Yep. I want to be a dropship pilot, and if I'm in someone else's ship I'm wondering how long I have to wait before I can fly my own again. The people attracted to this game want to fly.
Hopefully when the game goes live, if ever, they'll offer game packages with no ships for $45 while selling the full game package for $60 or $70 to get a ship.
Dunno. In Planetside we had a fair turnover of drivers and gunners because of pull timers and different people having different vehicle setups. Driver (or pilot) was determined by who had the most appropriate setup available to pull for what the group needed to do.
Something I realize I didn't get to touch on here. While features and functionality are seeing updates, the overall format of playing the game has still not changed. Major changes to missions, warning potential, and the reputation system are needed for this to truly feel like a different game from what we've had. They've talked about these things, but we've yet to see them prove them out. So 2024 is different for gameplay, but maybe not THAT different.
Definitely the best way to go is to buy during a sale when they have a bonus ship giveaway like CitCon or IAE using someone’s referral code. That way you save money, get better insurance, and a free ship out vehicle.
Honestly, it gets worse with every Patch, Just more and more broken Features are added to the game, added at tier0, then patched to totally broken and useless and then they Just ignore it for years. The Tiny little Momentum they got during Citizen Con is gone, and it only gets worse from here. With the upcoming changes they basically kill the Cargo gameloop by adding a massive time gate to the loading Process. No one Wants to wait for hours until the Cargo is loaded and unloaded, at the current state its 5 Hours wait time to load and 5 hours to unload for the big Cargo Ship. Thats not Gameplay, thats a time sink. Nothing more, nothing less.
First half of the year is almost up ;). Like you stated, would love to see some progression to how the game is played by changes to reputation, missions etc.
Knowing them they are capable of adding more bolt-ons in the timeframe cargo will be wrapped up and they can make it a much bigger deal than originally slated.
The naming of the patch doesn't make a difference. It'll be on the same schedule it was prior to any name change. This just let's them change capitalize more on the update.
I’ve been playing star citizen since the 3.1 patch. So since 2018?? 6 years have gone by and I’m woefully disappointed with the current state of the game. I jump in to test each patch, and don’t think I’ve had a smooth experience since 3.17 - and that’s mainly coz it was out for so long that they were able to put some somewhat-decent fixes in place. But it’s constantly felt like one step forward, two steps back. Every patch there is game breaking bugs that destroy any enjoyment I get from the game. Until they can deal with game breaking bugs, horrendous lag and desynch, and actually enjoyable gameplay that isn’t the most basic (unchanged in 6 years) and boring loop - I’m just not getting interested in this game.
Well, let's look at it this way. There were 7 ships in the 12-month ship preview at CitCon. With 7/12 months already passed, they've only released the MPUV tractor (because it's small) and the Retaliator gold pass (because it already existed). The Polaris, Legionnaire, Mirai Heavy Fighter, Zeus, and Apollo are nowhere to be seen. Not looking so great after the first of two major ship sales for the year having already passed without any substantial releases. The fact they're focusing on the Zeus exploration first without exploration gameplay being a thing yet truly displays how little they prioritize the wants of the backers.
Probably been said a thousand times already by other posters, but dang, you have the perfect narration voice, cadence and inflection for these videos. And unfortunately, your content is good and informative. Unfortunately - because im going to need to start culling my YT subscribed channels, just too many. But ive seen enough of your content now, and all are very well produced, interesting and informative and I want your channel on my list. Thanks for what you do so well😊
How is it getting better? AI still bugs out all the time or standing on chairs even in fresh, low pop servers, missions bugging out, ships randomly exploding because you dropped a bottle of water inside or for no reason at all, players glitching through floors or planet surfaces at random, items randomly despawning, ... I get it, you make money with SC content and you need to keep the hype up, but being more honest about the games state would be ... well, more honest.
So because stability sucks certain things are still broken it hasn't improved in other places? How is it getting better: DLSS/FSR Vulkan API An actual Ammo display in FPS lol Minimaps A functional Starmap Larger ground locations that aren't a 2017 asset made for a demo Server meshing has been tested by players FPS AI is responsive and active on good servers The Economy is being rebalanced The flight model has been unified Physicalized Cargo Usable Storage Containers Easier respawn options for players Cargo Hauling Missions How is it still bad: Ship sales Stability sucks No release date in sight Servers are overloaded I talked about all of these negatives in the video, and less than half of the positives. So what are you on about? I stated in the video itself that the game is still trash to play, that players should stay away, that it's buggy and glitchy. AND STILL clowns like you come in the comment section saying "ahhhh gotta be more honest". Dude I'm telling people NOT TO PLAY THE GAME. Do you have ears?
