    So nice to see you again Christine! What a lovely new cat you have 😁❤️ I, like you, decided not to plan anything, I want to just enjoy my crafting and do what I want at the moment I want… Too many things showed me in the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 that all my plans can go to the bin easily 🙈 Anyway, I love your projects and antique quilts, and the curtains! The curtains are fantastic!! Hope to see you again here soon 😍❤️

    Another great and informative video. Always love seeing what you're working on and also seeing all of your terrific finds while out and about. The antique hexie quilt is stunning, but I really love the pyramid shaped block quilt you found. Thanks for sharing! Happy stitching.

    Gladys is adorable. Lucky kitty to be in your studio. All of your show and tell was wonderful. Funny that you mentioned taking the DMC off the little cards. I did that exact thing with all of mine last week. I still remember winding the floss on them years ago and making them all nice and neat in the plastic boxes that they fit so nicely in. It was a tedious, time consuming project unwinding them all, but so glad I did it. The cabinet you bought is from Hobby Lobby, as you thought. I bought one from there several years ago. I really like having it.

      I’ve started unwinding those I have kitted up. I’m wondering if I should just unwind as I go? Then I would know what I never use, kind of like the clothes hanger trick. 😆

    My Shipshewana experiences go way, way back. My parents were both antique dealers and I started going with them to the auction when I was just out of college. I remember the town when it was barely popular, the main (maybe only) restaurant was a cafeteria style place called The Buggy Wheel. It was owned by an Amish couple who offered three main courses and you went through a line with your tray, and they would dish the food out of a steam table. Sadly this couple was later killed in a buggy accident. The town looked a lot diffent then, there were no modern tourist buildings, no Blue Gate. I had the same idea as you when I saw Gather Inn, it instantly reminded me of Shipshe. I almost started it last year but didn't get to it. It's wonderful that you go to your grandaughter's sports. My daughter did everything but I was the parent who sat there alone. And I love that you take in homeless cats.

    Gladys is a lucky cat. I'm jealous she gets to live in your studio. I made the Wooly Stars quilt. I turned one the opposite direction and made it a black sheep. Wish I could insert a picture here.

    You are not crazy with the DMC floss dropping! I've been stitching for at least 40 years and last year decided to un-bobbinate my DMC. With every project I kit or work on, I take my DMC off the bobbins and put on floss drops. It is so much easier to pull off one strand then to do it the old way with the bobbins!! It will be worth it in the end!

    • @mountaincraftsstudio
      @mountaincraftsstudio  8 місяців тому

      I have to believe it will be worth it. My only concern is the cat hair. It seems to collect on the loose floss more. I’ll just have to pick it out as I stitch.

    Good morning Christine! Good morning Gladys! At one time we inherited a barn cat, her 4 babies and a German shepherd who didn’t make a police force. We hadn’t intended to have that many pets, but once they moved in there was no way we would give them up . They were incredibly sweet, wonderful companions! Anyway, it was so good to see you today. Your productivity is mind blowing! I love the variety of needle art you present. Take care of yourself as you care for your parents. They are blessed to have you for a daughter.

      Growing up on a farm we’ve always had more pets than we know what to do with. They just show up and we can’t not take care of them. I’m not sure why someone would have unloaded her in the country, she is as sweet as a cat can be.

    I showed my husband your sugarloaf mountain quilt. He said “You don’t want her to be ahead of you when you go to an antique store.” I think he’s right. 😉 I’m so happy you are saving those treasures.
    I know it is tough caring for your parents and for them too. You are wise to spend time with them now. I was my father and mother’s primary caretaker because they chose to move near me and my husband.

    It was lovely seeing you along with recent acquisitions. Family experiences are truly treasured moments. Regarding the English paper pieced quilt, were the hexagon flowers appliqued onto the background fabric? You have created a lovely environment to create. Thank you for sharing. Take care.

    • @mountaincraftsstudio
      @mountaincraftsstudio  8 місяців тому +1

      No, the flowers are printed except for the darkest black fabric. Those are embroidered flowers. It’s such an interesting quilt.

    So good to see you this evening and love your beautiful new kitty. I’ve got three and they absolutely want on top of quilting, cross stitching and the machine. But they are a comfort to have. I’m a little jealous of your purchases - not really there just aren’t any antique stores around. Again, I always look forward to seeing you.

      Sadly antique stores are getting harder and harder to find around here, too.

    Christine I’m not sure you’ve seen my system of floss storage but have them in a file drawer hanging and wondering your thoughts. Is that dark enough to keep them from fading? I’ll message you a pic. I wish I had the space for the lovely cabinets you share! That would be my first choice. Especially the old card catalogs I see!

      I mentioned it toward the end of the video. It is Hearthside Craftworks Mark 2. You can find it on the Evertotes.com website. You might also want to search UA-cam for other videos that show how to assemble it. It’s very informative.
