I'm glad you mentioned how to disable keyless entry. The dealer never tells you about that. I've had 7 different Mercedes and never been told. Found out from a neighbour and it saved my C63 being stolen on 3 separate occasions. Anyone would think mercedes wants your car stolen so you can buy another one from them. Some people would shop elsewhere but brand loyalty to German cars is quite strong for most. You would think when you pay upwards of 50k for cars nowadays they should be unstealable. Cheers Nick
Disabling the keyless system is written in the owners manual. Very easy to find. Yes, I have a Mercedes Benz that has keyless start along with remote security system. It also has keyless entry as an option, depending on what variant of the model you have. I know all the key tricks to my A180, because I read the manual that came with the car. My car will also notify me of a tyre with low pressure. No big deal, as I will then simply get the compressor out of its place and pump the tyre up that has low pressure. I also carry a puncture repair kit and pressure gauge.
Just changed my CLA 250 for a new CLA 35 and couldn't switch off the keyless entry. Watched your video and it appears I have the new type key and I can now disable the fob. Many thanks.
Just press lock twice to turn off keyless entry (if you have it) With the previous style GLE you can actually take the button out by pulling it and use the key the old fashioned way! 🤓
Actually the window-opening/closing thing with the remote/keyless fob has been around since the 1990s (1996 models upwards) because I recall reading about it in the owner's manuals of those older models. I remember when the remote used to be that line-of-sight infrared type of the 1991 C-Class (W202)...a late uncle of mine had one; his could have the windows/sunroof open/close if you held down the respective button in the remote fob. Mercedes-Benz cars rock 🤘🏾!
Thanks! Finally a comprehensive set of instructions that applies to my 20018 E400. I would only add that I had to bear down on the outside chrome release button with a screw driver to pop out the aux key.
Even when I think I know everything about the topic you're covering, I learn something new. Still love your videos, thanks Nick! One issue I've had is I can't seem to get access to the key battery of my A-Class AMG 2020 Premium Plus. I've watched your separate video on changing battery, but just can't get into the key (or the spare!)
Hi Nick followed your instructions on deactivating key as it was driving me nuts when washing my EQA Mercedes which is the new key type but it would not work. I went to the main dealer who walked over to my car and just pressed the top button which is lock twice and it works. So it’s the same as the old type key but the lock is at the top where as the old key ( I think ) is at the bottom. Also he told me if you disable key there is no need to put it in a faraday pouch. But I still do both just to be safe. Love the videos by the way.
Sadly there’s no way to tell what version the key is :( So I’d suggest always the first method and then if that doesn’t work, try the second. The shape key you have I’ve seen works in both methods 😅
... after waiting for 13months to get my EQC, it's finally there! And yes, I've picked up some tips&tricks along the way via your channel - thank you for that! - but I thought it would be helpful to have a compilation of tips&tricks per model... In my case the EQC... That way people only have to find the video of the correct model to have a quick-start of their car... 🙂 It's just an idea... I don't know how feasible this is for you. Anyway... great job at providing your content!
Hey thanks Kris! Ooo very nice! Glad you’re loving the videos! I’ve considered that but the only issue is, spec varies massively from UK’s specification to even other countries and is almost impossible to cover every variant. The easiest way I found is making playlists, so if you have an EQC, this playlist with MBUX would be good for you 🤓 Should cover 90% of the stuff 👍🏼 ua-cam.com/play/PLyo-duQc8mypLutfnpJC7e2OHUC87mcYe.html
the "2 press lock button" worked to disable keyless go for my NA 2020 GLE . Really nice to stop that man in the middle theft technique. Also the dead key in the cupholder is necessary now because mercedes eliminated the pop out start button. That allowed you to insert the key in the normal/old ignition slot and it would work with a dead key battery.
Thanks for the video on the changed method of switching off the key. Another question. The %Power dial when braking is it possible to display the proportion of regeneration and mechanical braking. Thanks. Michael
No worries! No sadly not, all cars operate that part automatically so there aren’t any stats on the screens to see what it’s doing. Most of the time though it’s regenerating but braking at lower speeds. If it’s really quiet, I’ve heard them, I think it’s like 10/15 mph or less for the brakes.
You can do that but just go careful if it’s close to the door like in the door pocket, there could be a situation where it’ll think the key is outside of the car and then let you lock it. Then after a minute or two due to no movement the key will switch off! So go careful!
Car’s are full of tech these days which is why I pop into my local Mercedes to help! And also film on my own car. I also have started to cover other brands of car manufacturers too so anything car related, I’m hoping in a few years time my channel will have everything you need! Let me know if there’s any topic you’d like me to cover and I may consider it for a future video!
You'd never leave the showroom, and despite the manual being informative, I'd rater watch Nick's videos. It's great that Mercedes encourage these videos unlike so many other prestige models.
@karenclarke4292 Awh thank you! Been filming some more recently so watch this space! 🙏 I’m grateful they continue to let me film as I do it full time now.
Hey Nick, I have a new GLC 300 Coupe . My key is still not disabled when I tried to do a new way that you have showed in this video. Do I need to lock the vehicle first ??? and then hold the lock button and press unlock twice?? Please let me know. Thanks!