Currently it is easy to be blinded by its progress and new stuff. What is often forgotten are all the ships that are broken or need a rework. The Reclaimer, Starfarer, Mole, etc. ... And on to there comes new stiff that will also need fixing. Yes it is getting better - but it just takes a look into the issue coucil to realise that much that is there right now still requires fixing. ... and not everything is meshing related.
They also seem to be oblivious to the idea in software development called "regression testing". I thought these were "industry veterans"? They seem more like 14 year old modders.
Thanks for the video (of "talk"). I really enjoy these! I've been away from SC for a while since... well, you can guess it, but 3.18 (that was bad). I dont' really follow all the newsletters either nor watch a lot of videos (I used to, but figured, why follow the roadmap if it'll let you down? etc). But this video was a nice overview and catch up for me. THanks!
I was really excited for all the advances this year and the latest patch. Until Master Modes, the new flight model took most of the fun out of the game... I really hope cig listens to the crazy amount of negative feedback and try to revert parts of master modes. we got a lot of crew members gradually losing interest and a big factor is the boring new flight model... But time will tell if that was a good decision or not...
I do hope they don't go back on master modes. we've spent years waiting for them to naturally slow combat speeds down and it didn't work. I hope they continue to balance the game around the flight model, as it's currently not. But there are a lot of new additions that don't focus on ship flight, I'd give the new FPS content a try!
@@SpaceTomato speeds have gone down but I don't feel it solved anything. * Jousting is still the most used PVP fight style. * Every pvp'r has a cannons loadout and shoots from about 1km of distance, so fights are not closer * NPC's still ram you every chance they get. And some personal issues * I really dislike the new boost system * It feels like your always flying it atmosphere even when in space. * the artificial limiters are annoying (for example when you are pitching up, the target moves to the side, your pitch slows down because you use yaw... ) * the 35G magic space break when you switch from nav to scm feels really arcady. * a lot of ships have bad tunings, fly awful and feel the same, and when there is really little wiggle room I don't know if you will feel a lot of difference between ships in the same category. For me personally MM has broken way more than it fixed. I really think that if they iterated over the old model and tuned that in, gradually improved some of the mechanics, it it would be an overall better experience. And I honestly think its less work to get the 3.22 model in good shape then get MM in a good shape thats again fun to fly and to learn. But time will tell if they can fix MM, or they leave it like it is and we get a 4th flight model by 2027 :) Its my own personal take, and if someone likes the current model, good! go fly in the verse and have fun!
I just don’t get it. Why have bad 3DOF in space? This game has vacuum and atmo. We can literally have both. We could have 6DOF in space, and 3DOF in atmo. If they want magic space speed limits fine, but this bizarre fake limits and magic speed brakes is the wrong way to do it.
Here's the thing bro. I love playing this game. It scratches the space itch for me. That being said, the game is pissing me off lately. Here's a small list of things that happened yesterday when I was on. Global chat was broken. F11 brings up the menu, words won't show up. Hit enter from the game, sometimes it would come up. Other times, it would just freeze the game. Bought a new ship, figured Id try it out with some simple delivery missions. Start to land on a completely empty landing pad, gatlin gun just randomly falls off. Go out to get it, can't pick it up. Try to use my multi-tool. Won't pick it up. Just glitches in and out at warp speed, so can't lock onto it. Go to holster my MT, doesn't work. It almost feels like my keyboard inputs work 75% of the time. All that aside, I realize my character is hungry and thirsty. Hit alt h to remove my helmet. Doesn't work. Hit alt f to do it that way. Doesn't work. Manually drag it off. Finally works. Can't equip food or drink. Throw food and drink on the ground and then pick it back up, magically works. It all seems to be server related. The lag and unresponsiveness most of the time, is frustrating. Not to mention that pledge items bought with real money are lost upon death. That seems like a ludicrous oversight. People thatpay for things with real money, expect access to those things, no matter what. I still love this game. There's a ton to love. Just make it stable for everyone, please.
