1. Stage 1 or stage 2 tune
2. Upgraded Downpipe (stage 2 tune)
3. Dorch stage 2 high pressure fuel pump
4. Transmission tune
5. Turbo ( he says personally big boost)
why the trans tune tho. If you are sitting at 420-500 wheel what benefits does the trans tune really do for you besides make your downshifts better? just curious
@@skouria3135 it can help you rev out longer/ shorter depending on your tune which can make a huge difference for racing
@@suavetrey1796 if you mean pushing back your rpm’s on a ots stock turbo tune that wouldn’t make a difference since the power band isn’t at the limiter.
@@skouria3135if it makes your shifts
Faster what else does it need to do? But it can also changes the logic behind the shifting to make it more performance oriented.
and.. Spark plugs! Don't forget the spark plugs
coming from the muscle car community all this is so new to me. so much research needs to be done that it makes it exciting with how many paths you can take to get power
It’s a very flexible platform for sure!
Almost ALL newer turbo engines have HUGE potential on the table. You just need to upgrade the turbo, fueling, & fragile parts, and get a tune. You don't even touch the engine itself.
But with that, you also need to replace fragile driveline parts, and ALWAYS upgrade to an lsd if you want to really enjoy the car.

Great video! As the last payment on my M240i will be this Tuesday, thoughs of an upgrade are burbling around in my head, since it'll actually be my car. But I really don't know much about upgrading. You're video was very informative and gave me a better understanding moving forward; a good starting place. Thank you
big thanks for the video, this is exactly what I was looking for. only 30k more miles left on warranty and I'll join you in the fun
Great video. =)

Amazing and very informative video. Hope you have a good time with this darling of yours.
Hey i drive an f90 m5 just watched the video cuz im bored and got to say you are a great guy for people to listen to very knowledgeable gave very real and honest tips.If you drive a b58 listen to this guy.Never get a jb4 lol
Great video mate. Waiting for some more power on that motor
So amazing for what you did brother. Thank you so much for making this video for us. God bless 💯🔥
Great info as always
Im currently considering path for my 2019 g31 540i xdrive with 35k miles as my daily
I have watched many videos so far but this one hits different, u got urself a new subscriber sir
Excellent video, interesting and informative 🇯🇲
Very in-depth video. It honestly does help me make my decision coming from the Japanese tuner world (Subaru). I am stepping into the Euro world soon and I am curious if an AOS or a catch can would be perfect since it help bypass and redirect the pcv line?
Catch can will not change anything unless you close off the intake port and leave the crankcase ventilator VTA.
yao, whats better on 93 pump only with pure 800 the b58 or gen 2 b58, and how much power expect out of both ?
Hey LJ, I took your advice and did the BM3 Stage 2 (91 octane), Dorch HPFP, VRSF downpipe, BMS filter on my 2019 440i GC. The Tune made a big difference! I replaced the stock run flats with Micheline PS 4s...huge improvement! Great video!
Yo what where your gains? I got a 2017 GC and just got vsrf high flow cat downpipe and BM3 stage 2 turne. Waiting for downpipe to flash tune.
@@mitchellgarcia2921 My tuner said the HP gains on the 91 octane tune are about 80-85 hp. So, from stock 325 to about 40-410hp. It's quite noticeable. If you go with E85 tune, then your in the 525-545hp ballpark. I may or may not do that. I'll tell you though, the Michelin PS4s made a HUGE difference! I highly recommend these tires. I went with KW VS2 coil overs...very comfortable and confidence-inspiring. Good luck with your build!
@@RealEstateChris56 how many miles are on your 440i?
@@harlangarza3209 29k
About the most I have seen on my builds in 93/91 oct is 410WHP on ethanol it’s closer to 500whp… anything above that you’re asking for issues!
To the point video! Well done
I think I would consider adding a larger heat exchanger and *maybe* an upgraded intake manifold (ie csf) just to keep things nice and chill and help keep those IATs consistent. Good peace of mind additions if you live in a hot climate especially when you’re pushing past stage 2+.
