    Thank you Claudia for bringing us Dr. Mathis. Everytime I see one of his interviews, I have more questions. I'm glad you brought up the point that we get SO much conflicting information. Getting what we think is the right information is half the battle. The other half is convincing your doctor to go along with it. For years I was told I didn't need progesterone because I have no uterus. But according to him, I do. Also another surprise was the levels of Estrodiol, he suggests 85-200. I was started on .50 now at only .75. So that is another issue I will bring up at my next appointment. It never ends. Thanks again, Claudia!

    • @claudiaglows
      @claudiaglows  6 місяців тому

      Hi Deb, I know it can be so super confusing. I think by an Estradiol of 85-200 he meant blood levels. So if I were you I would ask your doctor for an Estradiol l test to see where your levels are.

    I love my shots for testosterone and estradiol wouldn’t want any other delivery method. Testosterone cypionate has a 7 day 1/2 life so does depo estradiol. I do twice a week injections nice steady consistent levels. I did a consult last year with Dr Mathis is is very knowledgeable but loves Wiley protocol and messy creams that can transfer to pets or kids not my delivery method of choice. Defy Medical is a great option for BHRT

    He sounds like such a knowledgeable and caring dr and willing to work with us older women ..very rare around here and unheard of with my particular insurance hmo and md.

      If you are in Northern California, it can be send to you very easily, in just a couple of days. Or there might even be a pharmacy in your area that has the protocol Dr Mathis prefers.

    Thanks for posting these videos! I'm in Ventura, which is around 30 minutes away from Dr. Mathis and I'm seriously thinking of booking a consult with him. I'm 43 years old. Recently, I've noticed a change. My PMS has gotten much worse and I'm getting night sweats. I've also noticed what feels like hot flashes. Does this mean I'm in perimenopause? My periods are still very regular.

      I’m based in Uk and now on Wiley thanks to Claudia’s videos - life changing wish I had started 10 years ago when the first tiny signs of peri started. Randox in UK does a female hormone panel home test kit for £39. It’s great as on Wiley , my practitioner wants dual 11 and Day 21 testing done as we increase the doses - I went from 50% to 75% to now 100%. It looks like I might end up going above 100% dose as my levels are still a bit low. Super comforting that we can monitor it so easily . Just prick my finger and sent the prepared box in and 2-3 days later I have my results

    Hello, lovely Claudia, these are some of my favorite types of videos from you. You and Dr. Mathis make a great team. Would you know if there is a FB group for women on hormones, specifically the Wiley protocol? I tried looking on FB, but the Wiley protocol's page is pretty inactive. I wonder if someone else has been through my dilemma with the Wiley protocol. I've been on the Wiley protocol, and I am not having an easy transition. I keep getting my period on day 18, and my hormone levels are good; I am also working with Dr. Mathis, but he is stumped as well. Do you know if there is anyone else I could reach out to?

      Hi, I’m glad you enjoyed this video
      Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with a Facebook group. That really is strange, if you’re home on levels are good, I wonder what is going on. I would suggest to keep working with Dr Mathis. Hopefully together you can figure out what is happening. You might want to explore if there’s something you taking or you eating, that could be blocking some of the estrogen or progesterone. But knowing Dr Mathis, he probably has already looked into that
      That really is puzzling, I wish I could be of help. But please keep me posted on what happens

      @@claudiaglows HRT is so nuanced and it so depends on the doctor and patient connection, right? So interesting: I was able to speak to a different doctor today, who will have me on a personal consult in 2 days, and he advised me to stop the estradiol gel immediately. Interesting what he said: in perimenopause, the progesterone is usually the first hormone to decline, not estrogen. So in my case, the progesterone is dropping but still have enough estrogen- and now I have added even more estrogen, no wonder I am bleeding so heavily. He said that just prescribing estadiol and progesterone for a perimenopausal woman is not so straight forward. So stopping the gel and really looking forward for his further suggestion as how to proceed from here. Just for context, I have just turned 50, still having periods, my symptoms are dry eyes, bad sleep, brain fog and memory issues, and the libido dropped to basically zero. I relly just want to be proactive and maintain my health, bones, skin, etc.

