- Here it is everyone the CCV reroute kit form SPE Motorsport. In this video we demonstrate how to install the kit and how I routed the hose. I did have a bit of scare as well removing my Ccv box so pay attention so no parts fall inside your engine. Disclaimer this video is for example purposes a factory ccv box is required to remain emissions compliant.

Definitely recommend this mod for all diesel engines, just want to make sure there are no low spots in the hose to allow oil to pool up and create a restriction.. that is the reason some people experience oil gasket leaks after a mod like this. And I also would not recommend an inline oil catch can on the hose for the same reason.. any air/ vapor flow restrictions can create too much pressure build up in the crank case and will start relieving pressure from gaskets and seals. Great video 👍🏼
Hell yea my man! Good video! Quality product as well!!
Appreciate it brother rig is coming along
Being a diesel mechanic on the big rigs do not make that hose to long or it will freeze in the winter and blow the seals on your engine or cause your turbo to pump oil into intake causing engine runaway.
Depends where you live but you can run it to a catch can and or to the exhaust but not likely to blow out the turbo seals there is no clamp on the discharge where the hose goes on it will pop the hose off before it would blow seals up
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA Any back pressure in the crankcase can cause the turbo not to drain and cause oil leakage in the intake or exhaust. On big diesel engines the oil separators are mounted to the engine to keep them from freezing or heated 12v. There is a lot of moisture moving out the vent on any engine. Thanks for the reply and the positive content.
What?!?😂
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA No, in cold climates condensation WILL freeze in the exhaust line and cause pressure in the crankcase. This can be serious. Ask me how I know! Anyways, make sure the line slopes downwards toward the exit.
@@paulmaxwell8851 mine I made it so pressure will just pop off the line if that were to happen half way down plus we don’t get weather like that here
That’s a great set up bro
This is perfect getting ready to install mine now!
There is an option to use the internal catch can then run the hose to your exhaust. Weld a bung in your exhaust at a 45 deg angle and have the exhaust flow scavenger the blow by. Then you don’t get the smell and the heat from the exhaust burns off the oil mist.
Did this option on my dad’s 2014 Powerstroke and I liked it so much I also did it in my Colorado 2.8 ZR2 Duramax.
At the same time we did the breather delete we tightened the loose bolts on the front cover which fixed the massive oil leak.
We also changed the upper fuel filter to a Baldwin conversion and lower fuel filters to Cat style.
Lastly we installed the disaster prevention kit for if/when the CP4 pump shits the bed.
I have seen people do the exhaust bung method
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA it works good and zero blow by smell or oil drips.
If you don’t have slight vacuum it will cause your turbo seals to go bad and that’s the main reason why you want to connect it to your exhaust.Bill Hewitt explained it very well in one of his videos.
@@powerstroke6.7 I plan on doing that but I have a hard time with how that would hurt turbo seals

Power Stroke Tech Talk with ARod has a video where he shows the two CCV box designs. One Filtered and One no Filtered. His video just showed how you can switch to the filtered box and then change out the filter as a maintenance item. He did show the optional internal catch can with the vent tube but he did not install it.
yup we are homies
What do you think about SPE hot side pipe
Sir I have S&B cold side pipe on my 22 f-450 6.7
Just a heads up when its cold outside it smokes alot from the hose
Big job done!! :)
Just ordered 2 of these
What style wheels are you running
Do they make this for the F150 3.0 diesel?
I'm so confused 😂i just learned the new 2022 ccv don't have a filter so what is the box doing? I've been going Back and forth on this and anymore not sure what to do! And one more thing is that you didn't clamp the house on the vent tube incase it would build up pressure and blow the tube off? Every other video shows guys clamping that hose on. Like I said very new to the diesel world!
How is the Catch Can working out for you?
I'd be curious how much JUNK you actually keep from running back into the intake .....about ready to take delivery of a 2023 7.3L gasser...already shopping for catch cans...
That carbon build up is not from the ccv. Its from the EGR. That being said the ccv does introduce alot of oil into the intake system.
Would you recommend running it into a venturi on a modified exhaust? I like the Idea of the kit, but I would rather not deal with any smell near the doors or cab of the truck?
yeah that is probably the best way with the extension I don't really notice it
why did you have to take it off and put factory back on?
I wish I would have had something like this for my 6.0. Every time I removed the cac boots there was oil in the pipes. I removed the intake at 90k miles and it was caked with sludge and I ran 15w40 T6 every 5k miles.
Yeah the egr makes a mess too
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA previous owner removed mine
Sooo has it proven itself or is it garbage? Did you do the whole disaster kit?
