Two weeks ago I met Laura and Aaron, he said something to my husband and me “ I just make videos in my backyard!” It totally cracked us up that he’s so humble! They are a power couple, they’ve created this fantastic community of gardeners, created jobs for people, started their own business and do charity work and help out others around them. This is why I admire them so! I also admire their work ethic! Far too many people would rather sit around looking at their phones or whatever but Laura and Aaron get things DONE! I try to work harder because of my husband’s work ethic and Laura and Aaron inspire me to work harder and get things done, too! Thanks guys! We appreciate you ❤️
I agree with Laura 100% about the selling advertising. That is why I love your channels because you never say please subscribe, hit the like button etc. ❤ I tend to lose my interest when people begging and pushing to sell things. I appreciate you and Aaron for who you are. ❤
My Mom (she passed away in 1982 and I just turned 70) taught us kids to say Sugar or Fudge (5 letter words) instead of those 4 letter words. She said sweet words make disappoints easier to deal with. She was right.
When my kids were little, we had a wonderful neighbor who often used salty language. I gently asked her not to swear when around the kids. She invented, "Oh, broomsticks!" which was delightful. 😊
I very much appreciate that you don't want to be a shill for your store. I get so much enjoyment from this channel, but would unfollow if it turned into an infomercial. Thank you for your integrity and high standards in the way you operate.
Yes I appreciate that, too. It like they have these products available for the convenience of those people who are looking for them after seeing their value in the videos. Like , “Hey, where can I get one of those!”
The rational to the pot size is that if there is too much soil around the roots of a potted plant, the root don’t absorb that moisture and are more susceptible to root rot. In the ground the water can run off or through osmosis be absorbed in the soil much wider than the root zone with less possibility of root rot.
I think it’s a convenience for US, as your viewers, that you have a store that sells your favorite things because it’s like a one-stop-gardening-supply-shop! I don’t mind it a bit when you give a little statement that “we carry this in the store” because it makes shopping/searching all the easier for me! 😂
Laura and Aaron- I love how you talked about not wanting to make Garden Answer too “salesy”. Thank you. And the part about your garden hands filled with ground in dirt!!!! That reminds me of my British Grandma who always had hands like that. She and my mum would have loved watching your videos if they were still with us. Gardening runs deep in my family. My Great Uncles worked as royal gardeners at Buckingham Palace💙
Kudos to Taylor for the editing. Not only the rustoleum can (which I've seen several comments about) but I appreciated the call back to the earlier comment about picturing the team as older when you were responding to the request to edit out Laura's "bad word". The clever touches make watching the recaps that much more entertaining.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting the questions with a black background! I have vision issues & the black background is so much more pleasing to my eyes! Love your highlight channel. Always great questions and answers plus great (& sometimes humorous editing)! 🌻🍀
I have a couple that live inside in the winter but out they go when it’s warm, they do do better outside but I get them to pull through wintertime. Close attention is paid.
I plant some houseplants in a zip lock freezer bag before the pot. Cut off the zip top and put some holes in strategic spots for drainage and air flow. You can have an easy "liner" made precisely for the plant's needs.
She said ‘heck’ in this video, that and dang are about as close as she gets, lol. I am so glad she is not a habitual swearer. They are so annoying to listen to.
There are a few actually but none of them actual swear words - coming from me, an Australian who notices these things lol. I'm actually working on swearing less but using fun words 😂
Please keep the negative space around the benches!!! It is the perfect counterpoint to the abundance across the path and gives that soothing, peaceful vibe that only boxwoods and shade trees can bring! 🌳🌳🌳
I agree with you Laura! I’m turned off when content creators read off commercials. I didn’t know you get pressured to do that. I for one, am SO DARN HAPPY you feel averse to doing it ❤️ I didn’t realize it until just now, but the lack of that nonsense might be why YOUR channel is the one which always manages to lift my spirit and improve my day. Never change ☀️
I completely appreciate your approach to “selling stuff.” You provide a great service! I already owned a pair of Felco pruners but had no idea how to care for them until your videos. I recently bought a hoselink. What a game changer! I no longer grumble and curse (under my breath, of course ☺️) at the kinked, twisted hose! It is so smooth…I think I hear the angels singing! 😉😂 Thank you so much…I’m a big fan!
Laura, I am so with you. I have never been comfortable wearing gloves, hats, and socks. Just keep using your sunscreen. I am 79 years old now and still very active in my gardening
If considering a plant for under the four benches on the west side, may I suggest Elfin Thyme. It makes a great walkable ground cover, little water, no mowing, chokes out weeds and smells WONDERFUL when walked on. In full sun it will have tiny blooms but in shaded areas it grows well, just sans blooms. In other no-mow areas I've used micro-clovers, another no fuss ground cover which stays green longer and will bloom with tiny pin-point white flowers.
