I get the feeling that Jeff was really nervous to be singing this and that Dean was trying to encourage him. This is the big song and I think has a special kind of aura around it for the band and probably now is inseparable from the memory of Scott. I would be sweating too but he knocked it out of the park here.
Saw him play this live, defiantly not nervous, he killed it!
@@bennymcgehee3305 This is solids and rocks hard!
He was with the band about 5 months when this video was posted. I do see Dean nodded his head a little as he kept his guitar strokes. That could have Dean's subtle way of staying on timing while Jeff prepared the next notes from memory or he could have gave Jeff some feedback.
Es una versión acústica y a mi parecer le salen maravilloso no lo vi jamás nervioso.
Tem toda razão
Anyone replacing Scott has big shoes to fill, but come on people, Jeff does a great job here ! More than the voice, he keeps the spirit of the band. Thumbs up Pilots, keep it up !
Agree
I second this
juaneps agree, and I love it! Congrats to him
Jeff owned that!
I totally agree...... STP will always be my favorite band with songs like this......... those are some big shore to fill too...... I saw Chester Bennington sing for STP about 5 years ago...... he rocked it too 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Man....Gutt's vocals are spot on. STP NATION STAND UP!!!! 🤘
Fuck no! Do u have ears ?
@@michaelbarry6586 youre deaf, perhaps you should see a doctor.
@@michaelbarry6586 can you do better bum?
@@michaelbarry6586 it sounds the same as Scott lmao 😂
@@Americanspy-hn2kw nothing sounds the same as Scott, the bigness of his voice sounded superhuman and there are times where you can hear Jeff running out of air where Scott would still be rippin... Jeff is great though, the only person I think who could handle this job are he and Corey Taylor
Jeff Gutt brought a new soul to STP ❣️ RIP Scott!
Dean DeLeo is an amazing guitarist! Totally underrated. I love his use of unique chords!
The lick is easy but nothing else. Gota add how Deans still got that hair. The man rocks. As does Rob!
He's a jazz guitarist so he knows how to interweave hard throughout the easy. He plays Allan Holdsworth solos for fun
I second that. This was an amazing performance.
Indeed, maybe one of the best guitarist from grunge era.
Gotta agree with this, most grunge music sounds like it should be pretty self-explanatory in the guitar - and it usually is. Then you get something like Plush and start wondering where do these weird chords come from yet sound so natural. And don't even get me started with Pretty Penny, where your old reliable A-D-E progression goes to die a horrible death.
I remember Jeff Gutt from the X Factor. I'm so happy to see him fulfilling his dreams. May you always be happy Jeff!
Yesssssss!!!!!!
He seems & sounds like a great fit. Nobody can replace Weiland but Jeff does a nice job.
@@jussitikkuri6991 Right! I don’t think Jeff would even try to replace him either. He seems like a nice, respectful guy.
Wish Jeff all the best --- not easy to replace Scott
Great singer Jeff Gutt.....
One of the best rock chord sequences ever written. Incredible band and performance.
Agreed🤙This dude does an amazing job on vocals and the riffs are as good now as when I saw them in concert back in the late 90's. 😍🤩
AMEN!!!
Too bad he plays like shit
Exactly! 👏👏
Pure blues
Dean's probly thinking "holy shit we made the right choice" when he looks at jeff during this song lol
Scott and Chester would be so proud. Please stay alive for everyone who loves you.
The tone on that guitar could rock Angus young to sleep
Not a fan at all. Too digital/over-effected. Not sure why you would connect that to Angus Young. I'm not an STP fan but admire their songs and Deans playing, as well as his brother's bass playing and songwriting, but I just can't take the over-effected stuff. There's no point in it to me when, like so many do, it's used to the point it processes the human touch out, at least to my ears.
And I'm not talking gain.
I never knew who Jeff was til he got with STP, whoever made the choice to give him this spot is a a genius! He is PERFECT for the job!
Bryan Franklin since X factor This guy shows he’s talented. I’m so glad STP chose him!
Yes, Jeff Gutt was chosen for a reason by STP-for his talent, amazing voice and sensibility, and his profound respect for Scott and the band! With Jeff Gutt as powerful vocalist, extraordinaire frontman, STP was able to continue existing, was able to move on sounding as before: same quality, same beauty and musicianship with the DeLeo brothers, Eric Kretz... Love you STP, love you Jeff! Thank you
Yes he is and yes they are.
Dean is a real guitar player. He uses such colorful cords
The sound of the guitar is so beautiful
yes
Gibson Les Paul as it should:) Great!!
All of it’s in the fingers and amp settings.
His arrangement is different too
More sophisticated, crescendo, and carefully chosen note fingered arpeggios instead of mostly strumming
Dean is a master of sound. Love his envisioning. He is a god of guitar. A student of Page.
Every word
Dean DeLeo is a phenomenal guitar player...love some of his amazing riffs!! Jeff kills this song, seen him perform it Live. #STP Rocks!!!!🎵🎸❤
So I wasn’t the only one comparing him
To page
Lmfao
Dean was the real heart of STP. Scott was the cherry on top.
His performance was legen-wait for it- dary.
Jeff Gutt replacing Scott Weiland after his death was the wisest choice ever. His voice is pretty much spot on! Saw them play last year at Graspop with this mellow version. Gave me goosebumps the whole song through. Killer job Jeff!!!
Saw STP and Scott perform live. He was spot on the whole night and show . They all were the night I saw them.
I was today years old when I learned that this performance was not with Scott Weiland 👀
Too bad that wasn't why they replaced him.
Respectfully, Jeff’s voice is not spot on. Good, but def no where near Scott.
His voice is great with this song, one of the best I've ever heard besides Scott. The tone, is great.. Good deal.
Did you hear "Interstate Love Song" with Jeff ? It`s on UA-cam. Awesome Vocals.
R.I.P. Scott Weiland.
Great job Jeff Gutt
Great job Jeff love to see his success rip Scott
Jeff put son in Cowell to better regret what said I love it it's stp sound an why not sound like your idols with his own sounds on it
An they must ment something to Jeff cause he even dances like Scott an he wasn't a good dancer
Agreed, Max. RIP Scott & Jeff- ya sound great.
Chester too!
Never thought someone could pull off what Scott did.
You got it. Be yourself. Great job.
.....And be careful with that dope gosh darn it !! That stuff can kill grunge rockers.
holy shit jeff sounds so good. what a rockstar
I have been following Jeff for a few years now, and still can't believe he got this job!! Well deserved!!
Me too, he deserves it after getting robbed on the x factor. Props to you Gutt.
Agreed
@@jeeperscreepers8902 I disagree, for a pure rock guy to get so far on X-Factor was a tribute to his abilities, winning so many over from mainstream pop. That Ken and Barbie won was no surprise for the demographic who watch that type of show, that Gutt did so well, staying with mostly rock songs, was the surprise.
what a great performance. Jeff Gutt outstanding vocals dude.
I totally love this version.
Quiet & loud !
Grunge isn't dead.
Well done Jeff & STP!
It’s not acoustic brotha
@@Sandman27-88 oh crap. You are correct. My bad.

