We live on a street that people walk on, I get comments and questions about flowers and plants. One young woman asked about the aliums, she said, "I have only seen those on Garden Answer", you are connecting many of us with all you share.

The world of before kids and after kids! I have noticed you simplifying more and more in the past two years and I really like that approach - it is more relatable. While I loved seeing all of the creativity, it was a bit exhausting. And l agree with others, no - don’t do home tours. That’s your private space. And was happy to hear you say last week that you were not doing the college gardens. That was a gift to them but does not need to be a commitment. And - dare I say it?- it was not as interesting as your own garden, time at Andrew’s, day trips with your mom and Monica, as well as projects in/tours of their gardens.
Love watching both of you discussing all about gardening, you are a very unique couple. Thank you for sharing all your gardening knowledge. And NO on tours, that would be too invasive. Videos are just right. Your actual privacy is much too important. Keep your grounds sacred, if I was your neighbor I would not be happy knowing there's so many people knowing the area. Pond algae control. String algae control, use Barley bales, Put them in your pond and as they decompose they release Humic acid which string algae does not like and will prevent string algae from growing. Nothing kills algae except chemicals. So your best option for natural control is Barley bales. Also you can create shade quickly. Its called Pond blue. It is basically a dye to darken your water, It is natural and its like putting sun glasses on your pond. But before you use it you should get the algae under control again and then use the Pond blue. I have helped many people over the years to get their algae problems under control. And have watched your pond videos from the beginning.

If the kids ever get their own garden spaces again, it would be cute to put the hayracks on the short little fences around their garden plots. They could design, plant, and harvest flowers of their choice from the hayracks and veggies from the child-sized garden plots. (Picturing child-sized picnic table and garden benches there, too!)

It's hard to put into words but after living around people from different areas, Oregonians just have a way about them that is unique!

We all have to prioritize at different stages of life. You are so busy with this business and your family - something has to give, and if that means no flower boxes, no hay racks, fewer veggies this year - great! I love how you both experiment, adapt and move on. And what a gift to work full-time with your spouse at home!
I recently purchase the auger. I have hardly ever used power tools. Once i figured out how to attach it to a drill I started at 1 and then went up. For anyone who isn't sure - it is so much easier to manage than I had anticipated. I hoped it would be easy and it is. So worth it. Used it to plant nearly 200 annuals the other day.
Good morning - I wanted to mention, and I hope this is taken in the context it is intended. I love that Bethany and others take plants and things you (the property) are no longer using. I see it all as being repurposed and being good stewards of what is available. I recently did a project and used about 95% repurposed items. I really didn't want to spend much and of course like any project it got bigger than I had planned. I made it work. Also, we would love to see Bethany's horses if she is ever up for sharing.

I worked for a city water facility (Baker City, right in your neighborhood!). Most cities will definitely come after the homeowner if their tree roots damage their system. A good Realtor will suggest that you have sewer lines inspected before you purchase a home. Repairs can set you back thousands of dollars.
+Note to Aarron. We lived in Winnipeg and tree roots grew into and plugged our sewer line to the street. Roter roter to the rescue but the city wanted the roots because we had a tree and they had a tree in the boulevard and if it was theirs they would pay and if not we would,, Roter touter knew this and left a plastic bags with chewed up roots, it was theirs.
Re: tours of your beautiful gardens...not only logistics to be concerned about, there is always the liability factor. Thanks for sharing all the planting, progress of development and your family with us through the videos.
I'm happy that you are satisfied with your PW orders. I ordered for the first time - available in Canada, and I am so disappointed! Half the order didn't arrive, but to be honest, was the fault of UPS. However the remaining plants that did arrive were either damaged or so small that it will take all summer to grow. Contacted PW (after many e-mails that were ignored) and was just told "Sorry, just plant what you have!"' .Over $400..00 for my first order. May not seem like a lot to some, but a LOT for me. Never again!
I do understand having time for other projects but I love it when Laura feeds America ! Laura and Aaron’s generosity is inspiring, most people just aren’t generous anymore they always have to put a dollar amount on things. 💐💚🙃
We lived in a heavily wooded lot (5 acres) for 25 years. We had to have Roto Rooter every three years clean out the lateral lines from house to public sewer lines to avoid back up. Hope this helps.
Thank you for going over the Dewalt settings and showing it again- I have one of your augers but after trying to use it once I was scared to try again….. we have LOTS of roots And rocks. I think something like a meet and greet at Andrew’s after hours would be a great alternative to a tour. You would still be surrounded by plants and can do cocktails and snacks. And maybe even involve a craft of some kind.
Arron watch the Southerners Northern Garden where he installed a large fountain and hooked it up to drip and a float type thing that would automatically fill the fountain. This was very impressive and would fix Laura’s issue with filling fountains. They do need to be the larger fountains.
Thank you for sharing your garden with all of us. A note on Gaura, I am in Boston 5a-"7b" (more 5b/6) I planted Gaura as a centerpiece in a container about 3-4 years ago. Took a chance and planted it in my flower bed at the end of summer. I have been dividing it the past few seasons. Gorgeous whimsical addition. I had more success with the white version and the clumps have about a 2.5ft wide x 2ft high spread. Highly recommend!
Aaron, as someone who has worked 19 years with a local sewer dept, yes the roots can get in the line, if you are majorly concerned I'd inquire with your sewer dept.