Hey Himantej, yes try the old way, if that doesn’t work try the new way. Sadly no way to tell! New way is hold lock and press unlock twice at the same time as shown in the video.
I actually have that exact CLA you showed in the video for the keyless entry. And I also had the issue of trying to figure out how to disable the feature. Thanks alot :)
Hi Nick, I’ve been watching your videos and been learning so much! Would you be able to do a short on how to switch off keyless go the new way? I’ve read the manual as well and I just can’t get it to work. I got the duplicate key to turn off the old way, but this other key is being stubborn!
Great video Nick. One orher question, i don’t really inderstand digital key handover. Also i have tried to to it and always get an error message. Maybe in a future video you can walk us through
Very informative, clear, and pithy. I have a question, not about this video, but about something else. How can I clean or delete the car's memory? I bought and used a Mercedes Benz S450 2018 and the previous owner has the memory full. When I try to connect my phone a sign saying the memory is full appears. Also, I think this is causing trouble connecting to Apple Car.
Hello Nick, very informative (like always) and a ‘life-saver’ video! The driver’s side door lock and unlock-only option setting on the key have been significant features in my case. I parked the car in a not-so-friendly neighbourhood. While unlocking the door around 8 pm, one guy approached and tried to open the diagonally opposite door from the driver’s side and got pissed off after forcefully trying multiple times. He then gave a big bang on the door and window glass and moved on. Thanks for covering up this key setup feature in the video. Another topic-I am planning to go for a new car during September/ October, so the question for you is whether Mercedes-Benz has the factory default options for rear view dash-cam. Currently, I have a 2020 model of GLE 450, and it has only a frontal dash cam, and I have to initiate the loop recording manually every time before driving. Not an efficient feature in this case😥😥. Though I linked the dash-cam start to the gesture control, there is no need to press any button anymore, but still have to remember to make the gesture to initiate the recording. Is there any improvement in the newer models in this area?
Hey sambakorea, glad you enjoyed the video! Goodness glad you were okay from that incident. No sadly with dashcams with in-built recording equipment, it varies round the world. Depends of privacy laws where you live etc. Hopefully as you said it’ll change in the future!
I've tried to use the blade to access the keyhole on both my S500 and GLE350 and no matter how much I twist or pull I cannot get the top piece to pop-off. And you're correct you have to be very careful as you don't want to damage your door paint nor the handle assembly as it does move with the key but that's all. I may ask the serv tech to try it at my next appmt.
Yeah if you ask Mercedes to show you then they’ll show you in person which might be easier. It’s quite difficult to capture on camera because my hand has to support the whole thing as you do it. I might cover it again somewhen and see if I can show it any better 🙏
Random, but in winter when it's all icy when putting a windscreen cover on, I've always put the front windows down, pull the sides of the windscreen cover in and shut the doors and then use the key to roll up the windows!
Hi Nick! Are you able to do a clip on how to do operator level maintenance of the sunroof/ moonroof of a Merc? Worried that seals will wear off due to weather. Thanks for all your informative clips! Keep it up!
Sadly I’ve not done any servicing on a car before, I let a dealership or a garage do it! 😅 They actually cover it on a Mercedes service each year so you don’t need to worry 👍🏼
Hey Malcolm. I've asked the same thing to my Mercedes mechanic. He says you don't need to worry about that we got that covered every 10,000 miles you come in. So I guess they just inspect it or do their little cleaning or greasy thing. I've had 60,000 miles on mine so far never really asked about it but it moves back and forth the same as the day I got it. So I guess you can just mention it at every service. Even if you never know how to do it they could definitely handle that easily
Hello, my question is: "If I turn off the keyless-entry mode of my fob so that locking/unlocking my car requires me to press the lock/unlock button (instead of just touching the outer/inner side of the door handle), will I still be able to start/stop the engine by pressing the Start/Stop ignition button (especially for current/recent models that the fob can't be inserted into the ignition key port)?" Thanks.
Hi Nick , thanks for your video. I tried what you said on video about how to disable the keyless go function on my w177 / 2022 , but it doesn’t work! Any idea?
There’s a thing called Digital Key handover but it basically lets you share your car with other people by leaving a key securely in the car. I haven’t covered it yet but I plan to this year 🤓
Yeah you could do if…. The car has charge in it’s battery And You have a valid subscription to the Mercedes me app And another I just thought of, if you have signal too (the car having signal to carry out the unlock command with mobile reception)
❤❤ HELLO NICK ❤❤ Hi All, I have a question regarding how to manually TUNING the FM to a specific frequency. I been asking over 100 ppl included Benz dealer in Los Angeles here no one know the answer I have a tablet would like to broadcast the Sound playing on my W167 GLE speakers. My tablet let say set to 88.2 but on my MBUX Only allowing me to select the stations that already found on list let say it allowed me to select 87.1 or 89.1 because these two frequency really have the actual stations found on the list, BUT MBUX does not allow me to tune in to 88.2. I have tried to use Hey Mercedes not working. I have tired to type 88.2 on SEARCH bar also couldn't May I know how to TUNE IN to our specific frequency on W167 GLE MBUX? Big thanks for helping ❤❤❤❤
Hey CryptoWhale007, I’ve not ever manually tuned the radio before but I have seen it. You can press the search button to manually type something in. If you can’t type in a specific number I would presume it’s not available or something, it’ll only tune to what the antenna’s will allow. Can you not change the frequency that your tablet outputs?