I'm not nearly as excited as you are about 2024. The updates they delivered are mostly QoL stuff taken from Sq42 and some of the those things are objectively terrible, like the new hud visuals, which are an unreadable, cluttered mess that focuses on form over function. The way I see it CIG has yet to prove they can make an actual game. Yes, we do have some gameloops, but without any meaningful progression, player driven economy and an overarching narrative that ties everything together, those are little more than tech demos and proofs of concept. And speaking of progression: the only kind if progression we have rn in the game is buying larger ships, which is completely corrupted by the fact that they are selling those ships on their website, so they'll have a ton of work to do if they ever want to get away from the image of SC being blatantly p2w. To me the crucial moment for the development of SC only comes after 4.0 once server meshing is implemented and working, as it is needed to make the game properly function on a foundational level. After that we'll see whether the devs are capable of actually building a proper MMO with enjoyable gameplay and progression.
@@QuotidianStupidity it doesn't matter what may or may not happen in the future. If you can pay with real money for a statistical advantage in the game that should be earnable only through gameplay, which is the case for all of SC's ships except the starters, it is pay2win. So please stop trying to pull a donald trump here and spin the truth so it fits your narrative.
@@justalex4214 the ship you are talking about will get nerfed, just like all the others. Therefore there will be no winning or statistical advantage, just preference.
Playing 3 years now. I was having a blast when I started. Now the game is just feels meh. I didn't need bigger underground bunkers. I didn't need less fun flight. Crewing takes to long and pays trash. No longer excited for hangars and cargo. Just more of the same, with added bugs and steps backwards on improvements.
I am a long time backer 10 years ago... I checked it out maybe 5 years ago, buggy mess... but just started playing again 3 days ago and I am actually enjoying myself so much I was considering delaying the Elden Ring release! wuttttttttt? I did spend 80% of my first day of my star citizen googling bugs, and googling HTF the game works, what are the keys, where are missions, why doesnt this work, why cant i find this etc etc etc etc etc. but now, Im kinda a believer again.
Better? In 2024 we have gotten the worst downgrade to the flight model, wouldn't call that better. In fact to me that's the most important aspect, and made me abandon my most favorite game.
That's why I can't wait for horde mode. I wish there were more enemies to fight, to be honest. But they'll have to give us missions with set enemies, yeah.
it is amazing what moving an entire games worth of devs over to the PTU will do. Now that Sq42 is "done" all of those devs moved over to the PTU will make things move much more rapidly
right now I couldn’t enjoy the game because of the bugs that ruined my experience, which is understandable because it’s still in Alpha. I just hope they will eventually release the game and hopefully when that time comes, I’ll come back to play this game.
Yeah, now is a bad time to play when it comes to bugs and stability. I'm hoping server meshing maturing will allow them to focus more on stability. Thanks for the reasonable take o7
If they don't meet their 2024 end goal, will it actually matter in the short term? People who are already bought in to the experience has had quite a few experiences and there's more to come. However it doesn't mean it will actually be fun to play - interesting yes. But will it be a chore to start up knowing you've got x amount of minutes or hours of stuff to do before you can get started on what you really want to do? What if people don't want to let you do what you want to do? What scope is there for PvPvE? What scope will there be for building and making stuff to sell to others? When will that happen if it's going to happen? So yeah the Pyro system intro, instanced hangars and other stuff required to make it a connected game isn't the end goal it's just the beginning to get more solar systems online and flesh out the landscape in order to get people to enjoy what they want from Star Citizen.
Do you lost your ship in battle just like Eve Online? I know there are ship insurance in this game like Eve Online. So a related second question is do the ship insurance cover 100% of the cost to rebuild back the same ship lost?
Yes. If you lose your ship, you can make an insurance claim to replace for free with a timer, or for a few if desired faster. Average ship has about 9-10 minute claim timer. Starter ships are far quicker.
