Kate - I live in the U.S and with the upcoming election life is stressful every hour of every day. I have to thank you as your show is like a wonderful meditation, comforting and caring. I couldn't get through this without you. THANK YOU! Love both of your channels.
Oh indeed!!! What a lovely ''trip'' through an entire project!! l'm watching from the Ozarks in the US....how nice to be in touch.....thank you for your videos....love your cat....your garden is lovely.....Best regards....Barb
Oh, Teresa, I know what you mean, I've been hiding out in my sewing room. I do have a TV but, un-cabled and un-dished, lol, it's music or Kate, or one of many subscription quilters. Nearly done with the Christmas gifts, so it's been progressing nicely. The elections will be over real soon, then we'll have to listen to the back seat news Politian's yammering on and on. We'll be able to come out in time for Thanksgiving, Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Your cardi is lovely Kate. I laughed at your pearls of wisdom. If I want a cardigan that buttons up I'll wear a jumper. Can everyone sitting on the lime green sofa please stand up and search under their cushion for Kates buttons.
Beautiful cardigan. Over the years I have put so many things “in a safe place”, never to be seen again. Just think of how exciting it will be to find all our treasures when we remember where the safe place is.
Kate.....you are just amazing to me. I am not a knitter, but loved seeing you accomplish this sweater. The sweater fits you beautifully. Can't suggest a clue about finding those buttons. I think, if you don't find them the sweater will still be a "masterpiece". I have watched you for years and have loved every minute. Sending love and a hug to my friend in England.....YOU! Talk about you all the time. I'm an 85 year old quilter and live in Pueblo, Colorado, USA. You provide much joy in my life and I thank you. Judy
Judy….I’m reading your note to Kate and marvel at the fact that you have written the exact thoughts that I was thinking. I’m 73 years, a sewist and love quilting and…I live in Pueblo West, Colorado. It’s a small world and yet we have connected via our mutual friend, Kate, who is thousands of miles away. Kate’s LIME GREEN SOFA is to thank! Blessings! Katherine
This video has inspired me to dig out a cardigan that my Mom has made 40 years ago for herself. She has been gone for 30 years now. She was so proud of it, but at the time I didn't give her the credit she deserved.
It is not to late to give her credit! It is wonderful that you still have the cardigan. I have a shawl that my mother crocheted for me almost 30 years ago. I cherish it and when it is cold outside, I love to wrap the shawl around my shoulders and think of my mother. I will think of you and your mothers cardigan now too!
Bravo!! I don't knit, but my mom and grandmothers were all knitters. I do crochet and enjoy the craft. Thank you for taking us on the journey of you knitting this lovely piece... I hope you'll continue sharing these adventures.
I was very pleased to see you knitting. I have just started to knit again. The last knitting I did was to finish a sweater that my twin sister ( Kate) had started. She died very suddenly and I knew she hated having unfinished projects so I had to finish it. Her daughter now cherishes it. Some how it's taken me 18 months to pick up my needles again. I'm doing a top down cardy too. Love your videos. X
Yaaay! It made me smile to see knitting in one of your videos! ❤ Your yarn choice is beautiful! You asked about blocking: I do exactly what you are doing. And, I insert pins as necessary. Your finished object "FO" worked out fabulously! Thanks for taking us along to share in the journey! 🐑
Oh Kate, thank you so much for breaking this down into time fragments! So many crafter's videos don't tell you how long it takes to make the items. You don't know if the project will take four weekends or four months of weekends. :) It is so nice to know that a sweater took you almost five months to make. Many of my projects have taken months to years longer to finish. I have ADHD so I go between projects to keep me working on them. Like you, I knit, crochet, sew or quilt, cross stitch, and even have started the diamond painting bug. HA HA. Blessing to you and keep making these beautiful videos. (I'm from California, USA)
I have ADHD as well and I also find going between projects helpful. I love Kate has given a realistic knitting time-frame as well, it can get overwhelming "keeping up" with others
Dearest Kate! You might think you are slow, but I would make you look like the hare. 🐇I'm definitely the tortoise! 🐢Your cardigan is lovely! YT was not forwarding your notifications to me hardly at all, so I turned off YT history. Now I just go to my subscription page, and there you are! I don't like YT picking for me. I can make up my own mind, thank you very much! It's SO good to SEE you again! Hugs from across the Pond!