I mention an upgraded mani in the later stages. Also the heat exchanger doesn’t do much for a daily driver, it’s a better mod for those who do actual circuit track racing.
Just got my M340i last saturday! been loving every minute of it and and can't stop smiling everytime i drive it. I came from a 2011 BMW 328i lol. I'll definitely follow this for when i start modding my car to increase power.
DOPE DUDE WHATS A GOOD DAILY
Congrats. I got my m440i in October, love it.

Yo i cant decide between the m4 and the 440i u wanna tell me why u choose the 340i over an m3?:)
I Also came from a 2010 328i, looking forward for this change x)
Appreciate this video 🔥 got my M240 less than a month ago and I’ve only done a MST intake for sound more than anything. I have my VRSF ready to be installed next week and then a tune and I’ll be good for a while 🙏🏼
Can we talk because I got my m240 1 month ago too and I was thinking about MST intake or AFE Stage 2 intake but I think all intakes are similar when it comes to power and torque gains (companies advertise more than what the truth is) do you like how the MST sounds? For downpipe I was thinking VSRF catless or Active autowerke catted downpipe. Then BM3 tune
@@AmazingAsif hey congrats my fellow gym bro! 🤣 nah but get the MST intake, it sounds so damn good when you hit boost and it’s a bit loud which I love. Kind of sounds like a sleeper in a way since I haven’t installed my catless downpipe yet. Yeah I don’t think intakes do much for power so probably the same. I’d say catless for more power honestly. Be careful with catless though like for me since it’s honestly too much for me I’m getting it done by a shop to install it but not a lot of places will want to install it since it’s “illegal” now lmao total be but keep that in mind unless you do the install yourself!

Went from a golf r to a Supra, you’re gonna love this engine. The noise is so good
Thanks for shearing. You always tell it like it is on these cars. Do you know of a motor mount upgrade for these cars?
No motor mount upgrades as of yet.
Great video. Thank you. Please tell me what I can do to my 2018 stock 340i without voiding the warranty. I have about six months remaining on the original warranty, then one additional year on the Certified Preowned Warranty.
Don’t do anything to it.
thanks for this video bro. Could you make a specifi video of blow off valves for this car?
No need for blow off valve at the moment
Great video. While the stock intake is sufficient, I can only recommend upgrading with closed cai. Not for the sound, but the throttle response is much faster.
The thing is, the stock one is as good or better as any aftermarket intake. The only time I actually do recommend upgrading is when done at the time of a big turbo swap. A CAI is better at that point.
Just wondering something here. My 340i is fully stock. If I was to change my intake for a closed cai, since i’m letting more air in, do I need to let more out? (aka via a high flow/catless dp) or is this not necessary?
@@charlesd7301 not necessary, you can do intake only if you want. 👍🏾
@@charlesd7301 You're not letting more air in,. the stock airbox and filter flow more than enough air for a stock turbo on Stage 2 and meth. My car did over 100 dyno pulls with various intake configurations. The only benefit over stock is if you want noise. Most aftermarket filters (especially open air) lost power.
I love the B58. I got a gen 1 340i and a 2018 m240i! So easy to make power💪💪💪
Does the m240i have the same engine Gen 1 or 2
Whats the pros and cons of dorch stg2 vs port injection? I dont wanna buy a Tu pump and then buy PI, if i could just do dorch
Great video, good value for money these things, hopefully get this soon and will be probably going stage 2 tune and the tranny tune, very informative video!
Appreciate that!
Do the new 2022/2023 B58’s have to have expensive ECU unlocks or will the less expensive ones you mention still work? I used to have a MK7 Golf R with JB4 and it was a great plug and go “safe” option.
Great content!
