What color did you use?
Bright white, there are links to the exact bulbs I used in the description
The color of the bulbs doesn't change on the dash bc they are behind the dash and the dash has a laminate across it if that makes sense to you. I think in order to get the dash to change color you have to change that laminate in the front. Thats why I just went with the white bulbs to fully illuminate the reds and greens on my dash. Hope this helps.
since the film laminate is green, you could probably use green bulbs too, it would just be super intense green
Red changes the entire dash to red, no matter the color film. If you like night vision to be the best
For years I've put off doing this because I thought it would be a nightmare. I had about 80% of my bulbs burnt out. This video made it so easy. It was well put together and now my dash pops. I love night driving again. Thank you!
Excellent video. Step by step instructions helped me get the job done. The polarity tip was extremely helpful. What worked for me (because I couldn’t see minuses or plus signs) on the bulbs, was to plug in the gauges as well as the headlight switches and use trial and error method. Got all lights working (I think) 😂
Huge shout out to you for this helpful video!!!
Excellent video. I thought it would take me all day to do this, but it only took me a couple of hours. Had to pull the cluster panel back out because I got some of the polarities wrong, but no big deal. It went just as the video showed it would. I had one illumination light left and all I could see at night was my speed. Now it looks new again. Thanks!
Finally! Someone who knows how to put together a very well done vid, BRAVO! I have a 2001 Ford Excursion V10. I really like what you did so I'm gonna give it a try. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you👍
Great job sir excellent video I especially like how straight to the point you are no stupid music or dumb comments. Great job sir
The information world would be a better place if everyone produced videos as well as you! Thank you for the effort you put into this video!!
Getting ready pull my gauge cluster out this weekend as my fuel gauge doesn't work and half my lights are burnt out. My plan is to get a new cluster and then replace all the lamps, thank you for a great and detailed video.
Great video, helped me with replacing my F350 7.3L's dash bulbs
I swear every body makes it look so easy working on f250s
Some leds store energy after they are shut off they still glow or flicker. I ended up using some of the old bulbs in place of the leds. For example my 4x4 indicator continued to be lit up after shutting it off. Since this isn't used every day I just used the non led type for it.
There's probably a resistor or something that might fix this? Idk.
Great video! Many thanks for taking the time to do a tutorial, that's an actual tutorial and not random ramblings that no one cares to hear. I may have missed it, but do you have a quantity for the 194's and the 37's?
Try pausing the video around 2:30 to count bulbs. It looks like five #194, and about 18(!) #37, so a 10-pack of #194, and two 10-packs of #37. And I agree, this is a fantastic instructional video!
Great tutorial! That actually is a pretty dash.
This was very helpful! Do you know if this gets rid of the beeping sound that happens when the airbaglight goes out ? I would really like more videos on this model of super duties. I have a f250 2000 . Also what ob2 scanner do you use ? There's a check engine light I would like to figure out . Thank you 😅😅
Also also you should show can they be dimmed down
Perfect, mine's a 2001 Super Duty!
how many of each are needed?
So I absolutely love this now here’s the problem i have the 37 led bulbs for all the lights like the WIF WTS SES amd Airbag stay on slightly and don’t fully cut off which sucks unless the truck is off any idea on how to fix that
NICE!
Now I just need to figure out how to change color I was gonna leave mine green but my grill lights and my CB light is red so I might as well make it match
LED dimmer lights require a replacement dimmer switch specific to LEDs. The dash has a dimmer wheel as well. Is there any concern regarding dimming LEDs in the vehicle? Also, how many bulbs? I counted 18 small, 5 large.
As far as dimming, this can be specific to the LEDs and the vehicle. Some LEDs are designed with the correct resistance to mimic an incandescent bulb. However most older Ford's require nothing special and pretty much any LED will dim in them correctly. As far as the count, it will be specific to the options on your vehicle. There also have been some comments about some of the LEDs bleeding some light even when they are supposed to be off. I suspect an LED with some extra resistance would correct this issue.
@@1D10CRACYjust an idea I had, to only replace the bulbs that will normally stay on with LEDs. The other bulbs for seatbelt, battery, ABS, etc. only stay on for a few seconds anyways. Just leave those bulbs incandescent
did the same thing on my 2001 V-8 Ranger
A v8 in a Ranger, that must be awesome! It's like the Ranger SVT that never got produced! Did you stuff a 302 in it?
I also have right now in the garage at 86 regular cab it’s got a small block hundred shot of Nitrous it’s a little drag truck
Thank you so much
Thank you for making this easy
How many bulbs of each total ?