Yes, you can use this website to track progress and see they are about 40% through the year. wewclub.net/citizencon-2023-12-months-of-future-content-delivery-in-one-list/
What we need imo are determined roles. In FPS it would be f.e. a healer, a gunner, a grenadier and a heavy. And no, it can be done while keeping up the "realism". F.e.: All roles could need equipment that, if equiped, block other roles equipment (due to space and or weight). In addition, you can also have a realistic skill system, like the developer already discussed at some point. That would give the FPS a tactic component and a reason to teamplay. To be honest, its the absolute basic of FPS-gameplay with a very good reason. Same goes with shiproles. If the only role that makes a real difference is the pilot, multicrewing is meaningless. They are already about to implement a rather deep mechnic-role, wich is great! But the piloting for bigger ships could also be split into powerdistribution and weaponsystemcontrols. That beeing said, giant ships for 20 people upwards need to justify the amount of people that can board by giving them meaning. Different weaponplatforms should need a weaponplatformcontroller that controls a specific cluster of systems only. A huge powercore should need its own, different, mechanic gameplay that if handled by more people would not only still provide fun gameplay but also stacking the benefits of the extra hands, aso. Unless such things are implemented, multicrewing will be niche. And for most rather bland and boring. It would also tip the balance in favor to the bigger ships piloted solo. I know, that all of the mentioned are rather basic gameplayideas. But thats exactly why I am worried - just why didnt we have heard of a flashed out concept yet? Its like CIG is driving in complete darkness, making descisions rather on a whim. Granted, for a very long time that rooted in them not beeing able to know how long they could finance development. But that should be over for a couple of years already now. And at least some different concepts should always have been available.
The people who originally backed the game should be allowed the option of full refunds considering even Chris Roberts admits he isn't going to deliver on the game he originally promised, especially the SQ42 backers who don't even have so much as a demo after all these years.
Tomato, I have a hard time calling you a 'youtuber'. Your production level is so polished and professional. I swear Jared needs to make you a part of the team.. Except you're too effective outside of CIG.. You ARE outside CIG, right? RIGHT?!?
You expose how much you dont understand about how much 'progress' was actually made but couldn't be added because of the server issues. You think everything we have had delivered this year was made last year? You are almost there, but I'm not sure you 'get' SC still.
The only goals they meet are revenue goals. There are basic functionality like UI, inventory, gold standard ships, and server performance to name a few… it boggles my mind how little respect there is for the player base, because there is no other explanation for the state of the game as it is.
They can't optimize shit yet. They have to finalize certain builds and then work on optimization. I understand why it's frustrating but it's even more frustrating when people complain about things they don't understand.
@@Illfury its you that doesnt understand. i never mentioned optimization. the ui design and functionality is crap, floating windows that you at times cant even activate because you cant "reach", when you do activate there is no tactile sound that lets you know youve activated the button so most ppl just keep spamming F. same with the inventory menus, they are clunky and poorly designed. i could go on and on... these are things that should have been completed years ago.
Mining with the prospector or Argo mole is not broken. It works just fine. It's just not very lucrative, big payouts are very difficult to mine even with fully crewed Arco mole.
i get more and more the feeling all the pre work is finly paying off, Also one thing i notice bugs and bad perfoamnce are anyo me more beuceses i can see this creatnis!
It's literally not. I just got in game to check it out last night. Pulled out my 890. Gangway didn't extend. Had to EVA 2.2k to get on board. Still had to request takeoff even though the gangway wasn't attached. Once I was "cleared for takeoff" (you don't takeoff from a gangway in space) my ship was unresponsive and immediately spinning out of control. After about 5 seconds it threatened me for blocking a landing zone, then impounded my ship leaving me floating in space. I then had to EVA 2.2k back to the station, pay a fine, get my ship back, call it again. This time the gangway extended but when I crossed over I was in EVA and could clip through walls. Sat in the pilot seat and instantly everything disappeared. The ship, Port Tressler, everything. I was just teleported somewhere out into space way above MicroTech just floating there. At that point I said yep, still unplayable after 20 years and quit. This game is HOT FUCKING GARBAGE. I'm sorry did I say game? It's not a game. I don't know what this thing is.
I hope they manage to finish the rest of the items CIG plans to have out this year. I hope they manage to avoid dipong with how they omplement restoration of purchased items. But i also hope they do more to comnect game loops together, an exploration and data commerce gameloops could be a method to do that but as far as i know those loops sre not in a tive development right now. But they could just be keeping quiet on those things.
