    I’ve got a few sting nose minnows and I am very impressed with them. I use small ones for panfish and walleye fishing through the ice. Even caught a couple walleye last year on Chautauqua in open water using the technique in this video. The lure sinks like a rock, but they go for it. One of the best features of the sting nose that Ivo never really mentions is that the hook size is perfectly proportioned to the lure size. Many of my other brand jigging spoons seem to have a treble that is a bit too big. I’ve been using silver but I’m looking forward to using the gold ones I finally bought a couple weeks ago. Rest assured, if you get a few different sized sting nose, you can leave most of your other jigging spoons at home. Tight lines everyone!

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  5 років тому +2

      on the eastern basin, walleye start to spawn when the water temp hits around 44 degrees - shoals are the best area and early in the season on the eastern basin, the 20-foot zone works well :)

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  6 років тому +1

      ...I see you have got some good replies already from our great family of subscribers :) Let me add, the best time to catch walleye from shore (and yes you can) is to fish the last hour of the evening and the first hour or 2 at night - the walleye will move into the shallower water to feed during low light conditions :)

    • @mallettebrett
      @mallettebrett 6 років тому +1

      Find a shallow river near you and find back eddies and the spots after riffles. If its hot out they will bite a jig with plastic every time. Also try letting the jig drop and reel in super slow. When ya think your reeling too slow its not slow enough. 9 times out of ten the walleye or pike will smash it on the initial fall.

    how do you know where to fish on lake erie? I just sank my kayak and realized I should probably buy a boat, so I did. Took it out on the Niagara river today, didnt catch anything though, even though I had a good amount of success there in the spring/early summer on my kayak... Im thinking they are in the lake now, do you just find 40 feet of water and just start jigging? would love some more fishing pointers for those of us trying to figure out there area.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  6 років тому

      ...the walleye are following the baitfish on Lake Erie....find the bait and the walleye will be close by....walleye will also relate to structure, but the baitfish are the key on Erie - try going out of PT Abino and try either side if it.....venture into 45 - 60 feet of water - good luck

    • @brandonmclean58
      @brandonmclean58 6 років тому

      ah thanks again! will definitely try, gotta pick up some of those jigging spoons, I lost about 75% of my tackle when I sank my kayak so Im a little light in that department, at least I have a boat now, still should wait for ideal conditions as its not a big one and I hear erie can be pretty rough sometimes but not as bad as ontario at least.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  6 років тому

      if you bring them up slowly and then release them right away, no fizzing is required....if, for example, I would have put him in the live well a=for a few minutes, he would have definitely needed fizzing...so a slow retrieve and quick release back in the water, will avoid fizzing :)

      @thundermistlures  5 років тому

      @@outdoorsman9384 Hi Eric - we use a number of methods - one of course is using electronics - once you mark one, fish that area as there are typically more - also, look for nearby shoals and structure, with changing depths (drop offs) - the walleye will relate to that - also, find the baitfish (using electronics or by sight with birds diving), and fish that area - lastly, troll for walleye then once you catch one, stop trolling and jig that area as there will be more around - those are a few options for you to consider :)

    Hey Ivo, I enjoy watching your videos, but it would be most helpful if you could show a couple fish catches from the initial cast, retrieve, hook-set, fight the fish through netting the fish. There are way too many fish catches that start after the hook-set and the fish is already half way to the boat and you comment on what a good bite it was. I'd love to see you work the lure, see the strike and hook-set and reel it in. I'd take three fish catches showing the whole process from start to finish over 8 fish catches starting after the hook-set. I don't learn a thing from those catches and they're boring watching one after another. I understand the camera man wants to fish too, but give me 3 fish catches from start to finish, then let the camera man fish the rest of the day. Thanks for accepting my criticism. I love your videos I just want to learn something from them.

      Yes it looks like the American side as I can see Buffalo in Back ground? I am not a pack guy either to many nut jobs out on the H2O. I launch out of the SBH and the fishing has been Awesome there this year as well as other places!! I really enjoy your true to life, down to earth, real folksy INFORMATIVE video's. Keep up the good work and I wish you good fishing, good selling and good weather.
