Fun fact: Brad Pitt actually injured himself when he jumped into the trash. The cast on his arm is REAL and he wears it for the rest of the movie.
Ik
Another fact. The film was filmed out of sequence so they had to cover up the fact his arm was in a cast and his hand was swollen in many scenes.
He tore tendons and had to wear a cast around his wrist.
@@thedragonlee76 Ouch.
@@starbrand3726 The tabloid show Inside Edition, showed the behind the scenes footage of his Injury when they were filming.
They just don’t make films like this anymore. A mastercraft
Yep. This film made David Fincher in Hollywood.
If you haven't already, watch Mindhunter on Netflix.
@@Shichiaikan But watch Hannibal first.
Apparently, the new Batman movie takes inspiration from this film. Just like how The Dark Knight takes inspiration from Michael Mann's Heat.
@@jp3813 I’ve seen the Batman and yes, there are some similarities but it’s pretty different too
When they found the Sloth victim and it turns out he was alive, none of the cast knew that was gonna happen. So all the reactions were real.
Before the movie came out, Kevin Spacey was not advertised to be in it at all. He didn't do interviews or promos for it. So when he appears, it's the first time you find out he's in the movie (unless you recognize him as the photographer, but his face is obscured).
This came out the same year as Usual Suspect. The guy was in the zone at the time. Then he did LA Confidential.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 best actor of the 90s
Probably one of my favorite movies ever. And the fact that The Batman (2022) appears to be taking inspiration from Se7en is so exciting. John Doe is just an amazing villain
I hope The Riddler plays a similar role to Doe. I don’t want Edward killed off but I think he might want to be to break Batman’s code & values similar to the one from “The Enemy Within” Telltale game.
He might reveal a dark secret about the Wayne family in relation with the Court of Owls, maybe Batman himself was a project of the CoO & Riddler reveals the truth to break his code.
You can see Batman pummeling Nygma (his glasses were in the shot) while Catwoman watches stunned. Maybe he gets what he wants in his own death proving Batman isn’t as honorable as he acts. Bruce is also pretty short-tempered during Year Two which is leading me to think this is the case even more.
@@Linator4 gues you were right
there is a reason this is a fucking classic its disgusting & tragic but soooooooooooooo well done
You had a great observation, that the movie is about 3 men who see how horrible things are but have 3 different ideas on what to do about it. Astute analysis!
Great point b
David Fincher knows how to make a psychological thriller
Ain't no other film like Seven.
You can spend time searching but you won't find it, a masterpiece. The city is the one of the most depressing and oppressive places ever depicted in a film, makes Gotham look like Barbados.
Depends on which version of Gotham. The Crow also had a very screwed up city.
Most people won't agree but anime Psycho Pass first season works on similar wavelengts. But it is not 90' criminal trhiller morle like future utopia thriller. Much less blood. But if you combine it with Ergo Proxy first part...
@@jp3813 Agreed, an amazing cult classic 🖤
"and he still has Hell to look forward to"
now that's a line
Se7en is one of those films that stick with you long after you've watched it. That's how you know it's a great movie.
Keep doing reactions to David Finchers' films, man. You did "Alien³", "Fight Club" and "Zodiac" already, and now "Se7en". I suggest you do "The Game" and "Panic Room" next.
One day!
I actually didn't know those were by the same person but I absolutely think he needs to do the game and panic room those are very good I wasn't fond of zodiac or not big on the alien series it's okay fight club had a good twist but it's not really my thing
if he wants to follow the investigation serial killer trend of zodiac and seven he should watch the girl with the dragon tattoo next. A very underrated Fincher movie
Don't forget Gone Girl!!!
@@inspectahdex yeah and the social network
If you haven't seen "Misery" already, you'd like it. Not a multi-victim serial killer hunt but it's crazy enough and the acting is top notch.
One of my favourite movies, along with Silence of the Lambs. I’m so glad you watched this one. I highly recommend the show Mindhunter on Netflix, it’s my favourite show!!
