I actually made x bomber out of lego many many years ago! With the 3 dai x attachments. I wish i still had it lol. I've got the dvd box set with all the episodes. My fondest memories was watching starfleet at my grandparents on a saturday afternoon. I remember the death of doctor Ben and it made me quite sad at the time.
Love this programme star fleet the best Brian may project. Brill not a queen track Die X robot brill this is one of my favourite. Of all time when l was a kid now l am 40. And it still is fantastic
I loved this programme as a child! I was quite young so don't remember much about it but assuming it was shown in the UK in 83 I would've been about 8 years old. Wish I had a time machine!
So did I. I still love it so much that I recently bought an original Dai X model from a Ebay seller in Japan. It was a small fortune and Dai X may have beaten robot tanks, the death ball and the imperial alliance, however, he could not defeat HM customs and revenue. Who charged an extra 20%to import. But, after all that, he stands proudly with his original box and sword (not that I can recall a sword in the series, but never mind) on the living room shelf. The 5 year old in me is quite happy 😊.
Nah, it was just before Terrahawks which was the ultimate in puppet sci-fi, even if Star Fleet/X-Bomber action scenes were superior. Team America was mocking the genre rather than improving it.
This is weird , I very vaguely remember this from my childhood. I'm starting to think phones read our memories for searches, because I would have never looked for this otherwise lol.
Twistedhippy Yeah, it may look silly now, but it's lost none of its charm. I need to get into that whole story arc though - that's what really made it great. Just like MCoG - rewatched that in about four nights about two years back - epic.
Two relatively unknown manga were also created in 1980. One was drawn by Naoki Kamohara and published in the magazine Monthly Shōnen Jump by Shueisha from June 1980 to August 1980 and the other was drawn by Makoto Ono in the magazine TV-kun by Shogakukan from November 1980 to April 1981.
I know if i was in ready player one I would have had Dai-x as my ride. To think this came from go nagai the same guy who made devilman. I watch this today and I'm still in awe of how good It looked for the 80s.
Dai x is an awesome mech but I must admit that I've always found mechas that are made of separate vehicles awkward because now would they work in conjuction? Unless the pilots are psychic bonded.
The series may not have catered to gentlemen who prefer blondes; but the 2 beautiful brunettes, and the 2 ravishing redheads (Keeli & Makara) must have kept all the other guys happy.
They probably took better care of their masters than either the UK (who had like 3rd generation copies anyhow) or Japan (who don't give a fuck about the series).
@Sinjin4000 the problem in nowadays is not being made in computer, but being made without a single thread of decent history between episodes, for example, look at every single power rangers episode story: "this is the good guys that's the bad guy, good guys face bad guy, they get beat in a first stage then win! the end" they are all the same except with some VERY THIN stuff that allows viewers to know if the episode they are seeing is before or after another episode... very sad...
Brilliant show didn't get the attention it deserved in my veiw shown in 1983 on Saturday morning far as i know they never reran it again Brian may got hooked on it i think he was watching it with is children not sure any how he redid the music star fleet brian may and friends didn't do very well in the charts has become collectable on 45 due to the series and queen Connection its not the same as the series theme that was done by someone else i was disappointed when i pick up the Brian may one i preferred the tv original version so i tryed to get that one but couldn't find anything if you listen to the end theme its a different singer and it's loads better than Brian mays version in my veiw see what you think 😀👍😇
"Dai X, you sheepshagging Welshman, I've been waiting for you!" says Destro from 'GI Joe' with a silly monocle! Look out though, King Obi-Wan has become a total wuss and won't fight back - even to save his daughter, Labia!
We must leave, it's dangerous...... ..... to remain here. Why the big pause during sentences? I'm guessing it's dubbed over from Japanese and they have to make shit up to sync with their lips.
It's partly that, but mostly because the original Japanese version had some long-ass lines of dialogue, apparently to allow the voice actors to compensate for the puppets' lack of emotion. In most cases, the literal English translation would only have half as many syllables, so they have to stretch it out or add things.
How appropriate these scenes are for the American regimes and their invasion of other countries. The music is incredible, so powerfully appropriate and the imperial alliance (the west) suffer defeat in the end - all too beautiful
Caliban was one nasty dude.A new Villain to the . Imperial Alliance, he designed a robot that killed Dr Benn ,X Bomber want there Revenge and.Cailban's Death Ball tried to Destroy,X Bomber and it never worked and, X Bomber found a way to.To get rid of the.Death Ball by using the X Trazers and it finally did the.Job Star Fleet always brings back memories. From the earlie 80's,😃
Freakin' brilliant music in this series and that deep rumble Dai-X lets out somehow independent of the three pilots is brilliant.

Simon John Hinton Me too. Took me ages.
You could always support my LEGO project on Ideas! Dai-X needs some love! ideas.lego.com/projects/66112051-9887-46fe-b357-01793ae96554
Simon John Hinton the death of Dr Benn introduced me to death. Never had something hit me that hard. A wonderful series.
So did I.so did I .😊
Me too...lol
Good old Saturday mornings in 1983!Calliban gives me the creeps, but Commander Makara = awesome.
Hahahahaha! Retreat! What excuse could the apparently-post-menopausal Zelda have for HER behaviour? The pain of arthritis, perhaps?
And from this fight we get the expression "You come at Dai-X, you better not miss."
I remember watching this on Saturday morning it was the business lord it was great being a kid back then
80s were best decade for kids tv
Love this programme star fleet the best Brian may project. Brill not a queen track Die X robot brill this is one of my favourite. Of all time when l was a kid now l am 40. And it still is fantastic