THANK YOU for selling what you do! I tried several of my local nurseries, looking for Kelated Iron. Nobody had it or they were trying to sell plant food that had Iron in it but it wasn't what I was looking for. Because you showed your warehouse and Aaron showed that you sold it, I was able to order it from you. I have a Red Oak tree that is 4 years old that is struggling with an Iron problem. I adore my trees so I make sure to feed them and make sure they are in great health and happy. My trees and I thank you so very much.
Angled cuts on roses away from bud nodes is more important in wetter climates. Keeps moisture away from newly emerging leaves and avoids the spread of mildew. 🌹🌹🌹
Love the idea of having the pond by the kitchen door after the Locas Tree comes out and incorporating the fire place area. Yes yes yes. Would be AWESOME
In this crazy world, you are my entertainment. I look forward to your videos everyday, no matter how short or long. I love gardening and continue to add new things to my garden. I like that more of my experiments are working, losing less plants. We do, here in Atlanta, need more sun to get the begonias full again. I keep adding new ones to fill out beds. No rain issues this year just need a few dry days and more sunshine.
I very seldom comment on your videos, but thought I would on this one. I planted the pink cashmere superbena this year in pots and they took over. They performed beautifully, but the 100 degree heat is taking its toll on them. Want to also let you know I watch your videos faithfully and have learned so much from you. Thank you Laura and Aaron. 😊
😂how often do you busy people actually have time to sit😂!?! You have a lot of space to work and those benches are lovely! They all create a gorgeous visual. Since I tried to really dive into my ‘yard upgrade ‘this year, I have appreciated your channel so much. It’s like a masterclass in all things yard beautiful.
I believe Taylor picks the questions. Laura had made a comment in a past recap that she doesn't even see the questions till the taping. Happy Gardening!
Great video. I smiled all the way through. You have a great channel and great help and that reflects how hard you work and that you are both good employers. I have enjoyed watching your videos for many years and hope you will be making them for many more. Thank you. Have a blessed day everyone.
Love watching your clips.. you two are just so encouraging and… your clip editor is such a great addition with his fun flashes of fun! Thanks again for starting my days so positive!!
Regarding the small houseplant pots .. that finish is super easy to recreate using spackle and a couple colors of chalk paint. Seal outside with matte spray sealer. Just play around and have fun. 😁
Girl Preach! I have watched UA-cam forever and have loved a lot of channels that have "sold their soul" for the almighty dollar. They even have Thank You posts for buying from their Amazon store etc.. You have remained a very wholesome focused channel. Anything you sell or promote makes sense to you and your channel. I enjoy the occasional antique shopping with your family because this channel is about your family and you seem to still be balancing wonderfully. Love from Dallas.
Oh I cringe for you when you mention having to redo the brick walkway by the kitchen entrance! All that you went through with having bare ground by the house waiting for it to go in. The West side turned out so beautiful. Hope the upcoming project gets done right for you. Love your gardens and all your projects.
Thanks for not asking people to like and subscribe. That bugs me to no end. To my knowledge you haven’t ever had to and it’s working just fine. I don’t mind you mentioning the store. I just ordered my kneeling pad 👏🏼 excited to get it.
I so appreciate that you have a store that is selling more than just shirts and hats. To have a place where you can go for all the tools that are trustworthy and work is just amazing! And to have it support you guys! That’s the best part ☺️ thank you for all your hard work and for sharing your journey with us!
Just watched your videos from 7-8 years ago. Loved the 4 part garden tour that took less than 45 minutes combined. My how times have changed-- now tours are 3-4 parts & nearly an hour each. You've come a long way guys!
Love your attitude about balancing job and marketing. We were in MI and picked 5 lbs of triple crown black berries. They are fabulous and love them with vanilla ice cream
I watch your videos like TV episodes and can't wait until the next day (have to say I watch old ones on Saturdays). Question - will you share your Blackberry Jam recipe? My blackberries are unbelievable this year (I used Berry-Tone). Please don't stop telling us that you have products on your website. When you use a product & tell us where we can get it easily, it is great! I order regularly and love the service. Finally, I love the editing inserts that Taylor uses! You have a great organization.
I planted 2 varieties of hardy hibiscus as my center show flowers in my front gardens this year & they are phenomenal!! I definitely plan to get more next year. The only downside is each bloom only lasts a day, but on the other hand there’s a ton of buds. Love love love them!
