That climax towards the end of Let Down is one of the most joyous 30 seconds of music that I’ve ever heard. Probably listened to it a thousand times, and it still sends a shiver up my spine. And the thing is that there are moments on every one of their albums that do that. Give me goosebumps, if you will. Some more than others.

Thom York's voice is an instrument all it's own. In Rainbows is my favorite. Second is the In The Basement of In Rainbows. Once you "get" Radiohead it is like they have been here this entire time and I had no idea???? You have the sense that you wasted so much time not listening to them. They are all so talented. Once you dive deep into RH then you have their solo projects to swim through. Jonny is a master at movie soundtracks. I enjoy watching people fall in love with RH.
That’s the exact feeling I had throughout majority of this video. Their sound is very unique and there were just so many elements that were pleasing to hear. The whole band is truly incredibly talented!
Let Down is their magnum opus - I don’t know how they managed to make a song so depressing and uplifting all at once - when Tom’s voice crescendoes with the guitars at “you know where you you are” your heart rises and the tears fall
The Tourist…yep. One of my favorite songs of all time, and indeed, one of the best closers EVER. I was lucky enough to catch it live back in 2018 and it still feels like a dream. Philadelphia night 2, August 1st. The last Radiohead show to date. Highly recommend you listen to In Rainbows next!
"The Tourist" had a very simple inspiration; Thom Yorke was in Paris and kept noticing tourists hurrying about to see all the sights. He knew almost immediately it had to be the final song on the album to contrast the others.
Radiohead's lead singer is Thom Yorke. He and Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead's guitarist) have also been members in a band called The Smile (which has been described as Radiohead if they were a jazz band). Additionally, Yorke has been in the band Atoms for Peace (A band where he collaborated with Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers), and has released a few solo albums, the most notable of which is Anima.
I'm glad that you appreciated Subterranean Homesick Alien - one of the best in my opinion. They are talented musicians, but they are quite technical too, so know how to get a good depth of sound. I once played this in a band when I was at school - worked hard trying to reproduce their sound!
Great reaction - I can see how you keep closing your eyes to absorb more of the feeling of the songs, thats what I was like first time I heard it 26 years ago
When you said you were overstimulated during the first song, I had a bit of a Disney villain moment. 🤣😂 I was just thinking "Wait for the rest...." Thom is one of the greatest male voices of the generation, and I'm wiling to die on that hill. Also, Subterranean Homesick Alien is probably my favorite song on this album, followed by No Surprises.
In high school (back before mp3s), I had a CD player alarm clock and this album lived in it. I woke up every day to that opening riff from Airbag. Still love it. Thanks for taking us with you on your first listen.
I think your reaction to The Tourist is one of my favourite things I've ever seen in UA-cam. Something about seeing someone crash to their bed and just lay still face down is such a good radiohead reaction moment haha. Someone's gotta clip that and reupload as "listening to radiohead be like:"
every track except maybe Electioneering can all have a great case made for being a peak track on the album. Electioneering not bad its js not quite in line w the rest of the album
so happy you liked the tourist many rank it as one of their lesser memorable outros when imo it literally makes this album. Maybe as an individual track it isnt my favorite that'd go to let down or paranoid android but as a closer for the album its literally perfect in every way and i think their best along with wolf at the door from hail to the thief or street spirit from the bends as closers.
