PM64 has been available on every single console since its release except GameCube. The latest console that can play it is Switch. Meanwhile, Super is only on Wii and Wii U, the latter being the latest console its available on. So for availability, Super would be the best choice, especially since it would need to change Wii controls to normal controls. That being said, PM64 has the most to gain from a remake and is the gameplay we fell in love with in the first place.
tbh I prefer Super Paper Mario's gaming system. It's action but It's easy af. I didn't know how to complete TTYD back in the day. but I completed SPM. I like TTYD and 64's gaming system too. but personally, SPM's 2D 3D gaming system is my favorite. but It was always fun to read goombella's dialogue.
@@quas3728 There's nothing particular wrong with Super Paper Mario's gameplay in and of itself, but it's kind of bare bones. Everyone's experience is more or less the same. In TTYD and 64 you have the option to upgrade different stats (HP, FP, BP), and in SMRPG you have something similar, plus two characters you can swap out, plus all the different strategies and equippables. In Super Paper Mario there aren't any badges, isn't anything you can equip (not counting Floro Sprout, which might look neat but doesn't actually change anything), and all your level ups do the same thing. The only two legitimate gameplay styles are Mario + whatever Pixl you wanna use, and Bowser + Carrie. Don't get me wrong, I love the Bowser and Carrie combo, they're practically made for each other, but when that's your only other viable alternative strategy for playing the game, I don't think it creates a very thought-provoking experience. Also there's the bosses. A lot of the bosses just kind of suck. Fracktail and Wracktail are genuinely good, and King Croacus, Count Bleck, and the last Mimi fight are decent, but that's kind of it. O'Chunks is pretty bad, and Bonechill and Super Dimentio are absolutely atrocious, especially considering the great buildup to both of their fights. I just think they should have included more RPG elements in the gameplay. Doesn't have to be turn based, but there should've been more strategy.
Why not both? I’m a diehard Super Paper Mario fan and would LOVE to see it remade or even just ported, but Paper Mario 64 bursts with charm and seeing that updated would be lovely.
Would a remake of OG Paper Mario be nice? Yes, but it doesn't *need* it in the way that Super Paper Mario does. Freeing it from the confines of the wiimote alone would make a huge difference.

Honesty i think super paper mario should be remade. Extending its story would probably be more popular since it is a different concept than paper mario.
If they remake super paper mario they should add 3D for all characters, and being able to change the 3D camera perspective. And add some coop with a new pixl that copies protagonist and have a second player, or at least something like Mario Galaxy or Bowser's Fury.
I made a google document about everything they could do in an SPM remake. Theres a bit of dialogue that needs fixing (tippi recognizing dimentio is a localization mistake, a dialogue bubble makes peach look like shes saying bleck’s lines). The camera isnt movable in 3d. The backtracking is. On par with ttyd but regulated to level rather then chapter. I think the paper mario characters from ttyd and pm64 could use the graphical style of ttyd (switch) while the new cast and levels have the more computery aesthetic, to really sell that mario isnt in his world anymore, etc…theres too many things i want from a remake of spm. But mostly…**i just wanna see concept art of Mr L and super dimentio**
I would rather Super Paper Mario be ported or remastered and 64 be remade. Saying this as a big fan of Super Paper Mario for my favorite Paper Mario and game of all time. It doesn't need the remake treatment imo. BUT if it's the only option then I'd say it should be remade before 64 so they can wait a little longer before remaking 64. I do not want them to change Super drastically though if it can only get the remake treatment. I consider Super Paper Mario a form of the older tradition even if it wasn't gameplay wise. And while the gameplay isn't the same as TTYD and 64, I don't think it was nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Super has a lot of memorable characters, unique locations and a great story. I would hate to see Super made into a TTYD like game with a combat system as when you take away the 2D Platforming gameplay.... it really isn't... Super.
Agree. Super Paper Mario is great as is, and a remaster could make the game more balanced/polished. It might also reduce the cost and time it takes to get a new game. I would much rather like a new game in the style of Super Paper Mario since no other game is like it. Honestly, Thousand Year Door didn’t need a remake either. A remaster could have done everything the remake did and taken less time. The original Paper Mario is the only game that needed a remake, though I want a new game before they do that.
We can already play Paper Mario 64 on switch, and while i love SPM, I don't think it's the right time, considering how we *just* went back to the classic JRPG style. I would honestly rather have a new game in the 64 and TTYD style than another remake.
They DEFINITELY should do Paper Mario 64! Seeing the original game having new graphics similar to the TTYD remaster would be awesome. They could carry over some of the elements & such in the game to PM64 especially how TTYD has the classic file music & both nice idle animations for both Parakarry & Bow. While the original can be played on Switch (if bought the Online Expansion Pass), it would be great to see it look modern-ish like TTYD here. Plus having 2 of the best Paper Mario’s remastered on Switch would be awesome for both fans & would be great for Nintendo.