Laura I agree with you about channels that promote for money……it turns me off. I feel as if you are the only channel that doesn’t ask for likes and follows or trying to sell us something in the videos. You are by far the best “influencer” I watch! Thank you for showing us how to garden without ulterior motives. I believe this is why you are so successful! You all are the best!
Have you ever used water globes for your house plants? My neighbor finally talked me into to getting them and they are a game changer! You should get some for the upstairs plants.
I live in the south and always struggle with verbena too. They do so well here late spring/early summer, but they stop blooming for me once we get consistently hot around late June. It makes so much sense that they would like cooler nights. I’m giving up on them after this year 😂
You guys are so gracious! It never feels like you’re tying to sell us anything… other than the love of gardening. Your opening a “store” just seemed like a lovely way to make it easy for your viewers to get the items that you love and that we have all asked about over the years and it’s much appreciated. PS If you create a “Drip Tackle Box” would you please share it and what you chose and why? I think that would be super helpful for backyard gardeners.
Good Morning Laura and Aaron, I love your videos and watch them with my morning coffee. I was thinking maybe creeping thyme would look great under your benches on the West side.
Can I just say, that besides loving this channel for the gardening/inspiration/beauty, I just love love this family so much 🥰❤️🙏 Such a beautiful example of how to love and relate to each other ❤️🙌🙏
Such a fun video on a HOT, MUGGY, Sunday. I love the editing with Laura's expressions, and added little extras. I chuckle away! Oh, I wish I lived closer, would I LOVE to work for you! To be a part of your crew would be a dream. I also so appreciate that you don't push products, but focus on what you do...garden. I'm struggling with my lawn this year too. The heat and I think the drought last year has caused an explosion of crabgrass...GRRRRR. My superbena amethyst was glorious all summer, and now this week it has suddenly stopped blooming! I did give it a haircut, hoping it'll push new blooms again. It's the weirdest thing! I'm not surprised the kids love going by Grandma's. I would love to have her as a grandma too! It's good for you and Aaron to have alone time, and good for kids to spend special time with grandparents. Now that I've talked your ear off, I'll let you go to the Fair. Have a great time!!
Love the editing, love your approach on "selling", love the beekeeping idea. Another beautiful Sunday. Hope the fair was fun, I adore nostalgic things as well ❤
I appreciate that you promote what you use and what you like rather than creating a need for something just for the sale campaign. It’s a nuanced distinction but it shows that you are authentic in what you promote and sell.
I’m so happy you sell products. I have purchased multiple products from you. Plus, I like the fact I’m supporting a small business. Your customer service is excellent! I emailed your company about to inquire about my order and they responded to my email at real time.I hope you add additional items. I’m looking to buy garden apron that has a a couple of large pockets hint, hint.
I totally would love to volunteer or work for you both! Then you would have someone older than you☺️ You inspire me to be a better person! I have found gardening to be my grounding and relaxing therapy. Thank you for all you do❣️
Long time follower here. Absolutely love your channel. Years ago I happened to hear you mention moving this type video to a highlights channel otherwise I don’t know that I would’ve ever known about it. May I suggest that you reference this highlights channel on the main channel on occasion so the people who ask questions know where to find the answers at? I think you would have a major jump in followers on this channel if you did that. Maybe link this channel in the tab below your videos as well. I don’t feel like that’s “promoting” for followers but I do feel it would benefit your followers to promote just so Garden Answer can reach more people looking for answers.
All of your products are used by you each day. Some of us don't know enough about things like augers and drill- drivers to power them. Spending that much on an item that we don't understand isn't a good idea! So we depend on you to have what we need! Thank you, and for the pretty things like tee shirts. Love them
I've been watching some of your old videos. The one where you did a Q&A just after Benjamin was born, you talked about your dream projects. A picture you showed was of a walled, formal garden. Now you have more land, have you revisited that thought? A walled garden would be amazing on your property (you've done the cut flower garden, which was the other one you mentioned - yay!!)
Echinacea can be winter-sowed but if you know where you want it to grow just do direct fall-sowing! The seeds love to hang out waiting for the winter rains to get established and then (I think) you get faster spring growth that way. I have a long bed of it along our driveway that I’ve established over the last two years and now I just hang out watching every bee in the neighborhood living their best life. Love it. 🐝
Oh , my grandkids are near you at the County Fair with 4H ! Talk about a “camping trip “living in a parking lot trailer in the heat for 4 days ! They can’t get away from the heat each year ! But they collected Blue Ribbons ! Yeah!
Agreed Laura! I shut down as soon as they start selling stuff. I appreciate your store (have ordered a few times). It makes it easy to find the products you use and recommend.
