The tattoo I have now is a coverup over one I had in the past . The first one was not too bad , and the pain was pretty manageable . The coverup however was a whole different story ! A "dragon in a cloud" It turned into a sort of sleeve that extends from the wrist to the elbow , but , it is basically only on the top of the arm. But, the THREE AND A HALF HOURS that it took to do it was a test of will! !! We finally had to stop for a few minutes , and the artist suggested that we take a breather , and get my head back into finishing the artwork. The worst of that pain was on the underside of the arm near the wrist , where the artist was pushing against the bone . But, I figured that I had gone that far , I just as well finish what I started so that I wouldn't have to sit through another session . I think one of the worst parts of the second tattoo was the addition of the colors . And, there is a lot of COLOR in this one . Darkening the colors required the artist to stay in one place for longer than usual, like "filling in the holes" .I have a pretty high tolerance to pain, but this pushed my limits .
@@vidushivishni9662 I got four tiny tattoo’s (shoulder, upper arm, hip and collarbone). I was nervous at first, but to my surprise it really didn’t hurt at all! The tattoo on my hip was kinda uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t call it pain. And also, each tattoo didn’t take longer than 10 minutes!
My advice if you're getting a big piece, try and do shorter sessions if your tattoo artist is ok with that. I just did a 9 hour session on my upper right arm and that shit was complete torture. Specially towards the end, my nerves were shot. The pain won't ever hurt less, but the longer you go, the less your body will be able to tolerate it. I've done a total of 34 hours of getting tattoo'd in my life, and it hasn't gotten any easier. Also, noise cancelling headphones and music will help the first few hours. Get adrenaline from your favorite music. Good luck to yall! I have one more 8 hour session left and I'm dreading it lol.
Bro i just had my first ever tattoo full sleeve, he did the outline first for around 6hrs, man fckkkk it was the most painful thing ever at the end, i almost gave up
Getting my a sleeve next month. I have a large piece covering my Over forearm on my other Arm and I can’t wait to get my sleeve but man it’s gonna be tournament
Well considering I just finalized my full back piece, this video couldn’t be at a better time 😂 So far I’ve been a sleeper , feel asleep at points of all of my tattoos to this point 🙌
What I've realized as well is an experienced artist can tell if thier client is in too much pain. If they can see the client is restless and fidgeting and not saying anything about the pain they usually say "let's take a quick break".
I was 3 hours into my sleeve , and the artist finally sat up, and told me to go outside and get some fresh air .I think we both needed a little break. I have to admit that I was getting a little sore , and starting to get uncomfortable .
I have experience. Both arms full sleeves and I have just finished a full back tattoo of 36 hours work for a Japanese dragon done in sessions of up to 4 hours. However, NOTHING prepared me for the pain of finishing that back piece by framing the work on my backside. Two and a half hours on the left cheek was all I could take. And that side is only half done! To say I’m not looking forward to the rest is an understatement. 😮
Thank you very much I appreciate it you and your coffee are amazingly good. Your tips made me feel like putting my hands up for getting the first tattoo
Thank you for the video mate. I am going for my first tattoo, arm band polynesian. Your videos are great and very helpful 👍!! Thank you from 🇬🇷... keep going with new vids.
The hand heaviness is so real. I’ve had 3 different artists on my body. The first one wasn’t terrible, the bigger ones I have my now main artist is lovely. It’s not that bad he has a decent hand. HOWEVER. I got a small dinosaur by such a wonderful dude but it hurt SO BAD lol,
I have arms legs chest back neck covered since 2010. I'm a former cyclist so pain is familiar to me. The neck is top pain for me. You have to get a mindset that you must go thru the pain and remain still in order to get the best possible outcome. The results will be worth it. Do not think about what's being done. Instead go to a place that will ignore the pain. That is up to each individual. I'm also against long sessions since you are putting a lot of stress to the heart and nervous system. My sessions are 2 hours long. Control your breathing. Deep breaths in as needle goes in, let it out when it stops. Wash rinse repeat.
Got my first when I was 16. I was scared af but it didn't hurt. Got the second one when I was 17. The tattoo artist tattooed on my chin. It vibrated, was kind of gross. But it never really hurt much.
