Simply put, no. 4.0 will not be worth it. They'll release some new features that will take 6 months to a year to be remotely playable.
The PU will remain an unfinished alpha till 2030 AT BEST. I know what some are thinking, once they release squadron 42 we'll see quicker progress. For some reason people seem to forget that they're releasing it in episodes or chapters. So they'll start working on the fixing the bugs of squadron 42 followed by the next episode or chapter for the game. If the fans believe they're going to turn their attention to the PU then I got a bridge to sell everyone. I'll even sell the bridge at warbond prices

That's the general pattern lol yup.
Given that we don't even have persistent hangars yet, I'm betting that the lead up to 4.0 will be more of the same where the list of features gets smaller and smaller with the actual 4.0 patch being a hollow shell of what was promised and the rest following in sub patches. And who knows persistent hangars might roll to 4.0 while they are at it.
I doubt it, persistent hangers are in Evo and scheduled for 3.24.
I don't really care about anything in 4.0 except server meshing. I want it in the game so CIG stops hiding behind this tech that is a prerequisite to all the amazing stuff they've promised. I wouldn't be surprised if they only use one server for each star system, to avoid having issues with servers not sharing the data properly, like it happened during the SM test earlier this year. Then CR will come out to say this is just first implementation and we should expect better stuff later then quickly distract us with a new jpeg.
I'm supporting the company to the end, I get stuff happens (been here for 12 years of it), but right now, I JUST want my fricken personal hangar.
I recon if they're gunna drop Pyro, then they may even drop extra 1 or 2 star systems. If they're waiting for server meshing to drop pyro, who's to say they don't have another couple ready that they've been keeping quiet. Wishful thinking. I really just hope that because of the engineering coming in, that the Cutlass Black is brought up to gold standard. Whatever happens, it's gunna be fun. I've still got a million things i havent done yet in the current patch.

For all of the reasons you listed about Pyro, I most like won't go there. I've been playing for little over a year in SC. I enjoy mining, salvage, and cargo runs. I'm sure, eventually, I'll get a fighter and improve my skill in PVP and PVE, I'm just not there now. I do enjoy the added features and improvements with each patch, so I'm content at the moment.
Lot is in CIG best interest to take as long as possible and make as many ships as possible to make more money.
NPC crew. We need NPC crew more than new systems and ships. 4.0 looks cool, though.
Star Citizen needs to take time on little QoL things, and most of all write missions, add reputations reward, add stable economy to be engaging. It's been a long time that they are working on fundamental pure tech (RL, SM, Star Engine, ...) Now 4.0 (and btw already now with 3.23 with the import stuff from squadron) they need to focus on small details that make the game polished and motivate people to invest time on it
So basically all the things we've been asking for since forever.
I think the issue is they promise this fantastic experience and when you finally get it, the bugs are so frequent and bad it ruins the experience. Espescially after the servers degrade after the first 48 hours and the experience becomes the usual SC one.
I don't know if it was XT fatigue or MM issues.
But the last few days for my crew the servers where almost empty, around 20 people in the server (a few times in a row) I don't know if it was just (bad) luck.
We had no fights at ghost hollow for weeks, We used to have good fun at hollow every time we logged in.
For me personally its MM, I rather play something else at the moment then flying a airbus in 'space'.
W'll probably log back in in 4.0 to check out pyro, but if they don't fix the flight model it will be a short try out.
Until a year can be affixed to its release, I am not expecting or worrying about it. Historically they have all been disappointments.
It will probably end up being lackluster just like the last few "big" patches were. Gameplay will likely still be clunky as hell with loads of lag and stupid AI.
4.1 will be it

The only thing I’m looking forward to is using the wormhole. Considering the fact that they probably are going to get rid of the little “mini game” while in the wormhole, that excitement is even less.