"Will They Meet Their 12 Month Goal?" LOL have they ever? NO The post on spectrum was right Tomato is going to have do a follow up/ correction vid. Update is delayed! surprise?
They need star citizen to be in a reasonable state come the launch of SQ42 to capitalize on a large wave of potential players. it wouldn't make alot of sense to release SQ42 with SC in an unplayable state. My prediction SQ42 Xmas 2025 launch and SC1.0 at the same time with fully functioning server meshing, exploration, hacking, org management/permissions, base building, crafting all in atleast a tier1 state (not tier0), engineering, boarding/docking, etc, etc, etc
This game began in 2009 (active development) *16 YEARS AGO* (Yes that 2-3 years of shopping around for failed attempt publishers funding and the actual crowd funding year counts towards their dev production years, it's not an excuse to dismiss those years for their incompetence of not doing actual work and crap project and time management). And this so called game is no where near being finished; you all still are using the old/lame/tired excuses and talking point of they started with a hand full of dev and switching engines (another branch of cry engine) as valid excuses for a delay product of +16 years ? Riiiiiiight! I surprise you guys are not using some new excuses to validate your defense in supporting this theranos/enron like scheme with "the Pandemic shutdowns is to blame" excuse for the delay.
Probably 30 fps in cities, 50-60 in outposts on high. Wouldn't recommend very high - some weather effects are not optimised at all. My 3090 did drop down to 10-20 in the rain on very high.
@@schwarzer_peter9839just turn off the clouds they give updates on every monthly report and not only does visibility get better, but so does performance
Make sure you turn off volumetric clouds. I have similar setup and it handles the game very well. You won't have any issues. I also set the dlss at 50% performance I have a few short clips on my channel I uploaded recently plus my hardware specs in the descriptions if you're interested to see the results o7
MM is all that stops me and my friends from playing. I dunno how CIG is not seeing this as a problem. Still watching what is happening in that project but can't play it anymore ☹️
Idk man, I like MM travel out of quantum doesn't feel like a chore anymore, combat feels riskier, and I'm not chasing people down when their shields run out any more, which was honestly the thing I hated most about the last flight model.
This is a game for my grand kids in 10 years I have over 17k invested with all the best in show ships w LTI jest picked up the 2 pack of ironclad but due to health issues I might not to be. There when it comes to play my grandson is only 5 so I'm guessing it will be ready for lunch when he turns 15 or 16 and how many ships will they keep putting out and how many will go down to history like the hornets amd how many of my ships will be obsolete when he begins to play now i play game as solo player as of now because of health issues do not wont to get attached to some of the wonderful players out there including you the player that killed me for my cargo other night
Youbhave 17000 but have health issues, sounds like you should have prioritized more and taking better care of yourself and not been so relaxed with your resources!
This is why this channel is MY top go to for Star Citizen news. Great production, informative, & without coming off as a biased fanboy or a pessimistic fanatic, yet still giving solid advice/ suggestions. Great video as always.🏆
Its getting better? 🤣😂 ah thats why everyone I know dropped the game a few hours after 3.23 patch and refuse to play it in its current state , it got better right
Out of all the features presented on CitizenCon 2023 the only thing they "kinda" implemented is a map. I have no hopes for this project anymore and I was S-Tier Chris Roberts Simp. I just gave up. There isn't a game to play.
2024 faster 😂😂😂😂😂 that’s funny 😂😂😂 the only thing that’s true about CIG is they can continue to tell you a date they plan to hit but will never hit said date. They can’t even get us unique item recovery info until cit con. After 10 years + and $700M + you can’t even add simple features to the game something is wrong.
Best case scenario seems to be Open Season Ganking. I'm sure that's fun for some people, but definitely not up my alley. And that's assuming any of this even works out at all.
the project is in a terrible state ... more bugs, less fun, less simulation, horrible dsync between players .... I never saw SC in a so bad state. Fast Progress lol ... after so long take more than 2 month to make an Hangar look a bit long for me, it's just same box with Items inside like we got already to a simple place. I can imagine for the rest to be done how long he should take. Horrific driving simulation for vehicle ( the worse I saw in my life ).Meshing will not save us ... Arena with 10 players is lagging .... hoppe another company will take their asset and make a real game working.
