Nobody can truly replace Scott, but Jeff is just killing it here. Great job.
I know right! NOT Bad at all 😊
Pinkman! Yo Mr White 😅
I’ve seen Scott twice with Stp and once with velvet revolver. When I first saw this I thought it was Scott and was just something I’ve never seen yet. It wasn’t till I sent it to friends that they started hating cause it wasn’t Scott that I realized he wasn’t. The man looks and sounds and even in a way moves like him. He fooled me. He’s the next best thing for sure.
well everyone else in STP definitely seemed to believe he was replaceable, Weiland got fired from STP 2 years before his tragic passing lol
Wtf isn't this scott?
I didn’t know Jesse Pinkman was the new lead singer of STP! What a voice! RIP Scott.
I mean yea he was in a Korn music video so he can do it all.
You thought he wouldn't do anything after moving to Alaska? 😂
You can do anything on meth

The DeLeo Brothers are nothing short of geniuses, and their drummer is a killing machine. This singer may not be Scott but sure is in a class of his own. Fuck yeah.

Well said.

Monster bass player and composer!
He is the STP!!
Criminally underrated
And the fact that he orchestrated dam near all of their songs says a lot about his musicality period

The whole band is underrated. They never quite get mentioned with their contemporaries for some reason. They are a far better band than Pearl Jam for example.
@@AllofJudea been talking to several people over the years about Grunge era, they always mentioned Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden as the best bands of that time, and almost none knew STP, and I think them along with Alice in chains were a lot better
@@descendinguniverseSTP & AIC the kings of grunge
I was thinking the same thing. He's got an incredible amount of swing.
STP is my favorite band since I was a child. I don’t know much about music ( or how to play drums for that matter). I just love music. But I’m fortunate to say that I personally met him in my country and the guy is really nice.
Its crazy when you think about how amazing this Album is. What a masterpiece work. So much talent.
Every song on the album is just hit, after hit, after hit, after hit.
Almost every song has been on constant rotation on Rock Radio since its been released. There's not to many other albums like that in truth by anyone. It's an incredible accomplishment.
Especially when you think about its their 1st Album on top of it.
Also goes to show how ridiculously pathetic Critics are and how they don't know $h!t & are basically just Dog $h!t because they all mostly trashed this album when it was released. LOL. 8x Platinum within a year and 4 Completely Dominant Hits plus all the other great songs but the Critics didn't like it. Wtf do they know? Absolutely Nothing!!!
They said they were trying to sound like Nirvana & Pearl Jam. LOL. Yeah OK Buddy. They come from the same era of course & they're in the same genre but come on. They so obviously don't sound anything alike and as if Nirvana & Pearl Jam sound like eachother too? So worthless that Critics are even a thing, & especially still.
Not an easy job to fill Scott's place ...Jeff is an amazing singer/artist by his own merit. Great to know STP is still here to keep rocking!!!!
"Not an easy job to fill Scott's place" I keep reading this line over and over again. It serves what purpose ? Probably to excuse Jeff's lack of quality and get on with it. I mean, what has he accomplished in music besides winning a mainstream singing show ? The truth no one wants to recognize is that no one will ever fill Scott's shoes and there would probably be better options than Jeff. He's just a bad imitator and a weak performer. STP should've ended after Scott's death or change its name to a tribute band. They're milking it ...
@@MrCroky123send them yer list of singers go ahead Mr Star Search matter.of fact list them all here so we can see your kickass vox list..😅
@@psalmsurfer1, for what ? To the ones like the DeLeo brothers and c&a and fans like yourself, that would be a shit list, wouldn't it ? Such list has already existed but the choice was made thanks to reasons only the DeLeo brothers understand. Like it was an easy way out of the circus they created searching for Scott's replacement. There were better voices but Jeff had this advantage of being already known by the US crowd. Like it would make a whole lot of difference, lol. It did ... for the worst though.