Great video!! I have a 2022 X3MC , what would you recommend for upgrades without voiding my warranty! The car stock is 503 HP. What would you do or recommend? Thanks
If you don’t want to void your warranty don’t modify it
Nice Video thank you 🙏
Hello! Nice and informative video! I have a question, I have a 1st gen b58 bmw 540i xdrive, stage 2, I want to upgrade hpfp only for 20-30hp gain and +10% fuel economy, are those numbers realistic?
No
I would definitely recommend changing the chargepipe stock one has a small flow compared to after market one your better off with a bigger flow with less restrictions aluminum one will last over time depending on the climate because hot and cold over time will break eventually break on the plastics ones
There is minimal impact wen changing chargepipe on B58. The biggest benefit is material quality and addition of bungs for peripherals. These CP's are a lot better quality than the old N5x or S55 CP's
Does changing charge pipe void warranty?
Chargepipe on the B58 is actually a almost perfected charge pipe from the N54... N54 it was very problematic so they got it right this time.
How about 545e, which has electric motor + B58 (290HP version)? I'm wondering if the B58 there is just soft limited to 290HP, which would mean that we you could get crazy gains with soft changes or if there were some hardware changes as well.
I’m not sure anyone has experimented with it
Great video dude!
Mine is a 2016 340i, have you had to upgrade your charge pipe? I remember mine shatter on me at 66000 miles 😂. And everything was still stock
I did out of necessity because I went with a full frame big turbo, however otherwise they can hold a pretty good amount of boost before shattering. This plastic seems to be better than N5x plastic
Can I ask you something please? What tuning potential has the bmw m435i f32? Thanks in advance
My Man! Great Video broski!👍😎
do you recommend using meth as a secondary fueling source on 91 octane? i've heard it can cause knock but i'm not able to access e85
I am looking at purchasing a 540i soon and I am wondering how noisy the car would get with the Downpipe mod? I would like to have a super quiet car when doing 70-80 mph on the motorway without any droning etc. Would the downpipe make the car noisy even when cruising at these speeds?
Thanks in advance...
Another great video...do I smell an m340i on the channel soon? Haha
Haha we shall see!
Awesome 👏🏻 thanks…
I went for stage 2 on my M240i with VRSF catless DP, ITG panel filter, silicone intake pipe and the BMW Hot Climate kit. The car now makes 463 BHP and 670NM. It's very fast, but could really use an LSD and some stiffer suspension.
M240i has lsd no?
@@ali-jq2xg No, unfortunately not. Cost 2000 for the LSD
Nice video. On my 440i I went MPPSK - AP intake - 200 cell wagner downpipe - xhp - BM3 stage 2 coming up soon. After that, I think I'm done
do a 4.5 vrsf catless dp thank me later
Vrsf catless dp is the best i have one in my 440i
how much hp you creating?
I got 2020 m340ixd just order cts turbo intake down pipe charge pipe and inlet thinking about bm3 tune
I noticed you didn’t mention the Dinah flash tune? Any experience with that product? It’s obviously a trusted BMW brand.
DINAN changed owners, BMW no longer supports them as a trusted tuner that I know of but Steve Dinan created Carbahn which is also an alternative.
I went 1) MST intake stage 1 MG Flasher tune and xHP stage 3 TCU tune then 2) VRSF catted downpipe MG stage 2 tune then 3) TU Supra hpfp MG Stage 2+ 93/98 tune 4) MG stage 2+ e30 tune 5)Pure turbo custom tune 6) Dorch stage 2 hpfp custom tune.
That’s not a bad path at all. Like I said it’s just the way I would’ve done things but people have their own way of doing things
Who do you contact for the stage 2 HPFP custom tune
I get tuned by Marin Nelson
why would you go from xhp 3 to 2
what about remapping ZF8HP gearbox? i see many people remap it for Stage 2 because Slip is bad = Shorter lifespan. But higher pressure could wear out pump earlier. Higher oil temp, etc...