Why did you have to remove it?
If you're in freezing climates that hose will definitely freeze up I have Volkswagens with the tdi I did a similar thing but I didn't even run the hose that far and it froze on me a few times next thing you know there's all kinds of smoke rolling out the tailpipe and VW even incorporates a little heater in CCV tube plus the fumes you just can't get away from them they're so strong smelling they always roll back into the car. I think piping it into the exhaust is possibly the most effective way. Hope you don't get in Sub-Zero temperatures.
Perfect job I was wondering how much does your truck weigh
8.133 lbs is what I would thing I haven't weighed it
I would worry about the egr before crank case vent it’s desiel it’s supposed to burn oil
🔥🔥🔥
Did you forget that there is an EGR? that is where your soot comes from. I work on stock and modified Powerstrokes. Don't modify your engine. Nothing but trouble with these. When he puts a tuner in he will twist the gear on the crank.....stay tuned.
Great channel & Video bro. Question… I’ve got a 2022 F-350 as well. It just hit 2k miles. Does any of the stuff you’re doing void the warranty? I want to do all this to save my truck from future junk
Thanks for watching in order to void the warranty s failure has to be a direct result of an aftermarket component causing it some dealers are dumb about stuff but those are the rules there is a sticker under the hood stating that too
This mod ABSOLUTELY voids the warranty, it is also quite illegal as it is removal of an emissions component.
@@benjaminconnolly5655Illegal….maybe if you live in some overbearing leftist state. I don’t know where you live, but in places that still function like the USA there are millions of free people who delete/modify inefficient and detrimental emissions equipment on their cars and trucks every year. There’s an entire aftermarket performance industry dedicated to it. Pretty much everyone where I live has all the emissions control garbage removed from their diesels. The ones who don’t just have it there because the truck is under warranty.
So what good is this considering that the EGR just dumps more crud in? Not trying to be a wise-guy, just asking. I know about catch-cans having owned two 3.5L EB engines, but the EGR is a bigger issue with the intakes on our diesels, is it not? Could you do an inline catch-can like we did on the EB engines and not vent to atmosphere?
One other thing to note is that my truck (2017 F-250, King Ranch, 4x4) has never dropped the oil level between changes (roughly 5k mi) and I have no leaks of any kind. About to hit 155k on the odometer.
Ideally yes the egr is still an issue it just takes the oil component out of the equation and you can run a catch can but with the catch can in my valve cover no oil came out the tube anyway
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA Thank you for the response. I had considered an in-line can for a while now, but I never bit the bullet due to bigger things, such as the EGR dumping coal into the intakes or the CP4 failure problem. FWIW, my CP4 is still okay, but I use OptiLube XL in every tank (4oz/20gal). I am saving for the new DCR pump now!
Already did dat shit, don't like the smoke coming out though. May have to figure something out. Thought about a filter but felt like it might obstruct the flow.
same lol when its below 50 mine smokes alot more than I would want
@discordcriminal put a bung into the exhaust or run it all the way down the cab to the bed and you won’t smell it in the cab anymore
@@user-ql4op7hx8f a what into my what 😳
that extension created a trap for the oil when you turned it upward against gravity. eventually youll have oil spots.
Nothing yet
Good looking John Deere back there! 830?
Is this a problem for states where you cannot delete or modify your diesel emissions or is this something that will not be an issue?
emissions is federally mandated. So all states require the emissions on diesels.
If you are worried about it, route it back into the intake where it originally went. Hopefully, if that added piece is doing it's job, most of the oil has been caught and is going back into the engine. Hook it up so that the little that is left goes back into the intake like the original did.
While the crud that can go into the intake can get it dirty over time, the big issue is when the CCV filter gets clogged over time which then doesn't let the air out so that pressure starts building up inside the crankcase. If you have a gasket that has a weak spot, over time it could cause the engine to get a pretty substantial oil leak. Mine was clogged up at 45k and I really didn't want to put a part back on that was going to do the same thing again. Hopefully the newest ones finally have a decent design (?) but the '11-'20 will need to be serviced at some point and probably sooner than you think...
At the very end he said “Greta won’t let me keep it or or I would”
@@Battleworthy91Federally mandated on NEW vehicles being sold from manufacturers. The federal government has zero authority on what the owner does to his vehicle with aftermarket parts. There are no federal agents going around banging on John Citizens door to issue court ordered emissions testing for privately owned vehicles. The federal government has no such authority. That you believe they do is pretty scary.
