Nice video man. Yeah I drive an 05 F250 and I completely swapped to JDM Astar lights for the exterior (ahem minus the fog lights). H13 8th Gen (best imo as far as clean light output via stock housings without being blinding when running low beams.. high beams aren't the greatest, but by far greater than halogen any day.) PX Series 3157 Amber Front and Brilliant Red Rear 50w Equivalent White 906 Cargo Bulbs 50w Equivalent Brilliant Red 921 for center high mount brake light 144-EX 3156 for Reverse (provides best 360° coverage within taillights to produce a bright 180° view behind up to eight or ten feet roughly with the taillight housings I'm using) 194 White for Plate Lamps 194 1:1 Series Amber's for 08-16 side mirrors 194 Amber's front markers Stock style chrome headlight housings TYC Fast & Furious Series Taillights (provides better reverse and brake light display over stock) Rigid Industries DOT/SAE Fog Lights (had to wire them into an upfitter switch do to the JDM Astar 8th Gen H13 bulbs would glitch when switching back and forth between high beams and low beams with the stock fog light switch engaged. Found out from JDM Astar its a grounding feature with some Ford's to deactivate the fog lights when high beams are engaged that grounds via through the headlights). However I might be upgrading the stock headlight style housings to projected LED housings in the near future. Trying to see if Alpharex will make headlights for 05 to 07 Super Duty's.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH Thanks man. It's been a little over a decade of building that truck up. I did a lot of work to it during the time from exterior features & upgrades, interior features & upgrades, stereo upgrades to engine & suspension upgrades.
@@250r6 Unfortunately JDM Astar stopped offering H13 LED bulbs all together since the start of the pandemic. However to answer your question about the JDM Astar 8th Gen H13 bulbs they're more of a 5700k to 6000k ice white with a hint of blue.
Hey Justin, hopefully you see this. Your videos have helped me out a ton. Any recommendations on taking the map light cover off? I’m struggling to het my lens covers off where you show us around 10:46 in the video. Thanks!
It has a little square spot where you put a very small flat head and pry out !! I know that sounds kinda broad but if you look at it you’ll see it .. hope this helps. Thanks for watch I really appreciate the support. Message me on Instagram if you still can’t figure it out.
When I click on the link it takes me to lights that aren't for my truck. Have an 07 6.0, also can't find the jdm astar g2's Ike you used in the video? Am I missing something lol?
Might want to check DOT and local laws. Having red on the front of the fender may be illegal. Also the DOT lights on the cab could be illegal as well they are supposed to be yellow/Amber. Great presentation however. Been looking for lights for our new wrecker.
I actually sold the truck but never had any issues but I’m sure if someone wanted to get technical may be illegal… I live in small town so never worry about much stuff like that… thanks for watching !!!
I found this video a little too late, the led headlights are out of stock and they dont know when they will have them again but theres plenty of switchback lights
TC93 yeah man they’re all like that some sort of “safety” feature I suppose.... I’ll do some research see if I can’t figure out how to bypass it, and I’ll make a video on it !
It sounds like the previous owner rewired your fog lights to stay on with the high beams, probably by splicing into some of the headlight wiring in the fuse box. This causes the high beams to turn on when you just put the fog lights on. Not too sure how to reverse that, as it varies by vehicle. Just look up how to wire your fog lights to stay on with high beams and undo what is mentioned.
stereophonicstuff it’s a known problem on fords when swapping to leds. Nothing to do with my truck specifically. You need to have a resistor installed to hold back the extra current going to the fogs.
That's interesting. Never heard of using a resistor for anything other than eliminating hyper flash but I don't doubt it. Now I'll need to look into it myself.
Have heard great things about lasfit as well. Never used them though and I get bright lighted all the time so not sure that I’d want brighter if it does exist. Especially for the price of these. Thanks for the comment!
JUSTINHAWKSMITH i like the brighter cause well where i live theres no street lights out of town, id rather see more, im planning on getting a light bar soon cause even woth mine it feels like i still miss deer sotting off the road and they like to bolt in front of me like they see my truck as a target 😂😅
If after market LED sources appear brighter looking at the headlight from 15 and 25 degrees above as you demonstrated in this video, it only proves that LED retrofits do not have the pattern control that the original source has. Retrofitting headlight reflector housings with aftermarket LED's should be illegal! Reflectors and the source are designed to work together, LED's can not emit the same amount of power from a pin point source as a filament does. There getting better but the size of the source is still larger and this makes the pattern much more of a wide flood and less of a spot. There is also so much the consumer market does not understand about color temps and how that effect visibility. LED is a very narrow color bandwidth I can appear blazing bright but be harder for your brain to process then other light sources of less output.
🤢🤮 3 side led bulbs are junk along with most led bulbs. Only 2 good LED bulbs on the market are Morimoto or the Diode Dynamics. High quality halogen bulbs will give you better output compared to those bulbs, or just do a projector retrofit and you’ll have amazing output without all the blinding glare.
Cody Herman to each their own, my opinion is solely based off of best bang for buck cheapest , brighter than OEM grade lighting. And these for a $50 dollar bill. Can’t be beat. Just my 2 cents , I’m sure there is better. There’s always better. For $50 dollars though, this is the best. IMO.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH I saw you mention in another comment that people flash their brights at you. That's not just because you're running LED's it's because the triple sided LED (or any LED for that matter) is not designed for the stock halogen reflector housing on the truck and thus you're shooting a lot of light off in random directions, namely up at the faces of oncoming traffic. That why CJH is saying your lights are junk.
For the record I drive an F250 but you don't seem to get the point. It's not the height of the vehicle, it's the fact that the incorrect causes light to shoot up at an angle, not straight out and down like it's supposed to.
How is the beam patern can you do a video showing that.

The link you have for the headlights says its for fog lights.
Nice rig
Where is the link for the turn signal lights
Hi beam vs low beam?
Any hyper flash? Or do you have resistors wired in?
No resistors , just swapped my turn signal relay to one that accepts led bulbs. I have a video on it just type in f250 hyper flash fix justinhawksmith
Nice, might need to upgrade this when I swap in a Harley Davidson headlight