These worked really well to keep certain stimulating hormones suppressed and even. The reason i asked is because my other drs.think it is way to high, I was just curious about other women's experience. My original doctor also had my autoimmune disorder so he was very on board with what I needed even if a bit out of norm.

    Where’d my comment go? It wasn’t disrespectful or anything. I’ll try again. Check out Dr. Elizabeth Bright. We’re told not to eat fat, and then told to get hormone replacement when the hormones we need are made through the fat we eat. Just eat properly (no sugar, processed food, grains, seed/vegetable oils, lower carb, and plenty of animal fat), and there would be no need for hormone replacement.

      @@suemazrn- when we eat properly, the hormonal health is handled. Dr. Bright treats “menopausal” and thyroid problems very effectively with diet, no hormones. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want to at least try it first if it means not spending money on something that is made naturally. Not to mention, supporting an industry financially whose only interest is making as much money as possible for as long as possible. So many chronic diseases that we consider part of old age, are NOT. It’s estimated that 93% of American adults are metabolically (hormonally) unhealthy/insulin resistant, and it only gets worse as women go through menopause. The insulin resistance and resulting inflammation is what causes most, if not all, chronic disease (“Why We Get Sick,” by Dr. Ben Bikman), and many symptoms can literally be reversed when eating the right diet: symptoms attributed to menopause, HBP, heart disease, autoimmune, obesity, PCOS, IBD, depression & many mental health issues, type 2, etc.

    What is causing the period ? The estradiol ?

    • @claudiaglows

      Mimicking the natural cycle with estrogen and progesterone

    • @bluecurlygirl
      @bluecurlygirl 6 місяців тому +1

      The period itself would actually be caused by the introduction of progesterone for 2 weeks of the cycle after spending 14-16 days of adjusting amounts of estradiol up to a peak at day 12 and the progesterone signals the shed. It also downplays the estrogen so women who are taking estrogen and progesterone together on the daily are not getting the benefits from estrogen. The cyclic method that Dr. Mathis prescribes is the most natural and beneficial way to take hormones. I have heard people recommend the book Sex, Lies and Menopause - written by T.S. Wiley and I know that Dr. Mathis is trained in the Wiley Protocol. I have ordered it but apparently it explains things in great detail. Hope this helps.

    I mean no disrespect, but I really wish women would question needing hormone replacement at all. Hormones are synthesized from fat, the fat we should be eating. Yet, we’ve been lied to over and over again about how fat causes disease (it’s really sugar, processed food, and seed/vegetable oils).
    We’ve been told to not eat animal fat, then we’re told to replace the hormones we should have if we were eating properly. Please check out Dr. Elizabeth Bright. Even the so-called menopause symptoms we experience would disappear if we ate properly overall (no sugar, grains, processed food, seed oils, and fewer overall carbs) and ate enough fat, specifically.
    While I didn’t experience many symptoms, I did experience hot flashes, and they went away completely within a couple days when I lowered my carb intake. Our hormone health is completely dependent upon fat, not taking hormone replacement.

    So, we on BHRT using transdermal Estradiol and Progesterone and sometimes Testosterone as well, can still test our hormones regularly with Blood testing, which is serum levels, instead of Saliva or Urine or Blood Spot test? I’m not talking about checking the metabolites, which I know the Dutch test is the best for that. I ask because another hormone specialist, Dr Michelle Sands, only test saliva or blood spot, never blood serum. She states that doesn’t work to show real levels with the use of transdermal hormones. I would love to hear what Dr. Mathis would say about that, even though I missed the chance to ask before the show 😕 Anyway, tell me Claudia your opinion and thank you so much for another video with Dr. Mathis and all the great information you put out there. 💗