Thanks for the tips&tricks. About switching the key off during washing. How do I make it lock in open? That is more useful due to closing mirrors and the need the access the car for cleaning.
Hey veggis, no worries! I don’t believe you can. You could leave it open and leave the key inside? Or switch off the auto fold in mirror in settings 👍🏼
@@npoleary Norway EQC owners has not found an accurate answer how the pre heat the battery during the winter. This is what users discuss: Do the main battery pre heat when you start the climate system only when plugged to charger? And when you navigate to a charging station? Is there any other way to manually start the pre heating? Looking forward to a clarification of the issue. In advance, thanks 🙏
Hey veggis, it’s just linked to the climate control system like an engine would be 🤓 So if you use the pre-entry climate control it will auto condition it to the right temperate, however you can’t adjust the heating / cooling component on the battery directly
Hello Nick thanks for all the tips. However I turned off the keyless go and now my driver door won't open but all the other doors do. The button on the handle will work but it won't recognize the key-fob when I walk up and just try and open the door.. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it
Hello! I have a question for you regarding the spare key. I want to go surfing and I don’t want to go with the main key to the water. Is it possible to close all the car using the manual spare key? I try it but it closes only the driver’s door.
I have a 2023 E400d have been unable to deactivate the key as you have described. I have approached the local Mercedes dealer, they have said its not possible on the latest keys because it has a built in motion sensor. When its idle for 4 minutes it deactivates when it detects movement it activates again. This seems to be a retregrade step, Is there anyway the key can be altered so it can be deactivated as described in the video. Thanks
On the new cars 4:14 onwards on this video is how you do it. Hold lock and immediately at the same time press unlock twice in quick succession. I don’t believe and am not aware there’s a 3rd way But yes keys to deactivate after a few mins which is pretty cool! I still keep mine in a faraday pouch just in case.
Hello Nick. Thanks for your very informative videos. Do you have at way to tell the key that it shall open the car with your personal profile. It should be possible, but with my new Glc 400e it seemes that the possibility is not there under setting of your profile.🤔
Hi, thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks. I tried the tip and track holding down lock and unlock four6 seconds on my 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE and for some reason it does not work all doors unlock when I walk up to the car, is there a way to change this to just the drivers door for safety concerns thanks
Thank you! As far as I’m aware, the key for a 2024 would be the same. I haven’t seen or been told it’s changed. share.icloud.com/photos/0834i7fLIZ9E3ABWX6hQdMLGg
Excellent vid as usual Nick, much appreciated. On the mercedes me app can you change your reg to the current one on your car i.e. you've bought a private number and want to change it on the app, is this possible?
Hi Nick, I have a slightly different problem - My car is parked about 3 houses away and I can open the boot by accident when the keys are in my pocket! And it's not the motorised one, so I have to go to the car to close it. Is there a way to reduce the range of the key fob sensor?
Yes if the button is held for any length of time that would open the boot (no distance limitations I believe) Sadly no not seen any manufacturer offer that before. Certainly not seen any settings to change that. I have heard a rumour that Mercedes can reprogram the key so it requires two clicks but I don’t know how official that is. You’ll have to ask them, it might help you in that situation. As I said, I don’t know for sure but it could be something they offer. I heard about it on a few comments on the internet sometime ago.
Thank you nick!. Always find your videos are very useful!. Nick could I please ask you a question, I am considering buying a car one is 2018 E400 Cabriolet and one is 2019 E450 Cabriolet. The steering wheels of those two cars look very different. What are the main differences between say 2018 E400 and 2019 E450 infotainment and the driver display screen functions. Sorry for trouble and thanks in advance for your answer.
Is that through the Mercedes-Benz app? I’ve made a video on that before on my channel although I would like to make a newer one so keep an eye out! Is that what you meant with the app? 🤓
On some models that’s how you can turn off the keyless entry, for leaving animals in the car, that’s where you’ll need to turn the alarm off: ua-cam.com/video/UDh5O64bH_8/v-deo.htmlsi=KKgeYSNypoUvLRbv
2023 and I can't believe that Mercedes is still not linking keys to driver profiles. With just about every couple they each use their own key, so this is perfect to decide who is driving the car. A lot of other manufacturers have had this for years, but Mercedes just remains stubborn. Same goes for driving options (Dynamic Select, Lane Assist, etc) which are also profile/driver independent. Bloody annoying.
Ah it’s because Mercedes wanted to appeal to more owners and drivers. With keys, you’re limited to two user’s settings. But with profiles you can go up to 6 or 7 users.
In one video you mentioned there is a motion sensor in the key and if the key was completely stationary, after a few minutes in automatically switched off until in was moved again. Does this feature still remain in the newer keys? Thank you.