@@SpaceTomato i have well over 5,000 hrs+ since '17. This is the first time ive ever felt the need to step away from the project for a long time, that includes info sadly. Now everything everyone has stated about their problems with the state of the game is spot on. I played with a streamer daily in his org for over a year and i can even tell he is fighting threw it to maintain his viewers and stay positive. Its feels worse than during the Cryteck lawsuit time and it feels just as bad as 3.18 some days. Hopefully its growing pains and not CR repeating past mistakes from previous projects.
Yeah, for me personally, I played the game fairly deeply in 2021 around the Siege Event where it felt like gameplay was getting pushed more frequently and that game was KIND of stable. Albeit still kinda shit. I'd backed in 2018 but the game was fucking unplayable and my computer barely ran it. I tried again when I beef'd up my computer a few years later. I stopped playing well before 3.18 chubbed and haven't really felt the need to come back, nothing on offer foundationally changes the experience in a meaningful way. Lots of QoL new UI and better functionality and complexity but these things don't really much matter when the game is still 90% timesinks. Im personally going to come back for Pyro only for the bare minimum purpose of flying around and taking pictures...will the game be WORTH playing? Idk. I think personal hangars (and them being able to be moved) with vehicle spawning will be huge for reducing timesinks. Quantum Hopping is the next key feature for me, with MM making us slower than ever I think this feature is now more or less necessary. If they can introduce Exploration T0 with scanning for random events in space nearby? Even better. I don't PERSONALLY care about Reputation until launch, because like aUEC and everything else, it's partly meaningless unless Reputation doesn't get wiped at all until launch. Then I might care but I don't personally think Progression is the issue the game has. I think the game just isn't actually fun right now. It's 90% timesinks, redoing, losing progress, getting mission progress wiped randomly, randomly dieing, etc. Not to mention it takes them 2 years to come out with 1 more meaningful location to do nothing but a kill mission. Every new location is a "revolution" that changes almost nothing, comes in half done, and gets abandoned. If Pyro has all the same issues I don't see why anyone should play. For me the "Bare minimum to play again seriously": 0) Master modes even remotely fucking finished. Sorry this is a fucking slap job, half the ships have copy pasted ships. My "main ship" that I use to get around which is the 400i just got its stats from the Corsair copy and pasted...it's 100% a dogshit game experience right now. Mastermodes doesn't have any of the foundational systems that it was intended to be included with: engineering and parts targeting, maelstrom and armor to help ships that are armor'd be less dependant on shields, and ridiculous gun balancing...not to mention atmo flight experience like control surfaces and true VTOL. 1) More than just Pyro, like sorry it's not that compelling of a system....a place full of shitty nutjob factions for edgelords and a pvp contestable area where the quest design has to allow for someone randomly ganking you at all times. Hopefully Nyx is a big push for better PvE content. I also miss Levski and it's my fav location in the game still. Looks like a place I'd take pictures but why waste time in a system that has no interesting factions, no interesting POIs like towns, and is actively hostile all the time. Idk sounds like a nightmare, not a fun time. Maybe if they add exploration gameplay where I can be rewarded for being at the fringes...but Im not questing in a place where you are constantly under attack. 2) Personal Hangars but everywhere, we need more than just 1 home location and the home location should be moveable. Something they said won't happen on first iteration...meh. Im not landing on fucking Loreville every time I want to get access to my main inventory, sorry. 3) Quantum Hopping + Random events. Like if the game is going to be 90% timesinks have something happen sometimes as well as cut them down. I don't care if it's Quanta or just an RNG event generator like NMS...just put something there that I can run into during Quantum (not just being pirated) and something that might pop up in my scanner that isn't just a mineable rock or salvage ship which requires me to be in an entirely different ship to even benefit from. 4) The Railen....I want it so bad. 5) Better and more variety in location design for quests. Stations are boring (legit 4 rooms on shuffle). UGF is 1 building copy-pasted with no meaningful variety. Pyro colonialism outposts (during the demo) was like 4 buildings with 2 overlay options copy and pasted over and over....same problem Derelicts had and I imagine you'll even see repeat buildings next to each other just like Derelicts where immersion gets fucking pummeled by rushed level design for a marketing window. Colonialism building set is going to need at least like 12 main buildings and 20 or so sub-buildings/addons with lots of fake buildings to break up landing zone looks or it's going to get old on mission number 4 when I see that yes...I'm in that building with the garage with an Ursa in it again which is next to that building with the windows and the plants again. 6) Mission progress not getting scrubbed constantly. If I can log in and keep working on a mission I had previously? You've got a customer who might play your game.