Love the idea of a silk plant line, we all have those spots in our house that need a plant presence but the light or location isn't a fit for a live one.
❤❤❤. Loving your store. Don’t feel like you are pushing things. I’m delighted to be able to get great products in one place! Love all your advice and inspiration! My PW superbena sparkling rose are loving their pots this summer in Central NY!
I don't know if this will get back to your crew at the warehouse but I wanted to let you know that I placed my order this morning and I already have tracking info... same day! They are awesome! Thank you so much for starting your on-line store!!
As an international viewer (Australia) - I am always soooo happy for the opportunity to directly support the creators that have blessed my life (like you do). & listen, the USD to AUD conversion is absolutely awful, BUT I'd still prefer to save my pennies for an order with you. I'm always so impressed by the way you have handled your journey & want to reaffirm that we ❤ you and i am VERY happy for you to take my money 😂 *insert fry/futurama meme*
Love you guys, your family and videos. Thank you!! Experienced my first pest this year. I cut a stem of flower off and put it in a ziploc bag off to the local garden center in town. The local garden center wasn’t sure but they said they were too big for mites and he said you need “Neem oil”. They were closing so everyone was trying to get out of there. I bought the product its label said “Captain Jack’s and I remember you mentioning that before. I stopped at a neighbor’s on the way home who has beautiful gardens is and very knowledgeable about gardening . She they are red aphids she said you need “Neem oil’ and went to get me hers but I had bought it at the garden center. Hope it was correct. She also gave me a “Hibiscus” she got it from “Home depot” who was giving away plants. She said this type of “hibiscus’” needs to come when it starts to get cold as it’s the kind that can’t stay outside. I will have to do some research. I live in upstate NY. What your thoughts?
I’ve always respected the way you approach “selling thing”, l love how you l recommend products you’ve found you already loved and go on to offer products that viewers say they want. It has inspired me to follow that example with my channel. I did take one small brand deal (the product is actually great and I still love it , I’ve heard you mention using the brand too) but the process of doing that video just sucked joy out of me!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for answering my question! This will be perfect for my new home property size and needs. Thank you for ALL the additional information! Love you guys and spending time with you and your family. 😉🤗
You might try Atlas gloves. Jenny at Creekside recommended them when I first started watching her during Covid! I didn't like wearing gloves but have a hard time gardening without them now.
😂😂😂 Love the way the editor had fun with putting the paint can paint on the screen while Laura was looking for it. 😂😂😂 Yes definitely more Hibiscus love that plant. Wish it was a perennial for me in zone 3. Great recap as usual. Yes absolutely have fun at the fair. Thanks again for sharing this with us.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hello Laura and Aaron, it can get in the high 90’s in (near Syracuse/Utica NY) and dip into the 50’s at night, enough to put a jacket on! Love all your video’s and all your beautiful gardens❣️God Bless You and Your Family, Chris
Question: Were you serious when you said you would like to redesign the area in front of your kitchen to include a pond and connect/open it to the fireplace area? That would be FANTASTIC!!!
Two weeks ago I met Laura and Aaron, he said something to my husband and me “ I just make videos in my backyard!” It totally cracked us up that he’s so humble! What a beautiful comment! I totally agree with you too!
We completely agree with you!! They have inspired us in ways I don’t think their family truly understands.
😂 Taylor! Gray hair and beard, very dashing. Awesome recap y'all.
Waves from far West Texas cuz trust me ya don't want a hug, sweaty garden aroma. 😅
❤
💯
Love the editing! 😂🤣😂 The can of Ultra slowly creeping up from the bottom of the screen while you were searching…. Perfect!😊
I know I’m loving it and the buffering w the dialup noise 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Go Taylor! 📽️
I was dying when that can popped up. Keep it up, Ken!
😆🤣🤣
That was great 😂😂😂
I really did LOL when the Rustoleum can came creepy up from below as Laura was looking everywhere for it. 😄 Great editing!
Haha, loved it too. Well done.
I agree with Laura 100% about the selling advertising. That is why I love your channels because you never say please subscribe, hit the like button etc. ❤ I tend to lose my interest when people begging and pushing to sell things. I appreciate you and Aaron for who you are. ❤
The Rustoleum can slowly creeping into view while you're ducking down to look for it is hilarious! I needed the silly moment in my day!
That cracked me up, too! 😂

My favorite high impact word goes like this....".Oh, dirty word!"
You make the world a better place!
That is very true for me!
Amen!
I very much appreciate that you don't want to be a shill for your store. I get so much enjoyment from this channel, but would unfollow if it turned into an infomercial. Thank you for your integrity and high standards in the way you operate.
