You guys saved my life! I knew what I needed but I had no idea how to do it. This video was right to the T. Took me 3 hours and my truck is now out of "limp mode". Thank you!!!!
3:50 saved my sanity..I couldn't figure that out. these videos are life savers...well I thought i had it. it broke..thanks ford for yet another pos idea to put the tab to unlock it on the bottom..and I really needed my truck. Tip I learned is to go ahead and take the throttle body off and leave the throttle cable connected (the one with the red tab under neath at 3:22) then you can simply turn it upside down and actually see what the hell is going on. Like I said my red tab broke completely off but oddly it still snapped back on securely and even with it turned upside down and fiddling with it after the tab had already broke I'm not sure where i pressed to allow it to come off..but it did and went back on and snapped without the little red tab. How hard would it have been to just make it like the throttle position sensor..I mean ffs ford. Anyway after cleaning the throttle body thoroughly with crc throttle body cleaner (only use this cleaner..carb cleaner is to harsh) and installing a new throttle body gasket (Fel-Pro Throttle Body Mounting Gasket - 61438) on my 2005 f150 5.4 3v it now idles like it's supposed to and don't try to die when I go from park to drive and/or turn my steering wheel like before. This repair basically cost me $16 total
Should have watch this video first. I broke a 10mm bolt from the throttle body. Didn't realized I had to turn it the opposite way. Now I'm here on YT looking for videos on how to fix it. If you have any, please refer me to it. Thanks!
Can you guys show a video of changing a pcv valve on a 2004 ford f150 with the 5.4? In the throttle body video you guys mention the PCV Valve hose on right side of Throttle Body, but i'm having trouble finding the PCV,Please Help!
Yes. Once you replace the TB and before you put the negative lead back on. You put a jumper wire from the positive lead over to the negative lead. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. This drains the memory in the PCM. After a few minutes, remove the jumper and put the negative lead back on. Turn the truck on only and let the cluster set. Then start the truck and it run for 5 to 10 minutes to learn the cold to hot of the motor. Hope this helps.
My 07 ford has the speedometer needle going crazy up and down, and accelerating feels chuggy and alot of air but no going no where… I’m assuming its this! I also have a hard shift when entering gear or accelerate which I’m thinking is the differential.. so together my truck is running like crap right now, hoping all together it isn’t an expensive fix
Anybody know wth that little line running by the cpu box (3 big plugs) is? Looks like the little hose/round cap thing that's just flopping round on mine. Feels like a vacuum line or something, little 90* here or there, odd round "cap" looks like it should fit somewhere.
You really should explain better what your doing the name's of what your taking loose (incase that need's replaced as well) y'all need to consider not everybody is a mechanic BE SPECIFIC WITH EVERY LITTLE DETAIL it help's tremendously
Do you mean the truck isn't moving at all? If so it could be something transmission related - are you able to put it in gear, is it slipping, etc? If it is moving but the speedometer isn't moving sounds more like speed sensor or an instrument cluster issue
An easy 6 hours job! 4 hours to try to find this $&?%* 10mm socket 1.5 hours to go to the nearest hardware store to buy a damn 10mm socket, and back 20 minutes to do the job 10 minutes to clean up and crack a beer!
Would it cause the head lights too dim??,,,. Cause im having problems with my 05 f150 4.6L ,,,,, everytime i come to a stop the rpms drop really low and headlights dim and it will stall out. Sometimes it wont stall, the rpms will just drop really low. And as i press the gas pedal it has a delay sometimes.
@@youseftarifi3362 it was the throttle body… it was really dirty/black carbon build up… i scrubbed off as much as i could.. it fixed the problem…. But i did get a new one eventually
So i have a 05 f150 and idk if my throttle body or tps is starting to go bad i can accelerate and around 45-60 mph if i let my truck coast and step back on the gas it starts to shake and wants to act like it’s gonna stall but after about two seconds of that it picks right back up and takes off drives great Any recommended tips
That sounds like bad coil packs and plugs, I have had an 08 f150 5.4 now for 11 years and the coil packs go bad often, 20 to 30k miles at least one seems to fail. Doesn’t always throw an engine code either. They are simple to replace “the coil packs” it’s not always the spark plugs. If it does throw engine light you can pin point the cylinder at least. Any time my truck vibrates under a load like going up a hill right when I put foot on gas pedal it’s always a coil pack or bad plug. Usually just a coil pack though. I keep spare coil packs in my truck because of this.
the BBK 80mm on the 04 08 f150 is GARBARGE, it stalls bogs bucks untimly shifts even a tune will not fix. if you look the flap is not even machined good enough to seal to the bore.... they have great marketing thats how the sell. i do this for a living yeah some work but overall BBK is TRASH

If the throttle body is electric does it have to be reset? 2004 ford f150
DUDE!!! This was the most simplest fix EVER!!!!! Thank you so much!
Your video on replacing the throttle body helped me out a lot. I had no idea what was involved. You made it easy for me thanks 👍
do you need to do calibration to the throttle body.

Same issues I'm having currently. Hopefully this corrects it. What a turd this motor is.

What is the learn procedure on a 06 f150 with the 5.4 3v?
No calibration for the 2004s ?
This video was fantastic! Thanks so much!

How do you reprogram the throttle body for that Ford?
Does the throttle body have to be calibrated or do you just start it after you putting it on

The leads you are talking about, where are they located? Do you have a photo?

So what is a good throttle body brand to use to replace this? They range from 100 bucks to 400 bucks it seems 🤷♂️
I drop the spray tube in the intake body will that do so harm
Hi I'm doing the same thing the parts guy said I have to recalibrate the new throttle body is that correct if so how do I do it
I just replaced all my coils on my 07 5.4 and it runs fine on a flat road but when I try going up a hill it does not accelerate
Mine does the same thing if you figure it out let me know
Did you guys ever figure it?
No
No need to program new one?
Can you use the throttle body off of 5.4 on a 4.6 both both of them's 04 model
Wat tools do u need?
My throttle body cover has these bolts with posts coming out the top of them.
Another great educational video... thanks again !!

I replaced my throttle body and nothing happened only the RPMs will go up the miles per hour just stays at the bottom of the zero so what can it be

Probably should get a $6 can of throttle body cleaner first and clean it before spending a couple hundred dollars replacing it.
