Blackmore's guitar acrobatics are outstanding, what a great tone he gets from that Strat!
And the amazing thing about it…it was performed in front of a studio audience that was told to remain seated during the performance because it was being recorded for broadcast.. that’s the way they would play even if the room was empty.

This live version is so exciting, but the studio version is a much better listen first time. It starts off with a very slow classical style organ piece, then builds up into the main intense song. Incredible.

Feel the blast of 70
The most cool thing with those early 70s gigs and performances - it was often more a huge jam-session than an organized setlist. You never knew what will happen, all depended on the musicians mood and the only "control" was the interaction between them - a sign with the head or hand ("up to you know"/"let's go back" etc.) ♥
After hearing vocalist Ian Gillan let it rip on Deep Purple Mk II's "In Rock," Andrew Lloyd Webber knew he had found his Jesus for the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" that he and librettist Tim Rice were in the midst of recording. Ian was able to channel something of the Divine Essence into his portrayal of Jesus. His moments of doubt, pain and temptation in the Garden of "Gethsemane" ua-cam.com/video/ivxIvIyKMzw/v-deo.html have never been more palpably interpreted. Ian gave us an earthy, vulnerable Christ in whose Passion I could both relate and BELIEVE.
The song, "Burn" is a great song by this group.

I had all of Deep Purple's albums. I'm going to suggest a modern band with roots in classic rock like this - *The Warning.* David Draiman of Disturbed tweeted that they gave him hope for the future of rock music. 'Evolve', 'Disciple', and 'Z' are from their 3rd album.
Yess! The Warning is amazing! They are so good at songwriting! I highly recommend them to anyone who likes classic rock.
Hi Rebeka, as you supossed this is only the second half of the song. The first half was not recorded, and we never will know why.
This is from the Granada TV show in 1970.
Maybe you can listen to the studio version, that is not soooo fast as in this live performance.
You must recall when listen to Deep Purple, my favourite rock band, that they sound better live than in the studio, but maybe in this case I can say the studio version is as good as the live performance.
As you said, this is not your kind of music, but you can notice that this five musicians are not the common rock performers, they are very talented and gifted artists, everyone is an extraordinary master of his instrument. Jon Lord (R.I.P.) on the keyboards (organ or piano as you called it) is a classical lover who composed a symphonic masterpiece in three movements that was played by the band and the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA back in 1969, also you can check it on the web. He continued composing orchestral work until he pass away in 2012.
Ritchie Blackmore is a guitar monster who created an amazing band called Rainbow.
Ian Paice on the drums, is a precise and perfect timing performer at any speed he is requested.
Roger Glover on the bass, is a wonderful composer, songwriter and keeper of the rhythm section, and he always made it as easily as you can see.
Finally Ian Gillan on vocals was known as 'silver throated' in the 70s and he is still touring with Deep Purple nowadays more than 50 years after this records were made, although since the mid 90s his voice cannot get the classical high notes, he still has a tenor voice plenty of energy and sing most of the classical songs from the 70s.
They had a great guitar player, but a better organ player, and a better drum player, and a better singer, but the best is the bass player, who is only compared to the guitar player, this made Deep Purple on stage a very ferocious, but friendly competition to show who was the best, that's why they sounded like that, everyone wanted to be the best, so here is a band with five stellar performers, five of the greatest rock musicians together.
That is DEEP PURPLE.

😆It's only the second half of the song. The studio version of this song is 5:52, the live versions... I looked at my bootlegs: 6:25; 7:45; 11:04 and 12:28. And in the live versions there is an exciting, very sexy quiet part next to the crazy fast passages.

The video started halfway through the song ... that's why it was short. Deep Purple is my favourite band, and they're at their best in a live setting. But the studio version is definitely the best. I recommend you listen to it.

Like the live version of Child in Time , this performance is from the Granada TV show from 1970. There are 3 or 4 other songs from the show .

Hi Rebeka! Finally, the heavy artillery of hard rock!It's a pity that this is not the full version, but zachot. At least the album full version: where the full cacophony of rock guitar, organ synthesizer begins, which blows up the brain from the first seconds! That's how I first heard the legendary In Rock. It was a dump of the head!

This song is fast and typically of many rock bands they would use a song such as this, or Highway Star, to open up a gig and get the crowd going.

It's short because this is not the whole song. The song is over 5 minutes long. For whatever reason, they edited this clip cutting off the intro and first portion of the song.

on the actual album i thought it was longer but i dont have any of the old skool vinyl anymore as it disappeared along with most of everything else i owned when i got burgled when i was away from home.i like quite a few diff genres when it comes to music but old skool and rap have got to be my favs.though i have to say disturbs cover of simon and garfunkels sound of silence is up there.love your reaction/reviews of these songs,dont stop keep on rockin

This album Deep Purple in rock album, the very best. They started metal along with Black Sabbath. Led Zeppelin is more blues. Rock never really deserved to be in the triad of metal. Zeppelin is more popular than Purple and Sabbath. I've seen all 3 in their big times. Purple by far was better live than the other 2. We all pretty much agree to that in the early 70s. But we have our own opinions who was best back then. deep purple was best by far live to me also.
