    Great video. I was told my minelab 1000 and GPZ-7000 had too high a frequency and our NV silver too small to find it here. Glad to see you used that 4500 with no problems.

    Silver has best conductivity so it gives the highest signal of all metals.

    Little hard on the Dungarees, eh? And, I was wondering how is silver ore is first processed? Is it done like coal? Crushed in a rotary breaker or similar, then sent through a wash plant to sort out with a jig and cyclones by specific gravity. Or, some other mechanical magic.

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  4 роки тому

      Each plant is probably a bit different depending on the age and rock being processed. All of them now crush to a powder and then extract chemically.

      In a way, it is too bad that you did not get up there in May. I had room in the trailer, so you would have had a place to stay. On the other hand, the rain was a downer and bugs were pretty bad. I actually left a day early because of the bugs and it got no better when I stopped to check out places on the way back. They should start clearing up soon (I hope).

      I have since changed cameras. In this video, it was a $2,000 Canon DSLR. I think is was the same camera that they filmed Breaking Bad, but those guys obviously knew more about photography than me. It did not have autofocus and I constantly struggled with that...Not for lack of trying. It also was affected by the weather and on this trip I lost some really good video due to fogging inside the camera body. I have switched up to a lower priced and newer model of camera plus a new GoPro, that does auto focus and hopefully will make better video.

    Hey, I was just going back through your videos looking for this particular spot! I was wondering which mine this pile of tailings is at? the fine tailings would be easiest for me to detect at and move with my old detector I got. if you don't wanna share your secret spot I understand lol

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 років тому +1

      I have no idea how to direct someone to x marks the spot, without it sounding like a "snipe hunt". Best I can say is drive as far as your vehicle will allow on the road beside Pete Lake, then walk a bit further on what is now an ATV trail and then walk almost to the top of Nip Hill, keeping the new fence (about half way up) on your left. At the last set of tailings (beyond that is just washed rock) walk directly away from the fence (fence at your back) along the tailings. You will know you are in the spot because there is an ore cart at the bottom. Or make friends with Ty and he might show you.

      I hear ya. It always "depends on the wife". LOL For me, it will also depend on the weather. I won't go if the prediction is heavy rain everyday. The caution I will give for that spot, is that hillside can get really slippery when wet. Good luck.

    @johnsheppard1476 5 років тому

    Well,nice finds really!
    So I am wondering if you have supposedly a lot of silver ore and as I know the silver ore is a source of some PGMs-mostly palladium(on my opinion it is the most useless of all PGMs but it is still good thing to sell if you have a lot)-and also where you have silver you have gold as a by-product!So what do you think about that?I just would definitely have extracted all that stuff from these rocks beginning with silver and than also would have tried to separate gold and palladium from them(if I was you)!
    Yes,maybe I would even have done that by simply melting all the silver so it will come out and then both checked the remaining rocks and also the molten away silver for traces of gold,palladium and PGMs;purified silver using nitric acid and silver chloride method(I anyway like that shit because it is really fast and easy in compare to all the other precious metals refining process)-and mainly would be looking at the difference between the weight of silver molten from ore before putting into nitric and weight of the refined silver smelted from silver chloride-and so I would have known by the colour of remaining solution if it is copper or palladium in there(palladium always gives yellow to brown coloration)..And if there is palladium I would just precipitate it either with DMG or with simple ammonium chloride..
    So what do you think about that?)

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 років тому

      I had some rocks checked using XRF and the gold content was typically below 2% but sometimes the PGMs were double digit. I had one rock that was 50% PGM and I forgot where I found it. Still bugs me. The original miners only took the silver. They did not see gold in the rocks. They had no interest in PGMs.

    • @johnsheppard1476
      @johnsheppard1476 5 років тому

      @@meMiner yes,I remember you mentioned that rock-really insanely cool find!I think that it should be worth many dozens of thousands of dollars and maybe up to hundred thousands!If we presume that it is 1100-1200 grams of platinum or palladium-it is already 40-50 thousand bucks just in market price and even more than that if in any kind of things made out of it!
      So anyway it's at least some gold and PGM content in there which is definitely worth recovering if you have a lot of ore!As I remember 1 gram per kilogram of rock is considered to be ultra high grade ore in Russia at least and for platinum or PGMs it's considered to be unimaginably high grade ore worldwide if there is 1 gram of PGMs per kilogram and so it's worth recovery!

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 років тому

      The people who talk about grams per ton are looking for a large deposit for a mine. For a collector or small scale refining, you need really high grade stuff. The refiner with the XRF that I used was interested only if I have 1000 lbs or similar ore.

