Absolutely. If I'm not mistaken I believe the Mesa OEM Celestion vintage 30's are the only ones made in Ipswich England. All other Celestion vintage 30's are made in China and sound very different from their English made counterpart.
Hi Eric , the thickness of the Orange cabinet are effective for the sound of course. The vibration and bass frequencies from the Orange cabinet are more accentuate to compare with the Mesa.
The cab will be dependent on the head plugged into it. The 5150/6505 simply works with the Rectifier cabs which would explain why you see that combination. The Orange cabs are amazing with Rectifiers. In a perfect world, I'd like to own both and you can't really say one is better. All just personal preference.
I have an Orange Rockerverb MKIII and PPC 4x12. It's my only standalone cab and right now I'm running all my other amps through it. One of those is a Mesa Triple Rec pre-Multiwatt. I must say, surprise surprise, the Rockerverb sounds great through the PPC. The Triple Rec, IMO, is very underwhelming with the same cab. I just bought it, and now I'm looking at getting a Mesa 4x12 Rec cab. The comparisons I've heard so far make me think the Triple Rec would do much better with the matching cab. I think I'm going to go compare the regular vs oversized Rec cabs now.
Mesa has always had more clarity then any other cab I've heard. I think those tiny little differences change everything about the cab. Especially the grill is significantly more thick on the orange cab.
I have an over sized Mesa Cab and it kills. I think the midrange punch of the Orange cabs that are awesome. Neither of these cabs were just thrown together, but the Orange Cabs havent changed all that much in the last 50 years; the Mesa Cabs were truly designed for a specific type of output.
The Mesa has way too much harsh upper mids for my liking. That probably explains why I always gravitated towards the 'darker' tones of the orange cabs.
mesa sounds way better for more metal sounds, and blues/jazz sounds. orange sounds more for punk rock and cleaner rocks styles. nice vid! love the greater quality
how does the mesa sound so much louder(bigger) if theyre the same speakers ? oh theyre different ohms, thats a big reason! I think the main sound differences are the ohm difference and the front material! I heard that you can change the fronts on the mesa too,or maybe you cant change them but the straight front has baffling vs the slant doesnt apparently!
According to my research, Mesa and Marshall has their each own v30 made by celestion and build in England. The others companies Orange,Engl ... has "standard" Celestion v30 build in china. Chinese doesn't mean less good but sounds different. Make a researche about : T3903 Standard 8 ohm (PC) ------------- (chinese) T3904 Standard 16 ohm (PC)----------(Chinese) T3987 Marshall OEM 16 ohm (UK) T4416 Mesa OEM 16 ohm (UK) T4335 Mesa OEM 8 ohm (UK)
Mesa V30s are made custom in ENGLAND for Mesa Specs(fender does this as well), it’s a custom V30. Orange probably uses the China ones now, Mesa has its own sound and going to be different than other V30 speakers.
For me it depends on what amp I’m using. If I use a brighter sounding amp, I’m choosing a warmer sounding Orange cab. If I’m using a warmer sounding amp I would go with the Mesa. I know it’s polar opposites but I think it’s a method that sounds better.
The reason why one sounds better than the other is because they’re using the same settings and each amp is going to take them differently. I’ve heard orange amps sound way better than Mesa. And Mesa better than orange. But it’s also mics and mix.
Maybe the wood are the same but the result are not.Orange cabinet are more heavy pound.Logicaly the Orange are more bass.Depend also which cabinet you have.Is this PPC412 or CR PRO??
Great comparison video! I’m currently undecided between the two. I had an orange 212 but now have a Mesa 212. But now I have the orange on the way again. I think the only way I’ll be happy is if I have both lol Love the orange for vintage cleans and I love Mesa for its clarity and punch, but cleans still sound awesome through it just with a touch less warmth imo. I like the black Orange cabs. Funny to find out both speakers are Chinese. I guess the only thing left to do is compare a Marshall cab to these ;) ...or have you already?
much better quality man. thanks for this. one other thing you might consider as to the difference in sound between the cabs is that the volume in square inches/centimeters will differ and this should impact at least the low end i would think. i never considered that the grill might have such an effect on the high end but the orange grill is much more dense than i thought so thanks for that as well.
I don't know about when this video was made but Mesa has the Vintage 30s made in the UK. And they do have a little different sound then the normal ones
Dude thanks a lot for this vid this was literally what i was searching for! I wanna buy a 6505+ and i couldnt decide between an orange and a mesa cab. In your video not only you compare the two cabs, but you re also using a 6505+ as well! ! Btw im going with the orange, sounds better to my ears plus looks better paired with the 6505 as well :D
So hard to choose. Originally thought Mesa 100% but after listening again and adjusting volume difference between the cabs, I’m not so sure. Tbh I think something in the middle would be MINT!!! One a touch too bright one a touch too warm. I’d probably run the orange with my presence pushed a little more and a little less resonance.
hey man, im really glad you started to mic your amps - it's really great you took to that criticism. this will really improve the quality of your vids B)
Matthew Robison I’m traditionally an Orange guy and I think for what I play the Orange works better. In these comparisons though I like the fuller midrange and seemingly reduced treble of the Orange on the cleaner first sample but for all the others I prefer the Mesa for exactly the same reasons. I think it honestly depends on the kind of music you play which one you are likely to prefer.
Thanks for the video it was vary interesting to hear the difference between them. I got the Orange Jim Root 2x12 cab. I like it a lot but I don't have anything to compare it with. haha
Hi, my rectifier head is 8 ohms and my orange ppc412 is 16 ohms I know ohms sensitivity reduces the tube life (per instruction manual) but I am also getting a lot of noise when idle that wasnt there when I used a marshall 1960a that was 8 ohms same as cab... have you experienced extra noise when idle?
the speakers in these cabs are both vintage 30 right? but I believe the mesa v30s are a custom built different design, whereas the orange v30s are 'off the shelf'?
According to my research, Mesa and Marshall has their each own v30 made by celestion and build in England. The others companies Orange,Engl ... has "standard" Celestion v30 build in china. Chinese doesn't mean less good but sounds different. Make a researche about : T3903 Standard 8 ohm (PC) ------------- (chinese) T3904 Standard 16 ohm (PC)----------(Chinese) T3987 Marshall OEM 16 ohm (UK) T4416 Mesa OEM 16 ohm (UK) T4335 Mesa OEM 8 ohm (UK)
The Orange just sounds more old school analog. Which is my preference. The Mesa may be better for precise speed metal type playing but my preference is fuzz and leaning more in the Jack White direction. So the Orange is my choice that I will be buyinf soon.
Mesas use uk made v30s voiced for mesa. In the orange they use chinese v30, even though they have “made in uk” on the cab... regardless of what you believe, this is a fact.
Mesa sounds like dialing a good tone and then adding extra unnecessary treble to it. The mesa bite is good but the tone is very cold. Orange has more full tone but the differences of the cabs could very possibly be minimized with different settings. The thing about amp/cab comparisons is that having the amps settings identical does not show what the amp/cab is capable of. Less low in orange makes it sound more mesa and less high/treble makes the mesa sound more like the orange.
To me it sounds like the Mesa would be better if you were playing heavy metal, whereas the orange sounds like it would be good with less precise genres.

