It wasn't enough that it was suspicious. He gets in with a cord. Luckily the video got uploaded, otherwise, had footage like this gotten out, I'd have been like.. "The murder weapon was a cord, in the tesla, by Colonel Mustard!"
Pro tip from someone who has gotten himself into a lot of bad situations: if it makes you feel funny, and I mean ANYTHING about a situation makes you feel funny, NOPE TF OUT! Honestly, its not worth it. Always better to go home to your own bed. A lot of my friends are no longer with us... Be careful.
It's funny when people say "if you feel funny don't do it" because living with social anxiety EVERYTHING gives me a bad feeling... grocery stores, driving to pick up a friend, zoom calls, elevators, the doctor's office... So in order to not become a recluse, I have to push through that funny panic feeling all the time... *shrug*
This is hilarious. You get yourself into the wildest of situations. I've seen videos of Ubers having to threaten to call the police because a Karen was physically refusing to get out of their vehicle but this is a whole other level of terrible.
That part! It's the worst! Uber provides very little support to the driver. You're basically on your own, which is one of the many reasons why as i stopped driving on that platform!
I'm only 3min in and I hope your mom never watches this whyyyyyy? Edit: Glad that didn't go badly, please stop ubering for the sanity of your fans friends and family
Ah, What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong...I had to sing that one in elementary school. A song made in heaven. His voice brings chills to so many. Every time I hear it, it makes me so emotionally grateful for what we have, and what it means to protect Earth's natural beauty. Who knew that an Uber hold song could be so teary. That's the power of music. When music hits you, you feel no pain. That aside, of course the guy was nice, that's how they get you. And that's why you should never abandon your common sense. ALWAYS stay on guard and be aware of your surroundings.
I got the WORST anxiety watching this, truthfully idk how you handled this so well. I think this guy didn't have the money to get that far and this was his way to scam a ride. He likely has done this before successfully, but you didn't let him take advantage of you like that.
As soon as that music started playing on the dudes phone for Uber customer service I was sure Alex was gonna get decapitated within seconds. Thank the lords he is still with us!
Quick thinking with the battery mileage switch and pulling in the parking spot. Also, very smart not to confront him. Alex, you got very lucky. I genuinely think you were in trouble there. So happy you're safe ❤
I’ve been on Uber Driver for over five years and I can tell you Alex that this was not a scam. When you change the drop off location in the Uber system, it automatically re-calculate and it will charge the correct price so you wouldn’t have drove all the way for $5!
I'm an uber driver also and u r right, I've had this type of ride b4 and also thought it was a scam but once I put the address in it recalculated and everything was good, I think it's some kind of program with the elderly
As someone from Atlanta I can't even process that anyone would go a single step past the address sketchiness and the bush emergence 🤣 I'm so glad you thought quickly!!! ❤️ Please don't let curiosity kill you, the satisfaction only brings cats back lol. I understand what you mean though by swinging between extremes of being unable to interact with people versus throwing caution to the wind lol. It's a process to find a balance. It's learning not to project past narratives or paranoia while also remaining aware, and that's different for each specific situation. Experiences like these are just little data nuggets! Lol
I’d feel sketch if someone at the bluffs or techwood tried something like that but if it were say.. dunwoody, id assume it was someone walking in a neighborhood
I ve been driving Uber for two months and my experiences have been adults that don't take baths/showers and don't wear deodorant. Many of my Indian and Africans have this issue.
Hey, Just wanted to mention that I have been in situations where the rider needed to travel super-long distances. However, i have experienced the exact opposite of what you are speaking about. In general, long-distance trips have been awesome! One that I did not _want_ to do, but did it anyway, was when a guy got in my vehicle at the end of a twelve-hour 'shift.' The UberDriver app did not reveal the destination (Sometimes Uber will _not_ reveal the destination because there is an excellent chance that a driver _will_ cancel a super-long distance ride at odd hours of the morning.). Also, at the time, I was tired and I am at least twice your age. Anyway, as it turns out, the young man was headed for his military base, which was 120 miles in one direction. Out of respect, I had to drive him in honor of his service. Think it through. In practically all of the instances where I had to drive great distances, it was because all other modes of transportation were not operational or impractical at early hours in the morning. So, IMO, there was no red flag. Moreover, assuming that the rider was an older gentleman, he might _not_ be as savvy as you are when it comes to modern tech. Being that this occured a year ago, I am guessing that you now know different.