Great rendition guys. Jeff's a perfect fit, vocally so close to Scott. Well done!

Scott would appreciate Mr Gutt’s voice ❤️
Feel gutted!! But soo true.
no one likes to b replaced
I think so as well.

Nobody was looking to replace Weiland. He had an "accidental" yet fatal O.D. . Whatcha gonna do. Put a rotting corpse propped up on stage and play Weiland's lyrics with wires attached to the cadaver ? He checked out. He wasn't replaced.
Only if Scott was on weed and ecstasy would say that... or to be polite. Which was one of his other positive traits.
The DeLeos are criminally underrated.
Underrated? By whom? They are fantastic players.
True, they get no where near the exposure that they deserve. I'm the only person I know that listens to STP (and all the side projects) and it's a shame.
How in the fuck are they underrated. You people forget that this is 2020/2021. STP isn't relevant. That doesnt mean underrated for fucks sake
Always a dumbass. You Ailpein...that makes such stupid comments

Makes me cry, beautiful song! Scott , I miss you! Viva STP!!!!!
Vida longa ao #StoneTemplePilots ! Abraços da #ValvolinesSTPcover de São Paulo!
He makes Scott still here love it don't ever forget him everyone
Essa interpretação ficou muito boa ,mas trouxe aquele vazio que o Scott deixou 😭
IKR, GOOSEBUMPS
The first time I watched this, I was actually caught off guard. This rendition is really different. But listening to it again, it's pretty goddamn cool. Dean DeLeo is FANTASTIC, and I love that this shows him off more. The way they built tension, continually leaving you in anticipation, was pretty genius.
My favorite 90s band! I was sick and tired of hearing this song till i heard this version! Now i cant get enough!
That build up at the second interlude just to be left with blue balls pissed me off. From the second verse B on it should've been like normal.
Dean Deleo is awesome. One of the most underrated guitar players.
@@heathmain9335 qq
I've always loved the way Dean plays, so fluid, precise, and passionate. Dean is a versatile guitarist that flows between styles and sound.
Holy shit, what an excellent version!
it's just such a shame Scott couldn't keep it together. The music STP made with him is Legendary. Welcome Jeff... you are doing a great job. Own it... it's your turn. I am very excited to hear the new STP music with you at the helm.