I worked for Mesa for 4 years and I can assure you that the celestion speakers in Mesa cabs are specially voiced and produced for Mesa
Absolutely. If I'm not mistaken I believe the Mesa OEM Celestion vintage 30's are the only ones made in Ipswich England. All other Celestion vintage 30's are made in China and sound very different from their English made counterpart.
I like the orange one better. Gives off a more refined, whole, and rounded sound.
I'm usually a Mesa guy but the Orange cab sounds awesome! it sounds a lot fuller, better midrange.
The orange killed it !
Hi Eric , the thickness of the Orange cabinet are effective for the sound of course. The vibration and bass frequencies from the Orange cabinet are more accentuate to compare with the Mesa.

Wow! I'm shocked at how different they sound! I prefer the Mesa cab on the distorted tones, Orange clean sounded better to me.
Orange all the way! The Mesa has this weird chime to it.
The Mesa has way too much harsh upper mids for my liking. That probably explains why I always gravitated towards the 'darker' tones of the orange cabs.
I'd definitively choose the mesa, so much more clarity.
I wanna see you compare a Diezel cab 👍
I like the orange better. Maybe it’s the mic placement. But ya that orange sounds very balanced
mesa sounds way better for more metal sounds, and blues/jazz sounds. orange sounds more for punk rock and cleaner rocks styles. nice vid! love the greater quality
I like lead tones on the orange more, and mesa for the rhythm part
This is one of your better videos. Great work!
Amazing video! thank you

Agreed and it’s why I actually like orange amps with mesa cabs I think they compliment each other
also is that orange closed back?
that mesa has already too much clarity
id choose mesa amp + orange cab, or the other way around
1:30 1:39
best video you've done yet! thank you
Orange for me - sounds better and the rest doesn't matter as much
in a tight spot right now: Save up for a 300 used evh wolfgang standard, or a used 300 marshall 4x12 cab and 100 w amp. what should i do eric?!
The reason why one sounds better than the other is because they’re using the same settings and each amp is going to take them differently. I’ve heard orange amps sound way better than Mesa. And Mesa better than orange. But it’s also mics and mix.

Mesa for sure. The orange sounds like it's hiding behind itself
Great comparison video!