I had mine changed to LED as well after this great vid. The new LED look is awesome. However on mine, my air bag and seat belt light up lightly, not on, but just lightly when the vehicle is running, don't see this when you just turn on the key but vehicle not running, any advise out there on this?
I have a 2001 Ford F-250 and Amazon is saying the 194 bulbs in your description will NOT fit. Should I just ignore that?
@James B Yes, they’re 194’s & the other bulbs are 74’s.
Thanks for the video made the job super easy!!
Hi OP. After your LED bulbs replacing on your 2001 Ford F250, did you have Check Engine light come on for a second or so, then off?
Ford and mazda seem to be the only manufactures that the headlight switch will actually dim LED bulbs. Do your dim with the adjuster wheel or just on/off?
Yes, mine do dim!
@@1D10CRACY awesome. Good news. They dont on my tacoma its on or off, no adjust. Just ordered them for my excursion, was hoping they worked 100% Thanks
Thank you!
Looks awesome! Im going to do this on my Excursion. What year is your beast?
Will the new LED's be dimmable like the original bulbs?
Yup, the dimmer switch works as normal!
Have you had an issue with some of your lights being on very dim when they shouldnt be?
You said you used white for all of the lights, but how did you get it to eluminate green? You didn't use any green?
Correct. I used white lights. The colors on the instrument cluster comes from the translucent paint that is on the back side of the panel.
Only bad side to this is that you can't dim your lights, so after driving for a while at nite they get to bright
Weird, I can dim mine and I do.
So how would I go about fixing the dimmly lit lights tht are not supposed to be on? When I turn my key on all my lights turn on brightly then 4-5 go dim and stay on like cruise, check engine, wait to start door ajar and water in fuel the lights didn’t stay on before bulb swap
Odd! Mine didn't do that! Did you buy the same brand / style of bulbs?
Yes I did at first I thought it was bleed thru lighting but it’s not when the key is turned on all dash lights come on nice clean and bright but then after they are auooosed to go out I have 7 that stay on just very dim
@@charleslangston8244 I am having the same issue with mine and curious if you (or anyone) has found a resolve to the distraction.
The only way I was able to fix the issue was to go back in with regular bulbs on the few that where staying dimly lit so it’s not as distracting at night
@@charleslangston8244 thanks for the reply & I may go that route myself. If I find a better solution, I’ll definitely pass it along.
What do we do if we have a 2002 Lariat with the digi odo. I took out the cluster and seemingly all the bulbs are soldered to the board.
I have an ‘02 lariat and I was wondering the same thing
Not much you can do unless you are capable of desoldering and soldering in new bulbs, which is what I would do.
great video.......do we know if these bulbs will also work on a 2006 ford five hundred ? thanks !!
You can Google what you need
They all should be the same
What happens if you would just the dimmer switch?
Mine dim normally.
How about the temperature controls? Being 22 years old, id rather not just start "figuring it out" bc im bound to break something. Lol
It’s basically the same concept just take the bolts out of the temp controls unplug it and replace the bulbs they should be the same as the warning lights on the cluster
When I go to the 194 at Amazon it tells me that these bulbs don't fit my 99 f250 or will they
Amazon is correct, those bulbs are not what Ford would of used for your vehicle. That being said, they may fit and work just fine, at least they did in mine.
Did you use the white for both types of leds or did you get the green ones for little ones? I want to mirror the green you have going on
I used bright white for all of them.
@@1D10CRACY awesome thanks so much
Your display would be even brighter if you washed that pig, lol.
I know right! In its previous life the poor truck lived as a tow truck. Somewhere in the past decade it had a service body installed and has been living as a mechanics truck. I did wipe the dash and the cluster down before I put it back together but it sure doesn't look like it. :D
@@1D10CRACY They're a dust magnet for sure.
The larger bulbs weren't marked pos and neg am I missing it
You can always try them, if they don't work just give them a 180 twist.
Great video thank you
Does it dim?
Yes it does!
At 3:50 you had the cluster upside down confuse people
I would imagine the people who are confused with the orientation of the cluster probably would be better off not attempting to do this modification.
@@1D10CRACY 🤣
How many bulbs do I order
how many of each bulbs do you need for a total dash swap? is the white bulb holder the same size as the tan/off white holder?
The count will be different depending on your trucks options. And I used the same bulb in the tan spot, it fit and worked just fine.
it looks like 19 #37 bulb spots and 5 for bulb #194? i plan on ordering a few spares (i dont wanna have to put it back together while i wait because i am short a few cheap bulbs)
Did you use white LEDs or green ones?
I thought you said 'upgrade' ?
Yup, swapping from incandescent bulbs to LED bulbs is considered an upgrade. :D