David Fincher's Se7en is a true masterpiece thriller. I saw this movie on a rainy opening day at an 8pm showing in Manhattan. I had no idea what I was in store for. I didn't know who David Fincher was and I didn't know much about the movie I was about to watch. But it left me speechless as it left you. Imagine seeing this in a packed theater and being in total disbelief of the ending. Not only that, the atmosphere of this film is beyond fantastic. It left an imprint on me and made me want to pursue my dream of filmmaking. Glad you finally watched it. Oh and Fincher also directed Zodiac. :-)
Ha, I was 7 when this was in theatre, so, I didn't have the pleasure. But, I did see it not long after it came out... Heh, I think I was 12 my first time seeing it. I appreciated it a lot even then, despite some of the themes being over my head.
Same I went in blind. I knew Fincher mostly from music videos then. I expected a kind of noir cop mystery but not this. Who expected this. I honestly was traumatized. Especially by the lust one. I still skip it.
But yeah, talk about effective story telling.
One of the best movies of all time
The score was terrific. Really set the mood for every scene with tension.
This is one of my favorite movies for a very big reason: Its one of the few in which the villain wins. He actually got everything he wanted. He won.
A Pyrrhic victory.
Just an amazing jaw-dropping film from beginning to end! It’s crazy how they never show any of the murders until Mills kills John Doe at the end. They just show you pictures of the aftermath with describing what happened. Your imagination makes it real to you. FYI if you watch it again pay attention to the opening credits in you’ll see John Doe using a razor to cut off his finger prints. Also the song they use during the credits is called Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Look it up and listen to the lyrics. It’s an amazing choice for unforgettable movie!
It's a remix of Closer.
Funny thing: Morgan Freeman would go on to play Lucius Fox in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy in 2005, but in the 1980's his profile as a dramatic actor took a HUGE step forward when he played a very sadistic pimp in a movie called "Street Smart" with the original Superman - Christopher Reeve!
So there you have it, he knows both BATMAN AND SUPERMAN!
Probably Brad Pitt's best performance
You gotta watch the Mindhunter TV series. Only 2 seasons so not that many episodes but it’s so good.
14:29 damn that's Dr. Cox leading the charge...never noticed him before
He is perfect for those roles he also plays a soldier (I don't know what rank) in Platoon.
Directed by David Fincher starring Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt in this mystery movie about a serial killer who tracks it's victims based on the seven deadly sins. Also featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey
Dude, there was nothing like watching this movie on the big screen when it came out, the cinematography, the tension, repulsion of all the murders(people had never something like this before in a big movie). When they went to the desert, you could feel people holding their breath in the theater. I've never experienced something like this since.
Same... I remember clearly sitting in the cinema during that moment thinking "where the fuck is this going???" and being totally enthralled by how surprising it was to not know in any way how this was going to end.
It was surreal in the theater. To share that cultural moment.
Honestly, I was traumatized. I still skip past the lust confession part.
, the SWAT-team actors were not told about the sloth victim still being alive.. so their reaction is genuine.
_Alien 3_ might've been David Fincher's film directorial debut, but _Se7en_ is the film where he had his first real chance to shine.
Saw this in the cinema , nobody moved at the end due to the shock.
I always find it concerning how people try to say the killer has a point, all his points are based on bias and Religious extremism. His reasoning for one guys torturous death was about how he'd be embarrassed to be seen with him cos of his appearance, like this guy and his points suck.
Not to mention the prostitute, like seriously.
If you can't handle different opinions then maybe stay off the internet
@@jay_black2649 I can handle different opinions, but its still be wierd & concernering for those opinions to stand with religious extremism, bias & psychopathy.
I agree Kyle Reese.
While I can understand the impetus to want to torture a child rapist ( not exactly sure how he got sloth from that one except maybe the not holding down a job) or wanting a pound of flesh from a lawyer, I don't condone murder. I certainly don't get the other victims.
