Not really imo. Telling someone that being afraid or mourning loss is bad won't eliminate those feelings of fear or grief. Emotional maturity means being at peace with your emotions, acknowledging them, and still maintaining a level head and making logical decisions in spite of your emotions. Surpressing emotions, as was preached by the old Jedi order in these films, will only cause them to bottle up and come back to bite you later. Ironically, this is more of a path to evil than anything else, and is why Anakin turned in the first place. Someone with severe emotional trauma was told not only that having that trauma was bad, but that they needed to eliminate all negative emotions + even some positive ones (not allowed to love either). I get the message these films are going for. If you act on pure emotion, you will end up making rash decisions that leave a trail of pain, suffering, and regret in your wake. It's just surprising that the 800 year old wise mentor's best response is "hey, don't do that or you will become an evil dark lord."

“Train yourself to let go everything you fear to lose.” That might be the hardest thing to do. Especially if you’re too attached to someone. Like I am.
2:02? I don't like that quote, I think it a terrible philosophy. Maybe it is a mistranslation. "Make peace with the possibility of losing" could be better than " training yourself to let go of". Besides, he was talking to _Anakin_ specifically when he told him that. You are not a Jedi, so maybe it isn't so bad for you. 💡
@@Itsnoahscott Well, who are you going to listen to? A Jedi Master renound for his wisdom and good nature, or me, a fellow American Human who is your own species and knows what it is like to be in the "denial" stage of falling in love?

"Much to learn, you still have." (Yoda to Count Dooku, Episode II) "Always two, there are. No more, no less. A master and an apprentice." (Yoda to Mace Windu, Episode I) "Wars not make one great!" (Yoda to Luke Skywalker, Episode V)
So, I know Yoda kinda gets some, if not a lot, of flak for his conversation with Anakin about death during Rots...but, like, I think Yoda gave him the best advice he could with the knowledge he had. It's not like Anakin was truthful about why he sought Yoda's guidance and, furthermore, saying that you fear that someone is going to die while the Republic is in the biggest war it has seen in thousands of years does, uh, not help a whole lot. For all Yoda knew, Anakin was worried about Obi-Wan dying or another Jedi he knew, he didn't went "Oh I am having horrible visions of my secret wife dying in childbirth". So, really, Yoda gave Anakin the best advice he could give.
Still, this is also part of the problem why the Jedi Order failed. Because they feared emotions themselves. Their mantra was just "don't think about it and move on". Only if you accept that these emotions do not only exist but are an existential part of yourself you are able to overcome them. Anakin was braught to the Jedi when he was quite old, when he already forged bonds and attachments to others. That's why, especially because Yoda was the one who allowed Anakin to become a Jedi, despite his age, he should have taught him how to handle those emotions instead of just telling him to ignore him. You can even see this in episode 6, when Yoda and Obi-Wan tell Luke to kill his father and when Luke says that he can't do that, because of the attachment and the emotions he has they are like "Then the emperor has already won". But in the end they are proven wrong. Because and not despite the attachment Luke has for his father he was able to bring back Anakin, because Anakin himself saw in that moment that he had to be the father he never had, be it at home or in the Jedi Order. Attachments saved Anakin, saved the galaxy. And I think that's quite a beautiful message.
@@mmm7528 You are wrong, if the no attachments thing was a mistake, then why only like 0.1% of Jedi turned? their system was working until Anakin came. In addition to that, how should Yoda teach Anakin something he never did, not even himself. Yoda didnt taught Obi wan to do it but he still did it. Another thing ou are wrong is that attachments saved the Anakin, attachments almost cost Luke to go to the dark side, what saved him is that he let go of his hate. What saved Anakin was the compassion and selfess love he had for Luke, not the selfish love that he for example had for padme. Jedi no attachment were proven right.
