Here in the Netherlands we cut off the blooms and we let them die off in our own gardens and they come back next spring. Only if you want to move them you harvest the bulbs and dry them until the fall. Commercially they harvest the bulbs in june/july and the local youth selects and peels them during their vacation as a summer job.

We tried buying plants locally but the "garden centers" here in Wyoming pale in comparison to the ones we had when we lived in Pennsylvania. We found that it is worth it, for us, to spend the extra money and get 99.9% of our plants from PW. Higher cost but better packaging, better product and better results. And oh yeah everybody, plant more freakin' trees! Thanks for everything and have a great day!

Agree. Ours paid for themselves in less than 5 years (all electric house in Maryland). It DOES increase the value of your property because it reduces the cost of “running” your property. Don’t know of Oregon but might want to talk to an installer as they’ll know all the incentives and SREC. But I won’t have a property going forward without solar, and next property will also have geothermal. I hate our heat pump.

It sounds like you are mentally pretty far down the road with more boxwood around your cut flower garden. But may I suggest you look, instead, at some of the low, open-design cedar fences around formal rose gardens in England. Often they are beautiful architectural statements by themselves. They weather to the same silvery gray as your benches will. But then if you plant them with climbing roses they are completely next level. You could still flank all your openings with conical boxwood, but rose-covered low fences would be so stunning. (And Paul could build the panels for you this winter in your barn!😢)

I agree, make your cut flower garden as pretty and formal as you like and enjoy the view all year round. Grow just the flowers you want for your own flower arrangements and maybe just a few to give away if you have enough left. Like you said it's your garden and it's for you to enjoy, not to grow stuff for others. And I know it's a lot of work but I would swap the black square containers at the entrance for the pretty ones that are next to the dumpster because I think they match the flower/rose garden theme even better.

I planted five shelves of seedlings this year and I found the tank sprayer to be more convenient. It lasted several days without filling, and the long wand could reach to the back of the shelves. I am thankful for you and Aaron I’ve learned things from you. I have 2 tropical hybiscus trees in my front yard 1 of them isn’t doing very well this year. We transplanted them last year because their pots were falling apart. I moved them to the back yard in a sunnier location hoping they will do better. I probably would have left them there if I haven’t been watching you. Now I put my annual containers in the front yard 2 of them match they are at the front door the 3 rd pot is different. But next season they will all match

Love your videos! Thanks for addressing the question about annuals vs perennials. I'm new to gardening and really had no idea why it would ever be beneficial to plant annuals vs perennials due to the work involved with annuals but now I get it. Lol. Thanks for helping newbies like me get a clue.😁

I’d buy that shirt!!! definitely planting more freaking trees. Our town continues to cut down trees and it infuriates me. And as far as the boxwood hedging….100% agree with Aaron, if it’s what you would love then do it. I think it would be spectacular. #teamboxwoods

I have a grouping of 15 thuja's, 5 in each group planted in 2014 and they do well in the snow! I absolutely love them. Good choice Aaron! On another note I would also wear Aaron's T-shirt "Plant more freaking TREES!

During our spring windstorms our patio umbrella flew up and over our house and landed in the middle of the street. People were freaking out and I peed myself laughing 😂😂😂

I live in the Netherlands and for bulb production they dehead them around mother's day, then they die back, and yes all brown fields and will lift them in june/juli to select bulbs for sale, I worked a holiday job, sorting them and taking out the bad ones, there's peple having to peel them, back then by hand, and pickers were paid by the basket

Aaron, they bush-hog them half way down, the plant and they don't water then and they turn yellow. That's when they are dug and put in storage based and ready for shipment in October or planted in newly proud fields.

I love my Eley hose reel, thanks to you guys! We put on a Gilmour hose and a softer, cloth (?) type hose on it. I rolls up so easily, and holds a lot of hose length.

I have a black lace elderberry in a large container against a north-facing wall (UK). It gets sun first thing in the morning and from mid-afternoon, it will not reach the size of Laura’s but it’s been very happy for more than 3 years and does a great job of breaking the appearance of a blank wall

Other channels have already shared the new 2025 plants from proven winners! I have saw them all! I have both the auger and the hand trowel and love those both!
There is a company called giraffe that makes a hose reel like hoselink with a 5/8” hose. It is in a black case also. I have one and it is so much lighter!
We do not have fences around our property in Illinois unless it is to retain animals.

AARON IS RIGHT!!!! Do what makes YOU happy!!! There will always be those with a different opinion. At the end of the day, as the sun goes down over your property, you are left with YOU!!! So rely on your moral compass and the knowledge that you and Aaron both come from good stock!