Love your channel. I get so inspired when watching where you planting in every space on your property. Looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in the pond area where you are expanding it. The one thing I found for when I had little kiddos is we just went about our business whether it is watching an intense movie, playing a piano or whatever is going to make noise. This way the kiddos could sleep anywhere in any type of noise. But I get it when others don't move it that way. It is so funny when helpers keep an eye out for what you are looking for aka horses. I have learned so much and keep trying new plants out in my garden every season. Thank you to you and Aaron for making the videos easy to understand.

The sheer size of the channel, plus the, uh, *intense* nature of a lot of their fans, would make me very nervous about having anyone unknown on the property if I were them.
also thank you Aaron for showing the drill and auger - I tried reading my brochure but that didn't help but I learn better from someone showing me. Know I understand why my auger would stop over and over again, now I know it was user error and how to fix it.
As much as all of us would love to see your gardens in person, I totally agree with keeping it just your private space. The thought of a bunch of people traipsing around what I consider my personal "safe place" would send me on a trip to the looney bin! 🤪 We want to keep you guys sane! I am sure most people who watch your channel enjoy the safe space you have created for us with your videos, giving us a respite from the day to day grind. Love your videos and have learned so much. Just want to share that there was a maple on and "island" grass strip in front of my house. The roots stretched out and got into the city sewer line and the line had to be replaced. In my town, the homeowner is responsible for any obstruction between the house and outlet. Luckily the utility company replaced the line since it was beyond my property.
Great video! RE: trees around water/wastewater infrastructure - check your city or county standards. In our area, you could plant small trees or shrubs, but larger trees had to be at least 10’ away from any pipes. FYI

Friends of ours ....son got Lyme disease from ticks ..here in Central CA high desert....and has lost so much weight and hardly ever wants to eat..thinking he has been battling it now for 14 years and they've taken him to every doctor imaginable
Hi Laura, I totally agree about the Miracle Gro soil. I ran out of my usual soil but found a bag of Miracle Gro and ended up with slivers in my hands and fingers. It took days to get rid of them. Lesson learned!
Tour suggestion, organize a tour of your garden as a fundraiser for a non-profit or the assisted living facility that you plant and take flowers to. I'm sure people would be happy to see your beautiful garden and support a local organization and pay a significant price to do that.
First I so enjoy your videos! Thank you both! Next as an old gardener, part of what I love about gardening is the changes that occur in me, my preferences, and the plants! However, your husband has a point that I agree with looking back on my life, the amount of and time really impact what your interests are. For example, window boxes look so pretty on a house, but messy and time consuming to keep them looking like you want them to, kids are messy and require a lot of time, which are more intense but oh so much more worth it! Lol, spoken from a retired teacher and parent!❤️
Aaron tree roots will definitely grow into city sewer lines!!! Most cities, at least here in Utah, will not repair a line damaged by tree roots if it’s on your property, unless you have insurance to cover it. You’re responsible for any damage done. I lived in a rental home for several years that had a tree that grew into the sewer line. The landlord was too cheap to have the line cleared out. It got to the point where just doing a load or two of laundry would cause the sewer to back up into the house. Ended up going to a laundromat for a while till I could afford a deposit on a new place to live. Don’t plant trees too close to sewer or gas lines!!!
Aaron please check with council about tree roots. In our area we are responsible financially for any roots damaging pipes from trees in our yard. We are in Australia so may be different in USA but worth checking.

Have you considered using a thornless variety on those arches, and putting the Collettes on a much wider arch elsewhere on the property? No matter what you do, it's all wonderful! Good morning - I wanted to mention, and I hope this is taken in the context it is intended. I love that Bethany and others take plants and things you (the property) are no longer using. I see it all as being repurposed and being good stewards of what is available. I recently did a project and used about 95% repurposed items. I really didn't want to spend much and of course like any project it got bigger than I had planned. I made it work. Also, we would love to see Bethany's horses if she is ever up for sharing.

I worked for a city water facility (Baker City, right in your neighborhood!). Most cities will definitely come after the homeowner if their tree roots damage their system. A good Realtor will suggest that you have sewer lines inspected before you purchase a home. Repairs can set you back thousands of dollars.
+Note to Aarron. We lived in Winnipeg and tree roots grew into and plugged our sewer line to the street. Roter roter to the rescue but the city wanted the roots because we had a tree and they had a tree in the boulevard and if it was theirs they would pay and if not we would,, Roter touter knew this and left a plastic bags with chewed up roots, it was theirs.
Re: tours of your beautiful gardens...not only logistics to be concerned about, there is always the liability factor. Thanks for sharing all the planting, progress of development and your family with us through the videos.