Id say Paper Mario, but i have a theory about Paper Mario 3 remake. Since TTYD ( 2004 kremake was 20 years later after the original, Paper Mario 3 will be remade around 2027, since the original was in 2007.

as much as i love 64, and how most people prefer 64 over super, i honestly hope it's super that gets a remake. that game really needs some fixes, and improvements so that this game can finally shine like its older cousins, but i can see 64 getting remaked - but still, i really don't want 64 that much because they'll do the same "papery remodel" like TTYD. Still, super would suffer even more with the "papery changes!" since the game has more of a "digital-computer" style to it, please keep it that way nintendo.
I'd be down for a pm64 remake solely if they gave it a post-game and ttyd remake progress tracking..... They could pull a skyward sword HD with SPM but it just wouldn't be worth a Nintendo $60 price tag unless it was a huge overhaul. Fun fact: I believe Super Paper Mario was originally going to be a spinoff game in the series, expanding upon the Bowser levels featured in TTYD but by the time they were halfway through development, the Wii was going to hit store shelves and they wouldn’t have the time or resources to start focussing on the next big turn based Paper Mario game, so they instead shifted towards making their platformer spinoff game into the next big game in the series. This is why the game was supposed to initially release on the GameCube only, but then shifted towards dual release, and then eventually a Wii exclusive.
Id want them to remake super paper mario cause I never played it and since I got a taste of the thousand year door on switch the 2d bowser segments were insanly fun to me so it makes me want to play super paper mario since it holds a similar concept!

I feel like remaking PM64 using the same engine as TTYD is probably the easiest route Nintendo can take, which I’m all for. Hopefully someday we’ll get all 3 of the OG Paper Marios remade in HD. Hell, maybe they can somehow add turn based combat to SPM (I know it’s wishful thinking lol)

I would like both. But for Paper Mario 64, I would keep it the same as it originally was, while also added features and update hardware for an much more smoother ride. As for Super, keep the story, characters & music the same, but rehaul the gameplay tremendously and the designs of an chapter & levels because most were severely obnoxious & tedious.
Original game next along with Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. I’ll be happy with a Super Paper Mario remake as long as they change a few minor nitpicks that I have with the original Wii version
This is not even a competition - the original deserves a fresh modern remake. It's the one that started it all, has the best story, and the overall world immersion is far better than super.
Honestly, I'd much prefer if they didn't remake any more games and instead just gave us a new one in the classic style. I don't necessarily need turn based battles though. I always thought paper mario would be a lot of fun as more of an action rpg where you select your moves on the fly. Basically like Super but fleshed out a lot more.

Exactly, and they could just do a DLC for TTYD, because most of the gameplay elements are based of the OG, Super needs it more because it's different than the other game that could benefit for improvement, like they could have an option where you can fight in a real RPG system instead of hitting them a couple of times to make them vanish.
I definitely firmly believe super paper mario deserves a remake more. Dont get me wrong, i want a paper mario 64 remake as well, but that game has been on every virtual console since virtual console started, its playable right now on switch. Meanwhile, super is on the wii and hard to get, just like ttyd before its remake alot of people cant experience super right now, unlike the first game.
I just want them to both be ported and downloadable on the switch, for a reasonable price (and not tied to a subscription service). But barring that, remake PM64 and port SPM.
Not really, I think it’s fairly possible. They can easily use a lot of the current TTYD assets for a 64 remake. I think that’s the easiest next step for Nintendo.

I mean I think both would be cool, though the original Paper Mario is already on the Switch online, so it seems very unlikely that'll get a remake any time soon. As for Super Paper Mario, that's even harder to say. While people have appreciate it over time, I don't think a lot of people really talks about Super as much as the original or new Paper Mario games. It's like the forgotten child. But here's hoping Nintendo will surprise us like they did with TTYD's remake.

