    I found this seat in a junkyard. It was from a WS-150 Italika Motorcycle.
    Once more I want to demonstrate how to approach the wrapping of a motorcycle seat with one way stretch automotive vinyl and no sewings at all.
    Perhaps, the most difficult part of the process is the restoration of the foam base which must be done beforehand.
    It is advisable the use of same molded foam material for the inserts. Some old foam pieces were useful.
    A harsh grain sandpaper was useful to even and shape the restored part.
    A piece of headliner foamed material 5 mm thick was useful to get a smooth surface prior to the vinyl wrapping.
    3 mm size staples were useful to fasten the cover edge to the plastic frame.
    The seat looks now rejuvenated with its new cover.
    If you watch carefully the video you will find several tips, I gladly share with my enthusiastic fans.
    I hope you enjoy and find the video useful!
    Cesar

    Most of the people would glue the vinyl to the seat instead of applying the correct forces in the correct angles to staple it to the back. Even applying glue using a professional spry system, when the glue dries it hardens and the good side of the fabric will copy all those imperfections, so no matter what how even the glue is spread it wont look professional. In this case and almost all the cases you should not apply glue there's always a work around. No heat which is great, proper way of stretching the fabric and staples selection. 1 single piece, no top and/or double stitching here so no plastic is needed to make it waterproof, nice job man, well executed as always :)

      Tiene mucho que ver el colocar el lado estirable del vinil a lo largo. La tela de refuerzo que tiene el vinil por el revés estira a lo ancho de este material tal como viene en el rollo.
      El vinil que estira en 4 sentidos funcionaría mucho mejor para estos diseños.

    Can you use a thin 1/4” or so sheet or memory type foam instead of headliner foam??? Or does the headliner foam have a stronger backing? Or I guess I’m asking why the headliner foam

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  11 місяців тому +2

      As the old hard density seat foam has a rough surface the added layer foam is useful to even it. Any automotive foam is helpful and it could be thin or slightly thicker. Why a headliner foam is because that was what I had at hand.

      @Cechaflo  11 місяців тому +1

      @@jasondiddle4226 The headliner foam backing makes it sturdier than a memory foam. If your motorcycle seat foam cushion is in good condition you could add the memory foam over to make the surface softer.

  • @Kris-82
    @Kris-82 3 роки тому +2

    Can I ask you why you didn't glue thin layer of foam to original one same as single pieces and same for upholstery? It's because sitting on it you allow it to work/bend?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  3 роки тому +4

      I put over the thin foam (foamed backing headliner fabric) to only erase some irregularities on the restored foam base.
      It should be well stretched, otherwise wrinkles could appear on vinyl surface. The same applies for vinyl material.

Please, 2 questions, my M.C. seat is very hard- when replacing the cover I was thinking of gluing memory foam to the top of the old foam and then covering with new vinyl.... is this a bad idea??? Second, is there a store / shop, in Mexico to buy the glue / vinyl / foam.... that you could recommend?? or a online retailer that is good and ships to Mexico.... or do need to use Ebay? Seat is VERY basic, a Yamaha XT250.

      Not a bad idea of adding memory foam on top the old foam. It would add softness.

      www.albrightssupply.com/products-search?qs=Marine+vinyl
