Great vid! I think I have some ideas for you guys, and it's a bit of a change-up: 1. How do many successful coaches became bad (Terry Wallace, Denis Pagan, Ross Lyon) 2. How did many successful players became unsuccessful coaches (Voss, Primus, Hird, Leppitsch, Shaw)
@@garryjeffery9160 That's true with Hird, but even before the whole ASADA thing happened, I think the signs were there. In his first three seasons, Hird's Bombers would start off amazingly, but then would go on a losing streaks where they would either barely make the finals or miss it all together. (2011: 3rd after Rd.8 (5-2-1) finished 8th (11-10-1), (2012: 2nd after Rd.9 (8-1) finished 11th (11-11) (2013: 2nd after Rd.17 (13-3) had they been allowed into the finals, would finished 7th (14-8)). But out of those coaches I mentioned, I think he had a better chance at succeeding.
@@chrismackie-wright768 I think some players are destine to be good assistants. no more, Out of your list Leppitsch has 3 premiership as an assistant and as been instrumental in building the the best backline in the last 4 seasons.
@@harrybaruhas5576 That's exactly right. It's just that he wasn't in a good position to succeed with Brisbane, and didn't do himself many favours. However, like you said, he went to Richmond as an assistant and succeeded. The point you made could very well explain this problem amongst recently retired-players turned coaches.
Heading into this season as a Swans Fan is definitely gonna be interesting to watch the Young Players develop and see how they can rise. I don’t expect us to make Finals this year, but I do hope for a 12th or 13th Place Finish on the Ladder, but who knows, especially with the consistent trend of certain Clubs making a surprising rise all of a suddenly. Anyways, Great Video 👍
Fantastic video as always fellas but I have a couple questions. 1. Why did you mention Hogan for GWS but not Wright for Essendon? 2. What's the reasoning behind thinking McDonald will go down back, instead of just simply fighting for the #2 role with Weidemann?
Good questions! Wright I think is a bit lower profile than Hogan and the bombers going tall at the draft probably signals they're not 100% set on him (although it's hard to say where he's at after not getting a game all year last season), but definitely another name that should be thrown in the mix for the bombers forward setup. With McDonald it's entirely possible that he will be forced to compete for that forward spot, but his presence in that forward line has felt forced at times in recent years, so Brown gives them the flexibility to send him back if they feel that makes them stronger.
Hey man, love your vids. As a lions supporter i would like to point out a few things. Eric Hipwood even though he didn't kick as many goals last season, he was playing up the ground as that roaming forward and on champion data had an 50% improvement on previous seasons. This means daniher will more than likely be that big stay at home key forward given his injury history and new rules where at all stoppages you have to have 3 players inside 50. Daniher is also a better contested mark than hipwood which is why hipwood will play up the field and given mcinerney was that contested marker inside 50 when stef was ruck and mcinerney having to step up to to ruck now that stef is gone, daniher fills that role but is obviously a better more dynamic version of what mcinerney was. Secondly the lions will keep the 1 ruck + 3 key forward system. Even when stef martin missed games last year it was Hipwood and mcstay forward with Mcinerney ruck with one of matty eagles, archie smith and even ballenden and fullarton getting opportunities as that ruck/3rd key forward. With the addition of Daniher it will be Mcinerney rucking with mcstay being the second ruck like he was when fullarton went down against the saints. So the lions will play all four of mcinerney, mcstay, daniher and hipwood. I will say fullarton has a lot of potential and long term as important of a role mcstay plays in our forward structure he would be the one that probably drops out. I hope this makes some sense on the lions forward structure and roles daniher and hipwood will play. Mcstay's role stays the same other than the fact he will be the second ruck.
thanks for your input mate! definitely some great points raised here. I suppose it details just how much flexibility an acquisition like Daniher will give the lions
The bombers have something like 20 players over 195 cm. The immediate replacement for Joey I believe is Harry jones or Peter Wright, with cale hooker playing second fiddle. The bombers are also looking at recruit Alec waterman as a third tall option who can rotate through the midfield
As long as Dusty isn't lured anywhere for some big $$$ you'll be fine. And it will happen its just a matter of when. Once he's gone thats it for Richmond.
unpopular opinion: the most powerful key forward in the league is dustin martin. when hes inside 50 he attracts so much attention from the defense that other impactful talls and even smalls have plenty of free space, and even then he breaks his man and can score. his foreward presence is significantly greater than hawkins.
But he’s not a KPF, he’s an on-baller/medium sized forward. You can’t plant him on the 50 and bomb it on his head for marks, he works best on the run into the 50 and applying ground pressure. I agree he’s one of the most dangerous forwards, just not a key position
The Joe Daniher ‘what could have been at Essendon’ will burn my heart for decades
Farkkkkkkin ey?
As a bombers fan I think the key forward position is crucial for a team's success. We haven't had a truly dominant forward since Matthew Lloyd
I mean Joey and hooker were very very good in 2017
Great video as always guys.
Graphics on point.
"Stay at home forward relying upon good delivery" is an amazing highlight.

Ahh yeah, there might be something in that
I think Hird was a bit of a story in its own right I imagine we will be hearing that name alot in the next few years with young Tom

I think the fact that they dropped Oscar McDonald, frees up that spot for Tom again too
Majak at Melbourne is going to be interesting he is a top bloke and he looks like Melbourne's best option up forward with Brown injured
Great channel and great content! Keep up the good work!

Good video fellas, I'd love to see you do one on the new draftees.
Everytime I watch one of your videos I’m shocked as to how little subscribers you have
great video guys, will be good to watch in 2021 the tigers give especially the cats another spanking
Lol dreamer it's new year now geelongs going all the way you just watch
I love when a new vid pops up

Thought about doing an analysis on the 2020 grand final? Seeing where Geelong fell apart etc
hey mate, we wont be doing exactly that but will be releasing some Richmond tactics videos, their clashes with Geelong may naturally filter in there
I’m quite fine because I’m a Richmond fan
As long as Dusty isn't lured anywhere for some big $$$ you'll be fine. And it will happen its just a matter of when. Once he's gone thats it for Richmond.
Road to 10k💪
Mitchell Starc will go for 2.5M USD to RR or KXIP
Collingwood are doing well
Sandslash 😍
Not to mention Danihers massive accuracy problems infront of goal
Go cats
Daniher hasn't missed a game so far and hasn't been held goalless either.
I don’t think Cameron will solve things for Geelong
Geelong are on life support with their current group. Going to be some mass retirements coming soon either due to age or injuries.
Ye they know that, that’s why they are hoping to win a premiership in the next 2 years
Capable of kicking out of bounds on the full at 60 meters
Geelong v Brisbane 2021 gf
Bro this didn’t age well for Melbourne, Jackson ,Weidman, Mitch Brown, hunt. all gone now only McDonald and Ben brown