Just a judgemental psycho.
If you're interested in serial killer stuff, two series to check out...#1-Mindhunter ( not so action heavy but psychological creepy) is excellent..#2- True Detective season 1 is all around fantastic, McConaughey is amazing in it. Just a couple suggestions you should check out even if not in a vid..worth the time investment
True detective s1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction to this classic. If it wasn't for SE7EN, we wouldn't know who David Fincher is in Hollywood. He survived Alien 3 to make this classic. 🎥
Idk if you’ve seen The Social Network but that movie’s one of David Finches masterpieces!
Edit: *Finchers
I like to think I can see where a film is going, but the twist ending completely fooled me. I'd forgotten all about the wife and that she would be used by the killer for envy and wrath, brilliant.
Mills: "Tell me, honestly, have you ever seen anything like this?"
Somerset: "No."
Serial killer movies to check out: Kiss The Girls (Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd), Copycat (Sigurney Weaver), Citizen X (Based on real serial killer Chikatilo), Animorph (Willem Dafoe), The Bone Collector and Taking Lives (both Angelina Jolie), Twisted (Ashley Judd), Alphabet Killer (Eliza Dushku).
Hell of movie. That ending is shocking.
I always loved how John Doe looked at David like he's crazy at 27:48
Flawless film. Start to finish. Only film to have the balls to end like that.
Saw this in 9th grade, stuck with me ever since!
Favorite movie till this day, and have watched it countless times.... They don't make movies like this anymore!
Another great Morgan Freeman horror movie is dreamcatcher. It's also one of my favorite Stephen King books.
Love this film. It's kind of a noir thriller...so dark....it stays with you after the first watch
Not sure if you're aware but there's a somewhat common fan theory that this film takes place in "pre-Batman" Gotham city. Fun thought.
Mindhunter on Netflix, also by David Fincher, is fucking excellent. I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed the cop duo with Morgan Freeman as this older and more mature figure as supposed to Brad Pitt who’s younger and more hot-headed. Both actors did fantastic
Some movies are just powerful
I watched this movie by myself in the dark completely focused on it and the part where everyone thought the guy was dead, then he starts coughing, scared the PISS out of me. I was so unprepared for that because this isn't a zombie movie or anything like that. I need another scene like that lol
Please react to The Crow (1994), Brandon Lee is the lead actor he is the son of Bruce Lee, it’s an amazing movie. This is Brandon Lee tragic performance, Lee got shot with pieces of residue from a blank bullet still stuck in the chamber of the prop gun, the prop crew didn’t clean the gun and didn’t check if the gun still had any residue which it did. The director and crew and actors all though that the scene went as planned but they saw Brandon on ground for a couple of minutes they thought he was playing a joke or something but he wasn’t, they walk towards him and turn him and see that Brandon was really shot for real so they rushed him to the hospital where doctors performed surgery but after they told the crew that Brandon Lee had passed away on March 31, 1993 Brandon Lee was only 28 years old. They still went ahead and finished the movie but some scenes are not Brandon they used his body double to finish the movie but they CGI his face.
29:03 Genius is the word you’re searching for but don’t want to say out loud
A detective from LA who had a 80 percent success rate has been investigating the zodiac killings for decades and believes that the person who killed the Black Dahlia also is the zodiac killer, due to similarities in mistakes in spelling, and locations.
If you enjoyed this, then you definitely must see Resurrection, starring Christopher Lambert. Just as intelligent, warped, violent and twisty. A great watch!
Morgan Freeman is presently 84. He was a largely unknown actor, doing mostly television work, when he got his breakthrough role in the 1987 movie Street Smart. At the age of 50!
There is sooo many good movies from the 80's and 90's 👍👍👍👍
Evil Dead, videodrome, the fly, naked lunch, re-animator...
Many of us have the same feeling you have after watching this and I’ve seen this movie many many times, but the “sloth” victim still scares me the shit out of me! For me this a classic, Morgan, Brad and David at their best! Great reaction!