Love your channel as I'm a mercedes fan. Can you please do a review C300 hybrid as you promised earlier. I have ordered one and am very excited for the delivery.
Hey 67 maverick! Thank you! Absolutely, I still have it in my list! Got pages of ideas and suggestions! But sadly I’ve not seen one yet to make a video!
Thank you for your answer. Looking forward to your review. Thanks again for what you do. Well filmed, pedagogically done, and that you are a very good presenter. Regards from Sweden
@@npoleary i just got a Mercedes with the newer systems compared to my old vehicle and your videos have become my go to place to find out any questions i have about it. Very helpful. Thanks 👍
Hmm that does sound strange, I’d suggest reaching out to a dealer or a mechanic so they can check it out for you. I’ve not seen anything in Mercedes car menus for adjusting key settings or anything. Modern keys should switch off after a few minutes so maybe it’s not switching off? You’ll have to reach out to their staff at their dealers and see what they say. Hope you get it sorted!
@@npoleary Nick you kind man....many thanks for the advice...the batteries are running out faster than Usain Bolt....becoming laughably absurd...I shall call my local dealership today...keep up the great work 👍
Hi Nick, thank you for your videos, a huge insight for someone that was always a German car enthusiast, but more from Munique than Stuttgart, and that finally moved to Mercedes. I need your help, since I'm starting to doubt my eyes. Two days ago I was arriving to my new Mercedes Class E 300 de Estate (October 2019) I've touched the remote control and... the charging port just opened. I was surprised, but since I'm new to Mercedes I was convinced this was normal, except that I don't seem to be able to replicate it or find any info online. Can you sort it out, was this a strange fluke, or ... can you help me out please?
Oh really? Not heard of that before unless it’s different elsewhere on other countries (specs etc) Maybe the flap wasn’t completely locked and the locking pin hadn’t shut properly or there could have been a bit of debris there or something…
@@npoleary Nick, how very insecure, would have expected the engine to stop when you select forward or reverse. Very surprised at this weakness have had Mercedes continually since 1992, although all previous ones required the key inserting to start and run, hence the key was always in the car. Many thanks for your quick reply - Peter
Hey Peter, I think it’s more of safety issue, you wouldn’t want to pull out into a road with fast moving traffic and then the car just stops on you. If the door is closed without a key, a continuous alarm rings so you’d then not drive off hopefully!
Hi Nick I have a new 23 gla 4matic, appreciate all your videos very much but I have a strange issue I don't understand with the windows. Occasionally they are dropping or not closing fully, all together so prob no a problem.i also saw message about windows and ventilation. Is there some feature where windows decide to open slightly for some reason?
Oh strange, not heard of that before Only thing I can suggest, just make sure the key unlock button isn’t being pressed in the pocket or something. Other than that I’d suggest reaching out to Mercedes and they can check it out for you 🙏
Hi Nick, great video as usual thanks again, I’m having a problem with wireless charging on my 71 GLE just received my new iPhone 14, when you place it on the charging pad it brings up Apple Pay and won’t charge the phone, is there a work around for this or is anyone else experiencing this problem maybe it’s my phone, my previous iPhone 11 works fine cheers.
Nice. My car has always had the ability to open or close the windows when holding down the unlock/lock button, however it has stopped doing this. Is there a setup function on the MBUX that I need to reset?
Hey John thank you! No there aren’t any settings for MBUX, I’d just double check your battery in the key. That’s the most likely thing! ua-cam.com/video/o2ZSzJVTWDI/v-deo.html
Hey Nick, if I remember correctly I thought you once mentioned something about wireless android auto with some sort of third party accessory. It would be nice to have a video (or some more explanation )on that.
Hey stef, yes I mentioned about Wireless Apple CarPlay, I’m working on that one soon. Android Auto is a bit tricky, I’m aiming to do an Android Auto video soon so watch this space!
hello questions on 4:14 switch key off: - by doing this, the key no longer sending out RF signals hence there's no need to use a magnetic pouch to block RF signal from car thieves? - is this also the way to turn off spare key so that it won't drain its battery when it's never used? Thanks
Both 🤓 Although for the max security I would still use any protection you can for a new car. They can be a target for criminals, so an extra £10-£20 for a faraday pouch would never hurt anyone.
Hi Nick, When I first bought my year 2022 EQB from the dealership, the tire pressure was 44 PSI and now is 38 PSI. Both tire pressure Mercedes me connect app shows that the " pressure is within normal range ", but that is a big difference, should I change the tire pressure and add back to 44 PSI ? Also, can I use the manual XN - P010 wireless mini air pump bought from Amazon ? I used it for gasoline vehicle before, but I wonder if it can be used for electric vehicles to increase tire pressure ? Many thanks !!