Nice job Laura and Aaron ❤
Agreed! Love their content.
Yes I appreciate that, too. It like they have these products available for the convenience of those people who are looking for them after seeing their value in the videos. Like , “Hey, where can I get one of those!”
I had previously bought products because you used them. You having a store makes it more convenient for me. Thank you for this service.

I've been looking for the green plastic planting box that Laura uses in the greenhouse. That would be a great item to add to the shop.
I made a trip to Andrew's special to buy mine, I ❤ it!
Suggestion on house plants not near the sink: Keep a pretty watering can or bottle of water nearby to water it when you see the need.
I love that idea. Thank you.😊
That was my mental suggestion
A cute copper watering can
That's what I do. It is helpful!
Ferns don't survive in my house. Any houseplant that can't get in line with my once a week watering schedule isn't welcome here 😂
I have a couple that live inside in the winter but out they go when it’s warm, they do do better outside but I get them to pull through wintertime. Close attention is paid.
I seal the inside of my terra cotta pots for my water loving plants. It’s been a game changer
What a great idea! Morning from rainy SC.
Nice idea but the pots won’t be able to breathe as they typically do. But yea, it works in some situations.
@@n.w.414 That’s kinda the point for the fern.
I plant some houseplants in a zip lock freezer bag before the pot. Cut off the zip top and put some holes in strategic spots for drainage and air flow. You can have an easy "liner" made precisely for the plant's needs.

I loved the Ultra Cover clear appearing! I need that feature in my life! 😅
Have a great day
Would Bethany ever consider a garden tour of her place? I would enjoy seeing what she has done with the items from your house and also her livestock.
This was asked a few months back. Laura said, she was not going to ask Bethany to share her home. Have a great day.😊
And Cheddar!
Please keep the negative space around the benches!!! It is the perfect counterpoint to the abundance across the path and gives that soothing, peaceful vibe that only boxwoods and shade trees can bring! 🌳🌳🌳

I also agree.
I agree with you Laura! I’m turned off when content creators read off commercials. I didn’t know you get pressured to do that. I for one, am SO DARN HAPPY you feel averse to doing it ❤️

Thanks for the open, honest discussion about selling. I know I could never sell anything I didn't truly believe in.❤

Your new seating on the westside reminds me of the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. Very cosmopolitan and European. Lovely!
Good morning Laura and Aaron! Have a great day .
I’m giving up on them after this year 😂
I too love the negative space on the west side where the benches are. It’s clean, tidy and calming just the way it is. !!!!!!!!!!!❤
My kneeling pad arrived! OMG it’s wonderful to have that size to work with. So much better than the typically small ones. Thank you!
Yes! And all the drip equipment with it!
Good Morning Laura and Aaron, I love your videos and watch them with my morning coffee. I was thinking maybe creeping thyme would look great under your benches on the West side.
Can I just say, that besides loving this channel for the gardening/inspiration/beauty, I just love love this family so much 🥰❤️🙏 Such a beautiful example of how to love and relate to each other ❤️🙌🙏
Loved Laura looking for the the Rustoleum can and it appearing on the screen! ❤😂😂😂
What comes across to me is that you provide your community a place to purchase the things you use and love!
Love the editing, love your approach on "selling", love the beekeeping idea. Another beautiful Sunday. Hope the fair was fun, I adore nostalgic things as well ❤
OH! I also like those benches on the westside with nothing around them. I love the negative space too I think its perfect!
Thank you for all you do❣️
🤣😂🤣
I LOVE your editorial humor😉💗
Thank you for making me giggle!
Loved this recap…very enjoyable. And thank you for responding to my houseplant question. I greatly appreciate it! ❤
Love them
Totally juvenile but was so hyped to see my question make it into the recap. I've been watching for years!🎉🎉🎉
I've been watching some of your old videos.
Love it. 🐝
I could use Little Quick fire everywhere!! I don't have your space for the Fabs but I love the shape, ease and everything thing about them.
Side bar: I love the tartan on Aaron’s shirt, such a pretty summer pattern
Thank you, thank you thank you! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your attitude
Yes definitely more Hibiscus love that plant. Wish it was a perennial for me in zone 3. Great recap as usual. Yes absolutely have fun at the fair.
Thanks again for sharing this with us.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Are you too cold for "hardy" Hibiscus? We can grow it as a perennial in zone 5a.
I got super lucky and found some of those same aged terracotta pots at my local feed store! They are beautiful!
You are doing it all beautifully! Always sincere and inspiring. You all make our lives better!
your editor is on top of his game. go taylor. yall make it fun. good job every body