    • @johnsheppard1476
      @johnsheppard1476 5 років тому

      @@meMiner I guess for me that would not have been such an issue-also besides I need those metals for prototypes..Which I anyway will leave for myself so spending maximum of couple hundred grams won't be in vain😎🤠Plus it will prove the new concept to be possible to build and so as the use of the prototype will not(at least by first stage tests results and also calculations)be thorn apart by the insanely strong propellent I intend to use!So the further production can simply shift to use more of less expensive materials with minimum of such things like iridosmine and also it will be another story..🤠
      By the way I now recently noticed in fact how dense,rigid and mainly frictionless the iridosmine is(exactly 90% Ir/10% Os-the stuff which I will use for barrel's lining)-just while playing with a blub made of it!No,really,looks and feels like a thing from another world-it is right around 10 grams(just easier to put together in terms of weighting and calculating)-but it is so tiny for 10 grams and also since it is almost a ball it is sometimes so hard to catch it because it is really very slippery-so the friction between bullet and barrel is really zero!
      So anyway I guess that it's worth extraction and also that the guy with XRF is really strange because 4% of 1000 lbs equals 40 lbs=18 kilograms!And that is around 0.18% of the entire country's annual PGM production!And also while 18 kg of raw PGMs sponge after separation has a minimum market value of 700 thousand dollars(Canadian)-and after processing it into something useable like crucibles,sputtering targets,rods and stuff it will be at least 4 to 5 times it's price which is around 3 million dollars-so I guess it should be worth a large effort!And if there is,say,100 lbs instead it is still 300 thousand bucks which is also not quite bad!
      And by the way about the PGM mining it is as I know almost entirely made like a by-products of nickel and copper mining and so the quantity is really low but here 4% is worth possibly hiring some Philippinian guys who will bring a plenty of material so that 40 kilograms per tonne will certainly be vastly worth it if they will bring that tonne per week-and this time it will be bringing a lot of money even for a large scale plants and companies🤔

      I am mostly a beach hunter here in a Maine USA. The equinox 800 is the best all-around machine I have ever used. The very small gold, silver, aluminum it picks up at quite A depth incredible. I had it was in the right machine when it came out. Now that this equinox 800 has come out it has surpassed 3030 ctx and Out perform it. You could eliminate The iron targets so you don’t have to pick them up anymore. The separation with that machine is incredible picking out iron targets surrounded with iron, works fantastic. It won’t take you long To learn this machine it is pretty straightforward. Good luck I enjoy your shows

      I enjoyed the 800 in Aruba and found some gold. I was surprised how easy it was to avoid iron with this machine. I thought I might find chains with it and dug lots of low signals, but alas there needs to be one to find for it to tell you to dig it. It will be interesting to try the 800 in the silver mines where there is lots of junk. A buddy used a 3030 and had some good finds, but I was able to get deeper with the Minelab GPX5000

      meMiner It does very well on the beach with small gold chains. Something that the 3030 could never do. I am anxious to hear the results of your test to see how well it works on silver mines. I do not know that much about the 5000 other than it is a Super Gold machine. I have heard someone around here Purchased one for the beaches and always have an excellent results on gold. If you don’t have it yet you need to go to mine lab website and get the instructional manual for the equinox. Here’s the address www.minelab.com/__files/f/326548/4901-0249-1%20Inst.%20Manual,%20EQUINOX%20600%20800%20EN.pdf
      It has a wealth of information in it on tuning your machine to get the optimum performance on what you are looking for. It is free and well worth to have a copy.
      Also if you have not found this guy yet. calabash digger check out all his videos on the equinox 800. He does lots of tests on different machines. He is very interesting to watch and learn how well the machine works and how to set it up. You will enjoy him.

    Do it at night maybe it will glow after reflect the light from torch. Crush it first then pan it like panning a gold. Just share my idea

      Thanks for the good ideas. I have tried both a torch and UV lights. Everything is shiny. As for panning or sluicing, it would work but is still more effective to have the detector tell me where the pieces of silver sit.

    Do you realize your detector says yes yes yes as you wave it over the silver. LOL I live in a gold Provence well gold and copper. North of my state they have silver and tin Provinces. I have some nice silver nuggets got off the surface.

      I never thought of it speaking English, but you are right, sometimes it does seem to say "yes". Me too. Do you have pictures or a video of your nuggets?

      I know where one nugget is I think. I swapped a few away. I had a bucket of Garnets once. I have a handful left and the same happened to my topaz. I let a bloke take some once only to discover he took every blue one in the bucket.

      The same happens to me all the time. I end up giving away too much. I love topaz, especially because I cannot find any. LOL

      hard yakka well i never found it myself either. I would see a tin dredge working so i would go over and ask themif i could clean the topas from their riffle boxes. I was never relfused. but later they realised that it was a comodity they could sell.

    Irritating detector sound,should turn off or lower it??? When not actively using equipment......

      Good feedback. I hear the noise all day when detecting, so am used to it. It is the threshold and I guess sounds like a mosquito in your ear. However, I am there to metal detect first and video a distant second. Remember that these are amature videos. I turn on the camera when it is handy and I think there is something interesting. The detector has an external speaker with a volume switch. It never occurred to me to turn it down. If I turn it down, I will have to remember to turn it back up. LOL I will keep your comment in mind next year.

      It has been replaced. That one could not handle the damp weather and was manual focus.
