Everything you need to know about Mercedes Me and the SOS feature

What is Mercedes me
Mercedes Me is basically an app for you to use. When you are connected it activates features in your car like Live Traffic updates and even map updates.
What it can do
The Mercedes me connect app lets you pair your vehicle and activate services like Remote Engine Start, Remote Door Lock & Unlock, Locate Vehicle and more, all on-the-go. So Unlock your car from an app or lock the car
You can see where it is parked.
Some cars you can even allow you to put the heating and air conditioning on from the app. Usually this feature is available on plug in hybrid and electric models.
Some cars can even notify you if someone has hit your car while its been parked.
You even have the vehicle tracking feature which is really useful when you have parked your car somewhere you are not used to.
Now this tracker is not usually considered a true tracking system so double check with your insurance. But I know of many people who had their car stolen, they used the vehicle tracking feature and provided it to the police to get their car back.
If you own a plug in hybrid or electric car you can also use the app to find your nearest charge points.
You can also purchase other features for your car certain models too. One example is Apple CarPlay can be purchased on the 2019-2023 A-Class through the Mercedes Me online portal if it was not added from the factory when the buyer specced their car. Most models you can purchase features from the Mercedes Me Online portal or the Mercedes Me app, some cars even have an app built in the car like the CLE with MBUX generation 3. It is usually called the Mercedes Me Store.
You can purchase updates for your satnav or for some cars a dash-cam feature.
Depending on the feature, you can buy a licence to use it for one, two or three years or forever to have a feature.
It may depend on the model and what country you have bought your car from.
You can double check by asking your local dealership.
You may get some features of Mercedes Me complimentary for one, two or three years but it usually depends on the model.
Its definitely worth being connected to your car so if you do want to use the features you have got the option.
Also it is worth being connected if you have bought a used Mercedes because the car might still be connected to the previous owner who could in theory see where your car is parked and even unlock it.
How to get connected
Usually in Owners Area of MB website
Create an account before you go to your local dealership to save time.
3 stages
1 Confirm registration - you will get an email to confirm registration.
Now it might be worth arranging an appointment to get your car connected to Mercedes Me. You could try to walk in and be seen but it will be quicker for you to book an appointment.
2 Terms of use - you sometimes can do this on the app or you can use the online portal and find “Terms of use”, then just accept the terms of use.
2 Switch on services - Go to “My Vehicles” find your car, then click on “Manage Services”, select “active all of the following services” and here you can see what your car can do with Mercedes Me.
Now you will need to drive the car for around 30 minutes or so. Then usually after 24 hours your account and settings will be setup.

Nice informative video, can you remote start any Mercedes with Mercedes me? Also what’s the earliest infotainment system that works with Mercedes me?

Thanks for the comment. I think technically some models may (or maybe in the future) will be able to use the Mercedes Me App to open and close doors and possibly start the car. Infotainment doesn’t matter. I think it depends on what options the car has. I think Mercedes Me was first introduced in 2013 but most models after 2015 had Mercedes Me. A clue a model has Mercedes Me features is if the car has a SOS Switch. A general rule of thumb is, the newer the car, the more features will probably be available with Mercedes Me.