So many comments about Jeff. You can`t please everyone. AIC went for a different style singer than Layne and people whine all the time. STP got a guy to pay homage to Scott and people still complain. I`m just glad you guys are still touring your amazing catalog and Jeff delivers, even if he`s not Weiland, but who really is?
Honestly, Jeff was the choice, you wouldn’t have found anyone like him, he’s got the chops to do metal, and pop songs, he’s got charisma and hell of a voice.
A replacement singer just means the fans need to sing along to honor the original vocalist imo
This guy is killing it. He's not scott, but he is nailing all of it. Great job, Jeff!
he's almost..... too?... good? Like, he sounds trained (and looks just like him back then, too). That, along with the fact that he's completely trying to emulate Scott with none of his own personality makes me think... I don't like it? It's a little strange...
But if I'm being honest here, I really don't know what I'd want for a replacement in situations like this. If I never saw this I would probably think I wanted someone just like this. But, yeah, idk...
@@intuit13 Agreed. He sounds, to me, like a tribute band vocalist. He's good at sounding like Scott because it's his job, not because he gives a shit about being in the band. William Duvall sings like he's part of Alice in Chains.
@@intuit13I felt this way completely until I saw them live with him and then I actually got to meet him after the show and one of the first things he said was "Trust me...I would much rather see Scott here fronting this band as well...but that unfortunately can't happen. He was extremely humble and genuinely seemed like a decent guy. I agree he still has some qualities that look a little too much like he is trying to BE Scott...instead of being himself and honor Scott's legacy....but I can't shit on him because he knows he isn't Scott and will never be able to replace him. I totally agree with the comment about William Duvall in Alice in Chains as well....he is his own person 100% and he does a fantastic job. At the end of the day...Im happy STP are still playing music and keeping things going because they are brilliant players and deserve to be keeping these songs alive.
Jeff Gutt is doing an amazing job here. We can feel how much he loves the songs, and puts meaning and intention in every word he sings. That requires lots of love and dedication, in addition to research and rehearsal. Very well done!
pretty good . Needs to belt it out a bit with a bit more rasp on tunes like wicked garden . It’s a tad flat .