I’ll take both

what kind of schecter amp is that behind you. You should do the EVH Phase 90 VS. Zakk Wylde Phase 90 VS. MXR Phase 90.
hey man, im really glad you started to mic your amps - it's really great you took to that criticism. this will really improve the quality of your vids B)
Hmm it's a hard one because the orange feels more innthe distance and lacks a punchy mid, but it isn't as harsh
Mesa is brighter, has more of an open bite to it. The Orange sounds warm, but too warm and dull. IMO the Mesa wins hands down.
But the mesa cost 2000$ and the Orange 1000$
@@elivaris5861 In the U.S. they're both $1,199 new.
@@topfloorstudio2684 this is because you are lucky to be in usa 🤣. In Europe Orange cost like 900€ and Mesa cost around 1800€, exactly the double
ps, you're channels taking off buds! good job!
They both sound better with their respective amps. I don’t think there is a better option it’s just a “what do you like the sound of more”
The Orange should be on the ground to be fully effective.
Thanks for the video it was vary interesting to hear the difference between them. I got the Orange Jim Root 2x12 cab. I like it a lot but I don't have anything to compare it with. haha

Orange Cabs have no competition..
The Orange is the PPC412, right?
Is the orange good for gigs?
wait, you can have two heads running into each 4ohm slot?
I wish I had one of these so bad D:
Orange! But both can work just fine in any situation...
How can these sound so different! I have the mesa.
More clarity with mesa, not sure what these other cats are thinkin
i still dont own any cabs lol i just rock a fender bassbreaker 2x12, works great for the shows i play
Mmm, tasty Mesa Boogie. You are the king baby. Hail.
Aorange head on a mesa cab would sound nice
it makes sense really. the orange sounds more British in tone. looser low end, fuller. Mesa is more American sounding. tighter low end, snarly.
grill cloth makes a big differanc
the speakers in these cabs are both vintage 30 right? but I believe the mesa v30s are a custom built different design, whereas the orange v30s are 'off the shelf'?

T4335 Mesa OEM 8 ohm (UK)
My preference is the Mesa, but they’re both great.
Love orange. Plenty of midrange which is important for a guitar to have in a mix or a live setting with bass and drums.
The Orange just sounds more old school analog. Which is my preference. The Mesa may be better for precise speed metal type playing but my preference is fuzz and leaning more in the Jack White direction. So the Orange is my choice that I will be buyinf soon.
The orange sounds way better imo
i like the sound of the mesa more
My Orange is labeled made in USA.
Mesa Boogie for the win!
Is that Mesa traditional or standard oversized?
I like the Mesa
In this video I prefer orange cab
It is true. I talked to Mesa last week coz i was trying to buy this 112 mini cab rectifier. Its got V30 UK made not China
Mesa peeled and ate the Orange alive.
orange cr120h 120w/mesa 4x12 vs mesa dual rectifier/orange 4x12 and go
Thanks for showing me that the Orange is better
Mesas use uk made v30s voiced for mesa. In the orange they use chinese v30, even though they have “made in uk” on the cab... regardless of what you believe, this is a fact.

Orange for rhythm and Mesa for lead, with this comparison. IMO.
hey you said that you have a standard mesa, not oversized. but standard mesa is the oversized :D so you have a traditional ;)
Dude equalise sound level for fucks sake! Mesa was much louder. Cant compare them like that! Its hard to hear silent orange over mesa.
both are great. I like the orange sound better, but not by much.
orange is vintage mesa is modern
i personally liked more the orange
Now I get it why orange cabs are so expensive... they are the best!
orange all the way)
Different not better, orange is softer and mids are reduced Mesa is more fwd in the mids and chunkier.
Can you redo the b52 cab video
i might!
I liked both
Same :)
Mesa, Orange and Engl are imo the best cabs in the world. At least, for heavy music. I like them all !
I've got both a Mesa Dual Rec and an Orange OR100. When it comes to their cabs Orange kicks Mesas ass
Could you do a pickup shootout? Like an invader, emg, blackout, other humbuckers. Please do it bro!
MAybe!
definitely orange...
Nice!
To me it sounds like the Mesa would be better if you were playing heavy metal, whereas the orange sounds like it would be good with less precise genres.
The Mesa sounds brittle
You should revisit the guitar comparisons, like when you compared your les Paul LTD and your ESP or the Gibson and the Epiphone les Pauls ^^ Cheers!
Thanks man! and i would but i dont have all 13539718 les pauls now haha
Eric Shreds lol
I saw that Schecter head :D
Oh-Range!
Will you every try fishman Morden fluence pick ips
what model of mesa cab is that???
and i thought you gave the 6505+ head to your other guitarists. it is also missing the peavey logo on the amp. ps i like the orange more