Hey Love Lee, just double check the tyre pressures on the charger flap on the side of your car 🤓 they’re tailored to each model. Yeah you should be able to, as long as it can go up to those PSI’s, I guess it depends how powerful it is
Hi Sir. Once I pretended to leave keys inside and lock doors Mercedes glc 300 allowed me do so without any alarm bieep beep beep?? Crazy right and not smart or I must learn how to use setting? Thank you
Hi nick. I managed to start my car roll down the window press the lock button next to driver seat and roll it up again just to warm up the car because I live in cold country but then the car won’t open which cause me to use the key and remove the hand cap from out and open the car manually. Any idea how to use the key without having to go through all this process? Thanks a lot and as always you’re the Mercedes doctor 😅
Hey Lars, oh no I wouldn’t do that! That sounds complicated. Sadly it’s not something that Mercedes have in their process of leaving a car’s engine running unattended. I guess you could do it that way the way you’ve been doing but it’s a lot of work from the sounds of it!
Hi Nick I tried locking with the key driver side door to open only but with this new key 2023 you can’t be close to the doors then it will not work you have to be away from the door for it to work
Sadly not in the UK It depends where you live, some countries allow it but some don’t. But chat with Mercedes if you’re based elsewhere and they can let you know!
With the key lock, will this prevent the boot button from working? or will pressing this re-activate the key? Sick of my boot opening when I accidentally lean on the button :D
In the winter to warm the vehicle i have to let it run for some time (i have start stop push button) but I can't lock my doors with keyfob is there a way I dont know yet?.
Hello Nick, I recently purchased a Mercedes EQB 300 and I was very surprised that their is no keyless entry feature on the door handle. Does that mean that my car does not have keyless entry or is there a trick I don't know about?? Please help :)
That depends on the spec you chose so really sorry I wouldn’t know what that is. If you’re based in the UK, Mercedes have Premium and Premium Plus Packages where you’ll find gadgets (things like keyless entry, sunroofs, tech on the inside of the car). It’ll most likely have keyless start but it also depends what package was selected (if any) from new. If you’re not based in the UK (sorry hard to tell on UA-cam comments) then specs will vary massively, Premium / Premium Plus packages might not exist at all! They might be called something else
Possibly change the battery, sometimes if it’s low, it might not be low enough to trigger a warning but light impact keyless entry functions etc If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend speaking with Mercedes, they might be able to get a technician to take a look
Thank you! No sadly not from the key from a distance :( Only cars with auxiliary heating can heat / cool remotely such as electric cars or plug-in hybrids
Hey Camille, really sorry I wouldn’t know. That feature doesn’t exist here in the UK :( I guess so when it turns back on it can track which key turned it on or something like that
Nick has this sequence changed yet again to switch off ‘keyless go’ ? I have a new GLC (Aug 2024) oval key, and neither process seems to work, in fact I can’t get it to light up at all ! To be able to switch it off is also handy for ‘anti theft’ …..electronic code grabbers!?!? I’ve taken to using a Faraday pouch to keep my key in 🤷♂️
I don’t believe so? There’s only two procedures that I know of. The keys switch off automatically after a short while anyway but no harm in using a faraday pouch. I have the exact same at home just in case.
I wondered if it was anything to do with the ‘digital key sharing’…. Which I haven’t activated which enables the key to be switched on and off remotely … this might mean that a manual switching on/off is no longer an option 🤷♂️
@@npoleary the only way I can deactivate it seems to be via the ‘digital key’ handover process on the app….. question: having deactivated and secreted the spare key in the vehicle for a future situation that could occur, do you think the deactivated key could be vulnerable to electronic devices as it’s no longer safely in its Faraday pouch ?? It does seem a ‘little’ concerning 😁🙄
I’ve got a GLC Coupe on test at the moment and the key deactivation is exactly the same as the new method. For one the key turns off after a few minutes of inactivity anyway. And if you want to turn it off for cleaning etc it works the same way. Hold lock and immediately press unlock twice very quickly while holding lock. You have to be very quick. share.icloud.com/photos/00eQwD-zgtK0B7y_udMKf-Gog I looked into purchasing a key reading device for research and they are very expensive. Not to mention I’d probably have police turn up at my door 😂
I'm glad you mentioned how to disable keyless entry. The dealer never tells you about that. I've had 7 different Mercedes and never been told. Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Ah awesome! No worries! Glad you figured it out! 🤓

How’s it work on a 2016 GLE with old style key. I have start button but a key that looks like it needs to be put in the ignition
Just press lock twice to turn off keyless entry (if you have it)
With the previous style GLE you can actually take the button out by pulling it and use the key the old fashioned way! 🤓

I just purchased one and its great. Not as sporty as my Jaguar but i still like it!
One issue I've had is I can't seem to get access to the key battery of my A-Class AMG 2020 Premium Plus. I've watched your separate video on changing battery, but just can't get into the key (or the spare!)
Thanks David, it can be a little tricky but if you get stuck, just ask Mercedes and they’ll do it for you 👍🏼
The part about the NFC is pretty useful!😊
Hi Nick followed your instructions on deactivating key as it was driving me nuts when washing my EQA Mercedes which is the new key type but it would not work.
I went to the main dealer who walked over to my car and just pressed the top button which is lock twice and it works.
So it’s the same as the old type key but the lock is at the top where as the old key ( I think ) is at the bottom.
Also he told me if you disable key there is no need to put it in a faraday pouch.
But I still do both just to be safe.
Love the videos by the way.
Sadly there’s no way to tell what version the key is :(
So I’d suggest always the first method and then if that doesn’t work, try the second.