I'm glad you like it but I despise this kind of stuff. That's like replacing Mick Jagger and expecting the audience to get excited over it. Some things you just leave it alone.
👍💯@@erichramone7812
Love how the bass is just as "lead" as the guitar and isn't relegated to the background. So much fun to come back to this album all these years later. Kudos to the sounds guys as well.
Jeff Gutt, keeping my dreams alive. STP was and is a huge part of my life.
People get hung up on the whole "replacement" comparison trip... Scott will live forever however Jeff isn't replacing Scott. Jeff is just adding to the STP legacy to ensure it continues to live on. Countless bands out there have lost the lead singer to tragedy, yet they continue to their journey still sharing their passion for music... AC/DC, Alice In Chains, Queen, Sublime.... as much as people are not going to like this statement.... doesn't matter how talented the singer is... is never the vocals that make a song legendary. Vocalist can be replaced, but it is the music itself that makes the songs eternal. Classic example Van Halen, they changed singers multiple times and they kept going still with the same drive and energy, however now that Eddie is no longer with us... Van Halen has reached they final chapter. No one can replace Eddie. Same parallel with STP. Scott's vocal were amazing, though is the magic sound from the DeLeo brothers that truly makes STP's sound. I don't care how much any body argues to the contrary, pick any STP album remove Scott's or Jeff vocals and you will still be able to listen from beginning to end with the same enjoyment over and over again... then do the opposite, remove the De Leo Brothers music and leave Scott's or Jeff's vocals.. guarantee you will not listen to that through an entire album from beginning to end and if you do.. you will not do it again. It's all about the music, so let's stop complaining and comparing Jeff to Scott and let's enjoy STP's music allowing their legacy to continue. I won't even go into Chester's time with STP which I believe he also did all the songs justice, proving my point even further. The truth always hurts 😎 STP Keep on Rockin' Eddie, Chester, Scott RIP.!!!!!
Underrated comment! I agree... STP was always about the riffs and music. Weiland almost "danced" within the music. His vocal range was limited but worked well with this style and genre.
Dean has always been such an overlooked player. His chord choices are interesting and his tone is always briliant. Ive ben fortunate enough to have seen them several times since 92 and each time his live guitar tone has always impressed me and I never really understand why he doesnt get the kind of recognition many of his peers recieve. Very happy to see them land a solid singer to fill Scotts spot as well...Jeff does all the songs justice without coming across like a bad imitator. Great rock band from top to bottom
Its those VHT amps and Demeter Preamps that make his nuances shine!!!
I agree Dean is very underrated, and I love his tone and leads, too... one thing I will add is that his brother Robert (bassist) actually wrote most of the chord progessions for this amazing band.
Jeff has given us all a great transition from Scott. If I didn't know better I wouldn't have known better 😂
@rogn1237 Absolutely he uses a lot of Chorus as well and if done wrong that can make things very muddy...I used to think he was using VOX AC30s until I got a look at his setup. .Dean and Billy Duffy from the Cult are 2 players who I have always really loved because they play smart parts that serve the song...they have killer tones and they still manage to show off their chops without being hotdogs. Jerry Cantrell is another player who always kills it and serves the song.
singing well is hard work. he's working his ass off and the OGs are supporting him.
Agreed, we all miss Scott, no doubt, but Gutt is doing a great Job. It's an honor to Scott that Jeff is honoring Scott's material, and doing the songs the way Scott intended. I can respect a guy who approaches doing a dead legends job the way the legend would have him do it, rather than trying to put his own spin on it. Betcha anything Jeff used to sing along to Plush when he was a kid, and knew every every word before he ever even auditioned 🤟😝🤘
Best guitar sound out there. Somehow vintage AND modern at the same time. The stellar playing doesn't hurt either!
Saw them live over 30 years ago and was blown away by his tone and clarity…. They opened for megadeth 😂

This sounds excellent overall but Dean’s guitar tone is next level. Also sounds like he’s playing two separate parts at the same time on occasion. What an incredible band 🙌🏻

I personally just haven't been able to really vibe with him. His voice is spot on and in many ways better live, but I feel like he's in a tribute band since he's trying so hard to be on the mark with Scott. I would have preferred they went with someone who had a little more flair to them, but in their own way... perhaps even a female front. One of the bands that gives me the most sincere feeling and is active despite so many setbacks, we fans can only be grateful for seeing this happen!!
Jeff is tremendous and was an excellent choice. So happy for him and the band.
Very good fit for Scott
New singer is awesome and can fill old shoes. You guys are still heavier than wet carpet. Funny story, I worked at a music store in the 90's and the owner would always push the employees to ask customers if they were in a band, what was the name etc. So, he's making that exact point one day with a new dork guitar sales dude who didn't ask the perfunctory music store questions, owner turns and asks the customer next to him if he's in a band, etc. Dude says , yes, band is called STP, was Robert DeLeo. They were huge right then and it was hysterical. Total coincidence, Robert may remember that, was in Richmond, Va. at Metro Sound.
Hard to believe this album is over 30 years old now.

That's what I'm saying. They should've released the audio version for streaming like Papa Roach did back in 2020. I'd definitely purchase these new takes on old songs.
Jeff goes beyond impression or caricature. It's almost like he's channeling Scott, and not in a lurid or disrespectful way. He embodies a hero of his, and it shows. It's like shamanism, wearing a mask around the fire.
That is an apt assessment. Well put.
Amazing in studio live performance. Great sound overall great balance between all instuments and in the mix.
The band absolutely slays, of course, this album is baked into their bones, so the execution of the material is as perfect as you can get with only one guitarist.
Jeff is absolutely stellar, I can't think of anyone else who could come as close to this or honor Scott's vocals as well as Jeff does here. It's pretty impeccable.