They say the fuel u use too can cause less carbonation too
Literally the same theory I was doing on my old 91 IDI
Unless your taking off your egr your not stopping the crud your showing? The newer ccv’s have no filter that plugs like older models, there is a lot of decently supported data talking about changing the back pressures etc on this engine, had the kit and removed it after 1500 km as I had troubles due to it. To each his own………but the 90% of the black crud is the egr, it enters right at your throttle plate that you showed.
Yeah the problem is the oil coats it then the egr soot sticks to it in my s&s vid I showed how much oil was in my pipes already
What issues did you have?
That soot is from the EGR mostly. The ccv is just oily gas. Definitely should not be soot in the engine.
Yeah they make a nasty combo but was enough oil for me to not want more in there
Put that exhaust pipe right before ur rear tire , 😂 really get that oil in ur tire for that extra credit drift points.
lol I have it pretty far back no oil comes out of it tho so just dry drift for now
I wonder if this is covered by some clean air act. Didn’t another channel get fined $$$$$ for showing mods to their diesel engine.
Greta made me take it off
Wish the manufacturers would use S.O.A pistons. Then there would be zero soot.
I welded a Venturi fitting into my exhaust and all that nasty smelling smoke gets pulled out the tailpipe
Good idea
Get rid of the belly in the hose it will gather water oil or anything
Waste of time and effort taking the intake off to clean the soot and oil. Once the CCV is open vented it will not buildup any more. And there wasn’t enough buildup worth doing all that work.
My hose is routes down and into the frame rail
it was apart for the S&S disaster prevention kit
All that oil is not as hard on the engine as the build up from the recirculated EGR gases that build up that harden the oil in your intakes. EGR gases do the same in any gasoline engine, ending in clogged lines and passages.
Yup that needs work as well
EGR be damned. We can thank the good oil communist inspired EPA.
Why are fords so complicated.
Sincerely Cummins owner.
😅
I think SPE is horrible to deal with.
Agreed had many issues with them but customer service is horrible everywhere though.
Takes them 30 years to ship your order
Yea that's illegal in every state, emissions altering is a no no, draft tubes are the best, I just would not put it on UA-cam
Just a demonstration I don’t make the kit
99% of diesel trucks in the world dump their crankcase vapor to atmosphere
Mexico India china ect
Only in America,
We are making plastic junk , get your old stuff rebuilt while you can
1982 Chevy 229 for life
I have a 57 John Deere
Greta says a lot of things
Just to us though
Too bad Greta won’t let you keep that. If it wasn’t for her I would have done the weight loss program on CCV EGR and DPF to go along with my DCR conversion. So much wasted power and fuel economy. 😉
Yeah too bad we can’t or our trucks would be so much more efficient and last longer would actually be good for the environment
@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA I’m thinking about doing it anyway. Good thing I follow the current laws in my county that does not require Emmision inspections.
@@schmittybuilds1624just do it. The bs emissions youll supposedly save is made up for by the horrendous mpg you get when towing. If you can burn buildings in a “peaceful” protest, stop highway traffic by standing in it, steal from a grocery store without consequences, then you can damn well do what you want to your vehicle! Show up to my door talking about emissions equipped and you’ll meet my second amendment right to let you know you’re trespassing.
do not recommend this mod, most of them cause more problems than they solve. who cares about a little oil, diesel burns oil. it's just another thing to get plugged/clogged up and cause serious issues. just let it get burnt up.
what are you worried about a little buildup on the inside of your pipes and intake components? it causes absolutely no harm, don't be scared of a little residue.
Might want to work on the video title! Can be ‘read’ tow ways…. Stop using this product or you’ll kill your engine or use this product to keep from killing your engine.
Fords goal, make it with more parts, parts equal money on parts. Stupid
What I don't understand is all of these UA-cam guys and gals do UA-cam videos on the regular and they always hold their video cameras rather than buying a $30 tripod that will hold the camera for them or hold their phone for them and they can put it anywhere it's got the legs that wrap around stuff it's got clips and all that kinds of stuff I mean I even have one and I don't even do videos
Because doing things one handed is the new koolaid. Because that's how the pro youtubers do it! lol
Because the tripods don’t always stand level or balanced on all surfaces especially if you have mics and lights added on top which makes it top heavy plus when you’re walking around and moving constantly in a video it’s a pain to keep adjusting the camera. It’s easier to just hold it.
@@DieselLegiance or get like a head mount that will point where you're looking at something like that It just seems like it's a lot to record without some kind of like tripod or something to hold the phone It seems like a lot of extra moving around and everything
