How To Install an Aftermarket Car Radio with Bluetooth
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 лип 2024
- Installation of an aftermarket radio performed on a 2010 Subaru Impreza. Radio is a Sony MEX-BT3100P Even though this is a fairly new vehicle, it does not have bluetooth telephone capabilities from the factory. The owner of this vehicle decided to swap out the factory unit for a new unit capable of bluetooth, XM/Sirius satellite radio and Pandora Radio. This happens ot be a single-din radio. They are quite affordable and not hard to install. Be careful when dealing with plastic trim. The tabs are quite brittle and could crack.

Good video, but IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
not all vehicle wire harnesses are color coded. best way to do it is by using your owners manual from the radio and from the harness. they will each tell which wire goes to what. match up the wires based on what they send signal to (front right speaker to front right speaker, front left speaker to front left speaker, etc...)
Great step by step, I am going to attempt to do this. I was a little worried about the safety issues but you covered them.
Man said circumference

You lost me at the soldering part ...
you dont need to solder. just put on the heat shrink tubes
Yes, you need to solder them on, the heat shrink is just for insulating the wire lol
Ps Soldering is pretty easy, just get a cheap kit off eBay and do some practising
Unfortunately that is a very common cause of cars catching fire, it's always better to solder.
Preston Routh that's what i do now, i just got my licence and i was wondering if the black tape thing would last

Very nicely and clearly presented! Thanks
Z Worm Thank you
Everybody installing this 2din or any other 2din, you have to get a 15v to 12v constant buck drop down converter. test the wires coming from your cars stock for voltage, watts, and amps for when you turn the key on, when you crank the starter, and when the engine is running, to get the feedback from the running alternator. The alternator puts out a higher voltage than the battery, this is to power your car and keep the battery charged. your cars stock radio may have this already installed in it. Your aftermarket radio may not, depending on what country of manufacture and types of vehicles it was originally modeled for. don't install this radio without researching this first. That pop you get in your subs when shutdown or start up of vehicle is the residual surge. If you have an amp it would be a good idea to add a regulator. this would ensure the life and quality of your system.
Mate you are an absolute legend
Well done. Very helpful.

+CarsNToys Do I really have to really have to use the grounding point on the dash bracket, or would it be OK to just splice the (ground wires) black wires from the radio harness unto the adapter harness? Thanks!
NARK NARKO
That will work as well.