I watch way too many murder documentaries to know you're gonna end up on one if you don't be more careful. Omgggg the red flags on this pickup. I would've never done this late in general, especially in a high crime area, and on top of that the address changing... Oh hell no. Curiosity killed the cat dude! Lol
I live in New Orleans & our crime rate has always been high but it’s SKYROCKETED lately. I feel like being an uber driver is life threatening.. it’s actually really sad because it shouldn’t be a big deal
I’m from here/live here too and take tons of Ubers. I think the drivers are pretty savvy about where to go and where not to but yeah, I cannot imagine. My husband wants to do Uber and it makes me nervous. I run a restaurant and I’ve seen 2 different UberEats drivers have their cars stolen on Magazine and Cadiz. Why you would leave your car running here is a mystery to me but still on Magazine and Cadiz?!
This is random but I'm a new viewer and it feels like I've joined something at the end, goherping is probably the only channel I've been watching/listening to ever since I rehomed a leopard gecko(that I think never had a heating pad and was stuck in a 10 gallon aquatic tank) and hes now just about the only thing I spend my money on and my only interest apart from skateboarding and painting. I really appreciate these videos as there isn't a single reptile shop aside from that one shithole who shall not be named(petsmart) so this really helps with everything I'd really needed to know to be someone successful as a broke reptile dad. So in conclusion thanks for helping pops
Meanwhile, the streets of Pyongyang are always safe! The only ones that have weapons are the police and the military. And the people don't act against the national interest because they remain proud of our nation and everything that we have achieved. Not to mention, cyclists aren't hit by cars thanks to both the majority of the city traveling by transit and bike, traffic ladies on the streets controlling the intersections, as well as green lanes created specifically for cyclists to stop potential pedestrian accidents. We give apartments in the middle of the city free of charge and would love for you to join us.
It's a great improvement in your anxiety! I was worried about him too. By the way, one of my Uber drivers bought a cage, similar to those in police cars, after he got punched by a drunk client. I wish all drivers had one.
It's so weird that I'm binging Uber videos and randomly come across GoHerping. 😂 I almost commented asking why you look like him.... But you legitimately are him. Lol
It happened to me twice. I learned that when they verify the address that they are going to, that’s a red flag. That address does not exist and you are in the middle of the highway in the dark when the directions stop. Then the passenger has to give me directions from his app. The ride ended up being twice the original distance. Where I dropped him off was this huge lot where tractor trailers were parked. There were a lot of twists and turns. I let him out and thought I was leaving the way I came but I couldn’t get out because now there was a fence. There was a house on the property near the fence with a light on. I went there and the guy opened the gate for me. Before the guy got out of my car he asked me to turn the app off so he can give me a tip. I told him don’t worry about it I’m not turning the app off. I am a 72 year old female. Needless to say that was the last time I picked someone up near or after dark.
I'm not that familiar with Uber, but why is it even possible to set a price yourself without giving a destination? Shouldn't the app calculate the price based on start and desired destination?
It's cool to see a video in the area where I work. I've been driving for Uber & Lyft for almost 10 years now in the downtown Raleigh area. I mostly drive late nights and pick up the drunk NC State kids from Glenwood Ave lol. I've had a couple of scary incidents, but mostly positive rides. Stay safe out there and get that money bro!

i keep planning to do a few more vids on it, so maybe i actually will sooner or later lol. it can be a great form of income but in my life experience, it's primarily up to when and where you drive. since this video, I've done about 600 trips and stuck to college campuses - pretty much everyone has been great. compared to in city super late at night

I kinda felt bad for canceling the order but they didn’t want to change the address on the app and instead just expected me to drive to them without it being recorded on the app. I was by myself and there’s been a lot of dashers that had their car stolen recently near me so I wasn’t taking any chances 💀
*shrug*
You handled this gracefully. Please be careful out there we want to see more videos!