XHP is the trans remap and I mentioned it I believe
Just got a m240ix. Does the bms intake actually add power? I also think it doesn’t sound that good
They claim it does but I don’t think it does lol. IAT’s suffer tho.
Was running stg2 hpfp dorch + stock turbo on my M240i, almost 500whp on 95oct

What times were you running before/after turno upgrade.
I’m currently 500whp+ on my M240i stick turbo 😉
@@NoClutchGarage what custom tune did you go with to get 500whp? I just ordered the Dorch stage hpfp. got the Wagner hi flow cat, mst, intake BM3 stage 2 and xhp stage 3. What you recommend next ?
@@AmazingAsif how’s it holding up?
@@bova57 it’s fast. Follow PocketRocket240
man at this point with the doc race top mount kit, it seems way better just going top mount. chargepipe, catless dp, air intake, pure800/cts all make it end up costing around the same amount in the end
I’m new to this. I got a 2020 m240ix still under warranty. It doesn’t have the mperformance exhaust. I did install a dinan mid pipe. What stage 1 should I get that’s safe? If I get a down pipe I take it that would be stage 2. Now again i apologize for being a noob. Doing a tune does that involve the car being dynoed ? Or is the dyno just to see your gains and not necessarily a performance benefit ?
OTS maps should be relatively safe but honestly any time you modify your car you are putting it at risk.
I got a 2019 440i coupe i want to tune it up a bit should i just do the basic 3 mods u said in the beginning what do u recommend
Downpipe,tune, HPFP
Personally Stage 1 Bootmod3 (93 Octane) and colder plugs.. That's all I did and called it a day.. Not much else you have to do to this car unless you want serious HP.
Same mate, stage 1 map on regular pump fuel 400bhp at the crank is enough for most people. I also changed run flats for Michelin ps4s tyres and the ride has improved aswell as traction in all conditions
@@johnjackson2349 what car do you have?
@@videogazer801 it's a 340i 2016, same as the b58 in this video but in a 3 series in a lower state of tune from factory
Colder plugs ??
Do these have the fuel pump/injector and water pump issues of the n54? Isn’t the wp mechanical again? I wrecked my n54 e60 and went to an old Honda because of how unreliable the n54 was but with car prices coming down soon and my new job I’m looking to get back into something fun again. B58 is still currently out of my range so I’ll probably wait till we get a pay adjustment and first year raise with my airline but I’ll be buying a bmw again.
This is completely different motor and philosophy. Not those issues at all.
How much power could I make on 92 pump
Question bro is it necessary to change the gap on the spark plugs for stage 2+? A lot of guys on the forums were doing it
Not completely necessary but recommended. Stock gap is fine.
@@NoClutchGarage thanks man

i like the zip tie mod.. holding the intake.. howmuch HP did that gain you?
Not my car but +5HP
You willing to say what power you made on your kill map?
I have an m340i and was wondering I should worry about transmission when pushing around 700-750 hp
Yes because it is the same transmission!
Thanks for the reply! What do u suggest I do? An XHP flash? The pure drivetrain solutions are quite expensive atm
Interesting video, but completely unreal in germany :D
In germany you go for the ultra expensive TÜV-way or the half-legal "it looks stock but is modified way and still handles emissions" or you go the full yolo way and get the car taken away by officer Mertens
Germany sounds shitty for car enthusiasts 😆
@@NoClutchGarage it is, super safe cars on the roads tho :D

No
Is going the upgraded turbo route making my car unreliable? Or you think i could daily it for a while?
You can definitely daily it at an adequate power level
At what point would you need to upgrade to a air to air intercooler on the gen1 B58?
Never.
My 2019 440 doesn’t have an LSD stock? Lame!!
Hey man watched multiple videos about the B58, yours seem to stick out the most. My new one will be here next week and I’m looking to make some changes. Wondering if you have a way to communicate? Social media or email? Thank you! Love the material
Yes I believe I tag my Instagram on all my videos!
