Also the most obvious one is during the car crash scene. You see Brad Pitt pulling Edward Norton out of the driver side window. Pitt was driving and Norton was in the passenger seat before the crash

    • @praxton
      @praxton 2 роки тому +11

Probably the first one was when Norton is at the airport and he and Pitt cross each other on the conveyer belt right when he says, "Can you wake up as a different person."
There were definitely clues and hints, but none that you'd catch on first viewing.
I will say a few people might be able to catch it on first viewing if they really paid attention to a couple of things:
      1. Tyler set the explosives that blew up his condo before they "met"
      2. Tyler is down in the basement whispering Norton's words that he parrots
I saw one reaction where someone nearly picked up on those two clues. Everyone else was like the rest of us when we saw the film: blown away.

This movie really has a perfectly-calibrated twist: you can watch it the first time and never have a clue that they're the same person, but when you go back and rewatch it, there are visual hints, dialogue hints, even acting hints that constantly lay the groundwork for the truth.

It’s been theorized that the Narrator’s name is Jack from the whole I am Jack’s sayings
The person that flashes super quick is indeed Tyler and definitely intentional.
Some other hints about Tyler’s true nature:
•Jack first met Tyler after waking up
•There’s a promotional video on a hotel tv with a group of hotel employees saying welcome. The one in the middle is Tyler.
•When Lou punches Tyler, you can see Jack lower his head as if he felt it
•When Jack beats himself, he says he was reminded of his first fight with Tyler.
•And when they crash and the car is flipped upside down, Tyler comes out of the passenger side and pulls Jack out of the driver side
He shot himself through the cheek. His mouth is probably scorched to hell.
I definitely went into this knowing the twist. I forget how I learned about it. Probably a greatest twists video.

I mean, that scene in the bar gives it away if you listen. “You’re Tyler Durden, you’re the one who gave me this” that’s right when I knew he had DID. There’s a lot of subtle hints through out the movie. Also, his insomnia was caused by Tyler, when he went to “sleep” that’s when Tyler took over, it’s why he’d say he’d wake up in different places. Tyler had already manifested long before he met him on the plane. Makes you think, if you ever get insomnia and have black outs with gaps of time missing, how can you be sure it’s just insomnia?

There are three clues about Tyler, I think. The first is those flash frames of him in the early scenes. The second is the payphone where Tyler calls him - it has a sign visible stating that it cannot receive incoming calls. The third is the fact that we never see the narrator, Tyler, and Marla in the same room, and how Marla reacts to the narrator. Plus I guess the moment when Tyler prompts him on what to say too her from the bottom of the stairs where he should be too far away to hear, so I guess that's a fourth one?

    A couple other foreshadowing clues:
4:55 - the wet smiley face the narrator left on Bob's shirt was also the logo for project mayhem. Who started project mayhem? Tyler Durden.
15:46 - Bob describes the guy who started fight club as someone who only sleeps 1 hour a night named Tyler Durden. However, the narrator is the only character in the story that's established as having insomnia.

This movie has so much nuance. What I love most is that the key component of the narrator’s motivation is that it’s played for laughs. Everybody says that he’s stuck in the nine to five - but he’s not! The narrators job is the literal reduction of human life to numbers on a spreadsheet. He does that job in service of corporate profit. No wonder he cracks.
Tyler represents the narrator’s rage, but watch other main characters. What do they represent?

That was a reveal, you're not supposed to know Tyler is a figment until that scene - but there are enough hints to suggest it leading up to that scene. "No, *you're* crazy, and we simply do not have time for this crap!"

It’s crazy he didn’t notice any of Tyler’s cut-ins during the beginning few scenes.

You have to watch this movie at least twice to find some clues. But it was its intention not to tell you that both guys is only the one. And that's why this movie is awesome. :D

yes the flashes are part of the movie, there are clues through out the movie, the biggest one is when he beats himself up at the office and they freeze frame, he says this reminds him of his fight with tyler. The hints are very subtle, you should now watch it a second time. I didn't get it until the reveal on my first viewing.

I walked out of the cinema in a daze after this movie.
I later bought the book and also got a tattoo of the symbol on the fat bags, which at the time I searched and found was the European symbol for infectious substances, which was kinda cool. It's also my avatar as you can see.

Also, usually I figure out the twists in movies, but I didn't realize something was up with Tyler until the bar scene with the guy with they head brace and that's was just a few moments before the big reveal.

Don't worry your reaction to the twist is what alot experience when they first watch this. And man I totally forgot they played The Pixies at the end. Such a fitting song for this movie. Keep up the great work and stay safe.

And you're right, Fight Club is all about the philosophy of the movie...it's about breaking out of the rat race.

Yeah it is a great twist, you aren't suppose to know. There are little hints throughout movie, my favorite is when he beats himself up in boss's office, the voiceover says, "This reminds me of my first fight with Tyler"

I love the irony of 16:18 when he talks about movie gods and rock stars as we see a movie god(brad pitt) and a rock star (Jared Leto) on screen lmao. I love that line so much also love the "Losing al hope was freedom" One of my fave books and fave movies of all time. I love it so much. The reveal does mess you up, when you watch it back its obvious but first time its trippy as hell
