Dr. Ben - for several years now i've been taping my mouth closed when I go to bed. My sinuses are now perfectly clear & functional. I'm much healthier, more energized, & sleep like a baby. It's been a life changer for me. Actually I can now sleep without the tape if I wanted to.
The free little course was great and kind of confirmed for me the part I like best about the Wim Hoff method - the deep breath hold rocks, the hyperventilation is horrible and nauseating. I love Wim Hoff because he seems like a chill and charitable guy. Erwans pricing gave me the heeby jeebys and I've decided to just keep on in experimenting (I'm not too worried about breath holding as long as possible - I like the relaxation it brings and light confrontation with my panicky animal brain helps me feel less anxious throughout the day)
I will say, there isn't any information in Erwan's Course you can't find for free. As with most information these days, you're paying for the legwork the teacher has already done to put it all in one place.
I never experienced, lessons, so i never realized that.,but, i have had experienced holding my breath for that long. After a few traumas, i am gradually getting back there.
I had a bizarrely negative experience with the same course- I was not able to gain benefits from the class, and then when I told them that, I was blocked by Erwan on Twitter. I'm absolutely shocked that he censors who can follow him and comment on his posts- this is censorship, which he comments on all the time, yet he censored me. It's baffling. I still have many questions.
I also decide who gets to view my content based on my interactions with people. I don’t know the nature of your interaction with him but no one is obligated to allow access to them on social media. Especially since in my experience people often feel they have the right to behave however they want toward the person posting since there is essentially no fear of consequences. I have had many disgusting and horrible things said to me on this platforms and others. I absolutely understand the need to filter what energy is directed your way. In my case I’m providing lots of free information the tool decades to acquire. I’m not obligated to let everyone see it. If you can’t be respectful my channel goes away. Now I’m not saying that was the case with your interaction just sharing the other side of the spectrum. I’m sorry you didn’t get what you wanted from the course. I hope you do find what you’re looking for in the breath hold arena.
@@DoctorBen You sound like a proponent of the Disinformation Bureau. Interesting, no one is allowed to criticize him, kind of like no one was allowed to be critical of the vaccine. He is an ego tripping maniac who lives to brag about his records. He lied explicitly about the results of the course. He said "100% of the students improved 2-3-4 times, which is absolute horseshit. That's the part that bothers me. Are we not allowed to mention that only 25% of the class attended the last session, where he claims 100% of students set a record? Am I not allowed to say it did not work for me? I don't think he is such a holy guy like he proclaims himself to be, just a little too much full of shit. You have to listen to 24 hours of him droning on and rarely getting to the point, to ferret out the few bits of actually helpful information. Bottom line: OVERRATED.
Also, I was surprised, your video does not summarize his technique. You would think that would help explain why it's so great. Interesting, no one seems to be able to summarize it. At least Wim Hof gets right to the point, without the ego and without the lies. His technique may be simpler, but, again, if Erwan's is so complex that its completely impossible to summarize, that's questionable.
@@dantarver7554 Charging over $400 for a breath technique is bs. Same with TM charging over a thousand. It's greed plane and simple IMO but luckily there's lots of good stuff right here for free.
I have learned to breathe in through my mouth and out through my nose because of learning to swim. Has been an immense help to me. Helps with singing, too!!!
I completely agree with the guys who had a negative experience. I signed up for the live course and found it really disappointing and Erwan's ability to teach poor. Pretty much all passive learning - as in Erwan talking at everyone for 2 hours, with a handful of exercises thrown in. - Some of his statements that he made were unhelpful or opinion that he presented as fact - his assertion that fast breathing isn't driven by CO2 intolerance, but is habitual misses the nuance and importance of both. It's not either or and he presented it as such. - "I don't do any daily breathwork - Are you surprised?" a direct quote, which is incredibly arrogant and disrespectful to an audience who he then is asking & expecting to carry out daily breathwork practices. - Criticising general breathwork classes for delivering breathwork protocols to an audience, when the audience didn't understand the impact they would have on their cellular respiration. Followed by doing exactly the same thing. At no point did he check for understanding, so just assumed people knew what he was talking about and I doubt the majority on the course did. - Rehashed Patrick McKweon / Butekyo method of reduced breathing with absolutely no reference to them, which is pretty disingenuous as he makes a big thing about how he can hold his breath for a long time without using Wim Hof, when in fact he is leveraging this through existing breathing techniques that he then doesn't acknowledge.
I was simply offering my experience on the class so others could evaluate whether or not the class would be valuable to them. However, I would state that I have often been accused of not referencing someone because they are the popular source. However, in those cases I did not provide a reference, I did not learn it from the popular source. Is it not possible that he figured out reduced breathing techniques without learning them from someone else? I think it's unfair to assume that you know where someone's knowledge originates.
I have seen immense improvement in my cardiovascular performance since starting breath hold training. I do think for something like HIIT training, specifically training the inspiration and expiration muscles so that you can inhale and exhale faster would be immensely beneficial. Erwan did cover this in his course as well.
Saying that “it’s your brain” or “limbic system” doesn’t explain much. I’m rather surprised over the lack of conversation regarding carbon dioxide, and how by breath holding we are actually teaching our body to work with more CO2. It’s wrong to think that we are teaching our bodies to ignore basic survival signals. Instead, we are teaching our body to manage CO2 more effectively.
Yes you can teach your body to deal with more CO2 if you can mentally push through what will be an incredibly uncomfortable, and potentially terrifying, experience.
@@Syntaxstic I agree, you don't NEED to. However, a mentor can greatly assist in making progress more quickly and all I was saying is that I got a great deal out of the course. If you don't see it's value, that's totally fine. You are welcome to piecemeal it together as I did before I finally decided to seek a little guidance. My opinion was offered to help people decide whether the course was right for them or not. Nothing more.

do you think it would improve a HIIT workout eg the concept rower where breathing tend to be limit moreso than muscle exhaustion

It’s too expensive for me
Sorry can’t help with the price.
Although I did just see he’s running a 30% off sale on the live and e course right now.
For many. It's kinda gross. I recommend the aum chant, yoga nidra, and breathworks beats channel here. All the most beneficial I've found for free.
I feel his course is good value for money. Training to hold your breath is very different from the breath work most people practice.
