Roger Wilco, the space janitor dedicated to cleaning the evil out of the galaxy, our hearts go out to you. May you live on in the stars you meticulously swept and mopped.
I found myself passionately humming this theme to myself earlier today, despite having not heard it for 30+ years. So I looked it up here, and it is as glorious as when I first heard it at age 12.
Spaceventure, the latest project by the two guys, has just finished its kickstarter, and they did it. The two guys from andromeda are back, and bringing us all new space glory.
Not yet, but Mark and Scott have said that the deal isnt off the table yet. That said, SpaceVenture is the spiritual successor. All thats missing is Roger himself, the narration, humour, everything is there once again. This is, for all intents and purposes, Space Quest rebooted :)
@krane6457 The Quest in the title was kind of Sierra's trademark, like in Police Quest or Quest for Glory (formerly known as Hero's Quest) which were arguably not that similar to the others. Since Roberta was co-founder of Sierra, I guess that is why it says "Roberta Williams says thank you for playing King's/Space Quest" when you die in either game (Ken Williams also appeared at the end of the Leisure Suit Larry remake). But if you don't believe me, look it up for yourself on Wikipedia or IMDB.
I might be a tad bit late with throwing my two cents in to this whole who-wrote-what-game discussion, but Roberta Williams did NOT write the Space Quest series. She did wrote the King's Quest games, but Space Quest were all written by Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy (Two Guys From Andromeda). The reason the games look very similar is because they (Sierra On-Line) used the same game engine to produce both game series (as well many, many other games).
@sslaxx seeing the success Telltale has had with Monkey Island and Sam and Max, I'm sure they'll get around to it at some point, right after Jurassic Park and The Walking Dead
@krane6457 As far as I know, Roberta Williams was just a writer, so the fact that the games look alike just shows that many of the same artists and programmers worked on them. As for the story and humor, it certainly may have been inspired by King's Quest, but that doesn't mean that the same person wrote it.
hey! guys its been almost 20 years since we last heard of silly old wilco? im aware of some project in the kickstarting phase but seriously! its been 17 years since anything
Benjamin Fuller It can't. The license to Roger Wilco and "Space Quest" is not available at any reasonable price. Thus "Space Quest" became "SpaceVenture" and Roger Wilco was replaced with Ace Hardway.
@sslaxx Can you confirm that from Telltale? I haven't read anything like that on the newsletters yet. If they do, The Two Guys from Andromeda would probably be happy to join in.
@sslaxx You know, you're absolutely right.. I had forgotten about those. My sister had played some of those King's Quest remakes. Very professional looking stuff. Sierra sacking the staff was still a dick move.
@tonydecaro you mean you didnt notice how space quest and king's quest have many things alike, graphics, the inventory thing, how you save the game, and how much humor it has in the deaths???
@CrazyliciousFlavor then why is it very similiar AND have 'quest' in it like king's quest? besides, in the very first games of both kings and space quest if you die at the end or something it says "roberta williams says thank you for playing kings/space quest!" or something
@ReverendSyn At least there're people like DataDog (with his Incinerations fangame), Sledgy and Dr Slash (with the SQ5.5 and SQ12 fan games), and Infamous Adventures with SQ2's remake...

And the Game is still not out...
It fell through
posts that didn't age well...

RIP Gary Owens
this one is from SQ1 VGA

There needs to be a Space Quest movie based on Space Quest 1. Every single scene, live action, Jimmy Fallon as Roger Wilco.
I remember really wanting this as a kid…I still want it now! #spacequestmovie
@@rosecoloredhusky5118 #spacequestmovie
Who would play Vohaul?
Or Ryan Gosling.
I prefer the dos PC speaker version. But this version is pretty good
superb! Space Quest, brings back memories!!!

I've been a fan of the SQ series since I was 12
I'd love to hear this from a real orchestra.
There is ua-cam.com/video/QjFBqCNBsGI/v-deo.html but I just found out its not in fact an orchestra, just a really really good synth setup :(
So hear this: ua-cam.com/video/AvHPrpomXmw/v-deo.htmlm25s
Is this what the Space Quest theme "composer" was "inspired" by?

ah the game that made dehydrated water, i loved these since i was a kid, hell the first one is as old as i am

“...That has not aged quite so well..."
Then again, there's the new company using Telltale's name and making a sequel to TWAU, so... Maybe.
0:00 Is it a plane, Is it a chicken, Is it a duck no it's Roger Wilco. XD
Doomsdayman A chicken? As in Astro Chicken?

Roger Wilco, here's your new assistant, "Ryley Robinson.";)
I'm in the 90's again 8D

The problem I have about the upcoming SpaceVenture kickstarter is it seems it won't star our beloved, accident prone, below par janitor.

@@Forge64 Considering the rights are owned by the greedy bastards at Activision Blizzard that doesn't surprise me.

@chrishughes724 Was involved with one of them (Incinerations).
Is a good music!!

@ReverendSyn By that point Sierra was in the hands of what would eventually become Vivendi Games.
This was designed as a parody of the Star Wars theme
Yea, Space Quest was made by those two guys from Andromeda.
@ReverendSyn And now it might not be dead. Strange how things it works out.
used the merlin jupiter sf2 , tis the best for this theme
@Stoney3K Space Quest? Not yet confirmed, I'd imagine that depends on how well King's Quest does.

@sslaxx What do you mean? Ken and Roberta fired all the creators on Chainsaw Monday.
Now there isnt even a Sierra Games anymore
space quest was a great game, but i think roberta (the creator of space quest and king's quest) did a better job on king's quest, in my own opinion
Too bad they can't create the "real" Space Quest 7. :( Or did they manage to get the license back after all?
@ReverendSyn Not heard of Telltale games getting the license?
@sslaxx No I hadn't.
Wait... is this a T-shirt or something?
What? Roberta Williams had nothing to do with Space Quest.
Shame the series is deader than a Denebrian Dodo