My favorite scene is John Doe ( serial killer ) walking into Precinct, especially him screaming "Detective !!!!!"
I think Morgan’s first movie is Brubaker, he has a bit part. Good prison movie with Robert Redford.
btw i think you should check out christopher nolan's memento, a psychological thriller he made before batman and science fiction
If you like seven you'll love fallen with denzel washington
YES!!!!!!!!
You have to watch Shutter Island. All time great film with Leonardo Di Caprio and Mark Ruffalo. it’s on Netflix
He did!
@@MidgetStomper10 I literally watched that video as well
@@MidgetStomper10 I don’t know how I forgot
The world is a fine place. It's the people that fuck it up. This movie is a great examination of two perspectives set side by side. A world view that's black and white, and one that's gray. Of course it's the nuanced perspective that can cope, while the more naive perspective implodes.
Morgan even looks the same as when he was Easy Reader in 74!
You should definitely check out The Bone Collector . Great Denzel Washington movie ! Also about a serial killer
Yes! Love that film and have never seen anyone react to it (I think it's largely forgotten unfortunately).
the dead dog "...I didn't do that..." shouldn't have been as funny as it was :D
I laughed.
I recommend The Hitcher, Hannibal and Red Dragon for serial killer movies. For Morgan Freeman movies Glory,Deep Impact, Olympus has Fallen, Lucy, London Has Fallen, Lean on Me, Million Dollar Baby, Unforgiven, Oblivion, The Sum of All Fears, Outbreak, and Unleashed.
One of my fav Morgan Freeman movies is Lean on me. Based on a true story. I watched that movie goddess knows how many times.
I assume other people have recommended Mindhunter since you asked for serial killer TV shows? Really well done and based on real-life serial killers even though the protagonists are based on several different people.
Anytime I see a box at work.. I do my best Brad Pitt 🤣
The delivery driver was also the doctor in fight club that suggested the groups to Edward Norton character
David Fincher is a master when it comes to his movies. I love his movies so much. They are often dark and have a disturbing atmosphere, the images, the music, the characters, the actors performances. everything works perfectly together.
There's four psycho movies that are amazing. One of the big beginnings of serial killer movies that spawned the slasher genre. Most of the sequels are slashers because of the time gap between one and two.
If you want to add another serial killer movie to the list, check out Copycat from 1995. Great movie that was overshadowed by Se7en which came out the same year.
Yes!
I think you'd like The Bone Collector. Similar cat and mouse vibe and the dynamic of a new partner with an experienced investigator. It has Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.
A VERY good movie.
This movie is a masterpiece. I even enjoyed it more than The Silence of the Lambs (1991) BUT my favorite Thriller is still Copycat (1995)
Great one
I’ve known about the what’s in the box scene for years, never knew it was from this movie, but the instant I saw that box I knew I had finally figured it out, I didn’t even remember what happened in the scene, it’s just seeing the box and then guessing what was in the box just kinda clicked with the memory
SO...never saw the movie? :-O
as far as I'm concerned, this is a horror movie. It uses horror to great effect, and it's horror that spurs the drama and characters forward. it just has the trappings of a crime thriller
They form a Trinity. Somerset is the Father, Mills is the Son, and the killer is the (un)Holy Spirit.
I don’t understand why people think Brad Pitt over acted in the box scene when he was yelling what’s in the box. Put yourself in that situation when a psychopath just told you he cut your wife’s head off and put it in that box. His acting was perfect. He even made himself look like he was gonna be sick from it
Never heard anyone say that.
I thought it added something when you know he and Gwyneth were engaged.
@@theConquerersMama if you just find a clip of the box scene there are comments from people saying he over acted
@@JPuReTaLeNt oh, so a reaction to an out of context moment? That makes sense.
He certainly seems unhinged if you haven't been on the previous emotional journey. But that was John Doe's intent. To drive him mad. To juxtapose David's loss of control with his "ultimate"control.