Definitely "In Rainbows" and would love to have you share it, this was a great watch! You're not pulling punches, just being real. It is appreciated and enjoyable. This reminded me of my first time listening to this in college when it came out. It blew my mind, became and still is my favorite album. It's #1 or 2 in so many polls - best of the 90's, best ever?? None of that means much, music is for each individual, only pointing it out as a support of how much it hit with you - it's up there man. Of their 3 'master work' albums I guess one might call them - and all 9 are fire - 'Kid A' came next but is SO DIFFERENT from this one, it needs some time to build up to the super experimental unique sound. "In Rainbows" is the best follow-up to me - has a different sound than 'OK Computer' but it is so so great, warm and soothing and the band is just hitting on all points with maybe their best songwriting out of their whole catalogue...then you get to watch "In Rainbows: Live from the Basement" to see these 5 guys do their thing and make magic live, no tricks, as good as it gets, killer way to connect with the music and the band to experience it that way. Thom (said Tom) Yorke writes the songs, sings, plays rhythm guitar and piano, but every member has ridiculous credentials and multi-tasks to make this layered immense sound-Universe. Aside from Pink Floyd, no other band I know can create those sound landscape journeys that just grab and take you away like Radiohead - truly masters at it. It helps they've had the same incredible Producer since the mid 90's for every album, same artist for album covers even...they are just a unit, met in High School, never quit, had "Creep" launch their career, but they were built to make magic, and that's what they did ever after. They've had 5 of 9 albums in the Rolling Stone Top 500 - only a handful of other artists in our past century of music have matched or beat that. Still, everyone vibes or not with any type of music, but for those who dig Radiohead, they offer some genuine treasure, for real. Some of their songs take a few, many listens, before they sink in and grab you - sometimes it'll be years later I finally HIT with a song (I too wasn't that into "Electioneering" or "Climbing up the Walls" - which get's better and better every time you hear it pretty quickly) but you nailed the analysis anyway as they move the album flow as a whole. And I agree - of all their albums - all of which have epic closing songs - "The Tourist" is my favorite. Thanks a lot, was a fun way to re-listen to my favorite album, appreciate it! Peace//
Hi. I love this album-so spiritual. Paranoid Android is like going to church. Thanks for reacting to the full cd in real time without altering the speed to speed it up for a faster, conensed reaction. Alot of reactors are doing that to save time, but it really diminishes the impact of their reaction. Thanks for being authentic, man.
I loved to see how the feelings hit you with such force while listening to Exit Music (For a Film). I feel the same every time i hear it, since I bought the album on New Year's Eve in 1997 when I was 15. It's so full of pain, but also catharsis. This album has remained one of my all time favorites since. Subscribed, looking forward to sharing more moments such as this with you going forward!
This album must surely be on the list of greatest albums ever. I wore it out on cd and I still love it. Radiohead offerings are so lush and complex that they require multiple listens.
This album's mix was engineered by Nigel Godrich, who went on to do the rest of their albums and is practically a band member. After this he did Beck's album Mutations which you should definitely check out. Not for a video, but just on your own. It's not the kind of album that would get a lot of views, unfortunately. Anyway, it was recorded in only 2 weeks, one day per song, and it sounds absolutely amazing. Just tons of atmosphere, imaginative arrangements, and the songwriting is the best.
Great reaction, definitely listen to "In Rainbows" next, tends to be a hot debate over "Ok Computer" and "In Rainbows" on which of the two is the best Radiohead album. Expect a lot more synths / electronic influence on In Rainbows though. Once you are done with In Rainbows def. give "Kid A" a shot, but it was a huge left turn after Ok Computer in terms of their direction so expect a very different experience.
@@ghoulhunter3d703 maybe not a good intro into radiohead though id say it should definetly be after in rainbows and maybe the bends if he goes through them all
seeing you go through it with Exit Music for a Film was so real. I reccomend you watch the episode of Black Mirror called 'Shut Up and Dance' which uses that song in the most incredible way.
I've been through that lmao that phase when you think there's no music better than this and this shit is all you need? Thank goodness it's over for me, because Radiohead is also the best gateway band to the best of alt rock and indie.
Never will I get old of seeing people experience this band for the first time. However, what is even more powerful than the first listen is the 100th listen. I had this album as my "driving back to school" music for those midnight drives back to university after visiting home. This sound just COOKS on a late night long car ride, especially after you've heard it a million times before. It just gets right inside you and takes you somewhere. It's so important to have the right atmosphere listening to this album. Somewhere you can just escape and let it consume you. So many good songs here, Let down, Exit music, No surprises, Lucky, The tourist, etc... but even still, after thousands of listens and many decades, nothing comes close to Paranoid Android for me, all three parts are so unique and each one takes you somewhere else, and when it's done you are just left speechless.