Paper Mario 64 need a remake, the game is really too old now, of course i want Super Paper Mario because that was my firts Paper Mario and that was really good and original.. but men Paper Mario 64 really need a remake and i would be really happy to play this game in the style of TTYD Remake, that would be great update.., but Super Paper Mario would be more simple to do i think.
The original is already on NSO. I also feel like Thousand-Year Door makes the original game kind of redundant, given that the original's gameplay was more or less a prototype to Thousand-Year Door. Thousand-Year Door refined many aspects of the original's game design. Super Paper Mario, on the other hand, is a completely different type of game, and I feel like it could definitely use an overhaul… specifically with the clumsiness in having to flip through menus constantly just to switch Pixls/characters… not to mention trimming bits such as the infamous hamster wheel in Chapter 2. It was a fun game back in 2007, but man… Super is REALLY rough in certain spots.
we should wait for the new console before we want any remakes. Switch 2 whatever it'll be called is bound to be able to handle things better, and it could be the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS. 60 FPS is always better even if it's not required.
Super Paper Mario does have a lot of flaws, but Paper Mario 64 really needs a remake more. The graphics are outdated and it could really use the origami king treatment like the TTYD. I can't even play mine anymore. All the saved data keeps getting deleted. Plus 64 is a real rpg compared to Super.
Super Paper Mario should absolutely come first, that game's story is phenomenal and I know they could make the gameplay even better, it's very underrated and SERIOUSLY needs to get into the spotlight.

How about this gameplay from Super Paper Mario should be a separate series it should stick to the the label of Super Paper Mario that way everyone knows it's a 2d platformer rpg and that way its name brings to mind that Super Mario Bros is a 2d platformer Mario game and then the non Super Paper Mario can be an rpg then if for some reason Nintendo doesn't want to do another Paper mario rpg game and still wants to call it paper mario then they should then give it a separate naming scheme to differentiate ot from the rpg games then that way there's no reason to expect an rpg or just rebrand the rpg Paper Mario games to Paper Mario rpg its just a thought I had after watching the video which made sense to me for Nintendo to separate the gameplay styles of the different Paper Mario games that way it's obvious what kind of Paper Mario game it is from the name alone and doesn't leave to confusion or have some feeling like they were lied to kinda like how the other Mario games have different names to the kind of game they are for example Mario Kart is obviously a racing game cant confuse that with a platforming Mario game.

I hope Paper Mario 64 get a remake really fast after the second Mario Bros Movie, the gameplay is plretty similare than TTYD, im pretty sure Nintendo can make 64 better than before and, oh my lord i dream about Sprite in remake HD..., but yeah it would be really gpod to see Super Paper Mario too, because that was my first Paper Mario, but lord Paper Mario 64 is old and i dont want to play this game now, im just waiting so hatd for a remake one day..
I would like both. But for Paper Mario 64, I would keep it the same as it originally was, while also added features and update hardware for an much more smoother ride. As for Super, keep the story, characters & music the same, but rehaul the gameplay tremendously and the designs of an chapter & levels because most were severely obnoxious & tedious.
Original game next along with Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. I’ll be happy with a Super Paper Mario remake as long as they change a few minor nitpicks that I have with the original Wii version
This is not even a competition - the original deserves a fresh modern remake. It's the one that started it all, has the best story, and the overall world immersion is far better than super.
Super Paper Mario gets too much hate, it's a beautiful game with an amazing story, and i'd argue it deserves a remake MORE than the OG
Honestly, I'd much prefer if they didn't remake any more games and instead just gave us a new one in the classic style. I don't necessarily need turn based battles though. I always thought paper mario would be a lot of fun as more of an action rpg where you select your moves on the fly. Basically like Super but fleshed out a lot more.
The real time combat sections in Origami King would work well for an action RPG, and it's what that game kept making me want
I disagree. Turned-based is more suited for Paper Mario in general. Not disliking the way Super changes it. But it's overly simplistic & unpolished.

I guess what I meant to say is that if I wanted an Action RPG in a Mario game, I rather be it's own series than in Paper Mario cause doing it in Paper Mario would be way too predictable for the series to handled. I guess make it like the Metroidvania style Castlevania games does; with or without out the Metroidvania genre I supposed.

i don't think they will do the original mainly because it's already on the N64 classics, although super paper mario might me an interestig one if they did, but the real question is what will be the future for paper mario?

Exactly, and they could just do a DLC for TTYD, because most of the gameplay elements are based of the OG, Super needs it more because it's different than the other game that could benefit for improvement, like they could have an option where you can fight in a real RPG system instead of hitting them a couple of times to make them vanish.