Thanks for the reply.
No one taps into that interior rage, madness, pain struggle quite like Pitt or Mel Gibson. The way they can make their veins pop, eyes red and yes, even look like they are going to puke. So visceral. It's amazing.
There probably are other actors and I am just blanking on them at this moment.
Nice. Fincher at his best. yet another reason why the 90's had the best movies of all time.
The best movie ever made. Everything in it is just perfection.
Try watching it again sometime, and instead of focusing on the story and plot, look at the craft behind it. The visuals, the audio, the way the two go together. Also the set design. The acting. The writing. It's just... fantastic.
React to “The brother hood of war” (Tae Guk Gi) Korean War movie that is super good! With all the Korean film coming to light lately it’d be great.
Denzel Washington was offered to do this film.He turned it down, because he thought it was to dark.He watched it and later did FALLEN,which was a serial killer film.
Awesome reaction man, love your positive energy. And great call about the pacing, this movie sucks you in from the start and never lets up, all leading to one of the best (and most difficult) endings of all time. I've heard that conversation in the car ride to the desert a hundred times and it never gets old.
Somerset's point that "if Doe is just working for God, why is it that he seems to personally enjoy his work so much?" is the only thing in the movie that throws Doe off kilter and it's a great point - I've thought so often when applied to so many other fanatics.
If you haven’t seen memento I suggest that. It’s a movie where you really have to pay attention .
It also deserves a follow up reaction. Because it's a whole different movie the second time.
David Fincher is an AMAZING director!
All of the movies that I've seen of his are always great movies
🙌🏻
Hands down the best Se7en reaction on UA-cam. Your reaction echoed precisely my own when I saw this at the cinema when it came out. I was completely blown away by the storytelling. I still think it's one of the most beautifully crafted screenplays ever written. Andrew Kevin Walker created not only a brilliantly plotted serial killer movie, but also a stark exposition of the alienation of city living. The pessimism of Somerset contrasted with the optimism of Mills is a tension that runs through the story. It absolutely remains for me Fincher's masterpiece.
Awesome reaction as always! I'd also recommend the movie No Country For Old Men, seems like something up your alley as it's a very intense film
The Game is a thriller movie also directed by David Fincher that is a great thrill ride. I highly suggest checking that out.
USUAL SUSPECTS PLEASE IT WONT DISAPPOINT
Sometimes I think it'd be interesting to be a police detective. Except, aside from the obvious, it would definitely take a lot of patience and extreme attention to detail. And I tend to struggle with both those things. 😅
Dude, you gotta do, "The Game," from David Fincher, it's sooo fucking good.
Great reaction, mate. Fun, you’re into it and you don’t make it all about you … unlike most channels. It’s not a serial killer film, but I recommend ‘Arlington Road’, from about the same time. It’s another one of those films that makes you sick/stuns you.
I agree. The ending is another one you are not really expecting and the acting is really great.
Primate I would SO dig seeing you react to 1989's never-forgettable but way underknown gutpunch masterpiece that is _The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover._ You cannot unsee the ending. What a headtrip - color palettes and sometimes even clothing colors change from one room to the next. A hard watch, in spots. I'll be checking, haha :D
What’s in the box 🤕
You had the same reaction as most moviegoers when it was released. We didn't move for a few moments after it ended.
Rumor has is it Kevin Spacey did this movie for free cause he wanted the role so bad
Suprised you didnt put Morgan's laugh in! so good. Thumbs up!
This was the first Horror film I saw with my brother and sister, as they took me to go see it! I was 5 years old! Lol! I watched the film, right until the crazy twist ending!
This is literally Psycho! If you haven't seen Psycho from 1960, I recommend it.
I don’t know why before I was asking about Shutter Island I was meant to ask about Prisoners. Jake Gylenhall and Hugh Jackman star in it. it’s on Netflix
What's in the Box!
