservatives, additives, pesticides, etc... that we allow pumped into or sprayed onto our foods in the US. I lived in France for 4 years and OMG, they eat like 5-6 course meals, a drink, an appetizer, a meal, varied cheeses, a cafe and desert and lots of fresh daily made bread from the boulangerie. Yet in the 4 years there I saw less obese people than a normal American Walmart visit. Its definitely all the BS we allow to be put in our foods before harvest and all the preservatives added to allow long shelf lives. Not to mention even in elementary, the school board comes together with a qualified nutritionist and the schools chefs(trained actual chefs vs our untrained lunch ladies), and they map out 1 months of food in advance and then cook a healthy multiple course meal everyday for the children vs the slop we allow the kids to binge on in the US. Its sad but we are doing it to ourselves, we need to learn from our brothers and sisters who are doing things right, and not just for food. America needs to get off its high horse and realize we've made alot of wrong turns since the 1950s.

It is perfectly fine to make a decadent meal once in a while or a ridiculous cake. No one is going after you for your twice a month baked deliciousness.

So many of his restaurants and businesses have closed down due to his poor image driving aware clientele. He's laid off literally thousands of employees, with no warnings, because of it. Heck, earlier this year, he made a bad business investment that led to him closing down several of his restaurants across do UK. Instead of using the money that he recouped to give him some employees a severance package, he decided to build an expansion onto his already outrageously large mansion. He borrowed millions of pounds with the promise that he'd take the advice of the financial planners and revitalize his brand. Instead, he doubled down on what he was already doing until it was too late. The same investors are also now suing him for misappropriation of funds and violating their agreement because they believe their money went into that previously mentioned house. And again hundreds got laid off without warning in the last closings. Many of whom have started separate class action lawsuits for the different franchises that he owned. People keep crying for this man like he's some kind of victim. They also love to send him by saying that he's a cook and for some reason keep ignoring the fact that he owns several restaurant chains and brands that bear his name. If he just wants to be a cook with endorsement deals, then he should step back in the kitchen and let someone competent run the business. As someone who has taught in inner-city schools, school lunch and breakfast are the only meals some students will get in a day. A lot of people can’t afford food for a variety of reasons, but putting down programs that feed children who otherwise wouldn’t eat is wrong. Many schools even give out bags of food so kids can eat over the weekend. Children should not go hungry. Without school meals, these kids would go hungry, or eat fast food with no health benefits. Many are even homeless. With inner-city schools, they get more government money, and have healthier meals. Don’t put down people who are doing their best, and feeding their children the healthiest and best way they can.

His assumptions about priorities are misguided. Anything can happen that could take you from being ok or well off to just barely getting by. I have a masters in psychology and I got injured on my job 5 weeks before I completed my degree. The job I had was a physical one and the judge knew that I couldn’t go back into that type of work. I never got any training because I was on light duty and wasn’t eligible to train with my degree...times became harder for me after receiving full disability but prior to that I was actually well off and could afford to purchase nice things. Imagine a tax on sugar in America. Now imagine that companies, in no way, change how they produce food. For 5 dollars I could buy 4 smart balance frozen meals, which are loaded with sugar, or 2 healthy avacados. After the sugar tax, I can afford 2 smart balance frozen meals or 2 avacados. Oops a storm or drought hit, so now the prices of produce increased again. Now I can only afford 1 avacado and 2 limes or 2 smart balance meals. Wouldn't you be pissed? A single bottle of soda might cost anywhere from 1.75->1.99. Now it costs 3.25-4.00. And forget it if your a buisness like a pastry shop, ice cream palor, candy store, or even a restaurant - alcohol and wine have sugar. But wait, while everyone else is paying for these increased costs, he's getting a tax break, despite the fact that he's still charging the the same increased prices as everyone else. That's just one of the laws he helped lobby for.
He also never actually sticks towards anything that he supports, so yeah he'll say he's for the hazard try to help us set up that program, but three or four months in, he's gone but he leaves the work 1/2 finished.

I'm his enemy. He took Turkey Twizzlers out of our school dinners. I went to one of the best schools for sports in the UK, weight was not an issue. Once he changed our school dinners, people started losing weight. I remember one dinner there was salad, a potato and some green beans. We needed protein!