Star Citizen at this Point although still promising, is no longer ahead of anything else, even if they finish it now, they are not that far ahead of any other competitor, Time might be the worst enemy of Star Citizen.
If they add ai are a crew then it eill become pay to win because when you buy big big ship you cant operate it alone you need people to work for it like a squad.
The project was not mismanaged. The team was learning as they go. Which is absolutely not an easy thing to do. Mistakes take time to correct. Corrections take time to implement. If it was easy, everybody would have done in the industry by now.
All we can do is speculate from our perspective, until they speak more about the details! You can say they prioritized everything perfectly for 10 years straight, but I fully believe there were mistakes made in that time. And that's okay.
@SpaceTomato Of course they are not perfect for 10 years. They are not the borg! They have made many mistakes. Some from ignorance. Some from ambition. But none from lack of trying something that has never been done before.
"Are they sticking to their beginning of the year promises" You should know better. Goals are not promises. It's BACKERS who are told goals, and hear promises. Space Tomato is part of the problem, and that's disheartening.
The latest letter from the chairman that mentioned a 1.0 release, and the community some how pulled a date for release out of it, is a great example of that. Not sure Tomato had any part of it though.
@@SpaceTomato we were supposed to have pyro summer 2024. It’s not looking like we will get it this year. Item recovery goners, something we haven’t been able to reclaim from 3.15 but they still sell the gear on the store.
Too many ship captains and not enough crew players will be a problem.
I hope it will be fixed with 1.0, plenty of new players willing to aid in the bigger ships.
Yep. I want to be a dropship pilot, and if I'm in someone else's ship I'm wondering how long I have to wait before I can fly my own again.
The people attracted to this game want to fly.
I'm a ship owner, but I buy them more to be part of the crew than the captain.
Great analysis. Thank you Mr. 🍅
Overpromesis, sale and repeat, every year the same story
Just settling into bed and new space tomato video drops, perfect.
EDIT: real nostalgia trip seeing Wingman and Rob
Hope you enjoyed it :)
There's still ZERO player-focused content. It's all based around what ship you own, rather than what type of player you are.
Great video, the production and youtube management below is very good.
Thank you! I think i will wait another few months and then over the Winter buy the game and play
The volume on this video is great!!
Thanks, you mean like the audio volume??

No wonder, both Tropic Thunder and Star Citizen are the same age.
I don't want to "jump in and try". I want a complete finished game.
First half of the year is almost up ;). Like you stated, would love to see some progression to how the game is played by changes to reputation, missions etc.
Really need rep and missions
Just after you drop this. 3.24 XD
How does CIG avoid being late at the last minute for 3.23... call it 3.24, CIG never changes.
Knowing them they are capable of adding more bolt-ons in the timeframe cargo will be wrapped up and they can make it a much bigger deal than originally slated.
I expected, and frankly hoped that they would delay it and include it in the 4.0 patch. It still might happen...
The naming of the patch doesn't make a difference. It'll be on the same schedule it was prior to any name change. This just let's them change capitalize more on the update.
“Will they meet their 12 month goal?”
No
Responding to the title/thumbnail is always a bad idea, I sometimes change them, and UA-cam now supports A/B testing
Until they can deal with game breaking bugs, horrendous lag and desynch, and actually enjoyable gameplay that isn’t the most basic (unchanged in 6 years) and boring loop - I’m just not getting interested in this game.
jumped in today, cool updates, but its not verry good given the time and money allotted to this project.

How is it getting better:
DLSS/FSR
Vulkan API
An actual Ammo display in FPS lol
Minimaps
A functional Starmap
Larger ground locations that aren't a 2017 asset made for a demo
Server meshing has been tested by players
FPS AI is responsive and active on good servers
The Economy is being rebalanced
The flight model has been unified
Physicalized Cargo
Usable Storage Containers
Easier respawn options for players
Cargo Hauling Missions
How is it still bad:
Ship sales
Stability sucks
No release date in sight
Servers are overloaded
I talked about all of these negatives in the video, and less than half of the positives.
Indeed, the game still has a ways to go!
