    Awesome video Ivo,My buddy and I have been out fishing perch also,we been catching some really nice perch also but we have been using the 2 jig method using 2.5 inch rubber minnow on the bottom jig and 2 inch curly tail for the top jig with some good luck,where only fishing in water between 6 to 12 feet...I also just installed a new Humminbird Helix 9 SI KVD Edition but I need to fine tune the settings yet to see where all the fish are,So for the time being I using my Humminbird Helix 5 DI, Next time I go out I am going to set up one of my other fishing poles to use one of the sting nose I bought from your website which I know worked great last year, it worked great for catching perch and a whole bunch of small mouth Bass.I see the perch your catching are spawning good with all the female eggs coming out.

    Excellent video and amazing catch Ivo. You should try to sell your lures in Hamilton shops. I know I've seen them at Peter's tackle just a little far for some of us.. I might be able to help with distribution of that's a barrier.
    Regarding the fishing.... What conditions do you look for to find the perch in Erie ? .Is it mainly spring time when they school up? How about fall time? Is structure a factor ? Thanks in advance.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  3 роки тому +1

      Find the baitfish and the perch will be close by - ion the fall, they school up deep, off shoals and points, In Hamilton, Bills Bait &Tackle as well as Fishing World, both carry our products :)

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  6 років тому +1

      Yes - Amazon carries them......for lake trout we like to use the 3/4 oz, 1 3/4 oz or the 2 3/4 oz Stoingnose.....all 3 sizes work, but the deeper we are, the heavier we use :)

      Hi Thomas - great to hear from you and thanks for writing in about the Stingnose.....glad you are catching perch on the Stingnose and that you are enjoying our videos :)
      Hook foul can be due to many factors; line, technique, conditions etc.
      There are a few things you can do/try, to help with the treble hook getting caught on the line.....
      Try tipping it with a tiny piece of bait or gulp - the tipping changes the fall of the hook....try changing your jigging method to more subtle....try re-spooling your line in case it is all twisted....try a different size snap......you can also try a different rod, as a soft tip (as opposed to a stiff tip) produces a different jigging motion as well and lastly, you could always swap out the treble hook for a single hook - hope these help -The Stingnose will catch you a variety of fish, so good luck out there.
      Thanks again for taking the time to write - Bye for now and good fishing :)

      @@thundermistlures Yea ivo I have the same problem...love the stingnose jigs they really work but is frustrating when they tangling...one thing I've found was to pause on the upswing. I often tip the jig w/a perch eye or minnow head....still get tangles though.

    • @paullecat1230
      @paullecat1230 4 роки тому

      From saltwater, we do better if we maintain contact with the jig on the way down. If it goes totally limp, you may miss a bite and it allows a lot of motion on the jig that can double back and snag the line. Just my 2 cents...

      You would tailor the size to the species you are seeking - for example, for perch, the 1/2 oz, 3/8, or 1/4 oz are ideal....for bass/walleye go bigger, like 3/4 oz or 1 3/4 oz. Same thought process for salt water - if you have a specific fish in mind, just ask me and I'll let you know :)

      Thanks for your feedback Harry......just so you know - at that time of year, there are hundreds of boats out there doing this and it's been that way for years....the Ministry allows it as the perch stocks must be just thriving....understand your point, but perhaps you may want to write to ministry and ask to have the law changed?

  • @ryanio123

    Kind of sorry to see so many spawning perch being kept. It's his legal right, but how sustainable is the practice?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  7 років тому +2

      I would imagine the MNR keeps a close watch on populations, as this as it has been legal to fish this way for many years and that's why everyone does it......the best way to stop it is to have the law changed

      very sustainable, if it were on a small lake than id say no but this is Lake erie one of the biggest lakes in the world i believe 11th or 12th biggest, the lake can support this.

    Thundermist cannot even give the customer an estimate of when their purchase of "Stingnose Minnows" can be delivered! Regardless of whether you try to purchase them from Amazon or directly from Thundermist, they cannot tell you when they might be able to deliver them to you. Here we sit in January of 2020 and Thundermist failed to build-up enough stock to keep their customers supplied during Ice Fishing Season.

      HI Mohammed - great to hear from you and thanks for the feedback and point is well taken....please keep in mind though, that fish came out of 50 feet and would be stressed at that point - also, it is common practice to keep those fish, as every boat out there does (just so you know)....many people eat the eggs as well, as freshwater caviar. Thanks again for taking the time to write to us and good luck on the water.

      Doesn't seem like a sustainable practice. You were obviously within your legal right, but the "every boat... does" isn't a great moral argument.

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  7 років тому +3

      ....totally agree...the best way is to contact the ministry and try to have the rules changed because hundreds of boats/people do it and have done so for years

      this isn't a little inland lake this is lake Erie it is a sustainable practice, this lake is an inland sea it can support this kind of harvest thats why the DNR allows people to do so

      Mohammed Badruddoza: the bigger problem Canada has is the commercial fisherman. They have cleaned out perch in some area's where you could catch many good perch like Long Point,Wheatly & Erieau. Ohio is now having this problem & is why on Lake Michigan where monster perch were in Indiana,Illinois & Wisconsin the limit is only 15 per day. Ohio is now only 30 per day while Canada & Michigan are still 50 per day on Lake Erie & still 35 per day on Lake Michigan. But thinking of lower it to 25 per day on Lake Michigan in Michigan waters.

    who the fuck uses a boat to catch fish that pretty much don't go over 1-2 lbs, and fish are only net worthy if they have teeth or over 4lbs heck if you catch a bass you can forget netting them until they're over 10