Hey man I am thinking about buying a used 2020 m340i xdrive but I just fear of the reliability long term. I know people say the b58 is really reliable but have you had any problems? I would want to keep the car for awhile. Has yours been expensive to maintain?
Mine has been expensive because I have always been pushing it, generally they’re not expensive to maintain
@@NoClutchGarage so if I push it in a sense it wont be that reliable ?
@@NoClutchGarage is your expensive because you mod it ? Or it’s just breaking down
Mods. Otherwise no unexpected failures.
Does the tu pump make any difference on the same tune? Lets say im stage 1 93oct with gen1 pump, upgrading to tu pump gives any gain?
Very very slightly
How much power do you think can be reached with catless DP ,MHD stage 2 with the TU hpfp on e40 ?
Around 470 hp 550 tq
Every motor is different
You have mod recommendations for a b58 F32 stage 3 time ????? 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 great video btw
What do you mean by stage 3? Stages are just arbitrary names for a set of mods. I would be able to better guide you if you told me your goals and current mods
@@NoClutchGarage my F32 / B58 car is AWD and I have an eagle eye “stage 1” tune , catless down pipe , BMS air intake. With a M performance exhaust. Which roughly gave me 80-95 WHP / wheel torque. Id like to get a bit more on the HP , torque , performance.
Any cons to running the stock 0W-20 with catless dp and stage 2 OTS tune?
You generally don’t want an oil that is thin when pushing the performance of your car because of lubrication issues.
Can you do a review on the Mg Map or at least give your commentes here ? How do you find the Maps ? Safe ? Knocks? Timing? Compared to bm3 & mhd? Love you
Those videos are literally about a week out
@@NoClutchGarage Can you review MG flasher and how it has treated you thus far, great vid idea.
Those videos are already recorded just have to edit them and upload them 😁
Can I get to the same power, like your last car, if it’s not xdrive ?
Of course!
Would Xdrive fail or get damaged from any of these tunes? What hp should the car stay under to keep the xdrive system healthy?
No, all my cars have been xDrive
Under 650
Transfer cases are known to be destroyed by these tunes on the 4 cylinders, the tunes will wear them out faster as the plastic worm gear spins quicker and the 4 cylinder vibrations wear them down.
do you recommend this mod setup for the new 2023 m340i xdrive?
This is aimed at the gen 1 B58, the Gen 2 or B58TU has a similar but different mod path. About the biggest difference is in HPFP upgrades. B58TU doesn’t have an upgrade option (Spool has one in the works), when they do coke out then yes I would adhere to this guide, otherwise just add PI if you need more fueling.
What about jb4 with MHD back end flash into meth injection, then LSD then big turbo.
I ran the back-end flash for a while and while it is a good option I would not recommend it considering how much better flash tunes have gotten. BEF is a concept used a lot by N54 guys because flash tuning was so limited in N54. This video was aimed more towards power at the motor rather than complete platform upgrades but I did mention an LSD and trans upgrade at some points.
Which one of the flashers for the 1st gen b58 have flex fuel support?
None. But all of them are working towards it.
MHD and Bm3 do now
Do the various gen b58s have the same internals?
Yes
Do i need to upgrade the high pressure fuel pump if i’m not upgrading the turbo?
No, I wouldn’t.
Do I need an upgraded hpfp to run an E30 blend with MHD?
No. You can do it on stock pump!
no i run e30 on mine on a stock pump but i dont daily it like that its just bad gas mileage tbh youll notice the most gains from a hpfp
Don’t do this make sure u get any upgraded pump e30 is ok for tu pump
My first upgrade was a jb4 then I got a mst intake my next will be downpipe
Got the intake and VRSF Catless dp, im just really stuck between which tuning platform to get..
What are your goals?
@@NoClutchGarage wanting around 450 Wheel but also something that’s plentiful in options as per switching maps , ots maps , and just the ease of using in general. Like the whole package in one. Mostly was thinking BM3 and MHD or one you mentioned in the video
BM3 is the most complicated of all mentioned. I think MG is one of the simpler ones and it has plenty of cool on-the-fly features!
