I would love to see this adapted to search and rescue missions! One camera on top for the person flying and one below for a second FPV for a search observer (or to share the experience with friends in the off times :) ).
Justin, yes, a very low budget kit could do a huge amount of good in 'small child wanders off into the fields' situations. Probably want a slower airframe for greater control, and low and slow ability.
Why? Regular camera drones with Flir cameras that can hover are way better for search and rescue. Why would you need or want something that goes 120 miles an hour and can't hover? And why would you want to to use multiple operators to accomplish what a single operator with a drone can. 🤷 Edit: You could say that something this fast could cover more ground. However, I would argue multiple drones flying slower can cover the same ground and do it more efficiently.
@@albatross8361 Actually you want to just use a drone. Why are you guys trying to reinvent the wheel. I had to double-check that your guys's posts weren't from 7 years ago.
Yes that would be next level! Have the camera on a rotating thing so you can look Port and starboard but it returns to looking straight by default. That would be sick
It was awesome to see TJ again! Gosh, making me want to splurge on that dji system... I was never happy with the old analog set ups. And that chair... I mean, just epic!
Thanks Aaron and dude dji HD is incredible. I never record from it myself I still use a gopro on my quads obviously. But the HD flight experience is flat out worth the price.
I cant imagine something more fun than that. Flying a real plane is much cooler but seems more of a serious ,focused task that wouldnt feel fun untill it was safely landed, this chair with crash forgiveness is just pure fun.
Having followed you guys from nearly the outset of your enterprise, I have been continuously impressed by your devotion to the hobby and your innovations in the hobby. To that end, I have a suggestion for a future show. I would be interested to see a plane that could be flown with different wings, the same body and power plant, same battery, and same weight. This would mean that each type of wing would also weigh the same, as would every version. Then, the planes could be evaluated by you in terms of speed, handling, etc. It would be fascinating to see the differences, I think. Keep it up.
You guys definitely need to combine the FPV cockpit with a head tracker on the FPV goggles and a 3-axis gimbal for the FPV camera on the plane! This should be even more realistic, especially with the DJI HD FPV system!
Had a good idea. You could build a big tow plan. Set it up to tow 4 or 5 gliders attached together in a row. Each with it's own release system. Release all of them at the same time and try and land all of them. Would love to see it!
Great video! I’m so glad to see TJ he’s who inspired me back in the Gremlin days to build my first quad. I remember one time I reached out to him on Facebook with an issue I was having and he was happy to help, good dude.
Its very pleasing to have a leader like josh in a group I met a team today while they were flying But leader was such a crap He was demotivating his team and laughing on their crash Those are not made for this beautiful hobby
Listen guys! Dont throw anything away 8:20. Raffle or auction those things to your subscribers and donate the proceeds to a worthy cause, like Resurgence PPG (Todd Scandrett). With 2M subs, you'd be surprised how many people would want FT memorabilia.
So good to see TJ on the show again!! Also you should look for a derelict GA aircraft that you can outfit as a permanent FPV cockpit fixture. You could replace the windscreen with a monitor and place it by the field.
Add some weight to the controls for the ultimate experience. I’ve use anything from springs, bands, gas struts, and different resistance hair ties even. Relatively easy to adjust and such a major performance improvement for both the control and fpv stabilization.
That FPV spin was wild! So was the crash. You HAVE to refine the FPV cockpit chair! Cool vid, thanks for taking us along for the flight. Sounds like a new project for the drone, parts retrieval.
You guys need to do a modern how to for FPV with different cost levels and include a 3D gimbal with head tracking. It has been years since you covered FPV goggles and their features and prices... cameras, headgear, antennas... You also have not done much with good starter packages for quads and planes in years also. A lot has likely changed in the industry and while the DJI stuff looks nice it is also rather expensive and lacks upgradability.
Stephen is a cool cat but they talk a lot of 'brother' and 'family' but when one leaves we don't really know they left officially until 6 months and you just assume. The FPV antennas don't look like a catfish, this is the first aircraft with Rearview Mirrors! It most be Mater's (from the Cars movies) favorite aircraft.

Speaking of the Aura. I just bought one and installed it in a Top RC Swift, and it worked perfectly first try without making any adjustments. The Swift is an EDF powered glider capable of 100mph, a real blast.
Hi Guys, I have liked this one same as the first time you brought out the FPV chair. I broke my back in 91 and I have been flying out of my wheelchair since. I still can walk just not able to stand up for more than 5 minutes. I have made a chair way back in the 70s but I used cables to a radio and then to a controller for flying. It didn't work out, but I was really hoping that your did. Thanks again for the video.

They have insane drones in law enforcement. I saw one at the local fair this year. It had thermal cameras and all.
Why?