This is hilarious. You get yourself into the wildest of situations. I've seen videos of Ubers having to threaten to call the police because a Karen was physically refusing to get out of their vehicle but this is a whole other level of terrible.
1:55 - “I am such a curious person…” could have gotten him unalived. I hope he learned from this experience.
The fact that drivers have to wait that long for support is absurd. I would never drive for any of these companies.
uber support is indeed horrible
Or at least not when it's obviously sketchy
I’m so sorry that this happened to you, you were really smart how you handled it. Some people are such scum trying to scam others
While I don't entirely disagree with you, remember everyone is dealing with their own situation. Thankfully no one was hurt.
"because I'm a curious person"
Me: oh so that's why there a saying that goes curiosity killed the cat 😬 stay safe fam
i think u should get one of those cage blocker thingies cops have tbh, im starting to get worried for you
This stressed me out. No amount of money would entice me enough to do rideshare. Good thinking on the range bluff!
“What high school do you go to?” 😂
I didn't realize til after he thought I was actively in highschool... I thought he said "did" in the moment lol.
No nope no way Jose negative ghost rider. Not happening. I would never NEVER be able to do this! You're brave.
Haha, wasn’t expecting Greensboro to be mentioned. I live in Winston-Salem which isn’t far from there. Stay safe man.
my deepest condolences lmao
100%
As soon as that music started playing on the dudes phone for Uber customer service I was sure Alex was gonna get decapitated within seconds. Thank the lords he is still with us!
Quick thinking with the battery mileage switch and pulling in the parking spot. Also, very smart not to confront him. Alex, you got very lucky. I genuinely think you were in trouble there. So happy you're safe ❤
I did Uber/lyft in /2016 for a few months. I wouldn’t do it ever again because people are really crazy and I value my life
I’ve been on Uber Driver for over five years and I can tell you Alex that this was not a scam.
I suspect he called a number that he knew would be on hold indefinitely
I was thinking that too.. uber wouldn't have that hold music.
This is not a way to learn healthy ways to interact with people.
I ve been driving Uber for two months and my experiences have been adults that don't take baths/showers and don't wear deodorant. Many of my Indian and Africans have this issue.
Hey,
Just wanted to mention that I have been in situations where the rider needed to travel super-long distances.
Surprised you didn’t get a copywrite strike for the hold music lol
I had major social anxiety just watching that whole interaction.
I made sure to check before publishing lol. I was worried I'd have to cut it down
I watch way too many murder documentaries to know you're gonna end up on one if you don't be more careful.
You're too sweet for this. Hopefully you're into better things.
11:59 major improvement!!!!! That's so huge be proud of yourself ❤
If you had bad social anxiety then I can say you're doing great. Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it
Meanwhile, the streets of Pyongyang are always safe!
Lol
:D
@@GoHerping I'm glad to see you around. You taught me how to care for my corn snake and solidified my hate for fire ants 😂
I never go to different addresses. Nope. I’m on the clock. 😂
You handled this so well! I would have had no clue what to do, you're a very quick thinker, glad you're safe!
Take care of yourself Alex.. this is scary!
He playing that serial killer music in the backseat my boy. 👀😂😂😂
Kudos to people driving others around, I refuse to have strangers in my car.
That new driver was so foolish
"What high school do you go to?" What? Why is he asking?
What a creep, smh 🤦🏻♀️
@@cereskitty I know! I heard it and did a massive double take. I was surprised no one else commented on it...
Yeah wtf was that? 🤦🏾♀️
I take Uber every once in a while. They ALWAYS request the pick up address & destination address. So, that is DEFINITELY A HUGE RED FLAG!
