Garrett explains that this album is predominantly about the various ways he pictures the world ending in the sense of rebirth so apocolyptic is a great adjective to describe the sounds and theme.
One of the best Metalcore albums ever made. Also, Steve, some of the lyrical call backs in this album for a long long time SP fan was on par to that of your reaction to Euclid. Great upload as always.
The first line of 'The New Eternity' gets me everytime. It's so in your face to prepare you for the subject matter this album dives into. I appreciate this album and Everything Was Sound for how they actually discuss world issues, of grand scale and also of the individual. I do think their later albums show growth musically, but I also don't feel like they have as much 'importance' and are more so for the music than the message. These albums will always be special to me and I'll always be a fan of Silent Planet. I wish more musicians would use their platforms to generate legitimate conversations about the world we live in.
I love silent planet and iridescent, but this will always be my favorite album from them. The lyrics are super deep and unique and make the drops hit way harder. The guitar work is fantastic and super under appreciated. Everything to love in a modern metalcore album imo I don’t think they will ever top this tbh.
The lyrics on this album are their best. In Absence and Firstborn still gives me goosebumps. Also I really love Thomas clean vocals, it sucks that he is no longer in the band. And the guitar work so technical, so intricate and almost always very weird based on their official tabs
It just shows how talented the band ar, that the their greatest attitude (and for me, what sets them apart from other metalcore bands) can be the least enjoyed part of the songs and their still seen as an amazing band.
I think that is the product of discovering the band’s recent work then going backward. Falling in love with their new sound means you may not be as inclined to the older sound, whereas older fans who fell in love with the older sound with the spoken word may not like the newer sound as much since it lacks that aspect. I came into Silent Planet during the Iridescent era, and while I do love the old albums, I tend to favor their newer sound (Iridescent and Superbloom)
This is one of their best works and my personal favorite. The only one to come close was Iridescent. But this one had a lot of great footnotes. But also still mant stories of pain and loss that Garrett wrote in inspiration of those who simply told him their stories. Firstborn is a song that brings me to tears every time. Kinda similar to First Father, it was inspired by his friends who lost their first born child early on and the lyrics represent the pain to that process. The line "Can't you see, you were supposed to be the one to bury ME" being from the parents' perspective. Its a very sad but lovely song for its emotion. And it wasn't the sole one either. Share the Body is about drug addiction and opioid pandemic. Garrett had spoken with a many former addicts getting their lives in order and every word they said he basically took to heart and with the footnotes and references to almost an impossibility of self control, he wrote the song. Vanity of Sleep also sits high up there for me because the lyrical genius behind "is there a cure for a sick society? So rich in the world, so in debt to ourselves, the network of life in such disconnect" Just resonates. He also references Chomsky in the beginning with the line of "manifested drudge of my mass manufactured consent", which sets up the entire song pretty well. I was working 12 an hour at my job when this album dropped and I had to get the CD. It and the long sleeves and goodies for the merch, all featured braille for the album name. ⠱⠢ ⠮ ⠢⠙ ⠆⠛⠁⠝ Idk if that was Garrett just being clever and cool or if it was signaling how blind mankind is to the clock of time and our demise. But I digress. Thank you for doing this album. Its S tier for me.

This is their best album as far as experimentation and sound variety. Was there for the release and I was so mesmerized by this project

Great reaction video, i had to take breaks with this one as I am a light mood! Very powerful sound.
One of my fav SP albums. Firstborn always gets me once you look up the background on the song.

It's so funny to me how Steve just really dislikes the spoken word-ish parts as that is one of my absolutely favorite things about SP. So powerful

@TuckerMorgan-i1h This is dead on.
It hurts my soul a little bit but even so, I'm glad he appreciates it
If you didn't know, Garrett has a Masters degree in psychology and Bachelors' in English and Philosophy. That's why he uses so many big words lol
@selenzr6339 he spent some time as a therapist for young people too so has ends up really down dark rabbit holes lyrically. See Nervosa for example.

Depths III is my favorite song of all time tbh
You need to hear the extended version of Firstborn from the Terminal Livestream
Northern Fires by far my favorite song by SP. The message and delivery of the message is incredible
Ooh yes I LOVE this one. Let's listen together Stevie!
share the body is probably still my favorite song in their discography so far.