The flight model team don’t have a clue what they are doing.
Everything they change seems to be a complete surprise to them, there is no forethought.
THanks!
Its unplayable...I am such an idiot for giving them money.
* Every pvp'r has a cannons loadout and shoots from about 1km of distance, so fights are not closer
* NPC's still ram you every chance they get.
And some personal issues
* I really dislike the new boost system
* It feels like your always flying it atmosphere even when in space.
* the artificial limiters are annoying (for example when you are pitching up, the target moves to the side, your pitch slows down because you use yaw... )
* the 35G magic space break when you switch from nav to scm feels really arcady.
But time will tell if they can fix MM, or they leave it like it is and we get a 4th flight model by 2027 :)
Its my own personal take, and if someone likes the current model, good! go fly in the verse and have fun!

It clearly isn’t P2W… there is no winning.
Progression is currently also measured by your reputation with factions.

@@QuotidianStupidity it doesn't matter what may or may not happen in the future. Master Modes ripped the soul out of the game. And for what?
Sounds like you just need to take a break from SC

Good stuff!
My only thing with the ground fps missions is. The endless repawning of enemies.
That's why I can't wait for horde mode. I wish there were more enemies to fight, to be honest.
But they'll have to give us missions with set enemies, yeah.
Love your videos, Tomato 🍅, they are much appreciated!
Thank you for watching them
With each new patch, what will happen to the customizations made in the individual hangars? Will they be reset?
it is amazing what moving an entire games worth of devs over to the PTU will do.
You will only get back a standard version of that ship though. All upgrades to components and weapons will be lost
@@QuotidianStupidity Thanks for the info .. that is good to know.
Sure, if they keep changing their goals Realistically have they met any goals at all in time?
Yes, you can use this website to track progress and see they are about 40% through the year.
wewclub.net/citizencon-2023-12-months-of-future-content-delivery-in-one-list/
What we need imo are determined roles. In FPS it would be f.e. a healer, a gunner, a grenadier and a heavy.
And no, it can be done while keeping up the "realism".
F.e.:
All roles could need equipment that, if equiped, block other roles equipment (due to space and or weight).
Hold up, drop 45-60 bucks on a ship BEFORE spending "real money"?
I'm out.
What?
Maybe I misspoke, but there is no need to spend "real money". Literally just buy the game and play lol
Great video, as always

So happy I found this channel. Just got the game and you have a great speaking voice and make clear points and descriptions. Two thumbs up!
This guy and phaseone gaming redefined are straight to the point, no bloated click bait bullshit.
doesnt the new server copy the error tho so its likely to crash again etc?
Not from what I've seen.
It could happen, and may be something to figure out, but in my experience the servers do fine after a recovery.

What do you mean "It's literally not"? What are you responding to?
I hope they manage to finish the rest of the items CIG plans to have out this year. I hope they manage to avoid dipong with how they omplement restoration of purchased items.
But i also hope they do more to comnect game loops together, an exploration and data commerce gameloops could be a method to do that but as far as i know those loops sre not in a tive development right now. But they could just be keeping quiet on those things.
It’s gotten better for the past 10 years otherwise we’d still be walking around only a hangar looking at a couple of ships😂

7:24 that is star citz you got it in a nut shell there bud, normaly gets to much hype in vids but yeah give them $40 or $60 lol.
For me the "Bare minimum to play again seriously":
0) Master modes even remotely fucking finished.
New player i have slow connection, the download of SC application as e pause and resume i cant dowload continueli nearly 100 gb on one time tanks
great game but its always laggy with 80 people in server lol never mind trying to get 800 in it
Star Citizen at this Point although still promising, is no longer ahead of anything else, even if they finish it now, they are not that far ahead of any other competitor, Time might be the worst enemy of Star Citizen.
Will They Meet Their 12 Month Goal?

2024 is going to be another one patch year lmao
"Are they sticking to their beginning of the year promises"
You should know better.
New farming simulator just announced, time to ignore all the cool Star Cities updates for ⅜ of the year...
Its looking grim bud
How?
@@SpaceTomato we were supposed to have pyro summer 2024. It’s not looking like we will get it this year.
Item recovery goners, something we haven’t been able to reclaim from 3.15 but they still sell the gear on the store.
