I love this radio it sounds amazing
When powering a radio direct from the battery which is the wire that carries the main load, the permanent live or the switched live?

The inline fuse on the battery isn't done to 'double the protection', it's done to prevent a potential fire if there is short somewhere between the battery and the unit's provided fuse.
You are absolutely correct sir, but, If if one fails the power is going to stop anyway. That extra inline fuse really is unnecessary. If the one fails you are losing power to the head unit, and any other power source that is getting a signal from it. Double inline fuse is never in need unless running multiple power sources. The common sense law applies here. Maybe someone was thinking of a more complex system using other batteries. If so I would use a panel.
I put this in my PT Cruiser Convertible with Rockford Fosgate Prime speakers and the stock speaker wire...sounds great!

I have a 2003 Toyota celica gts with a factory jbl sound system with a build in amp if I was to install this head unit would I have to bypass the factory amp? If so is can I use the metra 70-8116 harness to bypass the amp?
What's the max volume you can turn it up to before it distorts?
I have the same head unit in my car with 2 way stock speakers. However, I' ve noticed that it has got no bass on the door woofers compared to my previous head unit (Alpine INE-S900R).
The test was conduced with the volume level up to 20/50.
Since I want to have a pure, HI-FI sound, options like MEGA BASS and CLEAR AUDIO+ were not activated.
During this test, the SUB WOOFER level was set on "SUB ATT." which is the minimum level possible.
May it be the cause of having no bass on my door speakers? Does the SUB WOOFER level control affect the bass level even when an external subwoofer is not connected?
Is there a DSP that I should set?
If that 's true, How can I do it?

what if you didn't run a cable to the battery and just plugged that yellow cable as an any other radio to the car harness, would that damage or over heat the cables, or even damage the Sony Stereo?
Is the 120 an upgrade? I recently purchased one and can't find any comparisons of the 2. I bought it from the best by the way Sonic. So any info or personal opinions would be appreciated. I was going to purchase the 100BT but it was replaced with the 120BT so I was wondering if there are differences and what gauge wire is on the harness from sony. I'm putting this in my 67 Mustang and the idiot before me used shitty wiring and left me short and unlabled or color coded. So it needs to be fixed with proper color coded wire and at the very least some bullet connectors. it look to be 16 gauge but want to buy the right colored wire, correct size and connectors. I bought this when it first came out and it didn't come with that first black box you showed , I do like it in my yukon keeps up nicely with my subs

That little Black power box didn't come with my decks. I bought 2 of them. mine is the 120 version. I installed one in my 67 Mustang and it keeps cutting off.

I plan to replace my sound system in my motorhome, it currently has a Sony CDX-C4750 single din stereo in it with a six speaker set up, 4 up front and 2 in the back (4 fronts are connected together and the sound is pretty poor; it sounds like it doesn't provide enough power when i crank up the volume more than half way. I replaced the speakers with Infinity Reference REF-6522ix 6-1/2", 2-Way Coaxial Car Speakers but no change.
What would you suggest?

Question: what if i am using my old amplifier (1500 watts )to build my sound system at my house but im using power brick instead of batteries.

Realistically what size wire is acceptable for running power to the amp from the battery? I'm thinking 14awg should be sufficient especially since Sony has the leads off the amp at 14awg
Mr. B it depends on length of wire. If your battery is a foot away from the stereo it might be fine. Google a chart of D.C. Current/ per foot of (copper)wire. You got a 15 amp fuse so assume you gonna have that much current. Your insurance won't cover u if your cheap power wire burns the car to the ground. 🔥🔥🔥

How do you wire this up for 2 ohm? I have some aftermarket front and rears that are 4ohm and the other vid said 2ohm stable would be fine for this unit. Thanks
You can get 2 ohms by wiring two 4 ohm speakers in parallel. There's no way to get 2 ohms from a single 4 ohm speaker.

With cd's falling out of fashion it would be awesome to use that extra space for amplifier equipment.
My own car has a very shallow dashboard so I've had to use a shallow non cd head unit with a separate cd changer for that of time I want to listen to a cd.
It is roughly half the depth of a standard hu, I'm sure you could squeeze a little 100w mono amp in the left over space for a hi powered 4.1 system (something like the little dvc 2ohm 100w amp used in most OEM subs)

What the hell is going on with sony head units and shit, they are all sold out practically and the GS820bt sure is sold out on Amazon and their site, and I've seen something about a shit ton of their models are having bugs and glitches and they are having input error flashes, I really want one a powerful single din for my 01 Dakota, I can't put in my 7 inch pioneer in. So I'd like the GS model because of front USB and rear so I could plug a drive in the rear to keep music on and the front for my phone charging.. should I wait and see if it clears up and they fix it or is there something similar out there of very high quality my limit though is about $300 but I wanna get the best deal possible

Does anyone know if this headunit beeps when powered off? I had a sony back in the day and it did that stupid beep beep beep beep beep after I shut my truck off.

Help! Can anyone of you tell me, do I just power it off the power line with the inline fuse? OR that line and the + - power at the harness? I can’t figure out if I’m supposed to supply power to the harness or not.