Why is it that nobody talks about the after pain of getting a tattoo? I went and got a piece done on my inner forearm and my elbow and whole entire forearm hurts and is stiff even though I’m trying to use it and move it like regular. Today is Thursday and I got my tattoo done last Sunday
My method is when its an especially painful area or even anywhere really, breath out with the needle contact time make a quiet hiss or shhh with your mouth. It gives my mind a separate sensation to focus on (that being the feeling of the air on your teeth and palette)
My first 2 on my calves sucked ! And didn't know why it hurt so much turns out that artist works very fast still good but aparently hurts more , than I got my third and it was so much easier than the others 😂
I know that felling! My calves sucked big time as well. For me personally it is a sensitive spot, but no doubt the pain-level changes from artist to artist, and also from style to style as well. What did you get on your calves? On my right calf I got a traditional dagger and left one, let me check.. A Darum, a LEGO-figure, and some Chinese letters that means friendship or fried rice.
@@SorryMomTattoo at least I wasn't the only one 🤣 I have the Chinese 8 points on the universe symbol on the left and the album cover for coma witch from The Acacia Strain on the other , so glad I did it first and never have to again
I've used in the past it's dope. It definitely can wear out after anywhere from 45mins-2 hours...and then the pain hits hard. But, there are spots that have been numbed for hours after I'm done. It doesn't take away 100% of the pain either, you still feel the pressure and the searing of the needle, just not the red hot bite of it all, if that makes sense. And, no, it doesn't affect the final product despite what people will harp on about.
The real secret that nobody speaks out loud is Percocets - it's a rare person who can sit for multi-hour sessions without some kind of pain med - I mean eventually you can't avoid the headache that comes with being under a needle for a long time - I think the best non-drug solution is to just have patience and book shorter sessions and just keep working on bigger pieces doing multiple short sessions over a longer time and not try to "bang out" sleeves or back pieces in one sitting like a maniac - tattoos are all about time and not about rushing things
When I had my "Storm Dragon" done , it took 3 1/2 hours . I stayed under the needle for most of it, except for about a ten minute break ( at the artist's suggestion ) toward the end of the session.
I got a half sleeve booked up for a full day session for my first im gonna be staying as i kmow how amazing it will look after but id be lying if i said i wasnt nervous 😅
I got mine yesterday 3-12-2024. aTaurus, big one on my left upper arm. From shoulder to elbow when my Artist came to my Tricep it started to hurt the same at my shoulder and halfway up the bicep. I almost gave up the last two hours were torture! My god I was in pain as if he was tattooing on the bone. I have never had such pain. I can tolerate a lot I have a high pain threshold, but this?!.......But I got a beautiful Tattoo in return.
I've tried everything to distract myself and it just doesn't work for me it's more irritating than anything. I just sit there and as soon as the needle touches me I hold my breath and put up with it cuz I know in the end it's going to be worth it. My younger brother got tattooed way before I did he would always say oh it doesn't hurt at all I love the feeling. I'm not sure if that's true maybe it is for some people. But I'm not afraid to say that yeah it hurts a lot but it's okay.
I just got my hand done, and the lidocaine spray the artist used made it way more tolerable. First time I've used this stuff, and I have two full sleeves and a few on my legs.
love your vid but the background music was a bit to o loud, and was competing with your voice, maybe lower the background music just a tad, and it will be easier to hear and understand you more clearly; other than that great vid ! ;-)
I didn’t do any research when getting my first tattoos so the second one I showed up drunk, like a 8/ out of 10 artist wasn’t happy but she did the tat and she said I told u this going to suck , so don’t drink !!!
I’m getting my first tattoo on my inner forearm.. I need some advice cause I keep seeing 50% of people find out awful and 50% of peoples found it fine 😂
If you cant drink, or take any kinda natural pain killers.. id assume not, it alters your mind such as alcohol would and can cause passing out from the pain, me personally tho, im 420 friendly and ive got each of my (4) tattoos high and never had a problem, ive even smoked with the tattoo artist (he was a friend who owned his shop)