The easiest way I found is making playlists, so if you have an EQC, this playlist with MBUX would be good for you 🤓
Should cover 90% of the stuff 👍🏼

My son did the window trick while we walked towards my 23 GLS450, I didn’t know how he did it until I tried it a few days later. Very nifty
Lovely .. as always .. I thought I knew it all .. and ended up being schooled once again .. keep up the good work Nick !
Thanks Mark!
the "2 press lock button" worked to disable keyless go for my NA 2020 GLE . Really nice to stop that man in the middle theft technique.
Also the dead key in the cupholder is necessary now because mercedes eliminated the pop out start button. That allowed you to insert the key in the normal/old ignition slot and it would work with a dead key battery.
Nice one Nick thanks for that. Who knew the keys could do so much apart from opening and locking your car 😉
There is just one more thing Nick. You really ought to put a donation button on your pages.
Thanks Women’s Boxing Channel! I did enable it a few months ago 🤓
At the bottom of the video it’s called Super Thanks 🙏
5:07 Thanks for the tip about switching off the keyless go. It is driving me crazy when I wash my car🚗
hahahah. I feel ya,mine go crazy when i shower her...
If you put your key in the car then wash, you won’t see troubles any more! Just my 2c.
You can do that but just go careful if it’s close to the door like in the door pocket, there could be a situation where it’ll think the key is outside of the car and then let you lock it.
Then after a minute or two due to no movement the key will switch off! So go careful!
What I hate about this car is that instead of mercedes telling us all these tricks we car owners have to look for solutions here ourselves.
😂😂😂😂😂 am just stucked with my GLB
You'd never leave the showroom, and despite the manual being informative, I'd rater watch Nick's videos. It's great that Mercedes encourage these videos unlike so many other prestige models.
@karenclarke4292 Awh thank you! Been filming some more recently so watch this space! 🙏
I’m grateful they continue to let me film as I do it full time now.
I rather watch the UA-cam videos
I just picked up my new E300 cheers for the great tips.
Ooo very nice! 👌🏼
Clever. Quite clever. So clever.
Hey Nick,
I have a new GLC 300 Coupe .
Great video Nick!
Simply can't bear (*beat) Mercedes-Benz when it comes to innovative inclusions... Too good...
You can’t bear them?
Yesss 💕 love these vids … I feel like I purchased a spy vehicle 😂😂 and Nick is our “Nick Fury”
Haha thank you!
I’m defo nowhere near as cool as Nick Fury 😅
@@akrikaakrika1474 I meant *beat them... Lol
I actually have that exact CLA you showed in the video for the keyless entry. And I also had the issue of trying to figure out how to disable the feature. Thanks alot :)
Nick: Outstanding video.
Thank you! 🙏
Great video, very helpful... I don't even know how to drive but I like these lol
I was wondering how to take that cap off. Thanks muuchly
I hadn't linked the ventilated seat being on after dropping the top to using that 2nd tip. Obvious now you mention it 🤓
What is this tip about? I missed it.
When you open the roof on a convertible, if a car has it and on a hot day it’ll put the ventilated seats on
Excellent and informative 👍
Is there any way to open only the windows without the sunroof?
Thanks again Nick.... 👍
Great video thanks! I was wondering what that key thing is ... Now I know! cool thanks!!
Hi Nick, great video as usual thanks again
Hi Nick, I’ve been watching your videos and been learning so much! Would you be able to do a short on how to switch off keyless go the new way? I’ve read the manual as well and I just can’t get it to work.
I got the duplicate key to turn off the old way, but this other key is being stubborn!
Great video Nick. One orher question, i don’t really inderstand digital key handover. Also i have tried to to it and always get an error message. Maybe in a future video you can walk us through
I am hoping to cover it in the future (probably later in the year) 🤓
It’s on my list though!
Thank you!
I think from memory it’ll be somewhere along the lines of
HOME
SYSTEM
RESET
Then tap YES and then YES
You're the One, bro!
Wow, you were lucky to have escaped that car-jackb attempt.
I just got my 1st Merc..E220D Coupe omg im in love😂❤❤❤❤
Useful as usual...thanks @Nick!
They actually cover it on a Mercedes service each year so you don’t need to worry 👍🏼
@@highlymedicated2438 🫡thanks for the information!
Hello, my question is:
"If I turn off the keyless-entry mode of my fob so that locking/unlocking my car requires me to press the lock/unlock button (instead of just touching the outer/inner side of the door handle), will I still be able to start/stop the engine by pressing the Start/Stop ignition button (especially for current/recent models that the fob can't be inserted into the ignition key port)?"
Thanks.
Yes if you unlock the car it turns the key back on so the button will work as normal 😊
Hi Nick , thanks for your video. I tried what you said on video about how to disable the keyless go function on my w177 / 2022 , but it doesn’t work! Any idea?
You have to press the buttons very quickly! It’ll either be the previous way or the new way though 🤓
Thanks for the video. Would you have any info on integration with apple car key or any type of digital keys ?
Thank you!
Sadly it’s not supported by Mercedes :(
If they ever do in the future, I’ll be sure to let everyone know!
