  • As a beginner, learning how to correctly model, sculpt and texture assets can be a daunting task, especially with stylized 3D models.
In this tutorial, Jess swings by Stylized Station to share tips and tricks that anyone can use to assist them on their modeling journey. Jess will break down his fantasy scroll model, and explain each step along the way, using Blender, Zbrush and Substance painter.
Each section has a ton of information, and any beginner to intermediate level artist will have a ton of stuff they'll pick up to use in their workflow for future projects.

what a great job! Is there a correct way after making the highpoly model to make the low fetlock? retopo? this passage escapes me.

    May I ask:
When the low poly model is imported to substance painter (I assume via fbx export from blender) is it one joined mesh or multiple objects?
Just because based on the uv layout shown at 7:14 the uv map looks to be prepared to be for a single mesh but the meshes themselves are not joined.
Anyway, very good video, love the style!

Cool! I couldn't see any render tutorials in channel. Please make some Marmoset/Substance Painter render tutorials please. It would be great to see how to render assets with and without textures.

Really cool model. However, I wish the tutorial had been completed thoroughly. There are numerous gaps that leave us to imagine or guess. A magician never reveals their secrets, and neither did you. This seemed more like a model showcase than a comprehensive tutorial.. Liked the video and keep up with the great job!

yea, it would be more helpful to see the process, not him explaining his finished product and just showing the project files

    • @lawrencelawine9082
      @lawrencelawine9082 3 роки тому +2

yep unfortunately many of these "tutorials" are just presenting kind of the final product and turning on and off the different layers and naming them. The in depth explanation is missing for me. I'm not a beginner in Substance for example, but just shortly showing the layer and the blackface generators are not enough for me, doesn't feel satisfying and doesn't teach me anything new. For beginners it must be completely confusing and meaningless.
It would be nice to go into these generators a bit more in depth, showing what exactly they doing, how they behave on the model according to the different setting options.
Also for me it seems that some of the presented final "game" assets seem extremly high poly for what they are. If the shown models are key elements for certain games, then it is understandable, but if it is just some eye candy, I think the lead artist will rip off your head because it is not optimized at all. Way too overdetailed for just some scroll that is laying around multiple times.
It would be really nice to REALLY see a game asset, how it is made so that it is ultra optimized and game ready.
The shown models feel more like portfolio art instead of game art.

This whole channel seems like an absolute clickbait.
There is not a single full video you can even get close to follow.
They always dedicate a lot of time to certain stuff and just move on.
I dont really see the point.
Not like we need a step by step, but the way they change from one subject to another seems like.... wrong.