I'm happy that you are satisfied with your PW orders. I ordered for the first time - available in Canada, and I am so disappointed! Half the order didn't arrive, but to be honest, was the fault of UPS. However the remaining plants that did arrive were either damaged or so small that it will take all summer to grow. Contacted PW (after many e-mails that were ignored) and was just told "Sorry, just plant what you have!"' .Over $400..00 for my first order. May not seem like a lot to some, but a LOT for me. Never again!
I do understand having time for other projects but I love it when Laura feeds America ! Laura and Aaron’s generosity is inspiring, most people just aren’t generous anymore they always have to put a dollar amount on things. 💐💚🙃

We lived in a heavily wooded lot (5 acres) for 25 years. We had to have Roto Rooter every three years clean out the lateral lines from house to public sewer lines to avoid back up. Hope this helps.

Arron watch the Southerners Northern Garden where he installed a large fountain and hooked it up to drip and a float type thing that would automatically fill the fountain. This was very impressive and would fix Laura’s issue with filling fountains. They do need to be the larger fountains.
It seems like they complain about their fountains but buy them anyway.

Thank you for sharing your garden with all of us. A note on Gaura, I am in Boston 5a-"7b" (more 5b/6) I planted Gaura as a centerpiece in a container about 3-4 years ago. Took a chance and planted it in my flower bed at the end of summer. I have been dividing it the past few seasons. Gorgeous whimsical addition. I had more success with the white version and the clumps have about a 2.5ft wide x 2ft high spread. Highly recommend!
Lost gaura here in zone 5b/6a even protected with leaves.

Aaron, as someone who has worked 19 years with a local sewer dept, yes the roots can get in the line, if you are majorly concerned I'd inquire with your sewer dept.

Love your channel. I get so inspired when watching where you planting in every space on your property. Looking forward to seeing what is going to happen in the pond area where you are expanding it. The one thing I found for when I had little kiddos is we just went about our business whether it is watching an intense movie, playing a piano or whatever is going to make noise. This way the kiddos could sleep anywhere in any type of noise. But I get it when others don't move it that way. It is so funny when helpers keep an eye out for what you are looking for aka horses. I have learned so much and keep trying new plants out in my garden every season. Thank you to you and Aaron for making the videos easy to understand.

also thank you Aaron for showing the drill and auger - I tried reading my brochure but that didn't help but I learn better from someone showing me. Know I understand why my auger would stop over and over again, now I know it was user error and how to fix it.
As much as all of us would love to see your gardens in person, I totally agree with keeping it just your private space. The thought of a bunch of people traipsing around what I consider my personal "safe place" would send me on a trip to the looney bin! 🤪 We want to keep you guys sane! I am sure most people who watch your channel enjoy the safe space you have created for us with your videos, giving us a respite from the day to day grind. There's no need for us all to be up in your personal space.

Love your videos and have learned so much. Just want to share that there was a maple on and "island" grass strip in front of my house. The roots stretched out and got into the city sewer line and the line had to be replaced. In my town, the homeowner is responsible for any obstruction between the house and outlet. Luckily the utility company replaced the line since it was beyond my property.
I have really enjoyed the miracle grow soil over the years. I also don’t wear gloves! But it’s great there are multiple options for everyone!
Great video! RE: trees around water/wastewater infrastructure - check your city or county standards. In our area, you could plant small trees or shrubs, but larger trees had to be at least 10’ away from any pipes. FYI

Friends of ours ....son got Lyme disease from ticks ..here in Central CA high desert....and has lost so much weight and hardly ever wants to eat..thinking he has been battling it now for 14 years and they've taken him to every doctor imaginable

Hi Laura, I totally agree about the Miracle Gro soil. I ran out of my usual soil but found a bag of Miracle Gro and ended up with slivers in my hands and fingers. It took days to get rid of them. Lesson learned!
Tour suggestion, organize a tour of your garden as a fundraiser for a non-profit or the assisted living facility that you plant and take flowers to. I'm sure people would be happy to see your beautiful garden and support a local organization and pay a significant price to do that.
I used my kids nap time TO practice. They slept better with sound ( especially music) than with silence.

First I so enjoy your videos! Thank you both! Next as an old gardener, part of what I love about gardening is the changes that occur in me, my preferences, and the plants! However, your husband has a point that I agree with looking back on my life, the amount of and time really impact what your interests are. For example, window boxes look so pretty on a house, but messy and time consuming to keep them looking like you want them to, kids are messy and require a lot of time, which are more intense but oh so much more worth it! Lol, spoken from a retired teacher and parent!❤️
Aaron tree roots will definitely grow into city sewer lines!!! Most cities, at least here in Utah, will not repair a line damaged by tree roots if it’s on your property, unless you have insurance to cover it. You’re responsible for any damage done.
I lived in a rental home for several years that had a tree that grew into the sewer line. The landlord was too cheap to have the line cleared out. It got to the point where just doing a load or two of laundry would cause the sewer to back up into the house. Ended up going to a laundromat for a while till I could afford a deposit on a new place to live. Don’t plant trees too close to sewer or gas lines!!!
Aaron please check with council about tree roots. In our area we are responsible financially for any roots damaging pipes from trees in our yard. We are in Australia so may be different in USA but worth checking.