Thanks for reply. I have seen that there are some sort of digital keys.
There’s a thing called Digital Key handover but it basically lets you share your car with other people by leaving a key securely in the car.
I haven’t covered it yet but I plan to this year 🤓
Great, really keen to see how this feature works.
Hi Nick I guess another option to gain emergency access in the event the key battery is flat, would be to use the App and remote access? Ken
Yeah you could do if….
The car has charge in it’s battery
And
You have a valid subscription to the Mercedes me app
And another I just thought of, if you have signal too (the car having signal to carry out the unlock command with mobile reception)
❤❤ HELLO NICK ❤❤
Hi All, I have a question regarding how to manually TUNING the FM to a specific frequency. I been asking over 100 ppl included Benz dealer in Los Angeles here no one know the answer
I have a tablet would like to broadcast the Sound playing on my W167 GLE speakers. I have tired to type 88.2 on SEARCH bar also couldn't
May I know how to TUNE IN to our specific frequency on W167 GLE MBUX? Big thanks for helping ❤❤❤❤
Hey CryptoWhale007, I’ve not ever manually tuned the radio before but I have seen it. You can press the search button to manually type something in.
If you can’t type in a specific number I would presume it’s not available or something, it’ll only tune to what the antenna’s will allow.
Can you not change the frequency that your tablet outputs?
Great video Nick did not know all that about the key
Thank you! Yeah I know there’s loads of hidden features! 👍🏼
Thank you for fast reply 👍
Yes, that is the way I solve it.
@@npoleary Norway EQC owners has not found an accurate answer how the pre heat the battery during the winter. This is what users discuss:
Do the main battery pre heat when you start the climate system only when plugged to charger? And when you navigate to a charging station? Is there any other way to manually start the pre heating?
Looking forward to a clarification of the issue.
In advance, thanks 🙏
Hey veggis, it’s just linked to the climate control system like an engine would be 🤓
So if you use the pre-entry climate control it will auto condition it to the right temperate, however you can’t adjust the heating / cooling component on the battery directly
Your the man !!! great Info can't wait for more 💪💪👍🏻👍🏻
Hello Nick thanks for all the tips. However I turned off the keyless go and now my driver door won't open but all the other doors do. The button on the handle will work but it won't recognize the key-fob when I walk up and just try and open the door.. I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it
Sounds like you’ve changed to Driver’s Door only Unlock
Just hold unlock and lock for about 6-8 seconds and it’ll put it back
Hello! I have a question for you regarding the spare key. I want to go surfing and I don’t want to go with the main key to the water. Is it possible to close all the car using the manual spare key? I try it but it closes only the driver’s door.
No sadly that manual key is just for the main door, it serves as an emergency entry to the car if the battery is flat.
I don’t believe and am not aware there’s a 3rd way
But yes keys to deactivate after a few mins which is pretty cool!
No sadly keys are generic you just select your name on the screen when you get in 👍🏼
Works the same way as mine 😎
Hi, thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks. I tried the tip and track holding down lock and unlock four6 seconds on my 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE and for some reason it does not work all doors unlock when I walk up to the car, is there a way to change this to just the drivers door for safety concerns thanks

Hi Nick, I have a slightly different problem - My car is parked about 3 houses away and I can open the boot by accident when the keys are in my pocket! And it's not the motorised one, so I have to go to the car to close it. Is there a way to reduce the range of the key fob sensor?
Yes if the button is held for any length of time that would open the boot (no distance limitations I believe)
Sadly no not seen any manufacturer offer that before.
Very cool! 🤘😎 Thanx

Ah I’ve covered the Trip Computers here: ua-cam.com/video/Gfxg3rMsvTE/v-deo.html
And the instrument cluster here: ua-cam.com/video/wRlJ8DEri8o/v-deo.html
Is there a way to change the trunk/boot open button to double click rather than 1 long click?
Sadly no
There aren’t any settings to change the boot button are far as I’ve seen 🙁
Can you discuss how one can purchase or rent different options, please?
Is that through the Mercedes-Benz app? I’ve made a video on that before on my channel although I would like to make a newer one so keep an eye out! Is that what you meant with the app? 🤓
I have misplaced one of the two keys for my W211. Where can I get a replacement at a reasonable price?
I would presume from Mercedes although I don’t know how much they charge, you’ll have to ask them. Sorry I’ve never needed to order a key for myself
When you lock the car ( GLC) Do you have to press the key twice ? Also if I want to leave my dogs in the car do I just press the key once ?
Thank you sooo much. My back window wouldn’t go up.
Wonderful
In one video you mentioned there is a motion sensor in the key and if the key was completely stationary, after a few minutes in automatically switched off until in was moved again. Does this feature still remain in the newer keys? Thank you.
Hey Godder z, yes all new style keys have this feature. Saves the battery and helps prevent thefts!
Is there a certain distance you have to be at to enable the window roll up/down option?
Just a few meters I’ve noticed, won’t work past that
@@npoleary thanks! That’s what I’ve noticed so far. Just making sure it wasn’t just me.

