I bought this kit from these guys over two (2) years ago. Once I had it installed on my 2018 F350 LIMMITED 6.7 PowerStroke, I was happy to have preformed this simple task of preventative maintenance and never need worry about an expensive fuel system catastrophic failure from these all too common fuel pump failures.
My return filter started leaking after 8 months for no apparent reason, and SPE wanted to charge me to replace the O-rings. So I took it off and replaced it with S&S. I'm not happy with customer service from SPE, or the Fit and finish of the "intake piping kit". Looking elsewhere for future upgrades !
Now that you've done a layout and overview video, it's important to do an ACTUAL step-by-step installation tutorial following your own published directions. I have a 2020 and I'll be performing this procedure and I'd feel alot better about it if you had the video resources available. Thanks.
Just did this job, and 100% the install manual is okay, but missing several tips that would have saved me hours. Their a few good videos out there, but takes a few hours to fine.
Really want to see more videos from you guys! Cory does a great job too but coming straight from the manufacture and the creators of your products feel much more informative
Was holding off for a while on a "DPK". Now that the SPE kit is out, it is a need. SPE does 6.7 powerstroke. Thank you for making this decision so easy.
Ordered. Have a exergy mprop waiting to go in. Gonna wait till this comes in and for the install video. Didnt like the thought of cutting lines but you all have truly outdone yourself. I think this kit is the most thought out product on the market as far as saving the injectors and fuel system.
I throughly enjoyed this video, extremely informative and I truly appreciate that Dan took the time and effort to explain it as well as he did. Purchased the kit as soon as I was done watching this video. Well done SPE!
Will this work with an Airdog or FASS? And is it necessary to have a lift pump if I’m running the SPE system? Also, will this need to be run with a sump like beans dual hole?
Notice all the videos installing the SPE kit dont have factory CCV's. both the distribution block and the filter block rubbed up against my factory CCV and caused a leak between one of the two. Removing the SPE kit and going to an S&S kit after hearing from the company that they dont take returns on installed parts. Other than the leak, all the parts look to be in good shape. Tech support said Ford installs the fuel lines bent down sometimes. Not sure I believe that but regardless i'm not yielding my factory hard lines to get an aftermarket kit to work. Feel free to contact me if you want a heavily discounted SPE kit in like new condition!
How is debris not going out to the injectors with the kit? Is there a feed out line after the cp4 to a filter system then back into the pump heads? I understand the return side but how does the hi presure side work?
I purchased an Ezy Lynk tuner for my 2016 powerstroke. Worked as advertised. I ran on all stages without any issues. A year later i bought this disaster kit, the shop i had installed it warned me that there may be an issue with the kit and tuner. They said if you run on stage 4 it may give you engine codes and stall. I had them install anyway hoping it wouldnt. They were right. I can run on stage 1-3 fine. Stage 4 and i get fuel rail codes. Basically the electric fuel pump in the tank cant keep up. An $800 upgrade if i want the issue to be fixed. From what im hearing, this doesnt happen on every install. I would rather keep the kit on and save my fuel system than run on stage 4. However, i think this is very misleading to customers. Ive spoke to company many times and all they do is blame it on something else. Would i recomend this product? I cant really say, not untill my pump goes out, theres no way to tell if it will work. Anyway guys. Beware if you have tuner and you install. You may need to upgrade pump as well.
The filter is pretty small, I would think this would restrict fuel follow, some of the other kits offer much bigger filters. Probably works fine with stock set
Hey Dan, great video. I plan to order the complete kit, waiting for installation video 1st to see if I want to tackle myself. I was a bit confused on the fuel delivery to pump heads...I'll watch again. If I understand correctly, in stock form, all of the fuel is delivered to the crank case (cc), of the CP4.2, then up to the metering valve for distribution right? Also, your kit divides/splits fuel delivery between the CC and MPROP? My question is this...if the CC is solely lubricated by the incoming fuel, can you risk premature wear by reducing the amount of fuel that's delivered which is the sole method of lubrication? Also, if the pump heads have clean fuel delivered directly to them, how long does the fuel delivered to the CC stay there as its no longer sent to the MPROP/pump heads? I assume back through the return but that normally happens slower hence pressure build up? Sorry, not my intention to doubt, just concerned and want to easy my mind which over thinks everything. Thanks for your time, I hope my question/concern made sense
This is also my concern. Very interested in getting a kit but curious as to what happens with CC fuel now? Is it just ported back to tank or recirculates threw filter an pump again?
@@taithawken4218and BIll Waterhouse, I too have the same questions. I assume the relief valve would be exercised much more of the time now that the CC is not supplying fuel to the pump heads....?

What about the fuel in the crank case of the pump? Does it flow in and out some other way? If not that fuel that stays in there would definitely get hot
Jacob, fuel is still supplied to and returned from the crank case of the pump, giving the pump a constant fresh supply of fuel that us properly pressurized (as long as your lower pump is doing its job) so it can be regulated and returned through the exo filter incase of a CP4 failure. In the event of the failure of the CP4 all returned fuel, and in this case debris, will be routed to the exo filter to limit the debris from cycling through the system and wiping out your fuel cooler, lower pump, injectors, ect. When the truck sees that there is a excess build up of pressure on the return side or limit in supply of fuel you will get a CEL and should immediately pull over and check your exo filter. Without our DPK in the event of a CP4 failure there would be nothing except the screen on the volume control valve on top of the CP4 to rely on to stop the debris before it went to your injectors and then returned to the rest of the fuel system.
If you're bypassing the pump crankcase that has the return line regulator built into it, how are you regulating the new filtered fuel line coming straight off the fuel filter?
My thoughts exactly, I don't see the purpose behind the parallel fuel line. I get the fact that it will be clean filtered fuel going to the pressure reg. valve, but it's not high pressure fuel?
Question...What happens if the pump fails and the return line filter plugs up? Won’t the lift side pressure just go to max? Will codes be thrown before this happens? What alerts the driver that the pump is failing?

