With a healthy dose of Metallica. You can tell James's tight rhythm playing had an impact on Dime. :) Dime told Phil that when he and James got together and jammed, they taught each other some tricks and whatnot on guitar.

Such a shame that Phil butchered his voice after this. His performance on Power Metal is literally one of the best ever and can rival the best of the 80s. Wish we had gotten to hear more of his prime years as a singer - You can hardly recognize his voice after Cowboys
Bit late with this comment but he stopped because he felt like this vocal technique was overused and wanted to move in a heavier direction. Combine that with the drinking, heroin and cigarettes and you get Phil's voice today.

A mix of Judas Priest, Queensryche and Helloween.
Lucas Rosa Santos Little bit of Lizzy Borden in there too

I don't understand Cowboys from Hell was a peak Album
[Verse 1]
In these times
Of confusion and sin
We must redeem
Our human ways
This force that
Fights to live
Will fight
Till it dies
And rise again
To save the day
[Chorus]
We all
Rock the world
We all
Rock the world
[Verse 2]
The power grows
To destroy
This flag of hate
That waves so
High in the air
We raise our fists
In rebellion we stand
Our hungry hearts
Set the snare
[Chorus]
We all
Rock the world
We all
Rock the world
[Outro]
Ageless as time
Change is revealed
We will rock for you

To me you can hear a serious resemblance to classic Dokken. Even the tone to a degree. And im saying that as a huge pantera and Dokken fan.😊❤
One of the few bands to get heavier over time. They definitely weren't trying for radio play.

For real. This album is pretty hard for hair metal anyway. But maybe Phil and Dime and the gang can just do no wrong in my eyes.
Its Thrash and Glam
It's not glam. It's traditional heavy metal with some thrash elements here and there
Power Metal
I Am The Night
Cowboys From Hell
Vulgar Display of Power
