    • @Junko1846
      @Junko1846 Місяць тому +1

      Most retired people are on a fixed income from a retirement pension from the military for example. When grocery prices go up and so does the energy bill. Prescription drugs are also very expensive in America. For them being on a fixed monthly income they might be forced to choose between essential things every month. I had a few of my friends retire from the military recently and they already have another job because the pension checks aren’t enough to cover all the monthly bills.

      Charlie is not representing the Republican Party, so it's doesn't matter. You're not supposed to love your politician. You're supposed to choose what policies they offer that benefit your life to be better. For example, in 2021, IRS data shows Trumps tax breaks benefitted the working and middle class the most. Yet Dems lied and said it was only for the Rich. That was never true according to the IRS. Google that fact. Biden policies has not only created the worst economy ever in US history, it has created the most poor the US has ever seen, especially when you add the 10-12 million illegals that came in with no where to go, no money, being invited by Democrats just to end up homeless in the US. As so many have. Now NY wants them out I guess, after the voted to bring them in just 3 years ago. See my point? Do you want more money in your pocket, or more poverty? I want more money. It's expensive, and I'd like to get rid of the people making us more poor. And nothing I said is factually incorrect.

      @@JohnnyTromboner The inflation rate will never go into the negative numbers; however, I think people would be happy to go back to the average inflation rate under the previous administration of 1.9% rather than the average inflation rate of 5.7% under Biden's administration. I don't completely believe the 5.7% inflation rate they show for the current administration because I remember it being as high as 8% for a few months in 2022. I keep track of that because I'm on social security and our cost of living adjustments are based on the inflation rates of the previous year and the government gave us a 3.5% cost of living adjustment and I have no clue what month they chose to use because every month in 2022 was between 5% and 8%. Then they gave us that 3.5% and took about one third of that back by charging seniors a higher rate for part B coverage that they take out of your social security check before you receive it. I never understood the part B $amount because I also have to pay an additional $180 per month for a Medicare advantage plan to cover my part B, part C and part D expenses anyway. That money they take out for part B basically just goes back to them and then they brag about the large raise they gave seniors. What's worse is that many seniors don't realize their raise is actually a cost of living adjustment that is supposed to be determined by the inflation rate and they say "Biden gave us the biggest raise in years. He cares about us seniors". No he doesn't or we would have gotten the 8% we were paying out for several months in 2022.

Now they're 12oz and some are 10oz. CPI doesn't account fro that shrinkage. It doesn't account for candy bar shrinkage. It doesn't account of a jar of mayo going from 32oz to 30oz. This has been a problem with CPI, something that economists, left-and-right, have discussed (to my knowledge) since the 1980s. And the CPI is clear, we have inflation.

    When I was young a candy bar cost 5 cents and was upset when it went to a dime. A candy bar now is nearly $2 and is half the size as they used to be . That's about a 4000% increase without figuring in for "shrink-flation". Now explain how that dis-inflation works.

    I liked the economy under trump and many of his policies. I wish he was able to do more with making Healthcare costs more transparent.
    I Don't actually like trump. He's obnoxious and needs to think before he tweets. He gave his haters too much amo to hold against him. He was an extremely divisive leader who helped propel the extremists in both political parties to becoming more extreme.
    He is still beter than Biden and it's not like any of the other candidates are great.

    This is what takes me off about these college kids. They think their ideas are the way to think and the way to behave and they want society to change. However, they have not ever had to support anybody including themselves. They’ve never held a job. You know a career job to pay for bills and family. So how can you be so staunch in your stance before you’ve ever experienced what it really is to live in America. They’ve literally been protected their entire lives. Not a single one of them are independent.

    The honest reality is that wealth is a government construct/fallacy. One clear example: if we have discovered more gold and gems in the last century, how are they more valuable/expensive? They are literally less rare. Or an extension of that, how could our national wealth right now be greater than the worldwide wealth of 100 years ago?

You're a very smart young man and you're general personality seems very positive and you need to try keep being jovial. TBF, I think COVID and mass domestic migration, and by that I mean, people leaving cities, led to an artificial inflation of housing costs in a lot of markets. For example, a ton of people moved to my city late 2020 early 2021 from Chicago, it was during this time that prices SKYROCKETED, because people living in the city had a willingness to spend higher amounts on homes than what locals were willing to spend. I bought my townhome for 150k, today they're going for 230k+ and that only started during that "domestic migration" period, now we're stuck at that price because a lot of homes that were bought during the lock downs people are now trying to sell, but don't want to lose money, so they're charging the overinflated cost that they bought it for. Many cases where people were bidding 10s of thousands over asking price in areas where people were fleeing cities.