Within the vast Genre of rock its Tool and these guys for my top 2. With this being my favorite album start to end from any band. Took me a few listens but this one ages like a fine wine. I was 17/18 when this came out. At 44 I still return to this one. ✌️
I was in middle school when this album came out--Karma Police was all over the radio. It wasn't until college that I actually listen to OK Computer for real. And this album unlocked all music for me. Now I'm a father, and you know Let Down was playing when my daughter was born. Thanks for making this. Liked, subscribed, and onto In Rainbows.
those are my top three too! but the whole album is a journey. I was 21 when it came out I I would just lay in bed with OK Computer in my headphones, [redacted] out of my mind, and just float away on the music. Great reaction
This is the album that musically sounds how falling in love felt for me. All of who she was sounded like the warm, quiet beauty that this album displays. She was this for me. I will always remember these songs and the memories of singing along with her. She was my first love and i got very lucky to have been with her for the 6 months we were. A part of my heart will always belong to her.
"Paranoid android" and "Street spirit" (from The Bends) are two songs that always existed for me. Heard them as a very little child, probably 7-8 years old, when they were on MTV.
I cant wait for you to listen to their other albums! In rainbows is amazing and the bends is a top notch listen, id say my fav in rainbows song is body snatchers and my fav in the bends is fake plastic trees, let down is underrated big time literally ascend when I listen to it, awesome vid!
dude i just discovered ur channel since im diving into radiohead too and oh my god thom yorke (the lead singer) is phenomenal with his singing. like im not even joking, that man sings in such a different way. ok computer is one of my favorite albums from them and it was funny/nice to see ur reactions to the songs. ihope you listen to more of their albums! :-]
I actually saw RH live. Thom York's voice in person will make you almost cry. It is better in real time, if you can imagine that. It is like seeing a sunset or seeing a picture of the sunset.
I never tire of watching Let Down work it’s magic on people. It destroys. But your reaction to The Tourist is the absolute best. I think I still feel that way every time I hear it.
Have you listened to much post rock? You seem to like that kinda out of body/ transcendent feel, and thats a big part of the genre. I think it'd be cool to see a reaction to something like the glowing man or the earth is not a cold dead place.
With Paranoid Android you've been introduced to progressive rock, That is if you haven't discovered it already. After this I suggest you listen to Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon, which was a huge influence on this album. I would also be interested in your take on Nine Inch Nails the downward spiral, the whole album, which has a lot of similarities and same influences as ok computer.
The anticipation was like a wave, a buzz across the USA. I was lucky Chicago was near the end of the tour. And Kid A, the Grant Park 2001 Chicago show, was probably the most perfect acoustic audio I ever heard in a live performance.
I'll never forget the first time I listening to this damn, I think for the first time I teared up during a song and it was during exit music for a film. W album and W reaction
loved the reaction, and also loved that you loved The Tourist so much because it is also my favorite from ok computer and i also thought that is thes best ending song for a album. I have to say, thought, that i think that feeling is BECAUSE of the composition of OK Computer and the journey that we take until that moment, at least that how i feel it. Keep up the good work! I've been through that lmao that phase when you think there's no music better than this and this shit is all you need? Thank goodness it's over for me, because Radiohead is also the best gateway band to the best of alt rock and indie.
and it seems to become more relevant/prescient every passing year.
yo sameeee, i discovered it 5 months ago and can't bring myself to listen to other songs because this is just too good
One word describes RADIOHEAD " MASTERPIECE "😊
I fell in love with them with the album The Bends. It was the album right before OKC.
Within the vast Genre of rock its Tool and these guys for my top 2. With this being my favorite album start to end from any band. Took me a few listens but this one ages like a fine wine. I was 17/18 when this came out. At 44 I still return to this one. ✌️
This entire album puts you on another plane!
Hearing "its literally been hit for hit so far" and then the comedic timing of fitter happier is crazy
never thought id hear someone describe thoms singing as "gliding on the beat"
I was in middle school when this album came out--Karma Police was all over the radio. It wasn't until college that I actually listen to OK Computer for real. And this album unlocked all music for me. Now I'm a father, and you know Let Down was playing when my daughter was born. Thanks for making this. Liked, subscribed, and onto In Rainbows.
the other album you have to listen to is "In Rainbows" by Radiohead
The tourist is my favorite on this album, maybe my favorite Radiohead song. Just floors me everytime.
those are my top three too! but the whole album is a journey.