Your cardigan looks lovely Kate. Such a practical colour, it'll go with so many things! I love yarn like this where it has a great depth of colour because of all the different shades that go into making it a whole 💜 I'm very guilty of finding 'safe places' for things too 😂 my favourite dating is 'it'll turn up, don't worry about it! ' I figure there's no point in getting all het up about not being able to find things, they always seem to turn up eventually when you're leadt expecting it.
I needed something to put on while I was knitting, and this was perfect! My biggest blocking tip is to not use "stainless" quilting T-pins for blocking--I had a very lovely shawlette with not-so-lovely rust spots.
I have a cardigan that my Great Aunt knitted over 60 years ago. still beautiful. I treasure it. She is the one that taught me to knit and the only knitter in the family. Glad I love to knit, because of her. Love your podcast and beautiful garments - and your darling, beautiful cat.
Beautiful cardigan, Kate!! Everything from the pattern to the yarn choice and the fittings is perfect for you! As a long-time knitter of sweaters, I SO enjoyed how your put this film together. We all dream of knitting a sweater in real time that fits into a 35 minute video. HaHa! 🙂I've been with you since before Covid and I think this may be my first comment. I have to say, this must be my very favorite video!!! Thanks for each and every segment of you life that you share with us! Warm hugs from the Midwest USA
I love your sweater ! Jenny's stretchy bind off, I too, use it, when binding off my knitted toe up socks. Must say, kitties love boxes, especially in a warm window. You have made yourself a lovely, heart warming home.
A beautiful cardigan! My grandma used to knit when I was small and taught all of her grandchildren when they were so inclined. She always had a basket of leftover yarn for us to practice our skills and of course made sweaters for us. She was from Scotland & I’ve learned ,while researching her past, that her father owned a knitting mill in Edinburgh and in Philadelphia,US. They immigrated in 1892. Love your videos 😊
I have a way of finding those things, it works more than half the time. I sketch the rooms as a little map from above, as much or as little detail as you like. Then I sit with the drawing and slowly move my hand over it, asking my hand to get warm when I’m getting close. I am the same person who tucked the buttons away, so that memory is in there somewhere. I just ask my hand to help the memory come out. Sometimes it can take a few tries, maybe more than one drawing. But it works very often. Good luck 😉🐾💙🕊️ Thank you for sharing your journey through the seasons and the knitting, with lovely cat Rita.
Congratulations…. You finished your cardigan and it’s turned out just fab!!! I’m sure you’ll get lots of use from it, and when we see you wearing it we can say Oh… we saw you knit that!!!
So funny, that's how Arne makes his yarn balls from a skein. I never saw that method until a few days ago on their channel. Im knitting a dog sweater for my new puppy for winter. ❤
I have missed you Kate I hope you’re doing well and the gardens ready for the next phase Please Kate make more UTube videos It seams as if I haven’t seen many new videos as of late. Beautiful! I really like the shoulder detailing. Having recently moved after 20+ years I discovered I had more "safe places" than I realized. Its a good time to get reorganized.
Your cardigan turned out beautifully, Kate! Very attractive! I had to chuckle when you said you couldn’t find your buttons…so relatable!! This was a fun informative video! Thank you! Enjoy your Fall! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻

Beautiful cardigan Kate!
I really like this concept of seeing at intervals how a project went. I hope this happens more, too.
I completely agree. I'm a quilter wanna-be-knitter. Seeing the process broken done was helpful. Kate you are wonderful!