@@NoClutchGarage oh okay im gonna check it out. Ive never even heard of it. Ig bm3 and mhd get the most attention

Is a 6sp a must with b58 cars or can the auto deal with quite a bit of power ?
6sp is the worst thing you could do on a B58 BMW
@@NoClutchGarage I'm listening. Can u explain a little. I'm getting ready to buy a 2018 340i auto.
It’s hard to find an aftermarket clutch that can hold good torque. Autos are very quick and hold good torque
m8 it got me curious, why did you change from mhd to mg flasher??
I’ll explain later
@@NoClutchGarage pleasee, because im currently using mhd stage2, and its getting kind of boring, their updates takes to long, it doesnt have antilag, among other things. and im considering going with bm3 or mg but idk. ps: mg has a flame map option. i know its ricer but i think its cool, hahaha.
How reliable are these b58s considering getting one ?
Very
My car is equipped with catless dp and intake along with JB4, if I get flash tune instead of JB4 would it give my car more horsepower? If so what flash tune is the best for me for the power?
bm3
Wait....JB-4 doesn't void warranty? Or is it dealer dependent?
There is a gray area there.. If you bring you car in for some serious engine issues and JB4 is attached than they can void your warranty. But it would be only warranty related to the engine. IF you are running a JB-4 than take it out before going to the dealer. These days Bootmod3 flash is the way to go anyway.
Flash tune yes, I personally don’t like BM3
@@NoClutchGarage Why? I think for Stage 1 it's fine.
2017 440i gran coupe mppsk with vrsf catless dp and a stage 2 ACN bm3 tune! Haven’t dynod but it’s decently fast. I daily it so it’s got 65k+ mileage so far. 💀
65k+ miles and will continue reliably with good maintenance. Keep it up! Bae58 stage 2 owner here
Any issues?
@@burkewarren6233 nope no issues at all!
@@negahplz1156 how long have you owned it with/without the tune.
@@KSIxKRYPTED w/o tune about 5 months. With tune about 1.5 years
So the flash tune works on the locked ecu?
On any ECU produced before 6/21… others require a bench unlock
I hope people know that before you add a “Tune” you should probably get a few mods first. Yeah a tune can get you a bump but without true upgrades like a Down Pipe, paired with replacing the plastic intakes and charge pipes. That’s were the tune is going to be worth it.
Never heard of anyone promoting the factory pipes before. 🧐
I don’t promote the factory pipe, I said a tune on the car is fine before any hardware… because it is fine.
Would you recommend this path for b48 users
I do not think B48 is as developed as B58 but in any case the engines are very similar as they are part of the B modular family of engines so I would guess yes the same process could apply.
I blew my pcv 2 days ago 😂 I knew I should of got a vaydor solution cap but I was trying be cheap
That cap on its own is useless
Novice question you said upgrade LSD? Can you explain 😅
Limited Slip Differnetial… basically will help keep your wheels locked on launch to put all the power to the ground more efficiently
Got a question, can you go to stage 2 on catted down pipe , or does it require a catless dp only ?
Catted is fine as long as it is high flow
Can I do this for the 2018 330i
B48 has a different upgrade path
how u feel about the b58 vs s55
They’re both great, one is cheaper to build 😉
Do this for the new g82 series plz! S58
Will do once I get some seat time on an S58!
Why not go port injection before high pressure fuel pump?
You can do that… I didn’t though
Would I be able to run e85 cause I don’t really want to mix fuels every time
Yes. The reason why I recommend upgraded pump first is because you can control the pump via DME instead of having to buy a PI kit and a controller. It’s a safer path to take and you can get to secondary fueling later when you actually really need it.
Would u go meth route again esp after it caused the fire?
Hot air intake ?
you crush the CTS cone?
It’s not crushed, that happens to some cones over time if they’re dirty.