outstanding work how to install a car stereo by explaining step by step
+MANNY T Thank you!
question: What is the other plug/wire connector that was connected to the factory radio that seemingly just hangs there after installing the new head unit?
Not sure if you mentioned it but if your car doesn’t come with a usb from the factory, will you be able to use the USB in the aftermarket radio without any extra wiring? So in other words, can you use the USB port for things like music and charging without other wiring
Excellent
Im looking at new radios for the truck i just got. Id like to get one with aux input. Is there any other special wiring for this? And is it necessary to solder the wires together or can you just twist them together and put shrink tubing around the connections?
finally a easy to follow video thanks!
Welcome
Good video. I know this will help a lot of people. I try to post some How to videos myself for my builds
do you keep in the ground piece for the radio after instilation or just for coneccting?
Hello bro. Yesty i was doing this same job and when i connected all the harnesses just like you to make sure it was Working it was just fine. Had to leave the radio unplugged over night and today when doing everything again the display wont light up. I think i have power because the CD player makes a noise while turning the Key into acc Mode but apart from that nothing. Please help!!
'm installing on a motorcycle. Just a couple of questions. yellow goes to constant 12V, what do I connect the orange white illumination wire to on the bike. What does the blue & white wire connect to and the solid red, can they hook up to the same power on off wire .
I have this exact car radio and it has frozen. Its turns on but all it allows me to do is turn it off. Does anyone know how to undo this, I have tried pushing the reset button and nothing happens
Chris brown at the end tho 😅 I love it
Thank you getting the same things for my 2008 camry and getting a sub edit:you should do a sub installation video
Glad to help! Cheers.
I installed a radio on my car amd there was no sound and when i changed the channel it kept on skipping channels. I followed the instructions and connected the cables correctly. What could be wrong ?
dude you made it look so simple, time to try it myself
Just plan everything and take your time. It's not a bad job. Good luck!
legend has it he's still trying it himself 🤣
He's still doing it himself
If I buy a radio that says its compatible with my car do i really have to do all that crazy hot wiring or can i just plug and play, a helpful answer would be nice for this one and not a smart remark?
that's what I'm going to do to keep watching the video so I can learn how to install a car stereo this video I give 10 out 10
+MANNY T Thank you
My truck has a aftermarket stereo I'm sure but it doesn't have a stereo receiver, are all receivers the same from where they attach or would I have to put in a new radio.
awesome thanks!
VIDEO 10 OUT 10
+MANNY T Thank you
Hey so I did this in my 1998 Honda civic and I’m using a pioneer radio same setup you have basically and I wired everything properly checked over the work Atleast 10x but I’m still not getting power I have new battery new alternator just changed fuses in the front not too long ago any ideas ???
can you help,i installed the radio ,it works but the radio lose power when i start the car. Can you say what i did wrong?
The only thing that would have made this video better is if you put a link to crutchfield in the description. Great job!
+Carey Carter Thanks..glad to help!
That's what I'm in the comments section checking for, lol
is it possible to put the stereo on the bottom proportion of the trim case?
Here's something weird- not sure if it's it's my new Kenwood with the problem or not. After having the Kenwood 2 din installed for several mos, I then installed LED brake lights in my car on the left & right sides. After a while, I noticed my radio receptions was sometimes not as good as other times. THEN, I installed a LED in the 3rd brake light in the back window (the radio antenna is built into the rear window). Now, everytime I hit my brakes, I lose all radio reception. I never heard of this happening before and don't know what to do about it. Any insight to this mystery is appreciated.
this video did me well
Sweet.
I was wondering what the hell that wire was for the mic I'm installing my Bluetooth radio and it's been a long time since I've done this on the aftermarket harness is the power antenna the signal for your amp or is the remote turn on on the actual head unit the signal for your amp I'm sure I will have already installed this and figured it out but maybe you'll respond quick idk lol
What is the black bigger wire coming out of the back of the radio
Yo what wire harness did you use I need the same one he had
I tried to place a nice new sony bt and usb car stereo in my car (98 twingo). Strangely I can’t select the cd and usb option?? I cant eject a cd that is already inside it with the eject button. The sound is also low and poor when playing radio and bt audio. Anybody have a clue?? sidenote: the antenne cable is poorly attached. But i guess it shouldnt influence the cd/usb function. I also reset the radio with a ballpoint. No changes..
What is that black wire for? My avalanche has one and I don't know that is it
My stereo has two ports for the antenna, one is rimmed in red, one black. Which port do I plug my antenna into?
This guy: *wants Bluetooth*
Me: *wants cassette player*
Thanks mate.
Glad to help.
Was the adapter necessary? In the original you simply unclicked the adaptor from the radio console. Would you not have been able to simply adapt that into the new radio console, or did it not fit? I would think its a simple process of taking out the old, installing the new. (I've never done this and am new, here to learn ..)
You sound like your from Jersey, i just watched the movie goodfellas you have a similar accent
I have a 1993 Dodge dynasty LE can I use what I saw on you video to upgrade my radio to Bluetooth/Radio?
Check crutchfield.com and see what they have for your vehicle.
Why disconnect the battery terminal tho? It isn't powered when the car is on right?
Some cars will reset their software when power is lost. Or some need a radio code.
I didn't realize people were so inept and bummy. Everyone has to learn before they can do something but on so many of these videos half the comments are like, "WELP thanks for showing me that I should never try to do this". Maybe I'm an oldschool kind of guy raised by a masculine father but I pride myself in attempting to learn new useful skills.
do you need to ground the head unit yourself or can you just connect the head units ground wire to the wiring harness ground wire?
you can use the factory ground off the harness
What’s the name of the deck you’re installing?
What if my car has 4 harnesses. Do I have to buy something that connects all 4 harnesses to my Sony radio?
In some cars the factory car radio is built into the dash and you along with the ac and all of the knobs
Yea. You can still purchase an aftermarket kit from Metra for the climate control and move forward with a single or double din radio. Or, just buy a used unit if the factory one is hicking up.
Why do you have to disconnect the negative part at the battery?
Our 60 year old school installer fitted our new alpine CDE-153 EBT stereo by soldering our wiring into one of their own harness which took 10 minutes and $30 to make but you can buy a complete $200 harness.
wait, but why did you leave the little white and black connections that you pulled out from the original radio
what about for android zte zmax pro what stereo would I need or any suggestions
Jalissa I have the same phone lol
thanks a million......
Welcome.
With aftermarket radios like these, do steering wheel audio controls still work (volume, next track, etc.)?
+MrSaxmanJones Yes, but you need to purchase an adapter.
Where did you get the housing for that certain radio?
I have an alpine cda9835 .. when I had it installed years ago, the radio never worked .. could it be that they just didn't connect the antenna connection in the back ? or it slipped off .. I need to take it out and look
+d jones If it doesn't power on then most likely a ground issue. If you don't have am/fm reception, then I'd agree and say it's the antenna.
I didint unplug my battery now my radio won't work it's the fuse correct ?
