If Robert Louis Stevenson and Douglas Adams got together to write their masterwork... You would get a bloody mess, but you also might get "The Secret of Monkey Island". Love this game, too much for words :)
+giggopoo2 Get it on PS3/Xbox 360/Steam as a bundle on physical for Xbox or PS3 or digital for all three. Trust me, you'll fall in love with it when you start playing SOMI and then MI2 Lechucks revenge!
I know that feeling. I wish point and click games came back. Companies don't look at nostalgia and what people want. Heartstone was a tiny game made by a tiny group for fun. If companies tried smaller themed games with more personal flare then they could easily market and ship good quality games with less need for graphical or systematic standards
"My name is Guybrush Treepwood, prepare to DIE!" I don't think I'll ever forget this one, both because it's already legendary, and for the many battles you have to fight to get all of them "skills".
I can't believe it. For most people, this game brings back childhood memories. I, on the other hand, didn't the opporunity to play it until the release of Special Edition... and yet still, when I now remember it, it's so special, it really feels as a childhood memory and brings chills down my spine, for how awesome it was.
For me, I was actually a kid when the special edition released. My introduction to the series was with the SE's. Saw the second one advertised on Xbox Live Arcade, picked it up because it was cheap and binged the hell out of it. Then eventually I picked up the first game, too. Incredibly nostalgic game for me, even if I didn't grow up with the original DOS version.
I played MI in a rather unusal way... 3, 4, Tales of, 1 SE, 2 SE. And then recently Return, which I haven't finished yet, since it didn't really grab me.
Long live Monkey Island, the greatest adventure series there is. That's right, King;s Quest. I said it. The best King's Quest < the best Monkey Island.
The first time I heard this when the Special Edition came out, it made me feel all nostalgic for the original game. That was ten years ago. Now I'm feeling nostalgic for a time ten years ago when I was feeling nostalgic. Christ, I'm getting old.
Eric Cartman True, but they still did make Tales of Monkey Island. It's a shame the Monkey Island dev didn't copyright the franchise for himself like Steve Purcell did with Sam & Max.
I've never played this game before but, thanks to GOG, I was recently able to start trying it out. I have to say that I completely fell in love with this theme. It's an instant classic in my books
How amazing is UA-cam; lost memories, captured on fcking this forever. Sod it, I ain't rescuing Governor Elaine again, 'cos I've heard the theme. Or as Walliams called it, the Feem Toon.
Old games I can't run on emulators these guys run with sound and cinematics I didn't even have as a child. Also Warcraft Adventures Lord Of Clans is mainly only found on the internet today, and it looks amazing DX
I just remember using a rubber chicken to slide down a zip-wire? Was a difficult game, but I don't think these days people get as much fun for as much time from computer games - they look great now but the playability has gone.
I have to wonder though... if Will is Guybrush, Elizabeth is Elaine, Tia Dalma is The Voodoo Lady, and the crew of the Black Pearl is Lechuck's crew, then who would Jack Sparrow be?
Try listening to all the older versions as well! Each one has it's own unique feel and qualities. Even the IBM speaker version has a special charm to it..
I'm probably one of the few who actually prefer this version over the original. The original was a masterpiece but this one feels more authentic, like a real Pixar movie kinda feeling. But I guess each one has his own opinion.
Fun fact, the special edition of this game was the first version I ever played, the reason being I tried to get a copy of the original DOS version off ebay around 2004 and got conned out of my money, sent an incomplete version that didn't work at all.
never heard of this game. but on sea of thieves i came accross a ship with 5 books talking about a headless monkey and had nice music.. so i looked it up.. how did i miss this game growing up
This game is older than I am and it's still amazing, Everyone needs to go through it. Play it with a guide or even watch video of it, it doesn't matter, so long as you experience the great writing this game has.

Its actually ironic (and amazing) that the scriptwriters of the original Pirates of the Carribbean movie were huge fans of The Secret of Monkey Island game, they even put some subtle references to the game in the movie. This game was loosely inspired by the book On Stranger Tides, which would go on to be loosely adapted for a Pirates of the Carribbean sequel years later. Funny how things come full circle! 😊
The memories from somewhere back in -90 when I was learning English for the first time. The nostalgia hits hard...But Monkey Island 2 was the one that blow my mind. Even thou this is the remake.

Theres alot of Monkey Island references in the movie like the undead crew in the first one, the Voodoo priestess from the end of the second one. idk i've been a big fan of the monkey island series since i was in the single digits. Its what got me into gaming i guess besides the Jumpstart games i played when i was 5-6. I'm new to the whole fanbase so idk if yall know that or not. lol

The first game I can say I honestly loved to play.
The graphical remake of Monkey island was good, but I had two quarrels: 1) What the hell was with Guybrush's hair? 2) The interface was a piece of crap.
