  • This is my favorite way to edit #motioncapture data using #Blender and #AutoRigPro and motion data from Mixamo.com
Motion capture may sound easy and time saving, but take it from me, it's not! Once you attach that data to your character there will always be tons of problems! In this video I will show you step by step how to overcome those problems. It all starts by building an IK/FK rig that can bake your motion capture data into keyframes that you can edit later. Please post any questions you have down below.

Clean audio and announcing keyboard shortcuts was really helpful. Did end up watching this on my phone and thought about but didn't feel the need to transfer to my desktop. Subscribed. Keep it up!

Hey! Came here specifically looking for what ended up being the "decimate" and "smooth" functions for keyframes to make the mocap easier to work with; didn't know you could do that! Thanks! I noticed you were trying to scale the rig control shapes because they were in the mesh; in case you weren't aware, while in pose mode (or selecting the rig in object mode), if you click on the Rig menu in the bottom right (the one with the green armature above the bone), you can click Viewport Display > In Front to show the rig controls over the mesh (works for any bones/armatures too, not just ARP).

Thanks mate. I used a Mixamo animation that has a lot of random height fluctuations. Like it starts at a position that if I put his feet on the floor the end pose is like floating in the air, the animation forward movement is messed up too. Using Animation Layers to solve the issues was a piece of cake. The mocaps from Mixamo are far from perfect but, hey, they are free.

Answering my own problems. After some tests the scale is responsible for inaccurate height data moving the rig up or down in comparison to the original animation. Auto-Scale didn't work for me in this case and the scale needs to be adjusted manually.

Hello, if you have time, can you please make a video describing how to Sculpt and hook up Corrective shapes for the AutoRig Pro rig? I don't understand the AutoRig Pro Artell made?

Thanks for the insightful tutorial. However, whenever I try to retarget using the autorig pro set up, my character's shoulders become "bunched up," like he is shrugging. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

Newbie here. What is it that you imported from Mixamo very first that you were editing at 3:16 with the distorted face? In the intro I downloaded the FALL FLAT ON NINJA and can follow along from 5:52 onward, but not before. Thanks!
