Gotta agree with this, most grunge music sounds like it should be pretty self-explanatory in the guitar - and it usually is. Then you get something like Plush and start wondering where do these weird chords come from yet sound so natural. And don't even get me started with Pretty Penny, where your old reliable A-D-E progression goes to die a horrible death.
I get the feeling that Jeff was really nervous to be singing this and that Dean was trying to encourage him. This is the big song and I think has a special kind of aura around it for the band and probably now is inseparable from the memory of Scott. I would be sweating too but he knocked it out of the park here.
He was with the band about 5 months when this video was posted. I do see Dean nodded his head a little as he kept his guitar strokes. That could have Dean's subtle way of staying on timing while Jeff prepared the next notes from memory or he could have gave Jeff some feedback.

I love Scott so much but this guy is really great,doing great job