dai x was a bloody bad ass..the music was awesome.
FACTS!! Typically, whenever Die-X was formed, we all knew that it was time for some MAJOR @$$-kicking to take place 💪👊!!!😁
40 plus years later and Dai X is still a badass cool robot
Bloody brilliant to watch this again.
That's how you can tell the Japanese made it. The giant combining robot. The Tracy's never had one.
Yep, it’s from the same mind as Mazinger as well
Dai X had his full revenge when smashing through every deck of the imperial cruiser and rather brutally squishing Commander Macara with his foot.
The best kids/adult program ever, way ahead of its time
Nah, it was just before Terrahawks which was the ultimate in puppet sci-fi, even if Star Fleet/X-Bomber action scenes were superior. Team America was mocking the genre rather than improving it.
That's the best goddamn thing I've seen since I was seven. Thank you
This is weird , I very vaguely remember this from my childhood. I'm starting to think phones read our memories for searches, because I would have never looked for this otherwise lol.
They probably shouldve opened with the X tracers first lol
With a bit of 'defence field up' too, to really take the piss lol
Glad to see it back for public pleasure
Even Captain Harlock didn't take the term "space ship" so literally.
Should have lead with that X Tracer weapon 🤦♂️
wonder why they didn't just fire " x tracers" at the beginning?
Ah well, love it anyways
+Twistedhippy Probably should've used that shield a bit sooner too...
+Andrew Givens
Hahaha, I know right?
I still get that same excited feeling watching this as I did as an 8 yo kid :)
Twistedhippy Yeah, it may look silly now, but it's lost none of its charm. I need to get into that whole story arc though - that's what really made it great. Just like MCoG - rewatched that in about four nights about two years back - epic.
+Twistedhippy I said that when I first saw it as a teenager in the 80's.
@@bukster1 same lol
Cuando era chico la vi en castellano alguien sabe donde se le puede buscar
Sgt Al Matthews as Caliban, oh God the nostalgia...
Indeed, nostalgia overload…loved Star Fleet, with quite a few voice appearances from Aliens 😉
Love the complete lack of scale. How big was the X Bomber if Di X was merely 3 tiny components?
RIP Caliban. You were a great bad guy.
Calliban rocking that Silver Surfer look.
He looks more like Destro from G.I. Joe.
Destro definitely

Nostalgia TV!!! Remember watching this on a Sunday when I was a kid. Classic! Commande Mc Kara..remember her.
Dai x is an awesome mech but I must admit that I've always found mechas that are made of separate vehicles awkward because now would they work in conjuction? Unless the pilots are psychic bonded.
Think motrobike and sidecar 😁
Holy crap,I never knew this existed till now
adored this show as a kid - except the el cheapo recap episodes that left me feeling cheated after waiting a whole week for a show,
11:00 DAI-X should've used its shield at d beginning. :))
i thought that was the best fight ever. 36 years later i realise how bad it was
What did you expect?
Kung Fu sci fi style?
Hope Hollywood would remake this in 3d or something.
Did X Bomber have a shield?
How did they make it so you can't see the wires on the ships?
They used rods.
Talent, and clever use of lighting sources during filming.
The Dai X looks like and probably is a guy wearing a soft foam suit. But the acting is pretty convincing.
I thought so...Gerry Anderson! I never heard of Space Fleet though. They must not have shown it in the US, or I was too high too remember!
The series may not have catered to gentlemen who prefer blondes; but the 2 beautiful brunettes, and the 2 ravishing redheads (Keeli & Makara) must have kept all the other guys happy.
Why did France get the exclusive remastered version? This look almost HD.
They probably took better care of their masters than either the UK (who had like 3rd generation copies anyhow) or Japan (who don't give a fuck about the series).
Japan don't care about this classic series ?!?? eh
Will they ever release Star Fleet (a.k.a. X-Bomber) in the United States on DVD someday?
Discotek Media just announced they will be releasing the series here in the states!
Natendowii
Sweet!
Can we have a reboot, imagine StarFleet with today’s CGI.
With Brian May as the new Shiro.
Closest they did was having X-Bomber in Kotetsushin Jeeg.

For some reason, I thought the King & Queen were Lamia's parents, when I first watched it; well, she is a princess.
My mom called me shiro after I blew up one of macaras battleships in my younger days
I loved this show. It was so much better than Terrahawks and made by the man behind Gundam
Could have done that in the first place
It always seemed the X-bomber crew got their a$$e$ kicked until they needed to not get them kicked. Just use your bog weapons first you numpties!

Retreat!! Retreat
"Remastered" in 480p LMAO
"We tweaked the sound ever so slightly and tweaked the contrast on the shoddy pyrotechnics!"
@@marcjones4351 So why not upscale it to somewhere beyond dial-up quality?
Thumbs up if you adore Lamia (ok, she is just a doll, yet she is adorable!)!
G.I Joe/Hasbro clearly ripped off Destro from Calliban, right?
No shame in that, mind. Both great characters.
This guy with the silver head looks like destro from G.I. Joe
Pacific rim?
"Dai X, you sheepshagging Welshman, I've been waiting for you!" says Destro from 'GI Joe' with a silly monocle! Look out though, King Obi-Wan has become a total wuss and won't fight back - even to save his daughter, Labia!

This is giving me Team American vibes for some reason I think it’s just the puppets that’s why
da fuck did I just come across?
TV puppet awesomeness from the 80's, that's what. Far removed from the infantile crap kids have to cope with nowadays.
Thats weird
