Mi first car is also this exact model. And I've always planned to lift it. It has some good torque in the hills so I wanted up. This video is amazing, future.
I like this way of lifting the front. I'm trying to lift my 4motion diesel and although the options for lifting one of those in the rear seems bleak by comparison, I think I've found a solution there while none of the alternatives up front really fits. I never really liked the idea of putting a spacer on top of the spring, and heavy duty ones are factory on my model, but this mod I like. Im not fully decided yet, but this was an interesting alternative. Thanks man!
If you do it use something with a thicker wall than that exhaust part I used. Turns out it did break when the wheel came off. Not exactly normal operating conditions, but still
@@THEFACILITY thank you for your reply. Yes I'm a bit concerned with the durability. Since I'm also replacing shocks, I thought I could butcher up something with parts from the old ones. The question is yet to be answered though, I like the idea of raising the spring plate away from the taller tyre. Appreciate your triumph build as well. Keep it up!👍
"There would be more video from inside the car, but apparently a certain passenger couldn't figure out how to point the camera or push the record button when it counts...Tom..." 🤣 poor Tom!
Lol, same thing almost happened to me with the wheel coming off!!! Thought it was a bearing, so imagine my surprise when I get out to check and notice the lugs almost falling out. #TooCloseForComfort
It started out downtown, but all the trails were up north. Still didn't look like they tried keeping trees from growing around the abandoned auto plants
@@THEFACILITY hey there im from canada and i think ur build is sik af can you plz send me the details of dimentions for front set up ie length of tube addition etc the way u did that was so fkn simple and thats the way im doin it and its mor than strong enough to take a beating

Also the electric fuel door release which quit working, the trunk release which quit working, the hood release with all its dinky little parts that broke, and the driver window that would go down some and then back up. But maybe that was just my car
Ну на вкус и цвет, смотря что нужно от машины, с размером колёс конечно перебор но вот увеличение дорожного просвета может быть довольно полезно у нас в повседневе
"Really scraping the bottom of the barrel for materials here, but I already went $6 over the suspension budget."
Brilliant 😂
This was one of the best automotive related videos I've seen on the 10+ years on this platform
This. This right here is the greatest thing I've watched all week.
This is the best thing I’ve watched all year.
Paint job over skid plate. My man knows his priorities.
"Still wont say i made the wrong Choice"
Dude this is a great idea for a old vdub. It’s different. Makes me wanna turn mine into a legit Baja Jetta with winch and all.
If you do it do a better job than I did
I love the commentary on this hahaha
This dry humor cracks me up. Great video man
"...so I made some more carcinogens and removed them"
Love your delivery. Keep up the mediocre work.
Your channel is the future...
When you said that bit about the wooden spacers is about the time I hit the like button.

Glad you all had such a good time... Awesome documentary!

all you needed was the "Panzer plate and full metal jacket."
And $200.00. :(
what year and model is that Triumph?
'72 Spitfire
Lol. That’s awesome. 👍🏼
Did that take place in downtown Detroit? Looks like the lawnmower gang let the saplings grow into full blown trees

Hmmm, should I destroy my 2015 Passat TDI. Lifted with heated seats, a 6sp manual and leather??? Maybe not. 😂
Just do it, honestly go out and buy a cheap car for 300 bucks and have fun with that
this is gloriuos!
Hey there can u post dimentions or send them to e mail ?
What dimensions are you looking for? I don't really have access to the car (it's at my parents' place) so I may or may not be able to help

Bonus points for using the worlds oldest tools 🤣
Bro , you look like MCA from the Beastie Boys!
That's a new one, I can see it
I bet the cops had a field day with you guys.
Only thing I hated about owning one was the freaking the lug BOLTS