I definitely firmly believe super paper mario deserves a remake more. Dont get me wrong, i want a paper mario 64 remake as well, but that game has been on every virtual console since virtual console started, its playable right now on switch. Meanwhile, super is on the wii and hard to get, just like ttyd before its remake alot of people cant experience super right now, unlike the first game.

Not really, I think it’s fairly possible. They can easily use a lot of the current TTYD assets for a 64 remake. I think that’s the easiest next step for Nintendo.

@@carnage0685How?? The TTYD remake looks very different from the original GC version, just with the same art-style as current PM games like Origami King. Doing the same thing to PM64 while keeping the story/gameplay the same should not be an issue.
@@JoseAndradeTAMU Um? The characters look a lot more similar to TTYD's artstyle than Origami King's. And besides, 64's artstyle is noticeably different from TTYD and its remake. Using the TTYD remake's artstyle would completely destroy part of the original game's identity.

I mean I think both would be cool, though the original Paper Mario is already on the Switch online, so it seems very unlikely that'll get a remake any time soon. As for Super Paper Mario, that's even harder to say. While people have appreciate it over time, I don't think a lot of people really talks about Super as much as the original or new Paper Mario games. It's like the forgotten child. But here's hoping Nintendo will surprise us like they did with TTYD's remake.
We still don't know if Switch 2 will have the entire Switch Online catalog or we will have to start from scratch again (Like the virtual console from Wii to Wii U)
Paper Mario 64 need a remake, the game is really too old now, of course i want Super Paper Mario because that was my firts Paper Mario and that was really good and original.. but men Paper Mario 64 really need a remake and i would be really happy to play this game in the style of TTYD Remake, that would be great update.., but Super Paper Mario would be more simple to do i think.
Paper Mario 64 is already on the Switch Online, so Super Paper Mario is an easy choice.
The original is already on NSO. I also feel like Thousand-Year Door makes the original game kind of redundant, given that the original's gameplay was more or less a prototype to Thousand-Year Door. Thousand-Year Door refined many aspects of the original's game design.
Super Paper Mario, on the other hand, is a completely different type of game, and I feel like it could definitely use an overhaul… specifically with the clumsiness in having to flip through menus constantly just to switch Pixls/characters… not to mention trimming bits such as the infamous hamster wheel in Chapter 2. It was a fun game back in 2007, but man… Super is REALLY rough in certain spots.
Super Paper Mario is my favorite game of all time, and I would love to see it get a remake.
we should wait for the new console before we want any remakes. Switch 2 whatever it'll be called is bound to be able to handle things better, and it could be the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS. 60 FPS is always better even if it's not required.
Super Paper Mario does have a lot of flaws, but Paper Mario 64 really needs a remake more. The graphics are outdated and it could really use the origami king treatment like the TTYD. I can't even play mine anymore. All the saved data keeps getting deleted. Plus 64 is a real rpg compared to Super.

Super Paper Mario should absolutely come first, that game's story is phenomenal and I know they could make the gameplay even better, it's very underrated and SERIOUSLY needs to get into the spotlight.

How about this gameplay from Super Paper Mario should be a separate series it should stick to the the label of Super Paper Mario that way everyone knows it's a 2d platformer rpg and that way its name brings to mind that Super Mario Bros is a 2d platformer Mario game and then the non Super Paper Mario can be an rpg then if for some reason Nintendo doesn't want to do another Paper mario rpg game and still wants to call it paper mario then they should then give it a separate naming scheme to differentiate ot from the rpg games then that way there's no reason to expect an rpg or just rebrand the rpg Paper Mario games to Paper Mario rpg its just a thought I had after watching the video which made sense to me for Nintendo to separate the gameplay styles of the different Paper Mario games that way it's obvious what kind of Paper Mario game it is from the name alone and doesn't leave to confusion or have some feeling like they were lied to kinda like how the other Mario games have different names to the kind of game they are for example Mario Kart is obviously a racing game cant confuse that with a platforming Mario game.

Remaking Super Paper Mario would be a dream come true. I don't care for N64 and also because it's literally on the switch already. Granted, by the Switch online membership but still. I think that SPM could work with the console.

Paper Mario is an older game, but would definitely lose a bit of its own style. So I’m hesitant to really say if it would be a good idea to remake something to be visually worse.