Hi Nick: 2018 AMG cabriolet C200...my key fob batteries running out so fast....i think batteries are not the problem...any advice ? many thanks

Oh really? Not heard of that before unless it’s different elsewhere on other countries (specs etc)
Maybe the flap wasn’t completely locked and the locking pin hadn’t shut properly or there could have been a bit of debris there or something…
On keyless go with the engine running, does the key have to be in the car to be able to drive it away?
No it’ll still drive but you’ll have a continuous binging sound on the inside reminding you 🤓
@@npoleary Nick, how very insecure, would have expected the engine to stop when you select forward or reverse. Hey Peter, I think it’s more of safety issue, you wouldn’t want to pull out into a road with fast moving traffic and then the car just stops on you.
If the door is closed without a key, a continuous alarm rings so you’d then not drive off hopefully!

The power left on your battery is not enough to perform that operation. Change your key fob battery it should start to work again.

No worries! 🤓
Android Auto is a bit tricky, I’m aiming to do an Android Auto video soon so watch this space!
hello questions on 4:14 switch key off:
- by doing this, the key no longer sending out RF signals hence there's no need to use a magnetic pouch to block RF signal from car thieves?
- is this also the way to turn off spare key so that it won't drain its battery when it's never used?
Thanks
Both 🤓
Although for the max security I would still use any protection you can for a new car. They can be a target for criminals, so an extra £10-£20 for a faraday pouch would never hurt anyone.
Hi Nick,
When I first bought my year 2022 EQB from the dealership, the tire pressure was 44 PSI and now is 38 PSI.
Thank you
Was this with keyless or were you sat in the car with the keys? 🤓
Hi Nick I tried locking with the key driver side door to open only but with this new key 2023 you can’t be close to the doors then it will not work you have to be away from the door for it to work
Hi Nick! Is it possible to remote start a 2018 w205 c300 facelift without Mercedes me app?
Sadly not in the UK
It depends where you live, some countries allow it but some don’t. But chat with Mercedes if you’re based elsewhere and they can let you know!
Sorry mate. I have to ask : do you know if the cla has the engine interior sound ? And is also on the amg>line < models
I have heard it in some cars before but only in Sport mode, if you contact Mercedes they should be able to let you know via their spec sheets 🤓
With the key lock, will this prevent the boot button from working? or will pressing this re-activate the key? Sick of my boot opening when I accidentally lean on the button :D
No sadly boot is always live, in fact all buttons are always live. Turning the key off will just turn off Keyless.
In the winter to warm the vehicle i have to let it run for some time (i have start stop push button) but I can't lock my doors with keyfob is there a way I dont know yet?.
No I don’t believe you can lock from the outside when the engine’s on as it deactivates the key.
At least that’s what happens in mine

That depends on the spec you chose so really sorry I wouldn’t know what that is. If you’re based in the UK, Mercedes have Premium and Premium Plus Packages where you’ll find gadgets (things like keyless entry, sunroofs, tech on the inside of the car).
It’ll most likely have keyless start but it also depends what package was selected (if any) from new.
If you’re not based in the UK (sorry hard to tell on UA-cam comments) then specs will vary massively, Premium / Premium Plus packages might not exist at all! They might be called something else
Hi Nick,
Had a problem with the keyless entry ( locking and unlocking) not working all the time. Am I missing something?
Possibly change the battery, sometimes if it’s low, it might not be low enough to trigger a warning but light impact keyless entry functions etc
If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend speaking with Mercedes, they might be able to get a technician to take a look
Can you please tell me how to activate the walk away lock on my EQC 400 4M
There is no walk away lock on any Mercedes. You have to lock it using the key or if you have it Keyless entry on the handle.
Nice work mate. Quick one, can you start your c63s facelift with the key?
Thank you!
No sadly not from the key from a distance :(
Only cars with auxiliary heating can heat / cool remotely such as electric cars or plug-in hybrids
@@npoleary I thought so, thanks for confirming. I'm going to sandown Guilford for a few Brabus upgrades when they land, can't wait.
Hey Nick, do you know why the car shuts off after you open the door when it was remotely started from the app?
Hey Camille, really sorry I wouldn’t know. That feature doesn’t exist here in the UK :(
I guess so when it turns back on it can track which key turned it on or something like that
Nick has this sequence changed yet again to switch off ‘keyless go’ ?
Possibly? But I’m sure the light still worked when I tried that feature out
@@npoleary the only way I can deactivate it seems to be via the ‘digital key’ handover process on the app….. question: having deactivated and secreted the spare key in the vehicle for a future situation that could occur, do you think the deactivated key could be vulnerable to electronic devices as it’s no longer safely in its Faraday pouch ??
It does seem a ‘little’ concerning 😁🙄
I’ve got a GLC Coupe on test at the moment and the key deactivation is exactly the same as the new method.
For one the key turns off after a few minutes of inactivity anyway. And if you want to turn it off for cleaning etc it works the same way.
Hold lock and immediately press unlock twice very quickly while holding lock. You have to be very quick.

I looked into purchasing a key reading device for research and they are very expensive. Not to mention I’d probably have police turn up at my door 😂
