This was great! I love how the kids work so well together. Great to have a common goal. Lilly is always right out there with her brothers. She's tough!! Ty for sharing your lives with us
Now that it’s fall, are you gonna take a beautiful family picture with your kids hanging on your wall in your beautiful home❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah, thank you and so glad you like it. Our new outhouse is amazing, Hudson did a great job. The view from it is amazing too...we are starting to get a " cold seat" now in the mornings! Lol Oh well
Thank you. Yes, it seems like there's lots of strange things these days in our food. I have had some fruit do some pretty wierd things lately.... In the end, it's my fault because I should know exactly what I am eating. But hey, gotta start somewhere. We are starting with our small greenhouse then hopefully can go bigger and better next year as finances allow 😊 We will start our potatoe harvest soon because it's starting to freeze already up here!
Thank you. It's hard work and constant. But we live this way by choice so I can't complain. The kids stay busy and don't spend much time on their phones, so that's always good! We are all enjoying the new outhouse! Great view and solid structure
Oh you are so nice. Thank you. Have to tell you, we are loving our new outhouse and it's a beautiful view! I have noticed the seat is getting a bit too cold though! Lol. Oh well at least the bugs are gone!
Your outhouse looks awesome ! That little Cat sure made the digging easy :) Both handy tools on the homestead 👍, Awesome job moving stumps & cleaning up brush :) I used a little bigger one when I got started, I dug in a shallow well & hooked up running water & forgot to build a outhouse lol, It don't all happen over night as you have seen 11 years here & still building :)
Ha, yes you get it! Love it. Glad to know we are not alone!!! Unless you live sort of like this, sometimes it's hard to understand some of the challenges, etc... I do have to say though the outhouse seat is already getting cold in the morning! Oh no here we go again!...lol
Hi Sarah. Wow, great teamwork! Would you believe that’s the first time I ever seen the underneath of an outhouse. It reminds of so much of porta johns you see at fairs, flea markets, and concerts. One of us from our group would go in and we would shake it.😅 And oh boy, using one in Florida they get hot inside. Jeff is rocking getting those stumps out. Are you going to put an outside light above the outhouse door? Great job! When you rented the excavator, did you have to get insurance in case something went wrong? Geez, think of all the food you can grow. Thanks for sharing……you get any northern lights pics? Till next time, Larry from FL.
That's funny that's the first time you saw under an outhouse! Well I guess it's not something very often to see! Yep we will need some sort of lighting for sure. It's way too dark in there. I have been leaving the door open. It's very nice though, we love it. Thanks for watching!!!
Hello homestead living Alaska how are you doing today looks like you are doing great very nice work on the property and the outhouse I really like when the hole family works together you know me I will be sharing your video on my Facebook page publicly have a great Sunday and week here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎💕
You all work yourself to death, yet make it look fun. Just shows how great things can be when you do anything as a family! You were splitting wood in your last video, and I believe your target amount is 20 cords. Where do you store it all? Thank you for giving me a way to live the life Ive always wanted. Happiness to you and all your family!💜💜💜
Oh you are so nice. Well when we work together it gets done so much faster...and we are running out of time! Our goal needed for the 2 cabins is around 10 cords. We honestly have probably about 4 -5. So this next week Jeff is planning on cutting lots of spruce which we need to mix with our birch. We should have a video out tomorrow, part 2 We are slowly getting there...!!! We are are trying.! Thank you for watching us😊👍

We actually don't! Funny and great you can relate. My hubby always says in the winter "I'm getting too old for this outhouse stuff at -20"... I think we will go for some styrofoam this year
When I cleared mine yard I did the same thing as you the I took the back hoe & shook all the topsoil & dirt out of the brush it made awesome compost for the garden :) 👍Take care guy's great job"
Cool. Yes Jeff and I want to leave as much " native soil" as possible because one day there could be food planted there. Took a bit more time, but so worth it! We are also enjoying the outhouse. Great view too!
Your family really does work great together. I have never owned an outhouse or even used one. But I am curios. Was the building secured to the 2 boards they laid it on top of? I am just wondering because it looked like a good gust a wind could move it. Thank you for the video and sharing your adventures with us. All the best to you and the family.
I will ask them. That's a fair question. Outhouses are great. Never an issue with plumbing! Lol. The only thing that's rough is winter time and the very cold temps...you can only imagine. That's when they become " quick" visits! Lol
Did the kids get the Ikon Pass so they could ski in Alaska actually comes out free if you get the pass after a couple times skiing if you use the math❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
wouldn't have better to make a pile in the center with the roots, burn them, and spread the ash out. or did you use a small clearing to pile the roots up?
We just didn't have time to do exactly what we wanted to do because of the excavator costs/ rental. One day we hope to own one. It was rough on Jeff to push so hard with limited time. Will be nice one day to take our time and be more methodical with our clearing. Thank you for watching us!!!
Looks so great eh…the hoe worked wonders getting rid of the stumps. Cute outhouse too. I love ours too. Especially if you have a geat view to look at while in there. Take care 🌷🇨🇦
Not trying to be smart or funny …. I literally do not know! You apparently just dug a huge trench for the outhouse….. Why not did a bit deeper and put in a septic system? You could have an indoor bathroom…. No need to go outside to visit an outhouse! Am I missing something here? I would imagine if you dig below the frost line you would not need to worry about a freezing septic system? OR Am I missing something? Never been to Alaska (nor visited it) so I really do not know! Thanks
No worries. Good question!- So in a nutshell here it is..... Finances and the time to install a septic and indoor plumbing were not there this year. So outhouse is the alternative. Cheap, simple and pretty fast. We rented an excavator for a couple of days and the main purpose was to pull stumps. This gives us more area to grow food. The small time we had leftover with the machine we dug out a hole for the outhouse. Hopefully that makes sense! Hey maybe next year we can get our indoor toilet. It would be nice in the winter Thanks for watching us!😊