At first, I would have just called Jeff a try hard and been convinced that no one would ever replace Scott. But, in a way, that's true. Scott was one of a kind and so was his voice. But Jeff needs a lot more credit than I've given him. With the direction music is headed and not in a good way, I'm ashamed I even thought that way. If this keeps Stone Temple Pilots going and 90's music alive, I will gladly cheer you on.
very good (gutt) husky voice like scott, bluesy singing, you, band got the voice again!
congratulation!
... and promise us keeping no drugs, past guys died tragically, we don't want no more tragedy.
No doubt two of the anti drug keep our hinge guys alive Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell are gone, Eddie Vedder is the lone star still shining
One of the best Live-Performancese I've ever Seen and Heard. They're so totally underrated
So happy to see jeff gutt rocking his dreams!!! After so long of being h aware if he still made music so proud!
So emotive and powerful. So well executed and arranged, especially when the drums kicks in. Finding Jeff is definitely Good Karma for the band and for the fans.
John Travolta playing Bass. Amazing! 😍😍😍
i really like this take on one of my fav STP songs - love the guitar, love the singing, love when the bass and drums kick in.....I think the guys made a good choice when they added Jeff to the band.
The original version of this song is my favorite song of all time. This version of it made me fall in love with it all over again. Wow
My god! I was NOT expecting this. Jeff actually sounds amazing! I mean, you literally cannot beat Scott Weiland. His voice was just one of the best of the goddamn 90s. Him and Layne Staley were gods of the rock/grunge era. But Jesus, Jeff Gutt sounds so fucking good doing this song!!! I LOVE the way they moved this song down a notch and played differently. I Swear, Jeff really surprised me here. So fuckin goddamn good.
This was fucking beautifull! I could not hold joy tears in seeing such a great performance by every member!
I know what you mean, teared me up...
Singing and playing their most iconic song the same way after all theyve been thru would not make sense. this version is brilliant and very refreshing, and the voice is great. they all sounded just great.
From a deleted Episode from How I Met Your Mother:
"And this, kids, is a story of a day your uncle Barney sang with the Stone Temple Pilots"
I was thinking the same thing!!
lol
I read this with teds voice
@@eOnblue111 ahaha me too man!
This is the first time listening to STP since Scott, Whoa… I didn’t think they could bounce back but I think this hits pretty damn hard. Excellent Voice, Two Thumbs Up!!
Wow Jeff is so natural I’m impressed for his performance 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Amazing how good a band can sound when folks are sober.
Bull shit, scott was the heart and soul of stock!!...
I agree it's really a shame that booze and drugs seem to go hand in hand with playing
The band was always badass bro
Agree, Jeff in fact used to have a bad drinking problem years ago 🤔
Hater
One of the best Bass and Drum duo in the business. They put up a solid platform for Dean's orchestral chord facings to really shine. Gutts Vocals are perfect. RIP SW.
I love you Jeff, STP sounds awesome with you in the vocals! Just the perfect convination!
if Layne Staley and Neil Patrick Harris had a son
I thought that when i see them at Rebellion last year LOL!
I've also always said if Prince and Micheal Jackson had a son it'd be Bruno Mars
DEAD 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Damm funny !! I was thinking NPH does Saturday Night Live imitation of Lane Stanley

