Windy, I’ve been watching dozens of seat refurb videos as I create a new custom seat for my BMW. Your re-covering video is by far the best one I’ve seen. Thank you so much. Regards from the UK.
Thanks for this video ! I was gonna spend a lot of money buying the 2 seats but now I’m gonna do it my self thanks to your shareable knowledge! God bless you!
Windy, just wanted to say I discovered your channel the other day and your motorcycle repair/restoration tips are excellent. Love your channel. I just bought a 97 Yamaha YZF 1000 Thunderace needing total resto and customization. Your channel is helping my knowledge base and am getting stoked to start on the project. Please keep up the great work and you have great taste in bikes. Great collection.
Very informative! I like the discussion about the different staple types as well. At about 16:00, it looks to me that it would have been easier overall to start at the middle of the seat, just where it slopes down and forward, work your way to the front part, then go to the rear part. I think that would have resulted in a lot less need to use preliminary staples, and later on remove them.
Hi Windy, I just reupholstered my motorbike seat with the help of your video! Looks good as new! Appreciate you taking the time out of your day to make this.
I don’t know how you don’t have a lot of subscribers or views. This video has been very helpful. I have done some reupholstering in the past on barstools but nothing like this
Okay so just followed your video and recovered my Funduro seat and turned out great. And FYI this is more of a four hour project for a novice :} but we got it done and it looks and feels great. Thanks for the great video.
Many thanks Windy, I just reupholstered my sad looking VTR1000F saddle following your guide, it looks fab now. I was so concerned I'd mess it up I bought a tatty second saddle for £25 to practise on. I now have a spare looking as good as new as well.👍👍👍👍
WE HAVE A NICHE FOLLOWING FOR SURE. TO HAVE A MASS APPEAL CHANNEL I WOULD HAVE TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE SUBJECTS INTO BIGGER MARKETS BUT I LIKE OUR SMALL AUDIENCE FOR THE PASSION WE SHARE.
Just replaced the vinyl on my motorcycle with my dads help. Since our handheld stapler wasnt working we used an air tool version. Highly recommend if you have an air compressor, so much easier. It looks amazing and you've made my day with this video. Thanks a lot:)
Thank you soo much for this video! I bought a ninja 250 for my wife. The bike was laid over and needed a new seat but with your help I made a brand new seat for about $30. (It really helped it was the exact same seat)
SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED STRETCHABLE VINYL,I got mine in Joanns Fabric. Some does not stretch and some does. I got some made for boats and it was very thick and hard to get wrinkles out.TRY JOANNES stretchable vinyl and it should be fine.BEST OF LUCK.
Mate this video was so helpful and the easiest to follow compared to the others iv watched, just finished my seat thanks to you!! Cheers mate thank you so much
This is great. I've got a question..... how come the 3/8" staples don't come through the base of the seat and out through the vinyl on the outside? I'm sure that there's a simple explanation, it's just that I'm extra simple.
GOOD QUESTION MAYBE THE FOAM IS THICK ENOUGH ???? MAYBE THE BASE IS THICK ENOUGH TO CONTAIN THEM ??? EASY TO FIND OUT PULL OUT ONE AND SEE IF IT COMPRESSED ??? COULD BE ANY COMBINATION OF THESE.
THEY DO MAKE AFTERMARKET ONES LIKE THE ONE ON THE GS1100E WE DID A VIDEO ON.LOOK UP THAT VIDEO SEARCHING GS1100E SEAT COVER REPLACEMENT AND I DO THINK THAT COMPANY MAY BE ABLE TO HELP.
Been doing this forever now, takes me about 20 minutes to do the average seat use to pay for a new sewn seat cover, now I just buy 4 way stretch vinyl at 18$/yard and costs me less than 5-10$ a seat, I probably do half a dozen a month on average so it's really the cats ass probably saves me 300$ or more a month and I don't have to wait for the cover, grab the vinyl off and shelf and get to it. I need to learn how to work foam next
I'm reupholstering a banana shaped seat now. I've got the various densities of foam to make a perfect seat I've bought a yard of Marine grade stretch vinyl and am trying to do just as your doing on seat in discussion. I'm using a hair dryer to soften vinyl. I find it impossible to get the job done as you have done on this video. I've applied much heat, muscle and patience w/ no good results. Th e contours of this seat is similar to the seat you've done. I'm wondering if I'm using a 2 way and need a 4 way stretch fabric.
Please can you tell me exactly what size Staples to use for motorcycle seat with a staple air gun ? I am confused about sizing ...how long or how Width the staple has to be for motorcycle seat Thanks

RECOVERING A SEAT IS LOW BUCKS AND EASY.IT MAKES A NICE UPGRADE FOR OLDER BIKES.
IT IS STRETCHABLE VINYL,20 BUCKS A YARD FROM MICHAEL'S OR ANY CRAFT STORE,NICE UPGRADE FOR ANY BIKE WITH WORN SEAT.

LOTS OF WAYS TO GET IT DONE FOR SURE AND I THINK MOST PEOPLE WILL GET IT DONE EASILY.