Just like always… a protractor would have been beneficial in this situation 🤷♂️
✊
How the heck can you afford that car doing Uber ? You know something we don’t ? Enlighten us please. I’ll start ubering tomorrow.
i bought the car in 2019 and started Uber 2023, though you could pick up a used model 3 for about 25-30k nowadays
Oh god, I don’t think I’d ever do Uber. This gave me so much anxiety and concern and I wasn’t even there. Absolutely not.
2 minutes in and I'm already incredibly anxious, Alex what are you doing
I'm not that familiar with Uber, but why is it even possible to set a price yourself without giving a destination? Shouldn't the app calculate the price based on start and desired destination?
It does. It’s called base pay.
@@Texas_ice But why can someone just set a price of 5$ for a trip that should be 104$? This sounds like a major loop hole to me.
You did a great job waiting until the man left your car on his terms. You have great spidey sense. Always go with your gut feeling!
I’m sorry but the hold music is cracking me up 😂😂 glad everything worked out and that you are safe!
Thank god you had a brain in this situation. I'm glad you were quick to make an excuse to save yourself. You would have wasted so much time.
How can you place an order for Uber w/o a destination?? Never used Uber but that seems odd....
He set the pick up and the destination as the same place.
Dude you are very patient. You handled the situation well. Lol , he's a nice con man lol.
So I dont have Uber in my area (super rural), so I dont know much about it.. how does one scam an uber?
I do uber the passenger can cancel the ride so usually if that happens I just ask them to leave my car. They can order another uber.
Stop taking chances young man. If something looks/feels strange, don't engage. Don't even accept the fair.
Young man how foolish of you to be driving and working in a dangerous area with drug houses at 3 in the morning.. use some wisdom geeze!!!
You certainly appear very calm and in control.
I swear my ski mask while ubering… ever since my rides have been nice and quiet 😂
hopefully the name uber passengers see on the app is BONECRUSHER as well:)
Just found your channel. I love your voice I love the format of your videos. I love it all
Regarding the afterthoughts , good job dude! I know exactly what you mean about the social anxiety. Props to you man! Not everyone can turn it around. Kudos to you for even trying! 🤘👏
I'm so glad your safe! I stopped doing rides my nerves couldn't handle it.
"i need to regroup at Sheetz" 🤣
You handled that like a pro…but be careful!
haha thanks
Good for you for pushing through your Social Anxiety. Bravo
Oh no, don't do Newburn Ave anytime after 9 PM!!! My godson's family used to love in those little square brink homes along Newburn Ave and it was so sketchy anytime I went to pick them up. I am not faint-hearted about sketchy areas, but that area has become even worse in the past 10 years. Stay safe!
I wanted to do Uber for extra money but after seeing videos on UA-cam I quickly changed my mind. It’s not safe out there and you never know who will get in your car!
i keep planning to do a few more vids on it, so maybe i actually will sooner or later lol. it can be a great form of income but in my life experience, it's primarily up to when and where you drive. since this video, I've done about 600 trips and stuck to college campuses - pretty much everyone has been great. compared to in city super late at night
“ and do you know where we’re going ?”
You’re not even a little curious to hear his answer ….. ?
Always listening for clues and information from clients is the most efficient way to go
I heard his voice, I was like ‘nope’!
No one should be hard on you. You were smart and handled it well. Especially since you had every right to be scared of the dude. I would've been legit panicking.
What City is This in????
raleigh
@GoHerping What was Name of The Street in Raleigh That you said was Most Dangerous Area????
I had hard time making out name of that Street that was most Dangerous Neighborhood in Raleigh?!!!!!
I have Family That Lives in North Carolina.
@@johnschirloff836 New Bern Ave
I had someone order a small fry and small drink to a sketchy neighborhood. I conceal carry a firearm. I decided to do it because I was stupid. He tried to rob me with a screwdriver in a vacant home where he placed the delivery. It was like the Spider Man meme when he opened the door. He didn't get what he wanted. He didn't even get his order. I don't carry cash either lol.
EXACTLY!! Why you you pick someone up from a place that’s not where they originally stated?? Smh
been watching bad uber passenger videos, then I saw this and was like "is that Go Herping??" indeed it is you.
