    Getting my third tattoo next week. My first one was nearly a decade ago now. This is one of the more comprehensive guides I've come across for aftercare. While I have two already and am familiar with the general process for healing, I've found it never hurts to refresh my knowledge beforehand and see if advice for care has changed.

    although iam not an expert I beleive ( at least for my body) that the washing gently+ moisturising twice a day is the most important part of the healing . the rest is great if you do it but it's not going to damage your tatoo if you are clean .

    So I'm thinking about getting a tattoo for abiut 2-3 years. My father had one since I could remember it. And I tought maybe I should get one as well but I kinda can't decide on what to get I have multiple Ideas that would look killer. And I don't know if I could handle the pain expetially with needles I have quite a low pain tolerance. So I might try a smaller one with just an outline to see how it feels. And I might just get one this summer.

    Hi guys, I use your balm for the healing process and I do the following: Keep the clear plastic for 2 hours, wash the tattoo area, dry it than apply Sorry Mom balm and just leave it to breathe. I do this for the next 10 days or sometimes depending on the area 11 or 12 days. After that I just use normal hydrating cream just to keep the skin from drying out. What do you think about this method? Or should I go with your film for the healing process? It would be much much easier for me to just use the film instead of the balm. Also another question: Balm or butter? Which is better for the healing process? Thanks

    • @SorryMomTattoo
      @SorryMomTattoo  3 роки тому +7

      Hi Vlad :) Most of the customers that we are in contact with have experienced better results by keeping the tattoo film on the first 3-4 days. Then, after that period, they start their regular aftercare routine (wash + moisturize 2-4 times a day, depending on your skin) for 2 weeks. After those 2 weeks, to keep your skin hydrated and elastic, then they use the tattoo lotion, to make sure the tattoo is properly moisturized and looks fresh. Regarding the question about the balm and the butter: although the butter has proven to be super effective in the healing process, the balm was specifically developed for that purpose. Therefore, if you need something for the healing process exclusively, we'd say you should go for the balm.
      We hope this was helpful! :)

      @@SorryMomTattoo Thanks , just what I thought and that is why I am going with your balm. After 10 days I found out that my tattoo is healed (with the exception of the knee area which is more delicate). After the days I think I will try the butter to just keep the skin elastic and from drying out. Anyways keep up the good work and the great products. Cheers

Today is day 3 and I’m very worried I’ve used ointment too early. Should I now leave it to dry for 2 days before I use the cocoa butter again?

    I usually take the cling wrap off right after i get home, wash it gently, pat dry with clean paper towels, (twice a day) and add my tattoo balm, and keep doing that till the swelling goes down and it’s now so raw, after about 2 or 3 days after i wash i let it air dry for about 30, mins then i add my balm so that way the tattoo has time to breathe and start to go through the “crusty” stage while i let it air dry, and then again like i said, still adding balm until it’s mostly all healed on top then i add my unscented, sensitive skin lotion on it to keep it from scabbing and only just peeling like it should

      Hello Jawknee! We here at Sorry Mom does not have an extensive knowledge about A&D so I would rather not comment on their product. I recommend that you clean your tattoo and use neutral soap if you dont have a soap specific for tattoos. Hi Ricco :)
      The first 24h you have the bandage on, it's best to have the film only. However, once you apply a new bandage (which you will have for 3-4 days) we recommend applying a thin layer of balm/moisturizer. This will keep the area properly moisturized during the first days of healing.
      If you have more questions, feel free to leave a comment or check out the full guide here: sorrymomshop.com/blogs/aftercare/tattoo-aftercare-instructions
      Good Easter!

      @@riccomunoz2501 We would definitely recommend using products specifically designed for tattoo healing, like the Sorry Mom Tattoo Balm or the Process Butter. Is applying a thin layer of Aquaphor Healing Ointment to the tattoo okay? My artists reccomends Aquaphor thats why I ask.

    • @taompons
      @taompons 3 роки тому +3

      yeah. almost every tattoo artist recommends aquaphor healing ointment. i don’t have aquaphor but i have cerave healing ointment(same shit honestly) and it helped me a lot.
      it helped me prevent more scabbing, it’s just moisturizing and obviously a healing ointment great for tattoos since tattoos are a wound. scabbing is normal but it sucks if you scab too much because someone pigment gets lifted if you don’t take care of your tattoo properly. don’t apply too much. just a thin layer. having too much kind of doesn’t let the tattoo breathe almost. you don’t want the tattoo to be too moisturized, too wet, too hydrated, etc. like don’t lather so much on. but you obviously don’t want it to be too dry either.

    • @SorryMomTattoo
      @SorryMomTattoo  Рік тому

      Nope. If you use it to heal the tattoo it will most likely slow the process as it kills bacteria and new skin cells growing. It's only good to clean the fresh tattoo (by the artist) as it will help reduce bacteria on the skin and sooth the irritation caused by the tattoo process.
