Drifting with Erie Dearies? Countdown. Always my favorite method. Trolling has a lot of variables. Long line, dipseys, downrigger. Spoons, crankbaits, worm harness, spoon and crankbait on a three-way swivel. It's all good.
Good call!. I set out to do that one that too, but the breeze picked up. You’ll notice when I said “3 ways” in the video, it was an out take, because I originally said 4. I like casting Erie Dearies when it’s a bit calmer.
Same advice in the video, but in general, locating them is all about water temps. Usually by October, the water is starting to cool, so the fish will begin to move back into the western end, but until the water cools, it can be tough. That’s why many switch to perch this time of year.
@@thegreatlakesfisherman I am just planning to rent a cottage in Erie au and thinking abut fishing at that time. Is perch fishing different from the walleye. I am new to the lake and not to good with fishing 🙂
Sorry - I assumed that you were talking about the western basin. I have never fished Erieau or Rondeau Bay. The main lake over there is known for steelhead but that takes big lake trolling equipment. If you plan to fish the bay, I have heard it has got some great panfish fishing. If it were me trying it for the first time, I would cast small jigs (1/16 oz.) with plastics or try a perch rig with live minnows. If targeting perch, this video may help: ua-cam.com/video/yD8BVzZf8Vw/v-deo.htmlsi=pEWV1niZWHBj-4Fc
I use 2 oz almost always, but it depends a bit on the action of the rods you are using and the wind/waves. In heavier wind/seas you can go a bit bigger, but too much wind and you don’t want to be out there anyway.
Yes I know I was being funny. Anyway I just got another boat and now my truck broke down so I will be out there with you as soon as I pick up a truck but when I used to troll I would do it with jet divers to get those black and green worm harnesses down.
Now I’m curious…do I sound like him, look like him or what, lol? I haven’t used jet divers. What do you like about them over dipseys or bottom bouncers?

@@thegreatlakesfishermanJet Divers are junk . Number one . They break easy . Number two . Your much better off with an in line weight . There cheaper and they don't break . 👍🎣
He didn't shut the clicker off.... That tells me everything I needed to know 😅

I enjoy fishing with Erie Dearies too. Especially in low wind conditions!
Enjoyed it.....nice job. How about casting? My favorite is the Erie Dearie.

Nice Tilley!
Thanks!
October fishing ? Any ideas ?

@@thegreatlakesfisherman Another great video on fishing. Subscribed to your channel - thanks.
@@steelrat5604 thanks for the feedback!
How you determine what weight to use on bottom bouncers?

Generally, 1oz per every 10 ft depth
@jacobmiller9689 that’s a great rule of thumb!
Hey aren't you David Menzies from rebel news😂
I am not.