This was amazing, sounded incredible, loved it. Jeff has a great voice. RIP Scott. I miss you everyday.
Great version of this song! Gotta give props to a guy who is going to try to step into an icon's shoes. Jeff pulled it off as well as anyone could.
So happy to see Jeff Gutt doing well, he's a great man and father and deserves it!!
Saw them 3 days ago. Phenomenal!
Noice !!!!
This is what we call the perfect definition of replacement is . Great job by new vocalist 💪💪
Great version. One of my favorite songs from the 90's.
Phenomenal performance possibly the best guitar tone I've ever heard.
Incredible goddamn guitar tone.
Jeff is absolutely ammmmmazing. One of the BEST rock voices to ever love. He could have easily been the original singer. He’s wow. Amazing
Like how it’s played softer and slower almost a tribute to Scott nice.
Dean is one of my biggest guitar influences and this version is so cool. I love that the band is carrying on. Jeff is definitely a student and fan of Scott and I love it. Long live STP
This is good and I know Scott is proud that the band is still continuing.
The second he opened his mouth, I got instant goosebumps and chills. I can’t wait to see them live in anchorage this summer!
That's some Phil Collins "I can see it coming" type-shit with them witholding for the intrumentals to come crashing like the familiar version of the song. I love it!
scott weliland, and bon scott two legends for ever .
One strum on those guitars and 💥 BAM I’m a teenager again!☺️
I've been a huge fan of STP since I was 6, when I first got ahold of GTA San Andreas and this song was in it. Jeff is a 9/10
My story too!!! :)
If it's not for GTA SA, I wouldn't been listenin to STP.
@@bluepinkman4785 I discovered Soundgarden and the rest abound 2 to 4 years before I played San Andreas, but the fact that Radio X existed definitely made the game a lot more fun to me.
@@ComaAlpha i didn't know the title of this song. Until one day I found it on youtube, sounds familiar to me then I started to play SA again.

Love his voice. He’s not gonna replace Scott but he’s close.
Nobody could be a better replacement. I watch him when he came 2nd in the xfactor, his voice is beautiful.
The best cover of the song that I’ve heard
Absolutely great version of the song. Love it.
Great performance, great respect for Scott here, thumbs up!
STP songs leave you vocally nowhere to hide.. Either you got it or you don't and he certainly has it....
Jeff is a perfect fit..if you watched him before he joined the band he had the same demeanor as Scott..this is an amazing performance and Scott would be proud! Watch them climb to the top again..they deserve it♥️👍
I saw STP in wichita at the Cotillion and loved every minute of it!!!! I wish all the haters of Jeff would just listen with an unbiased ear and realize what a great job he is doing. Also, kudos to the rest of the band for respecting their audience and playing with total abandon like men of a much younger age!!!!
Keep it up guys. You are still one of the best touring bands out there!!!!!!

Word! I always took Scott's side and he was always my favorite singer, but this dude has got it going on!
aways STP got me high great tune Fav
Jeff Gutt blows you away. Doesn't matter what he sings but he appears to be the perfect fit for STP.

This new guy does a great job! Also loved his singing on the new album
Wow, this guy sounds great. My personal favorite vocals on a live song has always been the MTV performance Scott and DeLeo did when the song was new. I didn't think anybody else could do it justice, but hats off to Jeff Gutt, he effing nailed it!
That is my favorite, too. Scott looked so healthy then!!
what a voice! a doppelganger for Scott. close your eyes and it spunds like scott!
Dear Scott, we miss you dearly. Jeff will be holding down the fort, 'til we all meet again.
We`ll all be riding that Southern train singing Interstate Love Song & others.
I don't know how I feel about Jeff. I miss Scott soooo much 😔. Jeff did I great job and stp really sounded good. Just sad to not see Scott Weiland up there putting his all into stp. RIP sweetheart 💔
I wish they’d release this. The quality is superb. And this slow semi clean version that gets rockin later really adds a new texture to this classic song.
Jeff is awesome and Kudos to him for keeping the STP dream alive. Anyone who comments about his dancing being like Weiland might want to consider it's his legacy in how the music affects the soul of it's host. GREAT WORK JEFF !!!!!!!
Well said ,I get it too
Scott is irreplaceable. one of the greatest frontmen ever. end of story and as much as I didn't want to like this it hooked me. damn if it isn't good. I like that Jeff is singing with his own voice but still hitting all those proper notes most definitely channeling Scott Weiland but keeping his own presents at the same time. the guitar work is impeccable and honestly, I know it's different music but I haven't been this excited for a new lead singer since Journey. not saying the other lead singers for S.T.P. didn't do well but this guy is killing it.
Found myself avoiding stp of old with Jeff.....only because I thought the world of Scott.....but i finally caved and listened....might not be Scott....but Jeff does a great job...I love STONE TEMPLE PIOLETS!
When a greater soul finally completes a unified soul.