Let's say you have this kit installed, how do you know when your CP4 has shit the bed? Does the return fuel line pull up a code when the screen is blocked? Good video and I'll be looking to get one of these kits soon.
One issue I’m interested in is also installing a fuel bowl delete for the issues these trucks are having with burning them down. The line you have that comes back to the stock filter will there be an issue with that?

@smaksymiv4950 it's inevitable.... It'll eventually happen. No matter how well filter and screen your fuel. CP4 design is no good. When it fails, go with the DCR
ATS from Colorado makes flanges that can be welded to either side of the DPF section of your exhaust system. This allows removal for cleaning. Any decent welder or exhaust shop would be able to do the welding for you.

SPE, Do you recommend adding the EXERGY CP4.2 INLET METERING VALVE (MPROP) to this kit too? I have the competition’s disaster kit, but will not install it after seeing your video. I am buying SPE kit instead!
Just so everybody out there is aware I purchased this kit. It was missing the diverter valve that goes on top of the fuel pump. I had to wait over a week for this part to come in. I connected everything back together the truck would not start I tried. And try and the vehicle would not start so I took it all apart again went back to the factory connections, leaving the disaster kit laying off to the side started the truck it took about 20 to 30 seconds. The truck fired up. I ran it for about a minute and then went right back and connected the disaster kit And everything ran fine so if this system is open for any time at all, you would have to go back to the factory connections, fuel lines, and everything start the truck and then repeat the process for installing the disaster kit. It cannot be open for more than a few minutes otherwise, for some reason it does not start with a disaster kit Installed.

That return filter is very small. It looks like it would get clogged up quickly. And , if it is teeing together with a pressure release from the rail, is it possible that debris could enter the rail from this filter connection ? And is that little screen capable of withstanding the pressure and flow coming out of the pump and the rail at the same time ? Seems like it might get blown out. Why not produce a demonstration with your kit hooked up as well as pressure gauges attached to people could see how it is performing ?

The removal and install of the factory parts is the hardest part of this. Actual installation of the kit once you have everything off the truck needed should be much less than an hour. I will provide a link to another UA-cam video that covers installation with some tricks and tips as well.

SPE,
Do you recommend adding the EXERGY CP4.2 INLET METERING VALVE (MPROP) to this kit too? I have the competition’s disaster kit, but will not install it after seeing your video. I am buying SPE kit instead!
Hi Edmund, if you want to add it you can but it's not necessary.
I’ve heard enough. Just bought the whole kit. Now I need one of those hard pipe kits modern diesel Cory got.
Thanks. The piping kits are on the site now too. Here’s the link- www.spemotorsport.com/products/spe-motorsport-6-7-powerstoke-intake-piping-kit?_pos=4&_sid=e31c84818&_ss=r
@@SPEMotorsport just seen that. Won’t be to long and I’ll have that as well!
Just ordered both. Can't wait to get it installed
I installed this on my 2015 a couple of weeks ago, now I have a NO START, I took it off and put everything back stock and still NO START. I cannot figure out what has happened
What happened
@@BigPowerstrokeguy had to tow it in to a shop that installed an s&s kit
How much is it and where can I get it?
The 11-16 and the 17-19 kits are $419, and the 20+ kit is $390, also you can find them at this link! -> www.spemotorsport.com/collections/powerstroke-fuel-systems
Does the kit void your warranty?
No but the Orings inside aren't rated for Diesel fuel apparently. Mine was leaking after 8 months.
NAILED IT
do you need one for a cp3
This is specifically designed for the CP4 on the 6.7L Powerstroke. We have no intentions of designing one for the CP3s. Sorry.
Make the damn fitting for the main fuel line a 90°, just installed one of these today and that pvc line kinks.
I would hate to drill or cut any part of a Truck (unless there's no other option) so this product might be worth getting or consider.
That's what I'm waiting for before I order this kit. Thanks for bringing this up.
@@billymann5325 I don't mean to disparage anyone's product but they need to step up and prove that it works the way they suggest it does and not expect that people should just trust that I will. They're a tiny unknown company that could be a fraud for all we know. There's a lot of money at stake here. Should be worthwhile to have a independent lab test it.
@@johnmazza9432 I know that they are very reputable, but I agree with testing this product for everyone to see for there own eyes in front of the camera. Were waiting on you now SPE!
Does Top Corey approve this message?
So fass has a complete system at $799.99 vs $419 for the spe pros I guess is yours is plug and play vs a install fee of $399 on fass.
FASS does not help with a grenaded CP4. Install is simple too.
Good. ....
I'll be interested in a 20 kit when they come available. Nice clean kit and well thought out.
Thanks. Those will be available soon.
Los if good questions on here I’d like to see answered.
Good system
I need to get this done.
But do you DS
@@codyphillips48 idk
GOT ONE!
Hmm $400 or $10,000 , which is the better deal.. I'll take $400! Since mine is already deleted, might as well do all I can to make it last as long as possible. I think this is a better choice than adding a pre/post-filter/water separator from the other company, no guarantee it won't let DEF or water get past an into the pump.
More like 3400 in parts and its really not all that hard if ur egr is gone
So far, not so good. Very careful installation but truck will not restart. In communication with another man who has the exact same problem and his truck has been down a month. He’s called customer service/tech and gotten not real help - this is not looking good. I’ll be calling y’all for help, hopefully I can get some🙈