“what effect is that on the guitar?” it’s octave up (whammy), phaser, and loads of reverb.
Bro. So much respect and love. From someone who heard this on the year it was released. Welcome.
Not sure of you’ve been told or anything but Exit music (For a film) was originally created to be the outro music for Romeo and Juliet :)
Let Down is their best song imo b7t it definitely isn't underrated. It's a fan favorite along with weird fishes
Believe me when I say you should listen to A moon shaped pool, it's INCREDIBLE.
dude i just discovered ur channel since im diving into radiohead too and oh my god thom yorke (the lead singer) is phenomenal with his singing. like im not even joking, that man sings in such a different way. ok computer is one of my favorite albums from them and it was funny/nice to see ur reactions to the songs. ihope you listen to more of their albums! :-]
If you went through the entire catalog, you should check out his new band “the smile”.
i have!!! im a fan of their music too, what do you think about them??
I actually saw RH live. Thom York's voice in person will make you almost cry. It is better in real time, if you can imagine that. It is like seeing a sunset or seeing a picture of the sunset.
@@chikenloveswomen love them. my fav track is free in the knowledge
I’m really glad u enjoyed!! There will be more to come for sure, im thinking of doing kid a or in rainbows next
6:46-7:06 this is why people like me watch reaction videos. I wish I could hear that chorus again for the first time
Anytime I see people hearing ok computer first, I get so excited for them to hear kid a. Gotta do that one next friend❤
subterranean homesick alien is so perfect. 🖤
Exit Music was written for the Romeo And Juliet soundtrack upon request from director Baz Luhrman. Eventually a b-side of theirs was used instead.
25:54 best reaction
Ok computer is my favourite album ever, up there with tpab
When the bass sets in in 20:00. So powerful. Best part imho
the song names suddenly appearing in that font and then slowly fading away was so cool. paranoid android and climbing up the walls gave me chills bro
i recommend the oknotok version of this album, man of war is one of my favorite radiohead songs ever
Damn can’t believe I caught this after five days. So cool to see other people click with this shit of course it’s deserved
I remember getting this album for my birthday when it came out back in 1997, still one of the greatest album's ever made
Your reaction to paranoid android is how I feel most of us felt. Such a rollercoaster of a song.
Great reaction. I think from your taste you should hit IN RAINBOWS next.
Kid A too
@@JH-uc6hz "Nude" off the Basement Tapes is so pristine!
You just bought a starter pack of depression
hell yeah
Really like people listening to masterpieces for the first time
I'll never forget the first time I listening to this damn, I think for the first time I teared up during a song and it was during exit music for a film. W album and W reaction
The little spiel about the lullaby right before no surprises' last verse was a legit spoken word addition to the song
Nah this is the best reaction I’ve seen in years. Radiohead doesn’t miss.
Note holding song - LP Levitator (Live). Whole performance is a mastery of the technical / mix team.
Definitely react to In Rainbows next!.........I think it SLIGHTLY edges out Ok Computer but this is a hot debate
10/10 accurate inner process while listening to OKC for the first time 😍😀
the songs i promise, man of war, and lift were originallly going to be on the album but are just as good as the other songs
loved the reaction, and also loved that you loved The Tourist so much because it is also my favorite from ok computer and i also thought that is thes best ending song for a album. I have to say, thought, that i think that feeling is BECAUSE of the composition of OK Computer and the journey that we take until that moment, at least that how i feel it. Keep up the good work!
Edit: Definitely, if not all the albums, do In Rainbows too!
Love love love the tourist. It is so expansive and comforting
happy to see someone geek out on Radiohead like I have
After that reaction to exit music (for a film) idk if bro will be able to handle motion picture sound track 😭😭
Portishead: Dummy is another great one
I listen to a lot of different genres of music. This is the best album ever made...Period.
Best backround by far , love the drive by window haha good work
still gives me goosebumps 🥰
What a beautiful reaction. X
